She pouted her lips in anticipation of the kiss she had longed for.

As their lips locked, a fire erupted in her belly consuming all her senses.

Oh! Ok. Here's my entry:
....As Estharfabian plugged her Nokia 3310 into the power outlet, she felt volts of electricity flow through her. She jumped up and checked are body for burns, but there were none; as usual, her body was as fresh as expired frozen chicken. No worries. But still, she didn't feel right; something had changed. Then her brother, Justin, walked in and before he could utter a word, Estharfabian suddenly blurted out: "you need money, you want to pay Roseline a visit, and you plan to 'have fun', then break her heart later." Justin quickly left the room scared and confused. As he was closing the door behind him, Estharfabian continued, "you're thinking I'm crazy, and that Onila and Ireneony have been teaching to me drink palmwine and sniff superglue, and that I would have been better off being friends with Cutesexy1 so you could at least make a move on her". At this point Justin was having serious palpitations and just ran out of the house wondering what had come over Estharfabian. Suddenly Estharfabian began to realize what had happened: her quick encounter with electricity had given her the ability to read minds. She was elated, so she sat on the edge of her bed and thought about all the good things she could do with her newfound power and then suddenly proceeded to dump them in recycle bin of her mind. That would've been enough for any other person; but not Estharfabian. She deleted all the good thoughts from the recycle bin of her mind and left the bad ones. But Estharfabian only had one dominant bad thought: world domination. She thought of how she could surpass Hitler and it brought tears of joy to her eyes.
And in reality, no-one could stop Estharfabian. Except me: I can stop her by abruptly terminating the story here.
Estharfabian, you think say you get power? Na me write story. I get power pass you. Thank your stars I'm in a good mood. I could have turned you into a donkey for your sinister plans in the story, but alas, I'm a nice guy.

Someone please tell Etisalat that I'm waiting for my $100,000. Okay, it is only $1,000? I can still manage it for fuel. cheesy

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 2016/2017 Chevening Scholarship Applicants. by Jamesqu(m): 12:47pm On Feb 02, 2016
How the preliminary assessment is done...and by who

Chevening Scholarships 2016/17 Reading Committee

We are pleased to announce applications for 2016/17 Chevening Scholarships Reading Committees are now open.

Chevening Scholarships

Chevening Scholarships are the UK government's global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. Offered in over 160 countries and territories (excluding the EU and USA), awards are for a one year Master's degree in any subject at any UK university.

There are over 44,000 Chevening alumni worldwide who together comprise an influential and highly regarded global network.

The programme grants awards to outstanding scholars with proven leadership potential and a commitment to creating positive change in their respective fields. All scholars return to their home countries after their year in the UK to implement the skills they have gained.

For the 2015/16 academic year we welcomed over 1,800 scholars to the UK, a significant increase on the 650 scholars from the previous year.

For more information on Chevening Scholarships please visit www.chevening.org

Chevening Selection Process

Applications for Chevening Scholarships are received online via the Chevening website and all applications go through a rigorous selection process. Eligible applications are assessed by an independent Reading Committee based in London who create a long list of applicants. Longlisted applications are then reviewed by the British Embassies and High Commissions overseas who create a shortlist of candidates to interview. Interviews are held in early 2016 before final selections are made.

Reading Committees

Reading Committees play a crucial part in the selection of Scholars and are responsible for assessing and evaluating applications. Each reading committee comprises of two members; a Regional Specialist and an Academic Specialist, who will read applications from one or more countries from the same region of the world. Reading Committee members will be assigned based on their experience and areas of expertise. For both roles, experience of working with scholarship programmes would be a distinct advantage.

Regional Specialists are expected to have substantial international experience across a wide range of countries and/or a region as a whole. They will be asked to assess the applicant's leadership experience and networking skills; their potential and aspirations to be a future leader, decision maker and influencer; and their ability to influence change in their home country. Regional Specialists will also be expected to submit a short written report summarising the applications they have reviewed, and detailed guidance will be provided for this.

Academic Specialists should have substantial experience in assessing candidates for entry onto UK postgraduate courses, from a range of subject areas. They will be asked to assess the applicant's academic background; the relevance and suitability of their chosen fields of study to their future career and development of their sector and country; and whether they have fully researched and can explain their chosen courses and institutions. The Academic Specialist will also be expected to provide feedback to the Regional Specialist for their written report.

Reading Committee Assessment Process

The Reading Committee will be asked to review individual applications and make an assessment on the quality of each applicant against the Chevening selection criteria. These criteria include leadership and networking skills, academic background, potential, career and future plans. Extensive guidance and training will be provided.

Each application must be read and independently assessed by both members of the Reading Committees. On average it should take between 7-10 minutes to assess one application but committee members will find that they review applications at a quicker rate as they progress through the assessment process.

Reading Committee members will submit their score directly on to the online system and the combined scores of the two Reading Committee members will be used to prepare a long list of applications that will be sent to British Embassies and High Commissions overseas.

There will be a mandatory training session for all Reading Committee members on Monday 23 November where members will be briefed on the marking criteria and given the opportunity to mark test applications and to meet the other committee members. Any subsequent meetings will be held virtually.

We are not able to provide a definitive number of applications that each Reading Committee will assess because applications are still open. However, this year we plan for each Reading Committee member to review between 500-800 applications each.

Timeline

All Reading Committee members should be available to attend the mandatory training session in London on Monday 23 November 2015. Travel costs up to a set limit will be reimbursed, and further information will be provided closer to the time.

Chevening applications will be available for Reading Committees to assess on 25 November 2015. We are working to a tight timeline, so all scores from Reading Committee members must be submitted by 3 January 2016 at the latest.

Payment

Reading Committee members will receive financial compensation for their time and valued contributions. You will receive £1.50 per application assessed and the total lump sum you will receive is dependent on the number of applications assessed. Regional Specialists will receive an additional £200 for the completion of a short written report.

Paying tax and national insurance is the responsibility of the committee member, and payment will be in sterling to a UK bank account.

How to apply

Please send a CV along with a covering letter, outlining:

(a) Full name
(b) Postal and email addresses
(c) Phone number(s)
(d) Position you are applying for (you may apply for both)
(e) Suitability for the role(s) including country-specific interest/knowledge (see Regional Breakdown annex)
(f) Confirmation of availability (for dates stated in the timeline section above)
(g) Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement

Applications and enquiries should be emailed to sifting@chevening.org for the attention of Julia Phelps, International Liaison Manager in the Chevening Secretariat.

The deadline to apply is Friday 30 October 2015 at 17:00 (GMT). Telephone interviews will take place between 9 and 13 November.

Thanks for the words of encouragement sir. I know you were always there to support us in trying times.
Here we will like you to deal with the specifics of what Brabus/NextHome/Bosun Davies did wrong and how you think we can best serve your interest.

Morning Brabus,

Do you know what it took that man to write that?

Please the attachment to your response, IMO, is not necessary....but I may be wrong.

If I were you, I will approach him offline to discuss/smoothen things out.

This is someone who really like s you and considers himself a brother.

Whoever did the block work on the first floor did the wrong job... the pillar was there after the decking slab...
If Brabus was fired after the decking slab (as he claimed), then the person who did the upper floor is in the wrong.
But every boo-boo until the decking slab belongs to Brabus... for supplying the labor and supervision... regardless of wheiter
the Client supply the materials or not. And is it a general practice for the hollow blocks be filled with cement bags? Not with/for me.

Hajji M.

I agree with you Alhaji.

Assuming the contractor didn't see the workers putting bags, nylon, slippers in the cement work...which one is pillar on block ehn....this is high level grade one madness.

I pity the client.

It seems God did not answer my prayer...cos I just have to comment on this thread finally.

I don't know when most of you joined nairaland or started visiting property section but this brabus palaver no be today...

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore the guy's business packaging, but as poor guy hustling in America...dem no born me to give him job.

I am sure he will attack me after this...I hope he has the wisdom not too...@Brabus, I will soon call you.

I was looking for someone to do my project for me and I fell in love with the guy...but being a project minded person, I decided to ask more builders to tender...even though I knew in my heart it was Brabus I was going to give it to.

To cut a long story short, I went with another contractor on NL and I have no regrets....

Why I didn't go with Brabus again...the week I was to call him and have my people meet him to sign, Ahonohai case hit NL...the LSPDC flat renovation...

To God who made me I defended Brabus...attacked people, pleaded with people...some days later, the PH problem started.

I quickly borrowed myself brain...this my tashere dollars, to enter voice mail...mbanu!

I even went as far as to ask Alhaji to ban him but everyone was defending him...the packaging was just too foolproof.

You go don fall yakata before you know what's up....despite this Qc1...who I personally advised o, here on NL..still shook head.

What came out of it...iranu, abasha etc......

The funny thing is that a lot of you probably saw all his dealings and complains from other clients but still opted for him....as we speak, some dundees reading this thread are finalizing with him....see, you can't give what you don't have...Brabus is not a builder or qualified project manager for that matter.

Do you think project management is just about organising sand and cement?

Before I forget, when Segcymoor outed him as a computer guy...i fight am o...I ask am say how does it matter, now it is there for all to see.

Brabus, I hope u purchase the wisdom not to respond, but I doubt you can afford it....

Your own people say... this firewood is not good, that one is not good...are you not going to cook.

At the last count, you are closing in on ten nairalanders complaining about you...are they all mad....and we don't know your off NL reputation.

I am yet to read a complain about spyder, segcy, HsL, aventures...na only u dey here.

I am sure your house in sagamu, if we check, you will also complain about the work you yourself did....

You are a young man, calm down and do business the right way, fighting ALLLL your clients will not build your reputation.

I hope this helps you, if it doesn't...I am using free office wifi!
