. I agree with you that he should not depend on Mikel. Infact I tell people never to rely on a friend or brother who is financially buoyant. Hustle for yourself. It gives you dignity. However, it is not appropriate to abandon your loved ones if you have the means to help them.

Yea you are right. What you said is in line with Proverbs 20:1. The portion calls wine a ridiculed or mocker. However, the bible does not outrightly condemn the consumption of wine. This implies that anything that will bring reproach on the God we serve, like the misuse of alcohol, we want to avoid it. It also presupposes that we avoid becoming addicted to alcohol. An alcohol addict is not only a man who falls on the gutter after consuming alcohol. A person can still be an addict if he can't do anything without taking alcohol, even though it doesn't make him misbehave. This does not bring glory to God. Modesty also requires that I carefully determine when to take alcohol. For example, if I want to go out to preach to people and my mouth starts oozing with alcohol, that is not decent enough, cos not everyone feel comfortable With that smell. So the long and short of it all is that, while God's word does condemn the drinking of alcohol, moderation should be employed.
