FamilyRe: Issues In My Marriage by Ivynwa(f):
This post is missing some elements.
The way it started showed that there's no good relationship between poster and her sister in laws. Why isn't there peace and love (same love that you have for your own sisters) between you and your SILS? If they are not as mature as you are,it isn't impossible to exercise patience with them and cunningly yet wisely get all of you to be on friendly terms. It will be a lovely thing if you and those SILS are great friends that gist, relates good, share and laugh etc

If you are in good/sweet terms with those girls, it won't irk you one bit that they take food from the pot without telling you first. The reason that got to you is because there is animosity going on already. It is not healthy to have such persons that you are not on good terms with in your home in the first place, as she is your SIL and should you have made effort to relate good and did not succeed with that you can't refuse her entrance in her brother's house but you shouldn't have allowed her get to you to that extent knowing that it will all go down if you do. See the mess (the brewing animosity between you and the SIL)caused, you were so caught up with putting her in her position and paying her back in her animosity coins that you all mashed on your marriage which you should have guarded against.

I am sure that when your sister or your mother or your mother-in-law are in your house that they don't come running to take permission to get food. Why do your SILS need to come and get permission to get food? How about if the person is very hungry and you gave such a portion that wasn't enough, I guess the person should return to you and tell you that she wants some more food. When they come visiting on a day you are at work or out of the house, shouldn't they eat? Should they come and tell you at work or call you first to let you know that they want to eat? How does that make you feel being in such mundane/trifle control of ordinary food? Do they have to tell you when they want water and juice too? Why not? These girls may have been visiting your husband/their brother when you were not married to him and may have cooked and served themselves, now that you are married to their brother do you have to alienate them like that? Put yourself in their position and see whether you will like to be treated like that.

I am not supporting the way your husband is getting on with it if he got violent on you. I am not supporting that your sister in law should do "don't u know who we are" for you. You just didn't handle things good and they got out of hand, so tell me how will all of you be looking like talking to relatives(called to be peacemakers) and getting on and on about-------"She went and took food without telling me"---"She stopped eating my food"------"Husband collected the food and gave to her to feed so and so"-----"They were lying on my bed" etc etc (if you are friends with them, you all can chill on your bed and chat and laugh and it won't matter when they sleep on your bed)

Girl pull yourself together and find peace among you all, soft words achieve a lot. Use the wiles of womanhood that you have in you and you will be amazed at how peaceful everything will be.If you make that effort and the SILs are not co-operating, you now have the good sense to not let them get to you because your marriage is important to you. How did a foody issue get so blown up that you are now getting on like "somebody may leave in a stretcher" if your child gets taken from you? Who is taking your child woman, please chill and see how you can turn things around for good. Which man will feel happy and comfortable when the wife is alienating his sisters in his home? You sure have issues here, issues you and your SILs contributed to. Try correcting the issues dear and voila! there is peace in your home. You can do that!
FamilyRe: My Story, Women And Men, Read And Learn From It. by Ivynwa(f): 6:27pm On Apr 17, 2012
I sympathise with what you are going through Cassa.
If I were you I won't fold my hands and allow some fr*eaking people come in between my marriage.
I will fight for the peace and sanity of my marriage, by fighting I don't mean physical altercation.
How on earth and who in this age still throws two women(ibiriachis) together in one house in the name of marrying two wives. People that do that have the decency nowadays to make diffferent homes for the women.

What kind of living will it be for you to be waking up everyday in that house in such triangular marriage? Do they know what they are starting at all? They may be starting a war that may take heads if care is not taken. Give it months and years and some bad/negative feelings may start driving some to using poison and visiting herbalists and the negative vibes/badtalking and malice that will be garnishing it all.
REFUSE HER ENTRANCE IN YOUR HOME. Let him go and make another home for her. If they tell you that you have no right to be there for having no child tell them that the marriage certificate didn't state so and that you will still have kids for your husband.
How on earth are they sure that the child is that of your husband's with the way stuffs are happening nowadays?

This is the second or third time that I am mentioning that married women should be careful about bringing ladies into their homes or even business, it is true that a man can still do this with strangers if not the persons around you yet it is better women have their eyes open with things happening around them with regards to their husband. It is not about being insecure , it is about using one's brain, making it work for you in such a way that moves are detected earlier and curtailed in time.

Girl, sit down and work out the peace of your marriage. Don't allow strangers to come in and walk all over you like that and take over your home, bed, sanity, dignity, man---almost everything. How can one survive this ordeal? What the *!!!
FamilyRe: Help Me I'm Too Lazy by Ivynwa(f): 5:19am On Apr 12, 2012
Be the man.
Set goals for your self, strive towards it, set your mind on it, be positive about it and you will achieve it.

On a lighter note "Start exercising", when I don't feel as flexible and agile as I should I know that it's time to hit the gym.
You wake up fit and flexible and ready to take on the world -----with no goals before you and a very energetic body ready to move mountain what can you do if not find some favorite pastime to expend your energy in so you need to set goals (Is it a job, your business that you are determined to grow, a house that you are working hard to build up, your family that you are taking care of) etc You go boy!

I also learnt from a (stop procastination book) that you can make a TTD (Things to do) List and seriously follow it up etc. Flex your will, get off your b*tt! Do that dance! Now don't mind bubbly me! (What dance? huh!) Smile grin grin
FamilyRe: Seriously Contemplating A Divorce by Ivynwa(f):
ronkebp: My dear, i don't think your hubby does not love you i think he has a picture of what he wants his wife to be or look like, sometimes it is realistic while majority of the times, it is very unrealistic.

we all as human beings have expectations of others, and that is why we stress so much on those things that do not really matter and focus on vain things.
I will want you to do away with the thoughts of leaving your hubby, this problem can be really handled. He complains about the way you look, what do you wear that is so offensive to him?, how do you look that he does not like?, how comfortable are you with your own looks?, your hair what do you do to them? you might think you are trying your best to make things work by doing all the wrong things, How sociable are you?, too sociable or too timid? Your cooking, i don't know how to advice you on that, i don't know if it is too much salt or too much pepper, or too much oil?? Sex!!! that one, every married woman, has to be a sophisticated LovePeddler in bed, i don't care how you do it, you have to learn all the bed tactics ever, (can you know all? mbanu!! but you will be pretty good).

Your hubby, is seeing other women and wives and probably comparing and contrasting. (for people with over bogus eyes, i don't mean having an affair oooo, i mean to look, see, ( what are those synonyms gan sef?) ).
This poster said it from the three angles it has been summarized for women from old-------
" A wife should be
-a queen(a good/neat/well dressed housekeeper)in the sitting room.
-a cook (creates her recipes, reads up recipes, is adventourous in the kitchen, cooks what pleases the taste buds of her husband) in the kitchen and
-a wh*re
(satisies her husband and gets satisfied by the husband ,abi? spontaneity, creativity, romantic) in the bedroom" Hey! If you run out of ideas, go online and find millions of things to spice up your marriage with. WORK ON YOUR MARRIAGE, GIRL.

@NNNEKA2015
Madam Nneka (if that is your real name) do yourself a favour and remove the profession of your husband and the name of his company from your post, you don't want your neighbour Mama Ngozi (hahaaaa grin) or Sexy Sandra(any of the ladies working in same company as your husband heheheee grin) or even people you want to keep your private life away from reading about you and your husband's love/s*x life in nairaland. I hope that isn't your real name too, not that you shouldn't do what you want with your name but there may come a time you will wish you never used your real name here.

agiboma: @ Op there is hope, dont give up on your marriage I have been told all the things your hubby has said to you and much worse. Just talk to hubby dont get angry or give him attitide it will only make matters worse. Marriage and relationships are hard they require daily work, encouragement and nurturing. It does get better i promise when the two people are working on the relationship together, let me tell you my marriage a few months ago was miserable, i felt the same way like you, but lately i am living with the man i fell in love with many years ago things have changed in him and in me, we now actually enjoy each others company. We talk and have fun together. It also helps when you make yourself up and you look HOT and go to a party and the magazine photographers want to take your picture lol, yeah that makes hubby realize real fast that your still HOT and so desireable grin grin grin. This happened to me last 2 weeks and I tell you woman it was a great feeling. Listen woman dont divorce your husband work on your marriage.

FamilyRe: Wife Feels Unconcerned About Husband's Nightmare by Ivynwa(f): 5:55pm On Apr 10, 2012
Some dreams are not to be taken seriously because they came about from thoughts and figments of our imagination.
You can have a certain longings or thoughts in your mind during the day and when you are sleeping those figments will replay as dreams. I don't attibute much to dreams. If the dream is a bit negative, all I do is pray much against that.

REALITY101: I ain't gonna curse you ou nor get mad at you. I owe no explanation or whatsoever to you or anyone here. I didnt bring this topic up to mock her I swear to you. I am not evil, heartless and I sure not Saint Machael. I was on a different thread when I saw her thread at the bottom of that current thread so I clicked without knowing the starter. My 1st comment on this thread came with sense of humor n piece of joke, not joke about what she passed thru in her family rather about the dude she went to visit.

She poked me by calling me names as usual with no reasons. So Ms. Judge I hit back. Now you get it?

About Nigerians being insensitive or whatever, thats bullshit because thats not in anyway me being whatever you call it. I was born in England, with em white kids around and racism, i was tot to stand my ground irrespective of who or where and I still stand on it as I grow. . Yeap. Not to physical abuse a woman tho.

This chick has been poking me calling me names which I have no problem with because she don't know shit bout me nor anyone here and none the bullshits here get off of my computer or cell phone into me.

So yall need to learn how to take some shot when send one out.

@apology? Like seriously I have no problem apologizing to her if me re-opening this thread refreshed her past. And seriously I had absolutely nothing on my mind when I first commented on this thread.

Hmm just coming in from Church and with the church spirit still me imma say "I'm sorry for saying em things that I said to her" smiley hope she understand. kiss

Mr Reality Sir, I don't mean to bring you down sweetie, it just sucks big time to me when I see people offering advice and (shoulders to lean on) to their fellow nairalanders when they bring their problems to the forum only to turn around hours, days, weeks, months even years later to begin to mock these same people with their problems. It is the lowest any human being can stoop to really. How can a gentleman like you find it in you to mock this young lady with the pains she had growing up? It is very insensitive of you, are we Nigerians that insensitive that I see these things happening in this forum?

I don't care what anybody says about me when I broach this subject, I already made enemies here in nairaland from kicking against that and I don't give a damn. If you want to get angry and mad at me too and begin to curse out, you can do that. I have my way of handling people that do that. All i need do is jump your posts that way such persons can never never get to me with their words. I am sure you understand that what you did is unpretty and chill and even apologise to her.

@La Parisienne
You should have ignored it all from the start and you won't have to be trading insults with him like that. Don't allow people bring you down to their level if the level they chose is wallowing in the gutter of abusing people/bitterness and negativity.

Jay Alex: I thank you all for the support and varied views..to the singles i urge you to pray hard for God's guidance and strength when the time comes to get married, things are never never as simple as there seem,My wife and I talked about this issue and yes she confirmed, that time was back then, when she was broken in her heart and cried about the situation and my friend held her and consoled her, but for her, there wasn't really any sexual expressions, intent or purpose and the so-said ''being into'' did not exceed the hug and kiss on the forehead(still grave by my view!)..but then she's learn't from that era,and we'v been getting better by the day, ever since that incident. She's been an exceptional mother and a good woman, she told me---------'s wife said he's been sought of depressed lately, disconnected sometimes, prays more often and suprisingly paid back money he signed for a work-travel he did not undertake one year ago, back to he's company just last week, apparently the same period he told me about my wife, whatever's burdening his heart, that makes him seek redemption at all cost, must really be eating him up...Tomorrow,i'll meet up with him and make him tell me,what it is..i guess that's what friends are for..and for my wife? i can only hope i find no reason to seek an advice on her behalf in the future!
It's good to hear that it was an innocent consolation as I said that it may be.
We should give people a benefit of the doubt sometimes.
Even if the man lost his head while the "consolation" was going on, a woman that did not give in to that enough to not sleep with him is loyal to her spouse.
Hey Sir Alex, please do your friend a favour and remove his name from your last post okay.I will also advise that you contain it all and not let it spread to your friend's wife too. I'm sure you now know to pull your family together better. Wishing you good luck and happiness with your wife.

Just as women are good home keepers, they manage and keep the affairs of their nations better when at the helm of affairs.

Phonon: He should name one of his sons Dickson, McBalls or Randy!
grin grin grin
For real?

I appreciate his music and his achievements but I pity his love life. Children are gifts from God no doubt but the way he had them spread around is liable to making one's life miserable. What with these women that will definitely be fighting to get the most material things and money from him, it will be a life of "let's get out as much as possible from him lest he gives it all to the other women". If not managed well it may lead to a life that is hate & animosity-filled all around him. I have seen it in families with two wives, there's never love------it's always hatred/fighting/quarrelling and each wife struggling to get the most of what the man has. At the end of life of such men come and see the declaration of war. (I am not wishing our dear Tuface death)

An artist like Tuface with his beautiful talent deserves a peaceful life, I wish him peace cause he will need it.
FamilyRe: The Other Side Of The “story From The Grave” Ogochukwu Cecilia Onuchukwu Rip - T by Ivynwa(f):
Any right thinking person reading this two-sided stuff should be able to deduct that there are traces of truth and false in both stories. The writer of the first story strove to make it heartrending, the defenders of the husband went over the board to paint him good.
This couple had their problems, lots of it at that. They had their issues----quarrel, bad talk, good and bad times----which human being/couple don't.

Nothing makes it right that a family that lost its matriach should be dragged into the public domain at a time that hearts are broken from the lady's death. However much the heart of the writer of "Cry from the grave" breaks from whatever maltreatment meted out to the dead lady she shouldn't have gone shouting it out this maliciously on the mountains. Write it into a fiction, add more stuffs to make it more heartrending----I'm sure many women will benefit from it but not this way her family/marriage was brought down.

The writer without knowing it exposed the shocking extent she intruded in that marriage. Did I say that? I think I did. Whoops!
Hugs to the writer of "Cry from the grave" anyway, you must be hurting from the loss of your sister. My sympathy and condolence to the two families. She was a charming lady in school, carried herself good and gracefully. May she rest in perfect peace biko, Amen-o-o-o.

FamilyRe: I Caught My Husband Cheating On Me by Ivynwa(f):
There's only one answer to this multiple-choice question of wondering whether your husband is cheating on you or not.

Your post seems to be asking "Is he really cheating on me?"

Answers
A. Yes
B. No

The probability of the answer being "Yes" here is greater than that of "No" but you haven't enough evidence to conclude so more facts are needed.

An office in which security man had to go let him know that you are around.
Girl I ain't painting the truth for you. If you find out that he is not cheating on you, you will feel happy and if you find out that he is cheating on you you still have the power to not allow it bring you down. The question should be how do you handle this without hurting your self in your pregnant state? I am not going to kill my self over a cheating man because a good number of men just can't handle their testosterone. If I were you I will first condition my mind in such a way that it will not hurt me.
"You choose to be happy or unhappy"
If you allow it to have you wailing and crying as you are doing now, it can only bring you down and may affect your Baby (God forbid). If you condition your mind positively and decide to be strong about this, you will conquer it smiling. Why kill yourself over a man having his good time and good feelings huh

The next thing to do should be to keep your eyes open and get enough facts that will determine your next move towards saving your marriage from your husband's roving d*ck (that is if he is being unfaithful for sure)and the straying chick. Girl quit crying like a baby, wipe your tears and do your homework.

If you find out the truth, you have the power to not let some fun seekers bring you down as well as save your marriage. If you work on it and can't seem to salvadge it, you also have the power to do what you finally make up your mind to do. The choice is yours to leave, the choice is yours to stay. Hilary Clinton took back her straying man and is happy with him today. Strauss Kahn's wife is still with her husband who confessed to having a mutual thing with another woman/woman herself accused him of s-e-xual assault(only both of them know the truth.
If Hilary had gone crying out her eyes like you are doing and left Bill Clinton to Lewinsky, they will not be having a good marriage today. If you can't handle it right now, don't work on your marriage. Pack your bags tomorrow and leave him for the lady friend. I am sure that she will thank you for that. If it's redeemable, work on it and save it, if you can't redeem it----leave it, I will be happy to see you happy in another marriage.
FamilyRe: He Said He 'touched' Her..&for Me That Has Changed A Lot Of Things! by Ivynwa(f):
Jay Alex: 2yrs ago my wife and i had an issue@home,i had to pay the yearly rent and had to get an operation for a torn ligament, the cost of both was almost same..I do not like to be embarrassed about my responsibilities so i decided to pay the rent and work for a few months and save for the operation, since it wasn't dire.My wife wouldn't have non of it,she insisted i get the operation first and from a mild argument,we really started having problems,we barely talked and she really wouldn't see reasons. So i did what i had to do pay the rent so i'd maintain the cordial relationship and mutual repect i and my landlord shared, since i wasn't feeling much pain or pressure from the knee.3weeks after my wife refused to pay our daughters school fees, which she took care and instead bought a new set of kitchen cabinet, she said that's what's important. That's when we had the big falling out..i was angry and furious and shouted on her, when i came back she and my daughter had gone to my best friend's house.I went there took my little girl and left her with my friend and his wife..after 4weeks she moved back in by then parents and relations had set in(the one thing i hate).4months later i got the operation, and since then we'v been good, best friends like always..a week ago my friend said he had something to tell me that's burdened his heart for so long, one he felt he owed me as a friend,i listened and after many starts he said he had 'touched' my wife while she held up with them, categorically they didn't sleep together, but then twice he said they were in each other..i left and havent said anything to him yet and my amiable wife never thot it wise to tell me all these while! The two people i love and trust apparently betrayed me..what do i do with my wife? Where do i start with her?
Jay Alex: @All...Read your views so far,and took a bit here and there,i will have that talk with her..
Yeah, you definitely need to have that talk to know what "he touched" your wife meant. Your explanation did not throw light on things properly. You said that he touched your wife but did not sleep with her and that twice they were in each other--------(each other's what?? Is it each other's arm? You left the sentence incomplete and hanging). Were they in each other's arms? If they were that may or may not fully entail expression of s-e-x-ual love as your wife may have allowed him to take her into his arms out of her unhappy state of mind over your marriage and your friend on the other hand may not or may have gone weak at that moment as to touch her etc. The fact that they did not sleep together seems to be suggesting that your wife is loyal to you if and only if she didn't engage in a s-e-xual embrace with him-------the truth lies with your wife.

How on earth did your friend and especially his wife put up with someone's wife in their house that long? Okay he was your friend and she sought solace in their house at the moment stuffs happened, after some days there without your reconciliation she should have left that place.

Are there more to your friend's confession than met the eye, why did he come confessing? Is it really his conscience or does he have ulterior motives? All these are for you to find out.

All in all you have to know how to contain this as if not properly handled can affect two marriages. It may hurt your friend's wife if she hears that. Your wife's rep may suffer if your friend's wife decides to take it up with her on hearing it. It's effect on your own marriage has already started so find out the truth and handle things right. In my opinion your wife is still loyal to you if she resisted whatever feelings that got stirred up in her when she was touched (in whatever manner your friend meant). Her unhappy state of mind might have led her into the arms of another man yet her love/loyalty led her out before she could fall to the temptation of adultery.

The first time I perused through this story, I did not spend time reading it all as I thought it was someone's work of fiction. I am surprised to see the thread running up and on top of if it all to know that it is about somebody I have lived in one of the university hostels with. Wao! it's shocking to read that this lady passed away.

I am not close to her as to know what transpired in her marriage as I haven't set eyes on her after we all left school but one thing that is certain in this story is that this is a couple that went through a lot in their marriage. The husband may have been imperfect, may have given her some beatings, maltreated her in one way or the other, talked to her in a terrible manner (which is not good one bit) yet this is a couple that have been through a whole lot. They must have gone through lots of pressure and unhappiness before they had their first child 7 years into their marriage and the reality of their first child needing special care etc must have been difficult for them too.
All these are what must have brought tensions and unhappiness in their home (thanks too to the hard and wicked demands, pressure and norms of our society on the women folk) which must have aided their friction from in-laws as well as had the man sitting uptight and fighting for his integrity when he should chill and humbly embrace and be fully there for his family in the travails. The truth about marriage is that it may not be sweet all the way and when problems are encountered couples should humble down their shoulder a bit, quit acting up "handsome and beautiful" and face the reality of their problems like being there for their spouse and children in times of sickness.

Whoever wrote that must be hurting for the unprettiness meted out to Ogoo by her husband but why write the sadidy story after she has gone and now that the family is mourning too? The write-up and that negative publicity isn't what the family needs now, it can be written into a book to enlighten other women, Yes! but not this way with her name, family name, husband name. It's simply too scandalous for a family that is mourning. In as much as I detest the beatings, the animosity, the vile ways her husband talked to her especially his looking down on their children yet I still can find it in me to have little compassion for this young couple and the problems they encountered in their marriage. This is a case of two young children making a life together and having to face some unprettiness that was bigger than them. The husband should not be judged and maligned at this time of mourning. Yes he wasn't a saint with his wife, writer, friends and family should have spoken out and stopped him when this Ogoo lady is alive. Her death is enough sadness to deal with coupled with the children that she left behind too. Venting on her husband will not bring her back, it will only add more sorrow to a family in sorrow.
