Please, you guys should stop unnecessary curse you are putting on each other's head.

Both the leaders and followers of this country are bad.
Average Nigerians are corrupt, let another person become president tomorrow, its will still the same blame game.

How can we eradicate this endemic problem ( corruption) in our system?

It start from me and you, let's reform ourselves from home, stop cutting corners, follow the law, respect each other's boundary and stop religion bigotry.

May God raise Nigeria to be among the best country in the world, free of corruption, war and bad leader.

Myhelper1:
The Naija Mindset

I recall when I came to London in 2009. My dad was at Heathrow Airport to welcome me. He bought an Oyster card for me. The card is your ticket to ride on all London buses and trains. You can buy a weekly, monthly, daily or ‘Pay As You Go’ pass.

The Oyster card opens the barriers before you board the train or exit the train station. So, as my dad used his ticket, the barriers opened, he went through and just before it would close, I quickly followed him behind and passed through.

I don’t know why I did that. But my first guess would be, it was the Naija sharp guy thinking that made me pass quickly without paying. My dad was terribly upset and asked me to return and pay.

A few months later, I got on a bus and with the same mindset of a ‘sharp guy’, I didn’t pay. Normally, there are no ticket inspectors on the bus or trains. They come occasionally, but you cannot tell when. So, on this fateful day, they came, checked, and noticed I did not use my card. Instantly I was fined £20 on a journey that would have cost me only £1.30 had I used my Oyster card. A big lesson I learnt. Since then, I have never entered the public transport without paying the appropriate fare.

Later when I settled and got my apartment, I went with my dad to buy a second-hand television at a charity shop. We bought it for £25. Within one week, I got a letter from TV Licensing that I was to pay £145 each year for watching a TV. My Naija Mindset kicked in again. I said to myself, “TV that I bought for £25 I will now spend £145 to watch?” “for What? As in Why?” I continued to murmur. Then I heard stories about people who often refuse to open their doors to the TV licensing officials who come to check if you own a TV (again, they don’t tell you they are coming, they just appear).

Since I refused to pay the money. I also made up my mind not to be opening my door to strangers. One Saturday morning, I heard a knock on the door. I peeped and couldn’t tell who the person was, so I didn’t open the door. The person left a letter for me through the letterbox. I opened it and saw that it was from the TV Licensing. These were the exact words in the letter, “IT IS NOT IF WE CATCH YOU, IT IS WHEN WE CATCH YOU” and the letter ended with, “YOU WILL BE FINED UP TO A MAXIMUM OF £1,000.”

I paid the £145 immediately. I paid because I was tired of playing hide-and-seek. I paid because I couldn’t afford a £1,000 fine. Since then, I have paid my TV Licensing fee every year for 12 years now and the charge is now £159/year.

In 2014, while on my way to church, I parked at a bus stop. A week later, a penalty notice was sent to my address with a photo of my car on the bus lane. They also included a link for me to watch the video evidence. I was fined £140. I challenged their decision and explained that the back door of the car was not shut so I stopped to check. That I did not want to endanger other road users. I asked them to watch the clip again to see how I stopped, came down, and checked the back door before driving off. After their investigations, they accepted my explanation and cancelled the fine.

You see how an effective system has helped to change my mindset?

Let me share other examples of effective systems in the UK:

(1) The police can use your car’s plate number to retrieve the name of the owner, the registered address and can check whether the car is road worthy or insured.

(2) Financial institutions can use your name, date of birth and address to check whether you are credit worthy. They have a database for people’s credit history.

(3) Education (state-funded) is free from nursery up to secondary school for every child in the UK whether they are citizens or not. Healthcare is also free.

(4) When you reach 40 years, your doctor sends you a letter that you are due for a FREE full medical check-up.

(5) Nobody is above the law. Politicians pay parking fines. The police too get parking tickets.

(6) A lecturer marks your script and gives you feedback on what you did wrong and what you ought to have done. If you are unhappy with your grade, your work is given to another lecturer to mark and this second marker’s score will be used to decide your score.

These and many more, are examples of how systems help governments and organisations to function effectively.

Sadly, the Naija Mindset we have is that of cutting corners, refusing to be accountable, breaking the law, rewarding criminals, showing off, it’s our turn now, it’s my person, and who we know, etc. No wonder when two Nigerians get into an argument, you hear them say, “Do You Know Who I Am?” and “I Will Deal with You”.

We are agitating for the restructuring of Nigeria. But while we are at it, let us restructure our mindsets too.

Copied!!!
This is apt, God bless you for this piece.

The funniest things about nigerian situation is, despite cutting corners we are still not better off. May God change our heart, change Nigeria for good.
BusinessRe: Best Advice To A Financially Struggling Youth by janga02(m): 10:22pm On Apr 18, 2021
KingOzigi:
I'm on this table bro.

Diff is: I'm presently employed, a 9-5 blue collar job. I work Saturdays and exposed to hazardous chemicals that won't affect me now but in future.

I used to think I've arrived when my ppa retained me after service with a whooping monthly pay of 60k in 2020, fast forward into 2021 my financial needs grew bigger, I had to borrow to pay bills before salary comes, I no longer have time for myself. The most painful part is how I go broke every mid-month. Last week I made up my mind that I was going to quit my job and go into e-hailing services like uber and bolt, I have a good saving culture so I think I'll thrive in that plus I don't have to go broke every mid-month like before. Imagine not being able to eat cos gas got finished and the budget placed for gas wasn't enough cos of an unexpected hike in the cost of gas per kg.

In a bid to have a side hustle, I was scammed off my gas money and I'm just here hungry with my food stuffs staring at me.

9-5 is a scam, I've been there and I'm saying this from experience.

I'm a professional tailor btw but my 9-5 took that away from me. I only have sundays for myself, who works Monday to Saturday and choose to make dress on Sunday when you have to rest and possibly do laundry and house chores? Good thing is that I'm set for my tailoring in terms of equipment but I can't just quit and go into tailoring. Money in tailoring doesn't come on a daily like taxi's does so I'll have to learn driving and start by what I can be earning from on a daily to get me on my feet to start my tailoring in the best of financial clime.

I was born poor, infact I still send my parents money but I believe I won't die like this and neither will they even if age is not on any of our sides.

We will make this money bro, aswear we will. If you can dream it, forget it bro, just don't be distracted, you'll achieve it. I'm not motivating you, I'm just stating a fact.
I understand your plight bro,

But make sure you have something that can take care of your basic needs before you resign from that job.

Things are really tough for low incone salary earner these days. Couple with hyper inflation we are experiencing currently. May God ease our affairs.

Kissing in Europe is a form of greeting bro. It's not same as asking for autograph. You only ask for autograph of someone you're a fan of, which is wrong to be a fan of someone you're officiating cos your impartiality towards that person or group is called into question. And even if it's for his kids, he should've found a more discreet way of getting it privately. The image of a player signing anything for a match official sends the wrong message.

Wendy006:
Hi Folks, to hide my identity i had to use my alternate account. Your advise is hugely needed.

This happened mid 2019, this new guy joined the office from a competition and we were sort of close acquaintance. We managed different zones, so there was no rivalry. Shortly after his arrival, he joined forces with the area manger to pull me down. The guys had this dislike for me, honestly i don't know why despite hitting/surpassing targets time after time and some cases i was a global winner. The hatred was immense that i had to confront them several times, just incase i was unknowingly doing something against their wish. The AM was unable to influence my transfer cos i had some folks at HQ behind me. When this was not achieved, then the scheming began, It got so intense that i had to write the management for a rotation to a different department. The whole Nigeria went berserk with the decision, when i was questioned, i gave them my reason. The rest of what happened should be a story for another day.

Recently, I was sent to audit their records and i found things that once i escalate will instantly cost them both their jobs. The questions remains, if you were in my shoes, what would you do?

Two options
1, escalate, they will both loose their jobs amd possibly detained
2, Give them an opportunity to recover the money or block it with personal funds.

Late scheme of events shows that management is just waiting for a ruse to ask them both to leave, and this should be the final nail on thier coffin. Seems i have been carrying a moral burden since last night.
Don't do what will backfire on you, and please whatever you decide to do, Do it with compassion because they have people that depend on them for survival.

Mother of the year!

This is a great feat achieved by this woman, as this type of thing is very rare in this part of the world.

The woman should be applauded for the part she played by supporting the son to make more money illegally, so the son can intimidate his friends and the society with his ill gotten wealth as that's the new trend now.

Since she's a supporting mother, it won't be a bad idea to imprison both of them for life, so she can show more of her support to her criminal son as the son will need her support more there.
The funniest thing about Nigeria judicial system is, if EFCC is able to convict them, they be given like six months Imprisonment.

Before you know it, they are out to continue their nefarious activities. While people that still phone are given life Imprisonment.

So a friend helped me submit my CV to his company. Though I know not the work but I was briefed and coached on the job.
Three months past and we were still waiting but I was in touch with my friend and never paid much attention to the CV again since I thought I would be called to come over to the company for interview.

Three days ago, I was awakened by my phone ringtone from a deep sleep and next question, where did you work.

My brain na Pentium 3 so it couldn't boot fast. My company is ATY is responded. ATY What.
ATY investment. How many years experience, I forgot what I used on the CV so I dabbled between 2 n 5 but settled on 5years.

What is your duty. I did answered this one correctly and he put off his call promising to get back to me today.

He never introduced himself to me and I was expecting call from three different HR.
My friend just called that the other person he submitted the CV with mine has been text to come to the company on Monday. He wanted to know if I am invited too but not yet.

How can I even explain this to my friend, that I fxcked up on my year of experience?
Just know that what is yours will never pass you bye. If you didn't get invitation it means a better opportunity is waiting for you elsewhere. Pray and be prepared for your own time will surely come.
