Wow, Wow The poems are coming in. Who said that Achebe died? He got born again. He just started a new life. I mean new lives. |
AFRICA: Achebe's master shot. You lived among us. Walked on our sands Shared in our lives Rejoiced with us. Then You watched the red owl awake. Saw your people maltreated and Ikemba stood . Witnessed the boodshed and massacres, Felt the passion of the hatred that simmered in some hearts Cried at the sight of your maciated and starved siblings. Stared at genocide and anarchy unleashed on your land And You arose and swore that you must tell You told, You wrote Your chalks moved on boards, the young mounted up with wings You put pen to paper and the world went agog Ink was your sword Words were your paints Eternity was your canvass Aha! Africa came alive to the world. The earth buzzed like a market day As many joggled and haggled The picture of Africa they heard but have never seen They hang it on their walls, shake heads and marvel Africa seen through your eyes inspired them anew In awe they gazed from afar. Wincing and pondering on it's shades of dark Behold! The owl that migrated has found its way home again Omens of an oil bean pod (ukpaka) it brought Blown up carcases strewn on the land, Streams of Blood from the bigot's ablutions Yet the world watches again Today they said that you passed away I nodded but replied that you live forever As u go to rest in his bossom. May the love that you inspired in hearts Cause God to arise and fight for us Chinualuanyi Ogu, that is your name. |
Nwanne mmadu Anaaaa!(Our brother has goooone) Ife melu! |
jcgodfrey: Things fall apartI like this much, Achebe's death has the prolific writers writing. Even in death he inspired pens to move on paper and bring words to life. #Only-a-great-man-inspires-and-achieves-in-death. |
biolabee: Thanks ma.. i love that book, ditto Man of the People, Arrow of GodWe indeed lost a gem, my brother. |
biolabee: i wrote it ma.. its not really a poem but my collection of poignant parts in his greatest work - Things Fall ApartYou mean that you wrote this---- I remember the vanquishing of Amalinze the CatIf you are the writer. It's a good work, you brought the fiction in Achebe's book to life for the second time after Achebe first made them come alive with words. |
biolabee: Who wrote what. sorry i dont get ur questionThe great poem, my brother. |
I remember the vanquishing of Amalinze the CatWho wrote that? Do they want us to cry more reading that, it is lovely but too heart rending for this moment. The brain that conceived all of that and brought it to life with words is no more. No more! |
I can't even eat anymore, came in----ate my food half way and then saw this. It can wait another day right now. |
Please let's hold our heart together, don't let people that laugh in your face over our loss add more pain to your sorrows. Keep it together, let's keep it together. |
What a time to die! His parting shots were embers of discord sown into the minds of Igbos. I hope he had time to repent from all the bitterness he harboured in his last days. Those are bandwagons not needed in heaven. I'm sure he knows better now. A great writer no doubt! May his soul rest in peace.
What a time indeed! I am still mad mad angry over the way they bombed that Kano bus parks and humans and vehicles in it headed to South East, and he has to die now of all times. Na Wa o. |
Obiagu1: When Soyinka passes on, Nigeria will be left with no one.Are you telling me, now don't even mention that cause we can't handle all of that. Soyinka will live long for us, the whiteness of his gray testifies to that. Let's leave that discussion for another day cause right now it's sadidy sadidy. Biko what did they say that happened to our Achebe? Achebe Nwannem! Ewooooo. |
He showcased African culture through prose at a time when it was especially hard to do so. Inspired a generation of African writers who may not even have had cause to write if not for him. Also see African Writers Series, which helped propel and provide daily bread for other legendary writers who are respected till today. His work was translated Into the screen, which gave birth to the careers of veteran actors such as Edochie. He is one of the few reasons to be proud of Nigeria in international circles. He has left a real measurable and substantive legacy in his field that is felt until today. The same cannot be said for any Nigerian politician in the field of politics.
Do you know how long I have been longing to write a great work that will bring our (culture, village life, idioms, local lifestyle) to life because of how much he inspires me. I am Achebe's number one fan and now I have suffered a big loss. How can we say "Rippy" to Onye dika Achebe. I am not saying that, he will always live in my heart. |
Nwanne mmadu Anaaaa!(Our great brother is gone) Achebe m ji eme onu Anaana!(Our great brother that I make mouth with is gone). Mmhhh |
How are the mighty fallen kwanu bikonu? Jesus Christ! |
![]() Did they say that my inspiration is gone! Ife Emeeeeeeeeee. |
tchidi: Ngwa, Niger nko? I fit hide there?Tchidi my hand no dey-o-o. Anyway we fit---------e-e-e-em e-e-e-em "Hope Pendo is not still there". whispers to Tchidi "We fit win". Now Pendo is gonna be mad at me. lol lol ![]() |
pendo89: A nigerian made contact with me from this nl.He is in Kenya working on contract and he is such a nice guy.Told me there are many of them in Kenya.Haha abeg that "refugee" part we reject am -o. Have a great evening/I mean "night" okay Baby. Hoping to bump into you again in NL. You've been scarce these days. Kinda missed ya. Later. pendo89: Is this match still on by the way? I think it should be called offNow don't talk about stopping that match, you sure don't know how much these same kenyan/Naija boys are looking forward to this Match. Don't spoil their fun joor. |
tchidi: If we make all this noise and Kenya knack us on saturday ehn......na to run go hide for chad till everytin settle down.Tchidi you dey funny o-o. Wetin person dey find jump Boko Haram boys jump enter chad? You no love yourself? |
Shouldn't they have been given a better field to practice on? the national stadium is there etc. pendo89:Yeah, that's my embarrassment too which is why I told them that we are one African people and shouldn't mock ourselves. I saw a group of four persons in the mall last sunday, one looked familiar like a Nigerian I know. I said hi and when I realized that they are Ghanaians we all greeted with much warmth. If I open my door right now and meet a Kenyan, I will be glad to see my fellow African person and won't ever dream of belittling such in tweets and such. Africans have been through a lot, have come a long way and shouldn't be caught abusing themselves especially the part about body structure. Tasteless dissings there. They should stop. Anyhow I consider that . kid's play and it shouldn't be taken on. Hope you are good dearie? |
pendo89: Honestly a lot of energy is being spent dissing each other instead of being creative and making money.Typical of us Africans.Pendo Baby! Don't take them on. Don't study/mind these young Naija & Kenyan boys and their tweets. You no say no tweet on earth will cut my admiration for you my Kenyan sis. |
Gunu ka O yi na ukwu ife afu(what is he wearing as shoes)? The king of controversy himself. #Respectthat |
I saw the Naija tweets, they shouldn't talk down on these Kenyans for their looks and have-nots. We are all one African people biko. |

ogugua88: Lmaooooo. I don't snatch. I'm not interested in him like that anyway. I have my own ChineduJust kidding, Girl. |
Meddler: The bolded part made me laughMeddler please send me a link to the loc blog you mentioned okay. A good loctician is good to use but you can start the process in any salon with plaiting and there are simple salons that can help you part and neaten it up from time to time. The route I want to take is use such attachments like the afro kinky and fix a short single/single plaiting (the type we call bob marley ) as a start up and from time to time getS it primmed, new undergrowth parted neatly and twisted in a salon. It will be constantly washed of course and just give it time to grow out and lock up nice. |
ugoani: sincerely speaking the state of insecurity in this nation have transcend when we will be using social media like nairaland for mere ethinic or tribal abuse to using it to share contructive ideas that can enable us fight these monster among us with their cohurt politiciansYou made much sense brother, the energy and time spent on tribal bickerings here is actually of the proverbial statements "Ndi Ulo ha na agba oku, ha na achu ngwere"(People whose house is burning and they are busy chasing lizards). Shouldn't we all be putting heads together to make constructive suggestions about these broad day light murders going on in our country instead of the tribal e-fights. |
ogugua88: No baby. That was a rumor. You mean that after that their Baby news gave you hypertension that it was a rumour after all. ![]() Nne make you try flex small o-o, you fit still succeed snatch her from Flavour but Babe fine sha o-o. I'm not sure that Flavour fit look you sef with all that bobinas/b-oobs she has flying in his face in that picture. Hahaha. |
I feel like rolling on the floor and LMSAO right now. ![]() Don't tell me that my reverse psychology worked after all & the cyberbully got shut up without much effort. Bullies sure are weaklings that get scared when their object of bully stares them back in their eyeball.

What 3-days mourning are they still sitting there and doing? It should be 3-days exodus from the North. I didn't find that bomb blast funny at all, Imagine the intensity of their passion for us southerners that made them bomb the Igbos in vehicles headed to south East and they want us to smile in the faces of everybody in this country. |
