In as much as we pity them we have to be realistic here, if at all this message should be directed to the app companies.
Me said it long time ago, I won't invest in this business with that amount.
I would rather look for other things, now how many people have actually recouped their investment in this business? Even those collecting 35k, at the end of the day it's still stories.
So what would you rather suggest for investors?

You keep saying this all the time, right from when it was 35. Funny enough you have little or nothing to do about it. Yeah, investors can't that's the sad reality.
Someone invests about 1.5 million in getting a car, and you think 25k weekly is fair enough? At what point will he recoup his capital? Not to start talking about ROI?

I know there's nothing I can do about it grin...But make we try to dey pity people as God take dey pity us. If I have a car, I can't give it out for 25k.

I rather use the money and buy fairly used Volkswagen LT bus and ply Oko-Afo to CMS. At least, drivers dey deliver 9k to 10k daily.

The era of "beggi beggi" is over. When someone bashes you, just ask for him insurance and settle the matter

That is just the tip of the iceberg with respect to all the data available to your provider.

Do you realize your provider can track your movements and triangulate your location via your phone?

Why do you think vpns are popular? Because they are an attempt to hide your online history from your provider.

so You go to mtn and somehow enter a fake name, or address. don’t they have your fingerprint and your photo? You think they cannot match different fingerprints And photos in their database together?

The only thing stopping Uber from identifying riders is will.
[color=#000000]I like how you keep turning the tables to suit whatever you believe. It's really nice

You register on Uber with the number.. Uber sends you a text.. Uber Driver called you with the same number & you think no log?

Even the phone imei number you used the telco will have it, so disposing the sim & using that same phone with another sim.. You will still be tracked..
Well except you want to be throwing away sim & phones everyday..

Issue with naija police is just multivation to do thier job
So the rider that called me (of which I supposedly kidnapped later) is now a log that can help the police?

Like someone said, if tracking people with phone numbers is that possible, kidnapping cases won't last a day in Nigeria

We have seen very rich people pay ransoms. You want to tell me the police was never "motivated"(whatever that means) enough?

Let's believe whatever we want. We are all entitled to it

Lmao. When you put it like that, makes me feel guilty.

I wouldn't say I am not "fulfilled" here. There are just days I have a mental drain- on such days, I feel like being so many things. From a trophy wife, to a yam seller, then a restaurant owner. grin
grin

Lol

But then, just follow your heart.... Sounds difficult, but most times, that's where our peace lies

Let me take this again. If a phone is involved in the commission of a crime and police are called in, they can get the call records of the perpetrator from mtn or any other telco company. With the data from the line, be it location, numbers called , transactions, the user can be traced. This has been used to facilitate arrests in other cases.

We had an issue just like that where someone was making threatening calls to a member of staff.

It is just that our police will not prosecute crimes unless they are motivated.

Nothing you do in this digital age can be fully and completely hidden.
Every single thing you do with your phone is logged on your providers servers
I just gave you an example of buying a SIM, registering it with a wrong address, and downloading the app with data

No call log. No message log

How will that help the police track the rider? huh

(Sometimes) I feel like resigning and opening a restaurant where I will be cooking afang and semo. I said it once to someone and he looked at me one how. I could tell he thought I am a very stupid girl- one with no dreams & aspirations.
Are you scared of being fulfilled?

Yea, I think Orca believes it is that organised and perfect out there- but it isn't. Life has never been that straight forward anyway. There are lots of grey areas.

Drivers can easily be tracked, I can't say same for riders. That is why it is easier for riders to call out drivers on SM, with their pictures plastered everywhere.
Riders cannot be tracked with just that info

If I go under the bridge at Obalende, and I buy a SIM, register it with my address being in Gombe, then download the uber app, order for a ride and kidnap the driver..... How can Uber help the police with only that info?

I never see person wey dey argue blindly in a long while.

A bank can track anyone easily because they have your data: Address, ID, Utility bill, biometrics, and all that

How is it possible for Uber to track a rider just with a phone number as the only submitted info?

I think he understands. He just doesn't want to believe that Uber(as big as they are) don't have provisions for drivers safety

dayum, i actually though this was someone else trolling. though you have to ask your guy how one case became 'several' (his own words)
You keep arguing back and forth like you're in the game.... Like you were ever in the game. Haba

I don't know your area of expertise, but I wouldn't argue with you when you speak if I have no real life knowledge about it.... But in your case, you keep assuming and assuming. Not fair

I have hung out with drivers countless times at Chevron, VI, Allen, Ikeja GRA and others. I can't count how many times I've slept in a car. Drivers die... Not one, not two, not five sef. I know a driver in a whatsapp group that was killed at Oshodi. We even contributed in the group to assist him wife.

Stop arguing about what you've never experienced. This job is very risky at night. People who drive their cars alone at night are robbed and kidnapped, how much more someone picking up somebody he doesn't know

yeah, i read through the story. and they got caught almost immediately. that says uber is monitoring, even if they are mum about it
Uber and Bolt only give more attention to riders. They have no protection for drivers

That car was probably hunted down with the help of a tracker, not Uber

People use fake names to register on Uber. I have picked riders with names like Jesus, Olokpa, etc... If this person commits a crime, how can Uber help in tracking him when they don't have a photo, no address, no ID and a phone number with rubbish details

You (the rider) are the one protected and being watched on Uber. The driver is in God's hands only
