The Satan worshippers who kidnapped these men may still choose to kill them once the ransom has been paid, such is their level of demonic sadism.

I urge Nairaland writers to watch the recently released Nollywood movie called "The Herd" whose plot line is clearly inspired by events that have been reported during REAL kidnap incidents in Nigeria. That movie will scare you so much that any time you see cattle blocking the highway, you will panic and reverse at high speed, because you will anticipate that the cattle are deliberately blocking the road to make possible an ambush by Fulani kidnapping slave-raiders.

Hopefully the US drone bombardment program will kick off very soon. The best way to eradicate terrorist kidnappers and slave raiders is to obliterate them from the air by drone.

The image magnification of modern military surveillance drone cameras is so powerful that it is easy for drone operators to zoom in and spot firearms in use, and to simultaneously determine whether the people holding those guns are soldiers, civilian vigilante militiamen, or terrorists who can be fragmented right away.

Uncle Sam should please hurry up with the promised drone cleanup operation slated for Nigeria to eliminate the terrorist hordes facing off against the beleaguered Nigerian military with alarming suicidal audacity.

Let the ranching start from the north. They have large arable land, so what is stopping the governors in the north taking the initiative since Buhari govt. Let be objective in the action we take in this country, we all know there is trust issues amongst us. Presently, there are private investments in ranching in SE. So what is stopping them in the north, are they waiting as usual for government feeding bottle?
This point you have made is KEY to lasting peace. Provided that the ancestral land or purchased land of the Fulani herdsmen in NORTHERN Nigeria is the ONLY location where the proposed cattle ranches are to be created, then there will be no need for US drones to bombard all suspected kidnappers seen escorting cattle as a pretense for their true slave-raiding missions in SOUTHERN Nigeria, where crops are also destroyed on purpose in a systematic land grab by force of arms that is still in progress.

Politics › Re: Tinubu Orders Security Overhaul, Moves To Convert Grazing Reserves To Ranches by Jakumo(m): 3:33pm On Dec 11, 2025
Those ranches should naturally be located in the ancestral homeland of the cow owners, which means they all need to be constructed in land either owned or bought by Fulanis in their homeland of Futa Djallon Highlands in Senegal, or in the very far north of Nigeria, so there will be no further reason to see those hideous terrorist kidnappers and their cattle anywhere that civilized people reside in Nigeria.

olaiya2007:
State of Emergency that will lead to what exactly
A State of Emergency declared by ECOWAS probably means that the remaining democratically-governed nations of the West African seaboard have arrived at the realization that the specter of Islamist terror networks taking root in Africa MUST be met with a cohesive and collective multinational military response that draws on assets contributed by ALL nations comprising sub-Saharan West Africa, in partnership with a robust and direct military assistance package delivered by the USA and EU, who are now wading into the fray in urgent response to the enormity of the Islamist terror threat that looms larger by the week all across West Africa.

President Bola Tinubu's pragmatic political and military advisors all recognized the perils posed to the general populace by Chinese or Russian boots on the ground in Nigeria, given the track record of China in the shady realm of violent illegal mineral resource mining and plunder globally.

Nigeria's erudite leadership also took into account the sordid reputation of Russian military personnel for acts of horrendous brutality perpetrated against civilian villagers in The Central African Republic and Mali, among other African nations who now rue the day they partnered with Russia's Wagner Group. Military assistance offered by totalitarian dictatorships is best avoided, as the pogroms of recent history reminds us all too well.

Wisely side-stepping whatever military assistance China or Mad Vlad Putin's Russia might offer to Nigeria with the most ulterior of motives, Bola Tinubu prudently chose the surest path to regional stability and lasting peace, by pushing through his government's acceptance of the generous and timely offers pledging military support now extended at the 11th hour by the worlds foremost secular democracies - The USA and The UK, among other EU partners in a coalition of the willing.

Destiny is gradually molding President Bola into the role of a wartime leader that is eminently worthy of the name, who remains attentively calm, calculating, and composed while making sound, cautious, and well-planned strategic decisions despite the monumental pressure he faces as the Commander in Chief of the nation's military now tasked with confronting an Islamist slave-raiding reign of terror currently spreading with alarming speed southwards from the north and middle belt of Nigeria where the conflict smoldered away for a decade, claiming farmers' lives by the score.

The die is cast, and the instruments of war are being assembled for deployment on Nigerian soil.

May the evil meet their match and thus meet their maker as efficiently as American pest eradication technology can make possible.

God bless Nigeria. God bless America. God bless Great Britain.

First and foremost, there is a history of the US trying to place its Africomm (African Command) in Africa. It was asked of the noble president Yaradua and he refused. They attempted to take it to Niger, we have seen the results. It is currently in Germany I believe.

And know this: Germany till today is not yet independent from the USA.

Yes, as for cooperation that has always existed in many ways and through many agreements. In Ghana, in Nigeria, in many countries not only in Africa but all over the world.

The resistance of a government, when it comes to having a military base of a foreign power (and that of the most powerful country in the world for that matter) on your soil, is most reasonable. In most cases, it transforms your country instantly into not just a client state, but a virtual colony. And in this, try not to compare Nigeria and Ghana. There are significant differences in terms of size, economy and international importance. A Nigerian president, be he Christian, Muslim or even animistic, must be watchful on account of the sheer size of Nigeria. At 230 million people we are circa 2/3rds of the population of the entire USA, with circa the size of Texas. We cannot, and should not be bullied. The idea that the USA should place a massive military base on our soil is extremely misguided. Military cooperation and intelligence sharing is enough.
Your mention of the huge US military presence in Ramstein Airforce Base in Germany caught my attention, because that long-standing defensive collaboration between the US and Germany is a fine example of how a democratic nation in the heart of Europe can retain its sovereignty while allowing the world's most potent military force to maintain a strong presence which includes the housing of nuclear-capable strategic bombers, amid a phalanx of assorted combat aircraft. Now that the forces of Russia's deranged tyrant, Mad Vlad Putin, are waging war against Ukraine right on the very doorstep of Western Europe, that US presence in Germany is proving to be KEY to maintaining our planet's fragile balance of power, and averting WW3 in the process.

While the Russian Bear has remained Europe's main security concern for the twenty years since Mad Vlad Putin rose to power as Russia's reigning demagogue, the continent of Africa's greatest peril is that of Islamist terror, which we are now learning has been covertly funded by Middle Eastern Islamic theocracies such as the UAE, whose military support for East Africa's myriad Islamic terror cults is at this very moment sustaining and fueling a fundamentalist genocide of biblical proportions in Sudan, where civilians are being massacred on an industrial scale.

Now, if Germany has been able to rely on American military support to keep from being annexed by the megalomaniac tyrant Putin in Russia, then Nigeria would be wise to recognize that the multi-billion dollar funding of Islamic terror by Middle Eastern sheikhdoms poses a grave danger that looms large enough to warrant the presence of a counterbalancing force that will stand up against Islamist invaders and land grabbers who seek to turn all nations of the entire West African seaboard into an Islamic backwater comparable to Afghanistan.

Hopefully, President Bola Tinubu will seize this initiative and formally oversee the construction of not one, but several fully equipped and strategically located US military bases from which combat sorties can be launched within minutes of threats being identified anywhere within Nigerian territory. If Germany can maintain its cultural and political independence while for decades hosting a massive US airbase with thousands of military personnel on standby, then there is no reason to be concerned that Nigeria could become an American colony simply because US military hardware is based on Nigerian soil to maintain the balance of influence in the sub-region, by checkmating Islamist expansionism that is already manifesting all over Nigeria, at great cost in lives and property.

Re: the bold. I have debated you too much already on this subject (I mean, for my friend). Please do note that this statement you have just made again is wrong.
My knowledge of US military bases is limited, so I truly do not know whether there is currently a US base in Ghana. All the same, it is exceedingly rare to hear of any Islamist land grabs, mass kidnappings and church massacres in Ghana, so clearly there is a STRONG deterrent in place in Ghana that is keeping terror gangs away, but whose exact nature remains a mystery to me.

China does have a massive expatriate population living permanently in Ghana, where they busy themselves mining for precious metals and operating numerous retail outlets, so it does strike me as odd that the USA might have a huge base in an African country where China has a strong economic and expansionist interest.

OBA2503:
Nigeria's loss is Ghana's gain.

The strategic positioning of the US military in Ghana has helped the country to be relatively peaceful within Ghana's territory where insurgents and terrorists are deliberately avoiding lest they incur the full wrath of the US army.

One of the reasons why a US military base is not stationed in Nigeria is because of the Muslim-Islam backed northern influence of the Nigerian military. The heart and soul of Nigeria's military is controlled by the Islamic think-tank who would not want a majorly Christian force (US military) to provide intelligence, information and knowledge sharing with the Nigerian army.

Why do I say this? The Sultan was an ex-soldier. Sheik Gumi was an ex-army captain. Gen. Buratai, (Muslim), Gen. Danbazzau (Muslim) all from one type of religion.

Strategically, Nigeria's military is Muslim dominated with the country's military armament based in the northern part of the country. This is no mistake. It is to ensure the power of the country resides in the hands of northerners. The colonial powers deliberately favored the northern elites when handing over power due to the subservience of the northern leaders during that period believing it will allow the British government to continue to play an important role in its governance and leadership.

Today, what we have is a sinister plot for domination, religious extremism, power at all cost, violence and land grab.

The US base located in Kainji area is a welcome development albeit a little too late when terror cells and radicalized elements have deeply entrenched themselves within every region around the country.

I pray for peace in Nigeria. This is the only way for rapid growth and development.
President Tinubu needs all the support he can get from both within Nigeria and outside partners (US, France and Britain).
I had always wondered how it came to be that Fulani terrorists and land grabbers dare not try their goofy antics in Ghana, but now, thanks to your brilliant and insightful writeup, I am hearing for the first time that a well-established US military base in Ghana has been there protecting Ghana all along. Wow!

Maybe after US forces commence live fire operations in Nigeria to reduce and neutralize all terrorists be they Islamist or otherwise, the current leadership of Nigeria then do the right thing by welcoming the construction of a massive US military base on Nigerian soil, strategically located on the outskirts of Lagos, perhaps, where ground attack jets can keep Islamist invaders out using the only language the bad guys understand.

Furthermore, the Nigerian government must demonstrate firm and practical resolve never to engage in negotiations with bandits or terrorist groups. Any individual collaborating or maintaining informal ties with such actors should be promptly apprehended. Likewise, all individuals previously described as “repentant” terrorists should be taken into custody and subjected to due legal prosecution without delay.
I cannot put words to how much I loathe that phrase "repentant terrorists". These are monsters who have committed mass murder and kidnapping, which would qualify any other offender for the death penalty, yet, simply because a suspect was part of an invading terrorist militia, they can go scot free when apprehended simply by playing their "repentance" get-out-of-jail-free card.

As you rightly point out, all who have shed blood or engaged in kidnapping belong behind bars for a very long time, REGARDLESS of whether or not they claim to be "repentant".

Unfortunately, drones attack alone can’t solve the problem. We had a very good opportunity of invading Niger and restoring a cooperative government to that country but Obidients made so much noise and one of them even leaked our military movement plan on social media in an act of espionage. Today, the entire North West is in crisis as a result of the massive inflow of terrorists and weapons from the Sahel through Niger Republic.

So, how will the drones stop the inflows? While all options are welcomed, regional cooperation is still the key. We need the governments in Niamey, Njamena, Bamako, and up Tripoli to be on the same page with us. Without that, we may need to find the money to fence our borders completely if we want to eliminate terrorism fully.
As you rightly observe, Seun, trans-border governmental cooperation between Nigeria, Niger, Chad, and Cameroons, will be essential to the establishment of a unified front to effectively counter the Islamist terror threat whose roots are traceable in part to the disbandment of overthrown Libyan leader Ghadaffy's black African militias, who subsequently fanned out southwards across the Sahara desert in search of employment as battle-hardened guns-for-hire.

All the same and in the meantime as the wheels of diplomacy slowly turn, drones are the perfect instrument of selective annihilation with which to dispatch bad actors worldwide swiftly and without the logistical burden of awaiting governmental authorization. For example, any group of men spotted from the air wielding infantry weapons deep in the rural Nigerian hinterland, or perhaps positioned in ambush beside a major highway, and whose intercepted communications identify them to loitering drones as non-military or vigilante, could become fair game for strafing or missile strikes in the near future. The same sanctions can be applied to the entire terror network and members of its leadership cadre, again with drone-launched ordnance navigating pre-surveilled ground features to a GPS-defined target.

Ultra-high magnification Infrared cameras that are the night-vision eyes of military drones mean there is nowhere to hide, day or night, for groups of outlaws whose weaponry will stand out like a sore thumb to drone operators. While drone strikes will not eliminate all Islamist terror gang members currently camped in Nigeria's northern and Middle Belt scrubland, the onset of surgically precise aerial bombardment will dramatically reduce the prevalence of kidnapping and mass attacks that have been on the uptick recently in Nigeria.

It is curious that at least for now Ghanaian air bases are the point of departure to Nigeria selected for US military aircraft and drones heading out on surveillance missions or combat sorties, despite the existence of a renewed and strengthened alliance between Nigerian and US armed forces to counter the spreading terror threat across the West African sub-region.

One would have thought that a Nigerian Air Force base such as the one at Kainji, would shorten the response time for US drones or manned aircraft in the event that terror attacks are reported to be in progress at any of the various hot-spots around Nigeria. The decision of US forces to launch this urgent military intervention from a Ghanaian staging post may have been due to a security imperative which took precedence over the tactical convenience offered by Nigerian airports closer to the target zones, at least for now.

Finally on the same theme of aviation, it would be a huge morale booster for all peace-loving Nigerians if US forces were to launch a few low level flights of A10 Warthog ground-attack jets, purely as shows of force to assure Nigerians living in the nation's danger zones, that air power capable of inflicting spectacular damage, is just a few minutes away when the need arises, and that Islamist invaders FINALLY have something tangible to fear deep down at a visceral level.

Well you are entitled to your opinion, which I dont share. One thing is clear: BAT made no such "masterstroke" stance against China in anyway shape or form: if he had, the Chinese would not still be ripping up our mines (several of which I have been too over legal issues) till date. Neither would several billion dollar Chinese financing deals still be in the pipeline and on the way which far exceed any amount of Western financial aid. So please, let us tone down on attributing genius to Napoleon. I quote from George Orwell's "Animal Farm" - as follows -

"The pigs were in ecstasies over Napoleon's cunning. By seeming to be friendly with Pilkington he had forced Frederick to raise his price by twelve pounds. But the superior quality of Napoleon's mind, said Squealer, was shown in the fact that he trusted nobody, not even Frederick. Frederick had wanted to pay for the timber with something called a cheque, which, it seemed, was a piece of paper with a promise to pay written upon it. But Napoleon was too clever for him. He had demanded payment in real five-pound notes, which were to be handed over before the timber was removed. Already Frederick had paid up; and the sum he had paid was just enough to buy the machinery for the windmill."

Let me add that the said bank notes turned out to be fake.

It seems to me, that just like the pigs (the governing class in the book) you are currently "in ecstasies over Napoleon's cunning." Try to temper the ecstasy because it has already led you into praising Napoleon for things he most certainly has not done.

And still, for the life of me, I cannot comprehend why you say that Bola announced his "strategically brilliant military alliance with the USA, Britain and France" - repeatedly attempting to ignore the fact that you know that alliance was forced on him, stampeded indeed, with threats and insults of the highest order. Jaks, you are not addressing children. How can it be that these forced actions followed with threats of invasion are what you reserve to be for the credit and genius of Bola? Its just amazing that you can say that.

However, you are entitled to your opinion and do know that my great love of you will persist always.
Your comments about the debt burden Nigeria has incurred with China are cause for worry, concerning how that indebtedness will be discharged if Nigeria falls behind in its repayment schedule, given the loan shark extortionate clauses typically buried deep in the contract documents signed by Nigeria and China.

When it comes to the question of whether Tinubu's acceptance of American and European military assistance was a decision made of his own free will, as opposed to having been made under duress, I would say that the end justifies the means, in that regardless of how such an urgently needed Nigerian and American military cooperation pact came about, it is an alliance that is both positive and timely, which came to fruition during the presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

1. You speak as though Bola acted decisively, wisely and altruistically when even you know that whatever he is doing in the last few weeks is as a direct result of the fear and pressure Trump subjected him to. How does that make him a wise leader and convert you to a die hard fan? So you are converted when your leader is literarily forced, bullied, insulted and threated into action by a foreign power - a power who he knows has the capacity to unseat him? That is what impresses you? That is what converts you into a die hard fan?

+2. Nigeria is not a secular state, it only claims to be. No secular state has religious based criminal laws such as Sharia.

+3. In the red part of your post you surprisingly try to attribute the economic failure of this government to Covid and even global recession. Uncle Jaks, not even you can wish away the hasty and ill considered way in which subsidies were removed in a single day and the naira floated shortly thereafter, a combination with such bad timing especially in terms of proximity to one another that would crash any economy in a blink. How could you for heavens sake, even if you agree with those policies or the manner of their implementation, ignore them, only to reach for Covid and global recession as excuses?
Deep Sight you speak the truth about the nosedive of Nigeria's economy that is traceable to the abrupt removal of subsidies by the incoming administration. The subsequent precipitous devaluation of the naira alone has wrought devastation to the hard-currency worth of any asset held in Nigeria. On a personal finance level as one with modest investments in Nigeria, I suffered as a direct result oft he aforementioned economic policies that are yet to yield tangible benefits.

Despite my gripes about economic matters in Nigeria, I remain keenly aware that it is only when there is peace, with safe roads, cities and towns, that the citizens of any nation can enjoy the luxury of indulging in economic analysis. Right up until the point at which the Bola Tinubu government formally announced its strategically brilliant military alliance with the USA, Britain and France, I had been consumed with a gnawing sense unease with each new report indicating that terrorist slave-raids were occurring much deeper into the previously stable south of the nation, than at any time since the Islamist invasion kicked off in 2009.

Former Edo State Governor Oshiomole is among several Nigeria's of note who recently again raised the alarm about illegal Chinese gold, tantalite, and lithium miners operating in northern Nigerian Nasarawa and Gombe States, where low-flying helicopters ferry in arms for freelance Islamist gunmen to use against villagers living in the vicinity of areas where precious metals abound. Bola Tinubu's REFUSAL to choose China as a military partner in Nigeria's escalating war against terrorist slave-raiders can only therefore be described as a political masterstroke, given the conflict of interest that China has all over Africa, a land of bounteous natural resources.

Russian troops from the Wagner Group have earned a reputation for frequent massacres in all African countries where they were invited to intervene, from the Central African Republic to Mali. By steering well clear of Mad Vlad Putin's henchmen in Africa even in this Nigeria's desperate hour of need, Bola Tinubu again displayed a keen understanding of contemporary geopolitics. Putin, who has thus far in 2025 presided over the death of a million of his own Russian soldiers in his futile land-grab war in Ukraine, is NOT the sort of person whose offer of military assistance is worthy of consideration even for a second by any well-informed and wise African leader.

In short, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is my nomination for Africa's Man of the Year 2026. No shaking. We dey follow am for back.

As a person who has never cast a vote in any election anywhere on earth since the day I was born, and who cannot therefore lay claim to any political affiliation, a personal appraisal of any government running a given nation can best be informed by the two key indexes of civilized life and peaceful existence, namely security, and the economy.

In fairness to the currently elected federal government administering the Nigerian nation's affairs today as the year 2025 gives way to 2026, long festering security challenges, in concert with a post-COVID global economic recession, added up to enormous challenges that don't lend themselves to speedy resolution.

Now that the might of the US military is confirmed to be operating collaboratively to battle Nigeria's terror invasion alongside France, the UK and other well-meaning nations, even the most jaded observer can rest assured that by officially teaming up with the militaries of the democratic West, the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is FINALLY acting with the urgency necessitated by the rapidly spreading bloodstain of terror in Nigeria.

"Better late than never", as old saying goes. As a Muslim president of a secular democracy already under silent diplomatic pressure from Red China and Russian tyrant-warlord Putin to lean the wrong way, Bola Tinubu wisely took his time to consult, confer, and consider before doing the RIGHT thing, by allowing Uncle Sam to send a few of the toys in his inventory of ground-attack drones, with no strings attached besides perhaps favorable pricing for Nigeria's crude oil exports, after the smoke clears, when the last Islamist terrorist has either fled back to Mali, or has been recycled into organic agricultural fertilizer by millimeter-precise drone strikes.

All things considered, this one-time neutral political fence-sitter is now a die-hard Bola Tinubu supporter who is thankful that Tinubu recognized the enormity of the challenge posed to Nigeria by well-funded Islamist slave-raiding hordes, before acting swiftly and in good faith to accept offers of military assistance from the USA, France and the UK, rather than from any of the usual suspects featured in our planet's despot rogues gallery, who ALL harbor dark ulterior motives with genocidal implications, for Africa.

This is a sweet news to start a new week. Happy Sunday to Nairalanders. Hot death to the terrorists and their enablers
Yes indeed this is very good news that is long overdue. Looking forward to seeing some bomb damage assessment photographs to illustrate the response that kidnapper and terror gangs can expect to be applied in the very near future, literally anywhere in Nigeria, and without notice.

US reconnaissance flights are now CONFIRMED to be prowling the skies over Ekiti and Ondo states, presumably to compile a target list of terrorist encampments, preparatory to the commencement of a precision ground-pounding tactical explosive demolition of all terrorist encampments located beneath the thick tropical rainforest canopy of Ekiti and Ondo States that cannot any longer serve as concealment for the Islamist invaders.

All timber thieves, poachers and farmers would be well advised to vacate those forests FAST and with immediate effect, because the chit is about to hit the fan in a meaningful way that will leave NO survivors to describe what it is like facing the wrath of Uncle Sam's drones.

Here is a link to this report that now eliminates all doubts regarding the grisly fate that is all set to befall those invading terror gangs who have filtered to the southwest of Nigeria for openers, before the main event gets under way in the Middle Belt and north of Nigeria.

Simultaneously, US officials from the Department of War have touched down in Abuja to fine tune the cooperative military operation that may or may not be formally announced to the public.

And now, without further ado, let the bombardment commence with full fury and clinical precision, working its way north from the forests of Ekiti to the plains of Kwara, Kogi, Ebonyi, and Benue states, inexorably north to the semi-arid grassland terrorist enclaves of northern Nigeria.

God bless America.

Long live Donald Trump, President and Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces.

God bless Nigeria.

Thought he said he already knows the law more than even his lawyers and judges
Yes, that was Kanu's amusing claim, but he went even further by offering to teach law to the presiding judge in his own case.
