You don't know what you're saying. There's a host of people in history that you can't prove their existence by archeological artifacts apart from their writings, we know Jesus's disciples by their writings too. The only ones you can prove are kings and emperors because of preserved tombs and coins. I don't have time to argue with you. Either you believe or not! Don't disturb other people because they don't follow your line of thought.

You guys make cheap arguments to debate established facts. You know nothing about the bible you're attempting to discredit, apart from hearsay by those misleading you.
How can you discuss what you don't know?

Don't you know the meaning of compiled? Matthew and co. are the eyewitnesses that wrote the gospels. Their works were later combined with those of others to make up the new testament of the bible. Isaiah scrolls had survived thousand years before it was added to a compilation of books called the Bible. These are just few examples.
The bible is a compilation of different books written at different times, not just passed down stories.
Apparently, you've never read a Bible before, not even out of curiosity to verify your thoughts, and neither have you read about how the bible came into existence. Your arguments show you lack the relevant information. And I won't be the one to inform you, go and find out by yourself.

I am not putting the Bible forward as a singular work. It is not even a singular work. It is a compilation of many disparate works.

My point is, there are hundreds of writings about Jesus, only four are included in the bible.

Why are all those writings automatically disqualified simply because they are religious. There are too many to discountenance and they are not all in the Bible.

Furthermore, there are books in the Bible that are not just of a religious nature. Several books chronicle events that can be shown to be historical, such as the destruction of Jerusalem. I don't think it makes sense to dismiss everything there on the simple ground that it's religious writing.

I would not do thia even for the Vedas. Look, I would not do it even for writings presumed to be myths suxh as the writings about Troy by Homer. We should research carefully rather than make blanket presumptions.

Mind you, I do not believe the Bible to be innerrant truth, and it is not my creed by any stretch of the imagination nor do I believe in the concept of God it advances, which I consider hideous.
