FamilyRe: My In-laws Disrespect Me A Lot As Well As My Wife by isalegan2: 11:37pm On May 30, 2012
harakiri: This post should be an eye opener 4 those who think money isn't everything. @ Poster. . . I'll advise u 2 focus more on building yourself rather than worrying about who respects you or not. Most ppl on earth are shallow minded and categorize individuals by their success. Everybody respects the rich man even if he's a known drug baron or armed robber but it takes maturity and foresight to see the goodness in a poor dejected man. That's the harsh reality of life (YOU ARE WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD). Furthermore, your wife's character is questionable. Her ppl cannot disrespect you without herself encouraging it directly or indirectly. Also, for her younger sister to have the effrontery to provide the number of her previous toaster shows how low you have fallen and how small you are in their eyes. The fact that she actually collected it shows she is ready to put herself in the "market" again and they were probably talking excitedly about him and comparing both of you. From my view point, this marriage is heading for the rocks. Even if you win a billion naira lottery tonite, they will only respect your money. The apple never falls far from the tree. Your wife is a photocopy of her mother and sisters. A woman accepting numbers of past admirers even while being pregnant is NO wife. Even ashawo get more self discipline. You are a man. Use your head and quit being emotional abeg. It sucks. That's why they look down on you. End of!
Frank talk.

2. Never missed a penalty kick in his career.
3. Never got a yellow or red card in his career.
4. Never down with injury
5. Never missed a match for the country during his playing career.
6. All time highest goal scorer for Nigeria.

. . . In reply, he said, “ that is the worst thing I have ever done in my entire life. When Ebuka woke up from sleep that night, crying for bosom milk as he always did, I looked at him in anger and the voice came again saying , ‘kill him, he is not your son!’. In obedience to the voice, I hit him hard in the neck several times.”

Asked to described exactly how he did it, he raised his right hand like a boxer, hitting it severally on his left arm, causing this reporter to move backward, for fear of the unknown.

Continuing, he said, “You know he is a baby and very fragile. When my fist landed on him the first time, he screamed. At that point, the mother lifted her hand to prevent my next fist from landing on the boy , but I planted the hot iron on her hand”. Henry, reportedly landed another fist on the little helpless creature . At the third hit, Ebuka, as gathered, could no longer cry. He was still .

Fela-Lover: Hello there.

NaijaPatriot: Hey yourself. Thanks for calling. Hope you're having a good Naija Independence Day weekend.

Fela-Lover: I can't understand why Nigerians are celebrating independence.

NaijaPatriot: Why? What? What's the matter?

Fela-Lover: What are they f*cking celebrating? They are being led by an im*be*ci*le!

NaijaPatriot: Hmmm. Another way to look at it, I guess.

Fela-Lover: They are being bombed by foreigners. They are hungry . . .

NaijaPatriot: Well, celebration is for 1960, not what's happening now.

Fela-Lover: And what did they get in 1960?

NaijaPatriot: Well, you obviously want to vent; and you're leading somewhere, so let me hear it. I'm in rapt attention o.

Fela-Lover: Nigerians are just bloody fools.

NaijaPatriot: Whats the matter now?

Fela-Lover: I can't imagine having a dullard like Jonathan as a president.

NaijaPatriot: What are u reading?

Fela-Lover: Nothing.

Fela-Lover: It's too late to appreciate him more.

NaijaPatriot: Okay, dear. I understand. I'm not a hater.

NaijaPatriot: In other words, as long as he's not a hypocrite, you live and let live and continue to idolise him? Okay, so tell me more about what you like about him.

Fela-Lover: NO!

NaijaPatriot: Aaawww.

Fela-Lover: You're a good researcher. I am sure you can find out if you're interested.

NaijaPatriot: But I'll enjoy it more if you share with me.

The Importance of Being Extraordinary

Several years ago I was giving a speech at a law school that I think is ranked about number 25 or so in the United States. I was the only speaker and at least 100 law students had turned up to hear me speak to them about the job market.

At the time the legal job market in the United States was doing very well. Law school applications were up and lots of people coming out of law school were doing very well.

However, as I looked at the kids in this audience I could see a high level of arrogance. People were leaning back in their seats and appeared very confident for the most part: They seemed to feel as if they had already made it and would do very well no matter what occurred.

Because I was a full-time legal recruiter at the time, I knew that the opposite was likely true. Despite the fact these kids were going to a good school, I knew that only 20% of them would ever get jobs with large prestigious law firms. I also knew that of those, only a small percentage would stay more than a few years. Regardless of the state of the legal market, my assessment of the prospects for most of them was not pretty.

In your life, unless you are truly extraordinary you are not going to get the big rewards. The highest levels of success are only reserved for those who are the absolute best at what they do. You can be average, or above average and get along just fine –but you will never do that well. The highest rewards go to those who are extraordinary.

Being extraordinary is more than being just gifted. Once you are gifted in something you need to keep pushing yourself to do better and better. You only become extraordinary when you push and develop every muscle you need to in order to be successful. . .

. . .If you are average, you will probably not get a job. If you are good, you will not get a job at a large prestigious law firm, you will get a job at a smaller law firm. If you are extraordinary, you might get a job at a large law firm. However, once you are there you will need to continue being extraordinary to keep your job. You will need to be extraordinary compared to those you are working with who are extraordinary as well –somewhere in the neighborhood of 5% of you who are able to get jobs with large prestigious firms will probably ever be a partner in one of these firms. You will need to work harder and be smarter. If you do not think you can be extraordinary, you should stop doing what you are doing right now and do something you feel you can be extraordinary doing.

When I was in college I knew a few math geniuses. These were the sorts of kids who finished all the calculus classes in their high school when they were in ninth grade and then spent the next couple of years taking advanced classes at local colleges before they finished high school and formally enrolled in a college. Since I was in a dorm room with these guys and remembered them, I looked a few of them up recently.

One is a math professor at a good sized college and this is sort of what I would expect. He could probably have been a lot of things and he chose something that I am assuming was up his alley. After college he kept going to school and finished a PhD program at a prestigious school somewhere.

The other guy has been a journalist with a small town paper for several years. I looked up some of his articles and they do not appear that in depth or good. I am not saying there is anything wrong with being a journalist –what strikes me about this is that he is in a job that probably is not making the most of his skills. While I hate to say it, just about anyone with a high school education can put together a short article about the local gas station closing. Very few people have the ability to understand complex math and do it at such a high level.

If you’ve been doing math problems at a higher and higher level for a decade or more and spent thousands of hours doing this, it is probably not a good idea to do a 180-degree turn and do something completely different altogether. This is not going to make the best use of your skills. If you want to be incredible at something, you should continue down the path of your greatest skills.

I wonder what would have happened to this math genius if he kept pushing himself in the direction of his natural gifts. My thought is that he would probably have continued to get better and better. Instead, he has chosen something where he probably does not have the same level of innate ability.

In everything you do, you are going to get the best results if you choose something based on your strengths. The reason for this is that the rewards in life generally go to the people who are not good, or even excellent – but extraordinary. If you are going to be truly successful at something you need to be extraordinary. . .

. . .If you go to a law school that is not in the top 10, you are going to need to be in the top 50% of your class in most cases to get a job with a large law firm. There are numerous exceptions to this; however, this is the general rule and had been for some time. Some people who are not in the top 50% may be very at good interviews, good looking, have connections and so forth that enable them to get into the best firms. These are things that ultimately set them apart and make them extraordinary.

If you are coming from a top 10 law school, there is a whole pecking order of law firms as well. For example, there are very few attorneys who will get jobs at the top 5 most prestigious law firms. Certain jobs will require that students from these top law schools be at the very top of their class. Other jobs will require that students be near the top of their class. If a student from a top 10 law school is at the bottom of their class, they will likely not get a job with a large prestigious law firm –and may not get a job at all.

In life, the largest rewards go to the people who are extraordinary. You need to be truly extraordinary if you are going to get the rewards.

In the Olympics, there are gold, silver and copper medals. Everyone remembers who got the gold medal. Notwithstanding, very few people remember who got the silver and copper medal. If you are not in the top 3, you get NOTHING –no rewards whatsoever. You do not get a reward despite the fact you have to be the best in the world to even be competing in the Olympics.

One of the saddest things out there is that many people are doing the exact opposite of what they should be doing. Because they are not doing what they should be doing they tend to get the worst results possible. You should only do something where you have the chance to be extraordinary. If you cannot be extraordinary, then you are likely wasting your time.

Why pursue a career doing something where you are never going to be the best? The odds are you have some sort of skill that is truly extraordinary that the world recognizes. Why aren’t you doing that?

Life will pay any price you ask of it: If you ask intelligently. Asking of life is more about choosing what to ask than simply asking. If you are a poor writer and ask to be a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist life probably will not give you this. If you are a gifted mathematician and ask to be a noble prize winning scientist you probably stand a better chance.

Life is about focusing your efforts where you are likely to be extraordinary.

If you do a poor job you will get pain. You will lose. The world will not recognize you and you will have a hard time.

When you do a good job you get poor rewards. A copper medal in the Olympics is not something that people thrust above their head with a great deal of joy. This is a poor reward.

When you are really excellent you get good results. You may get a silver medal.

The most rewards come when you are at the level of outstanding. When you are outstanding you get all the rewards. The rewards for being outstanding are completely disproportionate.

The difference between excellent and outstanding is not that great.

The people who are outstanding are constantly demanding of themselves just a little bit more. They are able to do this because they push themselves and do things they do not want to do. The athlete practices harder. When they are competing, they reach within themselves to get even more out of themselves.

Outstanding is when you raise the example for everyone. For example, Thomas Edison raised the standard for everyone. Because he kept pushing and pushing, he was able to discover how to successfully light a room with electricity using a light bulb. Due to what he achieved everyone now has electric light. A new standard was born.

Many people in Edison’s position probably would not have continued despite all the failure he experienced. The story is that it took him 10,000 attempts before he was able to perfect the light bulb. Notwithstanding, instead of accepting that he failed 9,999 times, Edison is quoted as saying: “I have not failed. I just found 9,999 ways that do not work.”. . .

. . .I saw a 60 Minutes segment about the swimmer Michael Phelps recently. The story was incredibly interesting and talked about how at one point Phelps did not miss a daily 6:30 am swim practice for several years. Here is someone who is a naturally gifted swimmer already and yet he never missed a practice. He just kept trying to get better and better at this skill.

Could someone who was good at ice hockey suddenly switch gears and compete with a guy like Phelps at swimming? No. It would be impossible.

You need to do what you are really excellent at and then work like hell to be extraordinary. There is no other way. All the rewards go to the person who is extraordinary.

PoliticsRe: Regional Integration Will Not Solve Our Problem by isalegan2:
papatosibe: Former Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation Senator Iyiola Omisore had an interactive session with journalists at his Ile-Ife country home, Osun State on April 21. Correspondent Adesoji Adeniyi was there.

Since your exit from the Senate, not much has been heard from you, why?
I started a Ph.D programme in Belgium University. For the past five years, I have been off and on because of national assignment. Immediately I left the Senate, I have been on full-time. Now, I am on my thesis and I will finish my Thesis end of April by the grace of God. Normally, I should defend it by end of the year.
During my leisure time, I meet people like we are doing now. At the state, local and ward level, I get friendly to be aware of what is happening and of course to watch the ACN government in Osun State and see what they are doing so far.

What is your assessment of the government so far?
I have said in so many newspapers it is just a government of propaganda. That is all. There is nothing on ground. I challenge anybody to show something. Nothing particularly. Over one year now, you want to do welfare project; you want to do this and want to do that. There is nothing to show for it and it is over one year. And he collected over N72 billion from Federal Allocation account. All we hear is mega roads, mega buildings without nothing, busy grinding the state. All they are doing is owo eyo, (cowry) State of Osun, causing trouble, causing crisis everywhere, the governor fighting the Ondo State governor, causing trouble in Kogi State, just across the land generally. This shows his level of incompetence.
When we came in this morning, we noticed that you have some people around you.

It is like you are warming up for the next governorship election?
What you met this morning is just a zonal meeting. We meet regularly here; it is not about any election. We meet regularly at the zone. So, when you come next time, you will meet us again. That has been our practice. It is not about any election. Of course, when election comes we will face election. It is too early for election things now. We are busy building our party, trying to compare the two governments. You have seen PDP for almost seven years. You now see the newly imposed ACN government.

What is your position on the allegation against Governor Aregbesola?
It is not an allegation of such; it is a thing that you can see yourself. I was deputy governor 13 years ago. There are components of security – SSS, police, CIB following them but he decides to go around with thugs. When you see a governor going about with thugs, that means he is harbouring thugs and that he has his killing squad. I was told that he was training 600 people in Egypt, who are going to cause trouble in the next election.
The former election, he used the O-YES to rig the election in the state. I told people we are going to go to court. We must not see any O-YES, any O-anything in the next election. We are going to mark them. We are going to see only the police officers, the INEC officials, not all these crooks, who he calls O-YES, O-GUARD. They are using them for election rigging.

We are going to stop him in that election. He has O-YES and O-GUARD, another O-THUG is coming soon. He maintains a killer squad. That is why he doesn’t want the SSS or police to have anything to do with him. I have been there before, because the, will be writing report daily about you.
In the bid of doing that, he is hiding under the Muslim aegis of TAWUN. A governor must be decent. Why does a governor need a bodyguard or thugs to surround him? It is unethical; I’m ashamed for the state. It is not an allegation; he has not answered the question up till today.

It is now being said that the PDP is behind that security reports.
How can the PDP be behind the report? So you have not seen Aregbesola with his thugs at public functions? It’s an obvious thing now, even at Bola Tinubu’s celebration, he came with them. So, what is PDP in that one? A governor must go to public function with SSS, police or CIB.
He goes with bodyguards. These are obvious things. It is just a way out of it. Let him explain why he keeps thugs. During the last election, he was going around at night, dropping thugs at every local government. We thought it was a government’s movement, putting ammunition and thugs in ambulances, maiming our people, killing our people, causing trouble.
We are going to stop it. Any attempt by ACN to cause crisis or use thug during elections, we are going to stop them. We are just informing the public now that we won’t allow the last mess up to happen again.
Are you not a Nigerian? Is he the only governor? We have 36 governors now. Is he the only ACN governor we have in Nigeria? Bola Tinubu was governor for eight years. What has he done? He is an offshoot of Bola Tinubu. Who is Aregbesola for God sake if not that Salami forced him on the state. Who is Aregbesola? A bloody mechanic somewhere, a radio technician, radio repairer, he is an embarrassment to us in this country. If he doesn’t want to use SSS or police, let him resign. How can you be going around with thugs, putting ammunition inside ambulances and causing problems everywhere under the cover of government? We will stop the convoy. We would attack the convoy and stop him and sack all the thugs he is going about with. We expect to see SSS and the police, that’s all. If he doesn’t want that, let him drop the governor (sic). There are 36 governors in the country, why is it that he is the only one causing problem? Who is Aregbesola?
There are better governors at the Governors’ Forum, who are more intelligent and more experience. Bola Tinubu was governor for eight years; he was guarded by SSS and police, not by thugs and killer squads. Those things are not acceptable to us at all. He is a public officer; he is accountable to all of us. He can’t be using our public money to fund thugs.

It is being alleged that your hand is behind all these allegations?
Quite interestingly, I came back from the US yesterday. So, I read all these things on-line. All these things happened about two weeks ago. So, as to make good news, people would want to tie issues with a prominent person; they will say it is Omisore. It is an escapist excuse. Let the man answer the question before him that is all. I can’t be talking to Aregbesola now. What is my business with Aregbesola? We were all in Alliance for Democracy (AD), we know our levels. He was nowhere to be found when we were in AD; he was one of those boys, who used to shout outside when we were holding meetings. If it is not because of Salami that he became governor.

How best do you think the government can curb the spate of corruption in the country in view of the disclosure by House of Representatives probe?
Honestly, I was surprise because when I was the Appropriation Committee Chairman for more than four years, we were spending between N1.1 to N3 trillion or N4 trillion for four years. So when it becames N2 trillion something, I became confused, I was not sure, but I don’t know the details, I know that there is some hanky-panky along the line but I wouldn’t know the details, I can’t just speak about it because I do not know the details, I am not into it at all. If they want to know, let them go through the normal channel. It’s unfortunate; I don’t want to comment on it at all.

Do you see Governor Aregbesola as a person who is ready for the development of the state?
It’s unfortunate sha, you people will judge with time. It’s not for me to be judging anybody now. I don’t want to condemn anybody; let their work condemn them or praise anybody. But I know that God Almighty, who gives power, gives for a purpose and takes for a purpose. If you are spending people’s money and you are enjoying it today, you will meet your own in the future. Let us compare and contrast the issue of governance on ground basically.

What is your comment on the rationalisation of Federal Government agencies?
It’s the recommendation that was rationalised. What happened was that with my experience in the National Assembly, there are some agencies that do the same job. So, at the end of the day, it increases our personnel and overhead cost. So, I believe that those who will come out of service will appreciate this position as well. That is why I think that it is better to reduce the overhead cost and increase the expenditure and capital project and genuinely to moderate the existing agencies and avoid duplication. Look at NPC, NIPC and EPZ; they all look alike. The only way for us to bring down our overhead cost depends on moderate civil service if we are to meet the yearnings and aspirations of our people. The bulk of the money can now go to the capital projects. But unfortunately, immediately after the capital project, they will not do anything. We want to show a leadership by example.

As a Yoruba political leader, how would you describe the clamour for South West regional integration being championed by ACN?
In federalism, everybody looks up to the centre for so many things. Regional integration will not solve our problem here because every month, everybody goes to the national government to collect oil money. I was listening to the TV yesterday I saw Amosun who recently donated armoured vehicles to the state police and he was thanking the Federal Government that they did a waiver for him, over N1 billion. So where did he get that N1 billion from? The agitation for regional government indicates that either the agitators are myopic or selfish. That is it, because by staying out of the national government, we know what we have gone through. I have been in the AD and PDP and I know the difference, I know it is better for us to be in the mainstream of Nigerian politics; than be a sectional sect that will not pay us at the end of the day. Amosun was saying that he spent about N500 million on waivers alone at least, that would have bought four to five armoured vehicles as well. In a regional government, you cannot afford some things. It is lack of exposure of those people championing the regional integration that is the problem. I can’t really understand their problem and I won’t blame them because they lack exposure. I would have reasoned like them 12 years ago, but now I won’t reason that way because I am exposed to the national government. So, I do not blame them because it is lack of exposure.

How has your party handled the reconciliation of its members over the outcome of the last congress of the party, given that some chairmanship aspirants who endorsed Kayode Idowu have continue to boycott the party’s activities?
I don’t know what you mean by that, because Kayode Idowu that you mentioned is already working with me. And you can’t be Catholic more than the Pope. Kayode Idowu was here yesterday, but politically on an expansive thought it is possible. It takes time to come around after losing election. It’s a matter of time, we will come together and resolve all these issues and we are talking to ourselves as a family. Election is not an end in itself but a means to an end. The end is winning the government and we are all working together as one.

You seem to support mainstream politics than agitating for regional integration?
What happened was that when we were in AD, as the deputy governor of the state within the confine of our party, it was a good idea. Having been exposed to national politics for more than four years, I discovered that we were all jokers here. There is little we can do as a regional government because there are federal roads and state roads and all these things have to work together. When I was the Chairman Appropriation Committee, in the area of water, electricity, road and power supply, I know we committed more than N250 billion to start work alone and no government has done that much. ACN is a dictatorial party, a one-way party. so, I can’t blame them. Watch the change of government in 2014. It will come gradually, peacefully and democratically but if the ACN wants to cause trouble and use their killer squad, we will match them, but we would not propagate the use of thugs in the state. We are going to court to stop O-YES, O-GUARD, O-THIS, O-THUG that was what caused the damage for us in the last election, and we never suspected that they were agents of fraud and riggers.

What is your advice on Boko Haram?
When I was abroad, I learnt that the Senate discussed it at length and they came out with a resolution. The government must do something appropriately on this matter. It’s a security issue and the government must take the security report from every state of the world. The government should take a decisive step no matter whose ox is gored and stop this Boko Haram problem for the sake of our fellow Nigerians, particularly in the Northern part of the country because we do not have Boko Haram here.

http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/politics/45674-%E2%80%98regional-integration-will-not-solve-our-problem%E2%80%99.html
What we have here (in the bolded) is a dilemma, a catch-22, if you will.

On one hand, the advice to not self-isolate, is sound. No group should limit itself where political participation and influence is concerned.

On the other hand, in an environment where one party predominates in a larger area, having a wider tent, or BEING PERCEIVED to have a wider tent. . . does hitching your wagon to that party tacitly endorse turning the country into a one-party system?

Which is more dangerous for the masses in the long run?

I see this as a real dilemma. Others may not.

The simplest and most accessible example is the USA. We all know that, at the national, regional, state, and local levels, the USA is a 2-party state. There are exceptions, in minor (Green Party and Libertarian party in MN and some parts) or short-term (Ross Perot, Ralph Nader, Jesse Ventura) cases, but the Republican vs Democrat party apparatus are the predominant and consistent vehicle to any form of political power or activity in the USA. Anyone who wants to partake in politics or even, any regular person who wants his vote to count, knows from childhood that you are either one or the other. Even registered Independents are forced to choose one or the other in almost all elections - at any level - from Sheriff elections to State Representatives to, of course, Governors/President.

So, this 2-party system is already established there over many years. I personally detest this (especially as it is in the USA where the written ideologies of the 2 parties and their foreign policies are practically indistinguishable), but that is the way it is there - the way their electoral system has evolved.

But, going by the contentions of the subject of the opening post, if we decide to follow his advice and start supporting this other party in large numbers, is there not a risk of strengthening an already strong and overly-influential entity?

What happens to the balance of power, what happens to the adversarial system in legislature where the partisan competition and challenges can often serve as a check on the majority party?

There are so many issues one could bring into the discussion. . .

But, overall, Yes, it is a good proposal that no region wants to put all its egg in one political party (again, think of USA Blacks and their 90% enslavement to Democrats), but, there is a risk of creating a stronger dominating, and ultimately, totalitarian one-party system.

The happy medium would be an emergence of more diverse party affiliations in all regions. A good representation of various ideologies and political movement wouldn't hurt and may bring more competition and ensure wider voter participation with better candidates.

I am sure, for many, this debate is not over by a long shot.

alj harem: Na wa o !

I no fit find letter angry
lol. Alhaji, you're three-much! grin cheesy

On topic, if someone is befuddled about a trained engineer choosing to be addressed by his deserved title which he spent years training and paying for, how would you feel about janitors who are addressed as engineers? Yes, in the good ol' USA, for those who are convinced the USA is free of sensitivity to formal titles. lol.

Imagine an inquiry regarding prospective applicants' criteria for an engineering position that gets the following response from the recruiter: ". . . hmm, actually, no, the 'building engineers' candidates are not 'civil engineers' or any kind of engineers. . . no, they're rarely college-educated; often they will have no high school diploma either. . . yes, their duties is to clean the toilets, offices and pick up trash. . . yes, we call them building engineers or custodial engineers now. . ." lol.

It's the same USA where people are almost always addressed by their expired title, e.g., governor, senator, etc., especially on television. Even when they have not held the position for years!

lol. (i imagine this is) so true. but its the reverse after childbirth: a new mom usually will want her mother. . . his mother. . . any mother. . . to stay with ya till at least 3 months after the birth.

Shrine of the Black Madonna
Jennie Sykes Knight, Emory University

The Shrine of the Black Madonna in Atlanta was founded as the ninth congregation of the Pan African Orthodox Christian Church in 1975. The denomination was originally founded in the 1950s by the Holy Patriarch Jaramogi Abebe Agyeman (born Albert B. Cleage Jr., the father of writer Pearl Cleage) in response to the theological, spiritual, and psychological needs of the African American people of Detroit, Michigan.

The church's central theological belief is that God supports the freedom of African Americans from all forms of oppression. Jesus is called the "Black Messiah." The Hebrew nation of the Bible is understood to be a black nation. While Jesus is viewed as the savior of black people, he is also seen as the savior of all humankind. He who supports all struggles for liberation.
The congregations were named after the Black Madonna to emphasize the point to members that the mother of Jesus was black, to recognize other images of the Black Madonna that are worshipped around the world, and to honor black women. Belief in a black savior and madonna helps to counteract the damage of what the denomination calls AMBI: acceptance of the myth of black inferiority.

In 1975 around forty members (all between the ages of eighteen and thirty) left Detroit to found a new congregation in Atlanta. By 1996 Shrine 9 had approximately 500 members. After leadership changes during that year, and the death of the founder in February 2000, the membership declined to approximately 200 members by 2001. However, the membership is still very active and committed to maintaining its traditions and the vision of their founder.

Worship services combine elements from Roman Catholic, charismatic, and African traditions. The congregation observes eleven sacraments. The Eucharist is practiced as the "Sacrament of Commitment." The emphasis of this ritual is upon committing oneself to serve sacrificially and to walk in the steps of Jesus.

Training in the arts of Pa-Kua, which includes such ancient practices as meditation, yoga, and tai chi chuan, helps members of Pan African Orthodox congregations to integrate their minds, bodies, and spirits. This integration is deemed necessary in order to heal the long-term fragmentation in the black communities resulting from the traumas of slavery and oppression.

Social services and the education of children are central to the Atlanta church. The shrine operates the West End Learning Center and the Shrine Cultural Center and Bookstore. The West End Community Services Center, which opened in September 2001, offers referral services to doctors, lawyers, and other volunteer professionals, as well as direct aid to residents of Atlanta's West End. The learning center teaches children about their cultural and religious heritage, as well as computer skills and other academic subjects. Similarly, the goal of the bookstore and cultural center is to promote knowledge of African and African American heritage and art.

One of the shrine's main concerns is the Beulah Land Farm Project. The goals of this Shrine-owned farm in Abbeville County, South Carolina, are to provide food for urban communities and to open a retreat center and a boarding school on the land. The Beulah Land Farm Project embodies the shrine's values of self-sufficiency and communal living for African Americans.

Foreign AffairsRe: Who Would Be Obamas Opponent In 2012 by isalegan2: 2:23am On Apr 30, 2012
For the Repubs, it's going to be a repeat of '96 election, with Dole beating more invigorating and inspiring candidates like former TN governor Lamar Alexander to the nomination, for no reason other than it was "his time." What they got was a sound defeat by the sleazy Bill Clinton, treating us to the Lewinsky scandal a year later.

Willard Mitt Romney? Really? Why? That wishy washy flip-flopping empty vessel is toast. I didn't expect Obama to win, but now, I am convinced he will. Romney simply does not inspire the true believers of his party, and they will not be motivated to go all out.

One more term for Obomber. Maybe now he will actually keep some of the promises he made to his core supporters. undecided
RomanceRe: Is It A Bad Thing To Date A Muslim by isalegan2: 12:55pm On Apr 28, 2012
Bukittes: Been there, done that, seen that and i really dont have regrets getting out. I have met Muslims that were really nice in my life - 2 prescisely! One i dated for like 11yrs cos we started from secondary school till we both graduated and the other I met after sometime again and dated for like 3yrs. When the issue of marriage comes up I always bail out cos ab-initio, i tell them i cannot marry a non - Christian. Its never been easy o cos i loved them both and they were nice and right for me in all ramification but u see morality can't be traded for salvation and moreso religion is a way of life and the best way u know is the one u have treaded all ur life. I believe in my religion and will not compromise it even for marriage, cos at the end its not really worth it cos u can't get all the fulfillment u desire in a marriage. Marriage has its own challenges and why should I open my eyes and enter into a battle I know I can never win as a woman? Please be guided and choose for your life what's most important. I commend you to God and His guidance.
You "dated" someone for 11 years knowing full well you had no intention of marrying him, because you love your lord and can never compromise your religion? So many inconsistencies here. I will let you find them. lol.
RomanceRe: How Do I Convince This Girl To Accept My Proposal. by isalegan2: 12:29pm On Apr 28, 2012
The first girl lied to you, and that made you pursue her to her home, only to be told she already has a serious boyfriend who has paid visits to her parents? Am I missing something? She was on a dating site too. For how long after she already had a boyfriend, no? Maybe I'm missing something. I cannot abide a deceitful person. What is wrong with the second girl? I can't bear to read again. Sorry.

Good luck, bro.
