As a matter of personal principle , the only people I give money in traffic or on the streets are the handicapped . I don’t believe in giving money to a person with two hands and legs standing in a major road. I believe there are countless menial jobs u can do that will put something into ur pocket and will keep ur integrity/dignity intact ; rather than standing on the road looking for hands out People who give him money are those who are just encountering him for the first time So, they would not know its a scam He will just stand there, with dirt on his body, a broken basin and be staring at his pure water sachets on the ground. One will most likely think a car hit him, or he fell while running; and then the merciful spirit of yours is triggered |

This boy will stand in the middle of the traffic, with a broken basin, and his sachets of pure water littered on the road. People would be touched to give him money, thinking he was hit by a car or something

Human by default are corrupt and would go for a fast and easy link,/way to get what they want and only the system can quash that urge....
It lies in the hand of the gov to make a strict law or put in a working system to restrict the corrupt act..

No be today oga at the top dey say one story while the guys in the trenches know the story is different. You are showing me proof of the expressway. I have not argued that with you But the Blue Rail line was paid for by Lagos state. WB did not partake in the $2 billion bonanza for a 27km rail. The head of the transport agency just told you. There is no proof from you that WB paid anything for the rail Yet, you want me to believe a trenches gossip. I refuse, sir |

There are examples on the internet of roads up north that cost about the same with that in the south. I am not saying. Please make sure to include the different terrains and not just select a few because you want to win an argument.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 11:25am On Jan 06, 2023 |
GloriousGbola: It is definitely easier to build roads up north. Once you have a waterlogged area, you are better off with paving stones. That sounds straight forward until you realise you need a stone/quarry dust base first. So where up north you just do some quick compaction, throw in some laterite and then pour asphalt and be done sharp sharp, you have to do much more in the south if you arr building a road to last He said it is CHEAPER. And i can bring proof that it is not. It is almost the same estimate, in comparison with the distance. I have not argued that it isnt easier |

GloriousGbola: The project started out as a world Bank funded project. That much I am sure of. The world Bank released at least one tranche of funding. I knew several different people attached to supervision of the project. I even have some of their drawings . It was also originally awarded to four vendors. But from 2015,the project went on hiatus and when they restarted the parameters had changed. But LAMATA Managing Director disagrees with you, sir. She said the LASG funded it. So who is lying now? |

Cross the express and you will pass it
The entire project is a ten lane road with 2 lanes dedicated to rail. So the 10X cost of raft foundation wouldn't apply here, would it? |

chrisooblog: So it's cheaper to build in a swampy area like the Niger-Delta than in Northern areas like say Benue or Taraba?
Please go ahead waiting for your gotcha moment. You said this. chrisooblog: Thank you for expanding on my point. That's why it's cheaper and easier for example to build roads in the northern part of Nigeria than the South because of issues around soil texture and terrain. Maybe i should ask you if only Niger Delta is in the South |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 11:10am On Jan 06, 2023 |
GloriousGbola: You also need raft foundation in the trade fair axis. We had a project in 2015 and we were pumping out water wella. We could not even deploy a soakaway.
Without an actual breakdown of cost, we will be going in circles. How much do you think it would cost to replace an entire 33kv circuit from mazamaza to Badagry?
How much do you think it will cost to build a new pipeline for nnpc?
They had to build one and tie it into the line at abule ado
At 3rd gate they had to clear out a massive rubbish dump. Once you have a rubbish dump anywhere, you will sandfill the place wella
We simply don't have enough info Is there any rail at Tradefair and Maza maza? We are talking about the rail that starts from Mile 2 to Marina? So which raft foundation was built at Trade fair and Alakija? |

Government expenditure without doubt should be looked at closely but it should be done with rigorous research and vigor.
Some of our journalists too don't help matters like the issue of sovereignty clause that was inserted into the contracts of the railways the Chinese built for Nigeria. Some people actually believed the Chinese will seize the country's railway incase of debt default on Nigeria's part. Unfortunately the brouhaha from the matter has discouraged the Chinese from funding the remaining part of the line from Ibadan to Abuja. If i prove to you that this is wrong, i hope you won't say i misconstrued your point again |

chrisooblog: Now chief this is the upteempth time you will come out of the blue to misconstrue my statement and conclude what I didn't say in my post. Please stop it this is a new year.
Now to address directly what you said of course it's common sense to interrogate the budget of projects world over. I was speaking to the Nigerian malaise of monies being allocated for projects and it being completely siphoned without any getting done but how that means I'm justifying corrupt inflation of projects only you can explain.
I don't know the exact details of how much should have been expended on the blue line and on the surface it looks inflated however it will help when making comparisons to give detailed breakdowns of how such figures were arrived at because for example compensation for owners of land along the right of way, nature of terrain usually go into the cost. That in no way isn't saying blue line didn't cost too much but more details are needed before arriving at an absolute conclusion.
I'm not asking for a Jinnee that will magically make everything in the country better. I want someone who will take practical realistic steps that will improve the country. Problem solvers remedy situations not because the environment is ideal or perfect but because they think out of the box. Your point was clear in your previous post. I don't know why you have to type this long to explain chrisooblog: This right here is the bane of Africa and in particular Nigeria.

GloriousGbola: Well, the rail line was originally a world Bank project funded and overseen by the world Bank. There were multiple consultants attached to it. This was also one of the reasons for delays because the loan is paid in tranches and each tranche has to be guaranteed by the FG. At a point the then admin did not do anything. I am not sure it is still world bank funded.
The point I am making is it was initially overseen by wb. Also it was originally awarded to multiple vendors but now it seems to be only ccecc. CCECC will always give you lowest price but any variation, you are OYO
Finally the argument it cost x amount here vs y amount there doesn't quite fly because of what we call greenfield vs brownfield.
Also because of ground
Greenfield means you are building in virgin territory. No houses to demolish, no rubbish tips to clear and sand full, no utilities in your way. This project has necessitated relocation of 33kv power lines, nnpc pipe line, demolitions etc. All these add to the cost
In addition most of Lagos is waterlogged. That means raft foundation. A raft foundation is x10 cost of strip foundation. And that is for buildings. For a bridge carrying a rail line
Just to point out
And there is another difference. We actually have the rail line. And it will work. That is the difference. It is not what I call a showroom piece - that will look good in the shop and never be used after ceremony, but an actual utility You are an engineer, so i expect you to know how long 752km is in reality. The railway has 61 bridges built for it. That is no small feat. The Blue rail is not even a heavy guage rail. The Ethiopian rail is. The Blue rail is not even electric. The Ethiopian rail is. The raft foundation you talk about starts from Orile to Marina. That is a 10km distance or so. Max is 15 km And nowhere did i say the rail was not existing |

That Blue Rail line-Djibouti issue was first raised by Gbadamosi back then when he contested against Sanwoolu for first term . People just dismissed it think all that matters is there will be a blue rail line the cost doesn’t matter .
When I see people posting blue rail line and the train and masturbating on it I just shake my head . We willingly give people pass to rob us because they are executing a project( something that we elected them to do o) . If u talk they will say u never anything good in the government . What makes it more laughable is that the Ethiopian rail is fully electric...Much more expensive to build, yet it is just double of a 27km rail in Nigeria. It is funnier that educated people don't ask questions; Just do projects and lets celebrate. Yet, the governor or minister has siphoned half of the money for him and his family. Nigeria is not going to get better. Forget all these analysis here and there. |
