South Africans have a history of murdering their national icons. Luck Dube was one of the greatest Reggae singers ever to put music on tape, yet he was shot by a couple of drunken South African men right there in Lucky Dube's homeland.

Like Lucky Dube, this entertainer probably wasn't even targeted for anything other than street robbery by drunken men, who probably didn't even recognize their victim.

Man this is straight out of a horror movie. Passengers are kidnapped from vehicles on a remote stretch of highway, and then taken to haunted house where they are butchered and their internal organs harvested for sale.

One wonders how people are able to summon the courage to board vehicles that ply any of Nigeria's lonely roads, knowing that murderous organ harvesters are lying in wait to kidnap and slaughter innocent travelers in a house of horrors.

our constitution says these things are illegal but it is part of our collective hypocrisy.

there is no body that wishes to smoke weed in Nigeria right now that cannot easily get it.
Concurrently with the end of cannabis prohibition in Nigeria, the growing and sale of cannabis must be removed from the hands of criminals who often add toxic chemicals to their product to make it more addictive and potent. The quickest way to remove criminals from the supply chain of recreational and medicinal marijuana, is to emulate the South African cannabis legislature that allows every South African adult citizen to legally cultivate FOUR adult flowering plants for personal consumption but NOT for sale.

Since cannabis is one of the easiest plants to grow from seed, allowing individual Nigerian adults over the age of say 25, to grow a small number of cannabis plants for their own traditional remedy preparations but not for sale, would have the effect of removing all the profit incentive previously motivating criminals to grow and sell cannabis, which in turn would encourage large-scale clandestine marijuana growers to emerge from the shadows of the illegal market, and reinvent their farming enterprise as a fully legal, tax-paying agricultural mainstay of the Nigerian economy subject to the same NAFDAC quality control as any other medicinal product.

Since kidnappers and Islamist terrorists are allowed to REPENT as a way of escaping justice when they apprehended in Nigeria, this Nigerian kidnapper in America should be encouraged to REPENT so that he can not only go scot free after committing a serious felony, but can also be placed on a government salary and perhaps even enlisted to become an ICE agent empowered to arrest and deport other illegal immigrants.

LottiOk:
Great News ‼️ if cigarettes and alcoholic beverages which are more dangerous to humanity are legal then Marijuana which has no major negative effects should also be legal.

Legalize it 🌿 🔥 😤 🌬️ 💨
You speak the truth, Oga LottoOK. A single overdose of legally bought alcohol can result in the death of a drinker, while there is not one single overdose death that has been attributed to cannabis on record anywhere in the world. Likewise, cigarettes contain nicotine, which is among the deadliest poisons known to man. Cigarette addicts die from lung cancer, heart ailments, and other illnesses by the thousands worldwide annually, YET tobacco is freely and legally available all over Nigeria.

Viewed from another perspective, the fact that alcohol and tobacco are readily available without legal penalty in Nigeria has NOT resulted in millions of Nigerians becoming drunkards or nicotine addicts. Matter of fact, alcohol consumption in Nigeria remains dramatically lower than the rates seen in Western nations. By the same token, a new law that legalizes cannabis production in Nigeria for medicinal and industrial applications will NOT result in abuse of cannabis, or experimentation with cannabis by those who had no previous experience with it's use, contrary to the usual unfounded claims made by opponents of cannabis legalization.

One hopes that the new legislation being drafted by the Nigerian National Assembly will include a clause similar to that in South Africa's cannabis regulatory laws, that allows Nigerian citizens to grow a limited number of cannabis plants in a garden at home, NOT for sale but for personal use. This single component of the upcoming new legislation will eliminate the criminal element from the supply chain of cannabis, and this is a crucial benefit because criminal mass-producers of cannabis spray chemicals and poisonous additives on their harvest, to boost potency at the cost of inflicting a variety of illnesses in their unsuspecting customers who would be far safer growing their own supply at home.

The following article contains some eye-opening interviews with illegal cannabis growers in Nigeria, who express their opinions about the upcoming legalization of their crop, specifically relating to their concerns that they might not be able to afford the government's cannabis cultivation permits even if the cultivation of this cash crop is legalized for permit holders only.

To my fellow esteemed league of discerning stoners and cannabis entrepreneur-billionaires-in-waiting, I bear today further good news about the impending legalization of cannabis in Nigeria, that was recently announced by none than the Always Mighty NDLEA Tzar, General Marwa.

The following update on this economy transforming development dates back just a couple of months to September 9th, 2025, when Arise News online carried the assurance issued recently by Senator Achonu of Imo State, outlining how the National Assembly is at this very moment engaged in the process of drafting a new bill that will legalize, tax, and commercialize the industrialized cultivation and processing for medicinal cannabis and its derivatives, in Nigeria.

https://www.arise.tv/nigerian-lawmakers-drafting-bill-to-legalise-cannabis-for-medicine-and-economy-says-achonu/

Folks, this legalization of medical cannabis production in Nigeria will inject BILLIONS of US dollars into the Nigerian economy as international investors SWARM and STAMPEDE over to Nigeria to capitalize on the gold-rush economic boom that will commence the moment Nigeria's antiquated colonial-era cannabis prohibition laws are replaced with sensible legislation that will recognize this highly lucrative cash crop's enormous potential as a hard currency earner to rival the oil industry that has historically been Nigeria's economic mainstay.

doncartel:
How about poor white Europeans and Americans who watch some Nigerians come into their country and succeed big time? The whites are also not taking advantage of opportunities in their country. So it’s a global thing.
It just so happens that college-educated Nigerians rank among America's most prosperous immigrant categories, with a large population of Nigerian dollar-millionaires residing in the Houston area. Your observation that such successful blacks might be resented by blue-collar whites whose earning power is limited by their failure to capitalize on the educational opportunities in America, is valid and true.

It is important to note, however, that these expatriate Nigerian success stories in America are NOT the result of Nigerians emigrating to the US and defrauding the welfare system as has been seen on a widespread basis within Minnesota's Somali community. Likewise no Nigerian immigrant to the USA ever secured favorable business privileges by bribing government officials in the manner that the Chinese, Lebanese and Indians have been routinely doing for YEARS in Nigeria.

Your hasty conclusion that residents of any given country that are poor will envy those who are wealthy might be true in a general sense, yet is of debatable relevance to the theme of this discussion, which is that foreigners are FAVORED over Nigerians by biased policies of the Nigerian government AND of private industry.
Politics › Re: Chinese, Indians & Lebanese chasing for greener pastures in Nigeria - Shehu Sani by Jakumo(m): 9:37am On Dec 15, 2025
wink2015:
Shehu Sani’s question misses the real issue.

Nigerians are not blind to opportunities in their own country. The problem is not a lack of vision by Nigerians, but a flawed political and economic structure created by our form of federalism and sustained by poor leadership.

Nigeria claims to operate a federal system modeled after the United States, yet refuses to practice it in full. Resources are centralized at the federal level and redistributed politically, rather than allowing regions to control and develop their own wealth. This distortion of true federalism creates an uneven playing field.

Foreigners—Chinese, Indians, and Lebanese—do not succeed in Nigeria because they “see better” than Nigerians. They succeed because the system favors those with access to centralized power, capital, and government connections concentrated in Abuja. Many of them can fly directly into the capital, secure contracts, licenses, and protection, and dominate sectors before local people even have a chance.

If power and resources were genuinely devolved to the regions and grassroots, the story would be different. Opportunities would be closer to the people, local industries would thrive, and Nigerians would not need to flee abroad in search of dignity and stability.

No foreigner will casually walk into villages, towns, and local economies to exploit opportunities where power truly belongs to the grassroots. Centralization is what makes this possible.

So the issue is not that Nigerians fail to recognize opportunities at home. The issue is a political structure that concentrates power at the centre and excludes ordinary citizens.

In this context, Shehu Sani is chasing shadows, not addressing the root cause.
Now I better understand how it came to be that gold, tantalite and lithium are all being "illegally" mined in northern Nigeria by the usual suspects who convey the precious metals extracted from those mines aboard fleets of helicopters that also ferry into Nigeria infantry weapons to arm Islamists then tasked with evacuating villages at gunpoint to make way for more "illegal" mining.

The entire racket is quietly legitimized by shadowy figures in the periphery of power at the federal level.

franchasofficia:
This topic is bigger than Shehu Sanni's small brain.

Let me educate him and other people that think like him.

Nigeria is a poor country rich with some natural mineral resources and governed by the most corrupt Nigerians who managed to fight their corrupt way to the top.

These people parading themselves as leaders in Nigeria lack vision, their only interest is how to enrich themselves, their family members, close friends, political associates, political sycophants that help them hold on to power, and because of this, the wealth from the mineral resources of Nigeria is hijacked by the ruling class and some privileged entrepreneurs. All these and more made Nigeria and Nigerians more miserable as corruption becomes institutionalized in Nigeria, causing hardship, illiteracy, mass youth unemployment, underemployment and complete idleness.

But then, due to high level of illiteracy, fear of future/old age, Islamic religion, etc., Nigeria have enormous population who are mostly young people. This population means needs that must be met whether they are poor or rich; they must feed, cloth, shelter, merry and sorrow, which creates opportunities for products and services to be rendered to solve the problems and needs of the enormous population of Nigeria.

As a Nigerian youth, when you notice these needs and opportunities, you wish to startup a business or service rendering to meet these peoples needs in exchange for money, but then you dont have the money to get you started, in some cases, you dont have the skill or technical know how to render the services and you need to survive. What do you do? And you hear about another country that have lots of well paying jobs that dont even require much skill and when you check the exchange rate, if you earn little there it can be sent back to Nigeria and quadrupled, what would you do? Immigrate to that country asap to start working to earn consistent income that will enable you live your dream life.

On the contrary, Chinese and Indians come from a country doing better than Nigeria, they know there are numerous problems in Nigeria they can offer Solutions to and build a business or company around it, they come equipped from their country. Chinese government for instance give Chinese investors huge capital for business, and they also come equipped with the skills and technical know how, so its usually easy for them to startup a new business in Nigeria.

So in summary, Nigerians need to japa to work in already established businesses to enable them save before talking about starting their own business. But Indians and Chinese only come to Nigeria to do business and go, so they come equipped with their capital, skill and technical know how. So it's not as if Nigerians aren't seeing the opportunities, they are seeing it but only those that have the capital, skill and technical know how can startup a business.

There is a difference between economic migrant and an investor. Most Indians, Chinese, etc come to Nigeria as investors while Nigerians japa to other countries as economic migrants that arrive their destination country empty handed and need a job to start a life
The self-hate of the black African man is wreaking greater damage on the black man than the racism of the non-blacks who flock to Africa

Purely from the standpoint of an impartial observer of religious faiths in general, one cannot help but note how the Religion of Peace indoctrinates cult followers to develop a grandiose sense of entitlement that is ALWAYS justified in the minds of the cult devotees by invoking the Sky Daddy's name.

A sense of entitlement to dictate what women of ANY faith should wear in public.

A sense of entitlement to forcibly impose cult dictates on the general public by force of arms.

A sense of entitlement to dismember or decapitate non-violent petty thieves, as the mood dictates after invoking the Sky Daddy's name.

A sense of entitlement to block major vehicle roads by sitting in a public thoroughfare while purporting to "pray" to the Sky Daddy.

The list goes on, but suffice to say the now disbanded religious morality police of northern Nigeria will take up arms, and invoke Sky Daddy.

Turning to all things technical for a change, here is an informative video clip about the MQ-9 Reaper surveillance and ground attack drone that MIGHT be circling potential terrorist targets at this very moment aloft in Nigerian skies.

Some fun facts start with the round trip range that the MQ-9 Reaper can cover on a single fuel load, which is about 1,500 miles. Also this drone can remain aloft loitering over potential targets for as long as 20 hours. Since Ghana is just 200 miles from Nigeria, MQ-9 Reaper drones tasked with liquidating Islamist terrorists or their previously hidden sponsors could be launched and operated from Ghana, if a decision is made to avoid using Nigerian military airports due to the risk of spies relaying events to the enemy.

This is deeply vexing. Let me leave the obvious security implications of what you have raised and just drop a funny anecdote.

About 14 years ago I lived in Oniru (VI extension), and there was an MFM Church just across my street. They would play music at an insane volume. One day, I got up, drove my car to their entrance, parked it there and let loose heavy Naija Hip Hop on them. I did that because as loud as their speakers were, the car I had was more than capable of drowning out their noise with its sound system. I just left it there and went back into my house. They had to come and beg me, whereupon I delivered a lecture on noise pollution before relenting.
Ha ha now that is justice ! Who no know go know.

I believe it has happened a number of times before: the specific targeting of Christian days of celebration.
Now that you mention it, I do recall Xmas day mass abductions in Nigeria's recent past.

The question that none of my religious acquaintances ever answer to my satisfaction is as follows :

If God can truly read the thoughts of each and every person, and if God can hear any prayer that is offered by any person even in the privacy of their own home, why in God's name is it necessary to join large crowds inside specific buildings devoted to worship of one God or the other?

A corollary question that that I also pose relates to why frenzied drumming and loudspeakers are used at horrendous volume by houses of worship to assault the eardrums of everyone nearby, if God is actually capable of hearing whispered prayers, and without the need for megaphones and loudspeakers.

People that are celebrating should know that terrorists in Nigeria include IPOB and others deadly groups
The US military action is likely to focus on Islamist terror gangs who deliberately target churches and Christian populations, primarily in Nigeria's Middle Belt and Northern States.

Since the mayhem being perpetrated in Igbo land by vestigial elements of jailed terror kingpin Nnamdi Kanu's illegal militia does NOT specifically target Christians or churches, there are unlikely to be any drone strikes occurring in Nigeria's south east, UNLESS targets of opportunity are slated for impromptu explosive incineration based on real-time security assessments emanating from any specific region of Nigeria.

One can only hope that this news of Uncle Sam's Xmas gift to terrorists in Nigeria is factual and due for immediate implementation.

OP, I thank you for being the first to publish this delightful news, ASSUMING it is not a fabricated story. This is the Xmas gift Nigeria needs badly.

To any US intelligence analysts who just might be reading posts in this Nairaland forum over coffee and donuts, I would like to humbly suggest to the Pentagon that purely as a show of force and preview of pyrotechnics to come, a few dry-run sorties could be flown by A10 Warthog ground-attack jets skimming the treetops at a thunderous 400 knots airspeed, and low enough to shake the ground under the feet of terrorists in those areas of Nigeria where they are known to be prevalent.
Politics › Re: US Group Raises Alarm On Christmas Day Planned Attacks In Nigerian Communities, by Jakumo(m):
Threats to churches on Xmas day must be taken very seriously by Nigeria's security agencies. In Germany, for example, there have been incidents of cars being driven at speed with the deliberate intent to hit people in crowds, while at the wheel were Islamist terrorists who had years earlier been admitted into Germany as "refugees".

If a nation as technologically advanced as Germany still has to contend with Islamist Grinch-minded terrorists who hate the celebration of Xmas by Christians to the extent that they commit vehicular murder, then it is equally likely that Xmas day will also be singled out as the moment Islamists might launch slave-raids or perpetrate massacres of Christians for no logical reason.

This thread shows the world how bad Nigeria is at the roots. A thread about Nnamdi Kanu once being APGA chairman in the UK, something that has been public knowledge for a long time, has reached 6 pages. Nnamdi Kanu who has been in DSS solitary confinement for the last 5 years, and now sent to Sokoto Prisons

Had this thread been about the five thousand Boko haram fighters that Tinubu has released this year, it would not have gone past page one

Had this thread been about the 200 people slaughtered in Yelwata, Benue, by suspected herdsmen, it would never have reached page six

Had this thread about the mass graves in Bokkos, Plateau State, it would not have reached page six

Had this thread been about the hundreds of armed bandits who went to Bakori LGA, Katsina, to collect peace deal that allows them to go home with their weapons, no chance it would make 6 pages, even with front page

What can make front page, and reach 6 pages is Nnamdi Kanu who has been in DSS custody the last 5 years, now in Sokoto prison, and that he used to be the chairman of a Nigerian political party in another country about 15 years ago!

Isn't that sweet! What a serious country!
Oga Giddy, this opinion you've articulated is yet another clumsy attempt to claim that all who recognize Nnamdi Kanu as an instigator of terrorist attacks must ALSO approve and support Islamist terror gangs, when nothing could be further from the truth. This is a patently erroneous correlation that is not supported by verifiable facts in contemporary Nigeria.

When a gunman opens fire to kill motorists who fled their cars on foot at the scene of a highway blockade by kidnappers, the political, tribal or religious affiliation of that shooter is the FURTHEST thing from the minds of all who flee in terror as the bullets rip the air around them. In other words, a slave-raiding kidnapper terrorist needs no further sub-classification beyond the fact that they pose a deadly risk to the innocent.

I am as excited as a kid on Xmas eve by the prospect that US surveillance and ground attack drones will soon map and then methodically destroy numerous kidnapper and terrorist militia camps that are spotted in Middle Belt and Northern Nigeria. By the same token I vicariously rejoice with innocent civilians living in Igbo land, any time news filters out detailing another army-supervised mass culling of "unknown gunmen" in Nigeria's south east, given the reputation for sadistic barbarity of those "stay-at-home" enforcement militia gunmen.

A terrorist is a terrorist, regardless of tribe, race, or ideology. In a fair world, any armed individual or group who traumatizes a country's civilian population should be sanctioned with lethal force as an urgent matter of national security. In short sir, all sane Nigerians who celebrate the overdue lifelong caging of terrorist instigator Nnamdi Kanu, would also LOVE to see the photographic results of US drone strikes in Northern Nigeria that reduce Islamist terror gunmen to burnt offerings bound for the bowels of hell.
