Now we all have to think in one direction and support everything, to avoid being tagged hypocrites.
I doubt some of the people commenting have seen the video. I agree she needs all the love, if she were my sister, daughter, friend...etc, I will definitely stand by her. But I would also need her to understand she didn't do well at all.
Any parent heart would sink watching that video. Such parent would even need sometime to put themselves together, they might even be needing therapy alongsides her. He obviously isn't a parent, or her parent, so it's easy to type without stress
The op didn't consider that the parents have feelings too. If the girl needs all the love on earth right now, what about her father? What will his friends think of him? Or the mother? She will be the "topic of the week" in the home of her friends
The op isn't her parents, so it's easy to type that and call the world hypocrites |

foolbuster: Oga Who issued the clearance papers and released the car after checking it and ascertaining it has met all requirements? The Agent?
Ok. Lets say the agent bribed the customs. (Which by the way is unfortunately the norm in Nigeria and what almost every agent does.) And customs accept the bribe and go ahead to clear the vehicle and issue papers. What moral obligation does the same customs now have to impound that same vehicle that they cleared.
What they should rather do is mark the vehicle and give the owner some time to complete the payment since it was them that cleared the vehicle and issued clearance documents, rather than impound the car on the spot as if the owner comitted some serious crime. Meanwhile the mixup is from them.
But as a typical Nigerian you wont reason that way. Thats why Nigerians get trampled over by anything with any semblance of authourity including a receptionist. Okay |

tempex88: You assume too much. What proof do you have that he tipped?
My understanding is that he made payment based on valauation issued by Customs.
Dont forget the process; - agent does declaration; - customs issues assessment, - Custom does examination; and final check at the gate. I'm so sorry. I did assume much
He probably collected 2.750, paid 1.9 and kept about 800k as his charges
I apologize for assuming

foolbuster: Oga is the customs papers original or fake?
Fact remains that the agent went through customs to obtain the original customs clearance papers. So why will the same custom impound a car they have cleared and turn around to say they have not cleared. The car was impounded for UNDERPAID DUTY. You should learn to comprehend before typing, you know
According to the story, The "Holy, honest and diigent" agent(who should not be blamed according to you) told the op the full duty of the car was 2.750 when he knew it was more than that.
He paid 1.9, tipped the customs(those that should actually be blamed, according to you) and assured the op that the full duty has been paid.
Even when the car was about to be transported, the innocent agent assured him that the duty was paid in full
Like I agreed with you, the agent is not to be blamed. The op should be blamed for buying a white Lexus |
Autos › Re: Beware!! My 2014 GX460 Cleared By Adexfem Was Impounded By Custom Officers Today by izzou(m): 9:35am On Nov 22, 2019 |
foolbuster: Honestly i dont blame the agent or the Op. I might not know the process of clearing a vehicle or obtaining customs duty but i cant seem to understand why no one is blaming customs.
The customs papers are not fake, they are genuine. It was customs themselves that issued those papers and released the vehicle, irrespective of how the papers was obtained fact remains it was customs that issued those papers, it is not fake. If the conditions were not met, why did they release the vehicle along with genuine custom papers? Why is nobody talking about arresting the custom officials involved in the processing of the documents and release of the vehicles knowing that the conditions have not been met.
Is it not criminal for customs to issue clearance and papers for a vehicle knowing that the vehicle should not be cleared so that they can turn around and impound same vehicle for more money. Of course, the agent should not be blamed..
When you give your mechanic money to buy original parts for you after he charges you for it, and he buys fake parts, don't blame the mechanic. Blame the importer and customs.
According to the story, who did the op meet to clear his car? The custom officer
Who gave him a bill of 2.750? The custom officer
This is Nigeria, and you are correct sir. The Customs should be blamed for this |

ornicus: Nothing a billon Dollars can’t fix. If we can get it, and if our fellow Nigerians will not steal it.
Also the same problem with deregulation. If I have he money to invest and I come into Nigerian and invest, I will not make my money back at the current energy rates. And Nigerians will resist raising energy cost ( chicken and egg issue - which comes first)
Also Nigerians have this weird idea that good service should be almost free. I am sure you saw all those absurd arguments on forcing down price of data. Some people are almost ready for us to go back to the days of nitel. That Barbary expressway already has its toll gates because it is a loan that has to be repaid. Let them complete it, start rolling and Nigerians will start screaming .
We need to raise prices to bring in serious investors. We also may need to re sell some of the discos, which were sold more on paddy paddy than on capacity I remember I went for Power Nigeria exhibition at Landmark last year
When the IBEDC guy spoke about the power sectors, I started to realize we can't get steady power in donkey decades

ornicus: Power is really three parts You have a generator that's power generation The cable from generator to changeover that's transmission From your distribution board through your house, that's distribution
Imagine your cable to the changeover is old and patched in multiple places. It rains you have to go out and fix, rat crosses cable, you have to go out and fix.
Our transmission network requires significant overhauling, but this is capital intensive. We are not using our full generation capacity because of the transmission issues. It is not about oil companies, who can actually make money selling lpfo so some power generating companies.
It is about large, long term investment in an unstable country.
Mtn and Co started making their money immediately.your returns on power investment can take decades.
Obj also effed up. His administration brought in billions in equipment that was left to rot at our ports.by now a lot of that stuff may be obsolete
Just a primer on our energy issues Countries with worse economies than us have steady electricity

pope191: I was at dia office to renew papers on Wednesday, one of dem ask me, if the papers r for uber? I just look at her, smile and said no. Bolt/Uber generate income like any other commercial vehicle, so they are supposed to use the red plate number which is meant for commercial purpose that uses the LASDRI & Hackney permit. When next you sight them, put your phone out of reach any other questions outside your papers r irrelevant and you should treat it as such, irrespective of riders sitting position. God bless the pope
I remember when I said I don't use phone holders. Some said it was pride, but I had a feeling then that uber work go soon turn goldmine

EasyPeazy: Izzou you couldn't have said it any better. The picture below is a picture of a comment I made way back. A lot of Nigerians are very cynical and heartless to a large extent as long as money is involved. They don't mind cutting corners to the last as long as Mula is made. We are that wicked!
Just imagine how so many agents are already here using subtle means to try to defend the situation!
If what many of them are saying is the truth, why did the clearing agent not inform the buyer that duty is being underpaid and that he has a work around.... so that buyer will be pre informed and be ready for customs Brouhaha?
I repeat my mantra "I fear who doesn't fear Nigerians. The name of God is always on there lips but there hearts are full of evil and wickedness." It's terrible. I know someone who died in an accident. When pictures of the car was shared, we noticed that despite the impact, no airbag deployed
The answer was simple: They thought they bought a Tokunboh with "full option", "non accidented" and blah blah blah... But the car had no airbag
A lot of Nigerians drive cars without airbags just because one person wants to be greedy.
We are very wicked here oh. |

Another person I know was told where not to go with her car. I simply told her that car wasn't cleared by customs. Of course the man denied, said it needs time to show on their database...smh And yet they'll assure you that it was paid in full.
Satan must be amazed at how Nigerians have become more wicked and evil than him. |
Autos › Re: Beware!! My 2014 GX460 Cleared By Adexfem Was Impounded By Custom Officers Today by izzou(m): 6:07am On Nov 22, 2019 |
Someone came to you to clear a vehicle and you billed him. You didn't say "Oga, the bill is almost %90 of the cost price, but I can tip my way to make it lesser". You assured him he was paying the correct fee
He still called you while the car was to be transported. You still assured him that what he paid was correct.
And then they impound the car, and some of you come here to explain how it is impossible to pay custom duty and how the government is wicked
Being a Nigerian is a curse. An average Nigerian is wicked, dubious and deceitful. I don't think God listens to prayers about helping Nigeria. We are very good liars, and heartless
Imagine what people come here to explain |

chillex8: After 3 days fire-brigade with my mondeo, the clutch hydraulic hose decided to leak fluid and Am clutchless.
Was wearing my usual white and couldn't work on it myself.
After struggling to park it somewhere in lekki 1, I engaged a kazeem to loosen the hose.
While he was at it, I was repeatedly dialing my contact at ojuelegba to send the replacement to no avail.
Kazeem loosened it and suggested we weld it. Ok. No problem. Take money and proceed.
1hour later, he's back. Fixes the hose, refill with DOT4 , and am pumping the clutch for the bleeding process. It's still leaking somewhere.
Lo and behold, the rubber clip at one end of the hose is missing, so it doesn't fit into the connector.
Am getting angry.
Kazeem where is this rubber clip na ?
We start searching and searching perhaps it fell off somewhere
Am still calling ojuelegba, no response.
After almost 2hours no rubber found.
