I want to sincerely thank God for a successful POE experience...

I arrived JFK, New York aboard Arik (yeah yeah, i know the stories but i know a couple of people there so it wasnt a biggie) this morning. With all documentations, cash etc. The Officer asked me the following questions:

Officer: When last did you come to the US?
Me: May last year
Officer:For how long?
Me: 2 weeks
Officer: How long are you planning to spend this time?
Me: Two months
Officer: And what are you here for this time? Vacation?
Me: Vacation and to have my baby.
Officer: Oh Ok. All the best.

That was it. Picked my one piece luggage, gave the second batch of officers my landing card and left. There were two other pregnant women on the flight, i saw them outside so i guess they were successful as well.

Am still in New York, will be heading to El Paso tomorrow. @damsell, any hope for the utensils?

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum and May Almighty God bless you abundantly, Amen.
Congratulations on your successfully entry. Pls how much is the flight from newyork to elpaso? And I heard one has to pay for luggages. How true is this?

Hi all, so by the grace of a God, my stay in Elpaso comes to a successful end on Sunday, Jan 11th when I leave for NAija. Shout out to Baba God Himself and his beautiful children on this forum who have contributed immensely to my entire experience so far. Right now, I'm on the lookout for any mom who would be coming to Elpaso soonest ...I've got the cooking and home utensils I've been using for the past 3 months and I'd love to pass it on to any mama who's interested, to save herself the stress if buying anew. A kind NAija mum gave me some of them on my arrival here and the rest I bought. Feel free to pm me if interested so we can work out an arrangement as to where I'd leave them for you just in case ure arriving after I leave. Cheers all
Hi Damsell. Sent you a pm. Wanna have a chat with you. Thanks

Above all,congratulations to them grin
Look at you? Which man doesn't like money? Since he knows all the scenes will make him always smile to the bank, I bet he would be her number 1 cheerleader! Congrats to her and her hubby. Am happy for them. It's not easy.

i am going second week of feb,i would be more than happy to help. i haven even gotten a gynea, this is what i know about babies document.
- download a request form from mopbap's website.
- send the completed form with $15 money order to:
bureau of vital statistics
111 south Meramec drive
clayton, MO 63105

you can call the hospital birth certificate office @ 3149965746

we think it can be done online @ www.dhss.mo.gov ( this isnt confirmed)
i would let you know soon as it is confirmed.
Ok. Thanks so much. Speaking of obgyn, why haven't you gotten any? Do you intend to wait till when in st Louis before getting one or you are still working on it? I have been calling the two I found and its been going to voicemail.

Why is no one talking about all inclusive hospitals within MIHS former price range again? angry with this increase in exchange rate all this 5k and above bills is doing me some how o cry

Please if anyone has details about very cheap hospital within the 3k-4k(all inclusive) range let me know abeg. The cheapest I have seen is $4065 in Tuscson Arizona. But accommodation seem to be on the high side. If you have anything cheaper pls endeavour to let me know. Thanks.

Natural is $4,500. CS is $5,500
Breakdown:
CS - 3,500 for the hospital (all inclusive)
Natural - 2,500 (all inclusive)

Doctors Fee - 2000 both natural and CS.

N.B: we are still to get a zero balance statement. So we set asides some funds for contingency (just in case we get a separate bill for paeditician and the rest). However all these are included in the contract.

The major thing you would need to contend with before u register is that you would need to show that you are a resident, so you wud need a bill from your stated address. If you stayin with family you can get bill from them. If u staying in an apartment, you can register for internet, and present the bill. Or get the apartment manager/landlord to write that ur utility bills are included in your rent( as most partment rent comes with utility bills built in). You could get this notarized for $20. Feel free to disturb for any other info.

ok great! One more thing pls, how did you go about accommodation? Are you staying with family? Do you have an idea of the cost of accommodation around the hospital?
And it seems the hospital doesn't schedule an appointment except one is physically in the Us. Pls correct me if am wrong. Tanks

For those that want the consent form (Form 3053). A fast way is to google form 3053, you would see it in pdf, save it and you are home and dry, that's what I did.

My wife gave birth on boxing day to a beautiful baby girl via elective CS. Hospital was JPS arlignton, dallas, Texas. The service was superb from the start to the end. She was just discharged minutes ago. We got value for every cent of the $5,500 we paid (all inclusive). We are yet to get the zero balance statement, wifey would pick that up later. My daughter developed jaundice, luckily the level didn't get high. I was worried cos treatment would have been outside the obygyn package and I didn't want any suprising "X factor" bill.

Attending the ante natal class entitles you to a lot of freebies; a car seat, diapers, early baby clothes and loads more. Wifey was given wrong information @ the hospital so she didn't enjoy this. Make sure you ask well if you are using this place. And yeah they have transport service for pick up and drop off if you stay far from the ante-natal clinic location. There are several clinics, you get to pick the one closest to your location.

To all expecting mothers, God would grant you all safe deliveries, all those waiting for interview..na success all through. My brother @bj2012golf, I don commit 31st to God hands. Its success
$5500 for cs? Pls how much is the quote for natural birth? And can you pls give me a break down of your bill... tanks

Babes, I could have sworn you wer Houston bound o. When do you intend to travel ? Which hospital are you using. See me that thought I am gonna be the only one to go to Missouri...
lol cheesy I was El paso bound but hubby said we should go to st Louis. So the search has begun my sis. I had everything set for el paso, from appointment to documentation process. Now am back to square one cry

Pls I need your help o. I guess you are going earlier as I intend travelling in April. So your wealth of experience will be really helpful to me. I have visited mobap's website and saw two gyneas. But I haven't contacted them. As regards the hospital bill, am going by what your sister inlaw helped confirm. I will call after the holidays to book an appointment after I must have gotten an affordable gynea.

My challenge now is the step by step process for securing baby's documents. I hope you will also help in that regard. wink

@ MamaTobenna, I used Reddington Ikeja and they are very good. I chops Dr Balogun and when I mentioned my travelling to him, he prepared my medical report in an extensive way and wrote a perfect fit to fly letter for me. Even when I get to US the Ob/gyn told me that he has done majority of the work.
Thanks for this. Reddington ikeja it is grin

Please mamas, which hospital in your opinion is best for ANC? Between Reddington & St ives. I read somewhere on this thread that one of these hospitals don't give patients access to their medical records. Don't know which of the two. Please help as I need to decide between which of the two to register with. Thanks kiss

you would need two forms of ID, your International Passport and another form of ID,Your drivers license or An ATM or MasterCard bearing your name. mini mum opening balance is about 30 or 50 dollars...can't remember other details on the charges..
Nogen:

If it's a savings account, a minimum balance of 300 dollars is needed if not 5 dollars will be charged at the end of each month. But for a checking account, you would need to drop a minimum balance of about a thousand dollars (not too sure again).
Alright! Thanks guys kiss

Use Bank of America but you must go with your international passport. That was all I was asked to provide.
Aside the IP, what other documents were required? How about the opening balance?

Got visa with son and hubby April 3013 for vacation purpose. Didn't use it till June this year for birthing purpose. Sent the usual e-mail to the embassy in March notifying them of plans to birth baby in the US and got the generic response. Appeared at POE in Dallas with the embassy's response, obgyn's appointment and price quote, hospital quote received via mail, return tickets of course wink.
