On the home page, this topic, "A Blogger's Positive Review Of Nairaland's New Look" takes me to a whole 'nother site. I don't like to be redirected to another site without forewarning. I expected, as usual, that clicking on the link would open a thread within Nairaland.com. What is Seun doing? |
i beg of you, don't do it. you'll be humiliated. pull her aside. or send a female friend to entice her away from the pack, and then make your pitch. |
I checked out the site, ready to unleash on them myself. lol. http://www.sowetanlive.co.za/news/2012/03/08/south-africa-apologises-to-nigeria?filter=all_comments But the newest comments/posters are relatively calm and reasonable in their delivery. It was the first group of posters that made all those incendiary remarks. Of course it could be they backed off only after a few headstrong Naijas went after them. A SA poster named Dzel seem to be quite reasonable though. He's having a mature diplomatic discourse with a couple of the Naijas still in it. lol. It looks like there's lots of brats and hateful people there simply trolling all day long, e.g., cussing out Mandela's daughter for no reason I could see. http://www.sowetanlive.co.za/columnists/2011/02/08/what-cheek-zenani |
andromida: ![]()
Okay. . . I need to be honest. My girl and I have been dating since the late '05. I've introduced her to my older siblings, not as a "future wife" or anything, but as a girlfriend at the time (you know what I mean), . . What if she's lost her ability to have a child? How would I know? I don't want to ask her these troubling questions, but I also don't want to live without this vital info. Please, ladies and enlightened peeps, are there any 'physical signs' through which I can find out? Abeg, I no wan chop disgrace
You've been seeing her for 6 years and you never thought to ask all the questions you would need to know from a potential spouse. Unfuckingbelievable!!! What kinda world are you living in? I concede I am old school; My apologies. Carry on. ![]() |

I'm glad everyone is feeling better. I was very worried about Ivynwa, but I expect she is better now as well. Wish it turned out differently for Perx. Best wishes and thanks to all that tried to help her one way or the other. That's all I got. I guess the thread lives on for a while. ![]() |

So long, Perx. Not sure why her picture, and personal info about her family members, are being shared here. Did she or her people okay that? ![]() |
Ctemi, Sorry for your trouble. You may want to start a little business with the little cash you can get from your family. Anything can grow into a bigger business for you. Best wishes. |
OP, Buy 3 cans of Raid, go sit down with them when they're doing their old people talk-fest, and hand a can to each of them. You can tell them that "with this spray, the mosquitoes in your house will not live more than 2 days, but most of them can survive for 2 weeks." |
Ah! Can't modify in this section. Anyway, I was only kidding. No offense. ![]() I think I actually owned a similar pair of those school shoes you're sporting. |
ojogbontomoye:Is that you in your profile? You were such a happy kid! What happened? |
LOL. I think that's the same baby. ![]() Anyway, if not for my bountiful hair, my Unclad head looks somewhat like the one on the left, and I'm not Igbo. I think mine is flatter on the top. ![]() Stereotypes galore! ![]() |
If you take a second look at my post you'll note that there is nothing elitist about it. My idea raises billions of naira that would go towards educating the electorate who continue to be marginalized by you people in power. No one will come forward and say only people who have N10m can vote, that is not practical. Truth be told, the idea of universal suffrage is harmful to Nigeria, given the level of illiteracy and lack of education.
I'll have you know that my people avoid government/political office like the plague. Ndu Chucks, don't let us fight o! Watch yourself. Don't make me break the fourth wall and reveal too much o. . . . You know, deep down, that the 80-90% of the electorate in Nigeria do not need to be voting at all. If you doubt me, just look at the crop of leaders elected in Nigeria. If it sounds better, lets call it educational polling fee instead of a tax.The general populace voting, or improper selections is not the problem. You know there are bigger powers at play. P.S. It is impossible to become a billionaire in Nigeria without thinking outside the box. Gba be!OK. Don't forget your Nairaland buddies who knew you when. ![]() That name is intrinsically Nigerian. Ah Ah, Ṣe iwo mo ọmọ Ghana kan kan t'onjẹ Ndu ni?Banning your questionable name is just as fair as taking away poor people's rights. ![]() |
One of the reasons why we continue to elect incompetent criminals in Nigeria is because 80% of the electorate is illiterate, uneducated, and poor beyond belief. Most of these people will vote for the candidate who pays them N500 on voting day. These people do not understand the issues and for the most part do not even know what's in their own best interests. The solution is to introduce a N5,000 poll tax. If you can't afford to pay this fee you should not be allowed to vote and this idea will eliminate the customary buying of votes by corrupt officials. The N6billion collected during each elected cycle, should be set aside for the education of these unqualified electorate. By the next election cycle, we'll have more qualified people to vote. I'm assuming here that official will collect N7billion and steal N1billion.
How elitist can you get?So what, they do not "understand the issues"? They understand enough to vote for the guy who pays them. lol. They know enough to look out for their interest by not biting the hands that feeds them. Maybe what they're doing is prioritising, just like you're doing. All kidding aside, your ideas are very dangerous. You want citizens to be penalized for being in the underclass? You're asking that the electorate pay a punitive fee before they can exercise their rights? Do you know the meaning of universal suffrage? You want to take that away and try what the Americans tried againt free Blacks during Jim Crow - Poll tax? Let's disenfranchise anyone who does not have enough money or who did not go to the right school and have the right education? What if someone came along and said only people who have 10 million naira in their bank accounts can exercise the right to vote? And, oh, by the way and just for kicks, we won't allow anyone named Ndu Chucks to vote either; what a thoroughly indecipherable name. A Poll Tax! I never! ![]() |
Tehn is the NL charity committee, right? Idowuogbo:What does the above mean? I don't speak Badosky, please. I don't understand 1/3 of your posts, to be honest. ![]() Idowuogbo: ![]() |
Idowuogbo: I'll have you know I am twice OAM4J's age. What's 80 x 2 anyway? All these new math nowadays! ![]() |
OAM4J:hahahahaha! FAIL! ![]() It's that word elderly that got me. Nairaland will not kill me o. I need to hurry up and develop my own site where all the elderlies can get together and do what elderly folk do. ![]() |
Lawd ha'mercy! ![]() Tunji I advised you offline and told you most members of Tehn are elderly so watch ur tongue, but for u to pounce on OAm4 like dat is extremely sickening,I certainly won't let u get away with it NO WAY!!!.Tunji I dont expect a paragraph justifying ur actions, and I don't really wanna hear ur usual stunts,I just wish u would accept some posts are FACTS.U are not d son of Moses so pls apply silence when due.The "Peace!" at the end makes everything all right. ![]() BTW, is OAM4J also "elderly"? ![]() |
. . . there is something in Isale Gangan neighborhood that equips its natives early on for broad and proficient understanding of politics and politicking.
It's in the blood, bros. My side of Isale Gangan are more judiciary-inclined though. ![]() So, like I said, I think we might be related. ![]()
^ Iyalode, Feisty much? ![]() But the majority are not even deciding things here. How can we make that better? Anyway I really don't mind Monarchy as long as the kings can sign a release to drink poison every 5 years. We don't want a possible lunatic ruling forever and No, they can't handover to their sons. Daughters maybe
hahahaha. Yes, I meant QUEEN, of course. I had to be subtle nau. You don't want the subjects to know you have designs on the crown ya own self. Kilode?! Kilode?! Kilode?! I ![]() |
Wow! Arsenal came close. How many goals did they need to make it? |
Hmmm. I see a lot of hand-wringing and head-tapping here. lol. The word overwrought comes to mind. Posters are approaching this issue from their own orientation and you can see their perspective in their posts. The psychologically and sociologically bent are blaming the masses and highlighting their shortcomings. The economist-type guys who are all about supply and demand with their survival of the fittest scarcity-demand laissez faire bullrot (Ekt bear thinks like one ) are always so condescending and see the masses as incidentals and unworthy of making the right choices for their lives. Then you have your real science guys and your journalist types. . . My head is reeling. To top it off, people over-emphasise what should be a simple thing. DEMOCRACY simply means the Rule of the Majority. No more no less. A mob grabs someone on the street and the majority are braying for his blood, and the few people whose conscience are still intact plead for calm and they're shouted down by the majority? That's also democracy. The right of the few who are trying to get heard? That's republicanism. That victim that's about to get lynched? He's also hoping his right will be respected. When the majority get their way, the highly vaunted DEMOCRACY has prevailed! How'd you like them apples? That in a nutshell is Democracy. It is not always the best. It is not this high-faluting moral superiority only meant for the college-educated or the smartest of the smart. Neither does it mean what the Americans want us all to believe - their own democracy is not even a true democracy. When was the last time the presidency was decided on popular votes If it so happens, it was incidental. Their own elections are decided on electoral votes, so who are these low-esteemed Africans who are always using the USA as the blueprint for what is right and just in any society? Give us a break! There is nothing special about Democracy. What you want is a democratic republic. And the Republic part of it is the most important. Anyway, I myself choose a Monarchy where I get to install the king. ![]() PhysicsQED:I love this guy! Thank you. It's the fallback mode for most Naijas now. "Let's bust it all up." lol Sorry, Kilode?! ![]() |
