PoliticsCourt Orders Unconditional Release Of Pro-biafra Leader Kanu by janzguy(op): 4:01pm On Dec 17, 2015
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered an unconditional release a leader of pro-Biafra leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, from the custody of the Department of State Service.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola in a ruling on Kanu’s bail application held his continued detention for about two months without any pending charges against him against the provisions of section 35(4) of the Constitution.

The judge also set aside an order granted the DSS on November 10, 2015 permitting the DSS to keep Kanu in its custody for 90 days.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Magistrate’s Court in Wuse Zone 2 of the Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday struck out the charges instituted against a Kanu by the DSS.

The DSS had applied for the discontinuance of the case to enable it to file charges of terrorism and terrorism financing against him.

But Justice Ademola ruled on Thursday that with the continued detention of the pro-Biafra leader for over two months showed that the DSS lacked sufficient material to prosecute him or had yet to make up its mind to do so.

PoliticsIs President Buhari The "Messiah" We All Longed For? by janzguy(op): 3:36pm On Dec 17, 2015
It is beginning to dawn on Nigerians that our leaders are bound to lead us nowhere. The aforementioned promised land seems to far to reach. All magnanimous "Manifestos" which were used to woe unsuspecting Nigerians during the electioneering process and all we had been promised by Buhari and the APC led administration have failed to "Manifest", but so far what we have seen is a dwindling economy, low power generation, proposed subsidy removal, high level poverty and naira devaluation.

The Federal Government has so far in the first nine month spent N3.42tn out of the total N4.493tn spending approved in the 2015 budget. These figures are contained in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (2016-2018) sent by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly. Although Naira is relatively stable, it is weak and soft when you compare it to other major currencies like dollar and euro. Presently Nigeria is having one of the lowest debts to GDP ratio in the world. This is coming few months after JP Morgan an American multinational banking and financial services holding company kicked Nigeria out of its ranking. The country had in the last 18 months experienced price and commodity shocks owing to decline in oil prices as well as crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

Corruption has eaten deep into us and has become a name with which we are been addressed worldwide. The former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki's saga has clouded our media space as names of highly placed individuals who had participated in sharing the over N32billion Naira loot are been listed on daily basis.

Insecurity has become a part of us with its maiden name as "Boko Haram, Biafra and Shiite". Just as the memory of over 160 kidnapped girls have been flushed down the drains. Nigerians have so quickly forgotten the epidemic and catastrophical influence this kidnap had and still has on the lives of the affected parents. How painful it is when you realise your daughter is out there, somewhere neither dead nor alive. How painful it is when your daughter who was in her hostel sleeping was whisked away in the dead of the night into the unknown. How miserable it is when you are no longer safe in your fatherland because some unidentified persons find it appealing to ransack your home, burn down your place of worship and kill your beloved ones with explosives. Individuals are treated like refugees in their own home. It is painful to realise that in some part of the country people now live in fear, while does in other parts of the country live free without sympathy or concern for our fellow brothers and sisters who have sleepless nights due to these insurgents. Day by day all you hear of is extra-judicious killings by our security personnels. Yet our leaders sit armed crossed and watch.

What has happened to our groundnut pyramids in the north? The textile industries in the south? The agricultural produce in the east? Our mother land which used to be a multi-exporting nation now only depends on petroleum, whose market value is gradually collapsing. Our currency seems to be dwindling day after day, this same currency we all dreamt would someday compete with the U.S Dollar. Will that day ever come to reality if we continue like this??

Yet before 2015 elections we were promised a "messiah" which would bring a wind of "Chanji". We all waited, clamoured with joy and pondered in anticipation, praying and hoping the divine change comes. Little did we know that it was a replica of the what it used to be. Politician and looters were only recycled.

PoliticsShiite Protest: Northern Governors Summon Emergency Meeting, Call For Calm. by janzguy(op): 7:58am On Dec 17, 2015
Governors of the nineteen northern States, under the auspices of the Northern States Governors Forum, have summoned an emergency meeting to discuss recent happenings in the region, particularly the recent fracas between the Army and Shiite followers under the Islamic Movement, killed in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, who doubles as Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, announced on Wednesday night that the nineteen Governors will be holding an emergency meeting on Saturday in Kaduna.

The venue and time of the meeting has been communicated to members of the forum, he noted.

Shettima's spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau, said in a statement issued at 11pm last night that the decision followed consultations between the Governors on Wednesday night after reviewing recent developments in
parts of northern Nigeria.

He said the northern Governors were worried by the situation and hence their resolve to wade into the matter
with a view to frontally addressing the problem.

The Governors call on citizens and all parties associated with the incident in Zaria to be calm and exercise restraint, assuring that far reaching steps will be taken to guarantee restoration of normalcy in a sustained manner.

The Governors call on citizens to go about their activities peacefully and in obedience to law.

The forum reaffirmed that governments across the nineteen States would at all times take measures that will promote peace and public safety, as well as justice and fairness, to all citizens in line with constitutional provisions.

CelebritiesDrake: I Can Organize Your Life With My New APP! by janzguy(op): 7:29am On Dec 17, 2015
Drake is expanding his horizons beyond hit singles and internet memes . Now trying his hand at tech
start-ups.

The rapper is sinking some of his fortune into an app that organizes people's lives. From the shoes they wear to the shirts on their backs.

We've learned Drake met the founder of the app, Thomas McLeod through a mutual biz partner and both are sneaker heads.

When Thomas told Drake he was launching Omni, Drake jumped to join.
Thomas tells us Drake's way more than an investor. He's looking forward to Drake being involved in the creative, and helping it evolve in the future.

Omni organizes and stores the user's personal items. For example, if Drake has 200 pairs of sneakers, he'd send
them to an Omni facility nearby where they'd be professionally photographed, stored and logged.

When Drake wanted a particular pair, he'd see organized pics, select them, and the pair he wanted would be delivered to his doorstep by an Omni concierge.

Drake's not the only celeb who believes in Omni. Other investors include Sophia Bush, NBA'er David Lee and Scooter Braun.

Phones(PHOTOS): How Urine And Socks Could Be Used To Power Smartphones. by janzguy(op): 6:57pm On Dec 12, 2015
A pair of socks fuelled with urine pumped by the wearer’s footsteps has powered a wireless transmitter to send a signal to a computer.

A combination of urine and socks could one day be used to power mobile phones and other portable and wearable devices, scientists believe. A pair of socks fuelled with urine pumped by the wearer’s footsteps has powered a wireless transmitter to send a signal to a computer.

Experts said it “opens up possibilities” for using urine to power wearable devices . Scientists at the Bristol BioEnergy Centre at the University of the West of England embedded the socks with miniaturised microbial fuel cells (MFCs).

The 24 individual soft MFCs inside the socks were supplied with fresh urine and circulated around by the human operator walking. Normally, such systems would rely on a mains
powered pump to circulate the urine over the MFCs but this experiment relied solely on human activity.

The manual pump was based on a simple fish circulatory system and the action of walking caused the urine to pass over the MFCs and generate energy.

In the experiment, published in the journal Bioinspiration and Biomimetics, soft tubes were placed under the heels of the socks to ensure regular fluid push-pull by walking.

This system successfully ran a wireless transmission board, which was able to send the message “First Wearable MFC” every two minutes to the computer-controlled receiver.

Professor Ioannis Ieropoulos, who led the research, said: “Having already powered a mobile phone with MFCs using urine as fuel, we wanted to see if we could replicate this success in wearable technology,” he said.

“We also wanted the system to be entirely self-sufficient, running only on human power - using urine as fuel and the action of the foot as the pump.

“This work opens up possibilities of using waste for powering portable and wearable electronics.

“For example, recent research shows it should be possible to develop a system based on wearable MFC technology to transmit a person’s coordinates in an emergency situation.

“At the same time this would indicate proof of life since the device will only work if the operator’s urine fuels the MFCs.”

MFCs use bacteria to generate electricity from waste fluids - tapping into the biochemical energy used for
microbial growth and converting it directly into electricity.

Scientists say this technology can use any form of organic waste and turn it into useful energy without relying on fossil fuels, making it a “valuable” green technology.

Bristol BioEnergy Centre has recently prototype urinal in partnership with Oxfam that uses pee-power technology to light cubicles in refugee camps.

FamilyReason Why Siblings Shouldn't UnCloth In Front Of One Another. by janzguy(op):
I come from a home where undressing in front my siblings
is normal, but I have been forced to re-examine my values
after reading this rather skin-crawling story.

The man in the article has been a lover to his own blood
sister for 20 whole years, and it all began when he watched
her UnCloth. There really is no excuse for perversion, but it
is instructive that his sexual attraction to his sister was
fueled by her unclothedness. In an interview with Vice, the man.
who used a pseudonym

'Tom', said he began to develop feelings for his sister, Lena
at the onset of puberty.

He said: "I started getting real feelings for her when we both
entered puberty, She was blossoming. Sometimes I would
watch her getting dressed in her room and always felt
ashamed of myself afterwards."

......It gets worse....

"I was relieved to find out she felt the same about me," said
Tom. "We could be happy together. But of course that was a
kind of utopia. In reality, our love was a curse—it still is."

Tom reassured himself that curiosity about the female body
is normal. He wasn't attracted to his sister but to women in
general. But his feelings kept growing stronger. Then, at 17,
Lena got her first real boyfriend.

"That was hell for me," Tom confesses. "I hated each one of
her boyfriend's guts. Lena used to cry because I wouldn't get
on with them. Today, I know that it was pure jealousy."

After a three-year relationship, Lena's boyfriend cheated on
her. In the middle of the night she stumbled into Tom's
bedroom. He was already asleep and was woken by her
sobbing.

To console her, he fetched some wine from the cellar. After
the first glass, came the second, and then the third in quick
succession. Intoxicated in the moment, Lena cuddled up to
his shoulder. Tom says: "She looked up at me and asked
why other men can't be more like me."

That's when it happened; Tom felt sure that he and Lena
were not just siblings. But before he could make a move,
Lena leaned in and kissed him. Tom pushed his sister away.
"What the hell are we doing?" he screamed. Lena started to
cry.

The following days were torture for Tom. Of course they
could have just blamed it on the alcohol, but was it really a
one-off?

His thoughts just wouldn't leave him alone. He begun to
remember specific situations. "It became clear to me that
Lena and I were always flirting," he said. "I always used to
take it as a joke but it couldn't have been. All these strange
situations suddenly became crystal clear."

He now knows that he used to watch Lena getting dressed
because he was keen on her. He wasn't just aroused because she's a woman, but also because he had feelings
for her. Lena and Tom have since spoken about that a lot.

Lena told Tom that she would leave her door open on
purpose so that he could observe her. She was trying to
seduce him—yet that only became clear to her after their kiss. "I was relieved to find out she felt the same about me,"
said Tom.

"We could be happy together. But of course that was a kind
of utopia. In reality, our love was a curse—it still is."

Incest is a taboo as well as a criminal offence in Austria,
where they are citizens, so they moved to Germany to
continue their abominable relationship.

He's been in a committed relationship with his sister for
20years, and the couple have a child together. Tom
says:"There's nothing that I haven't heard before.

People have called me a desecrator, sister-fucker, or simply
retarded. And all that's come out of the mouths of people
who were at one time my friends. Even if society won't
recognise us, we exist and there are more of us than you
think."

People, i think this is a reason why we should discourage
siblings from undressing in front of each other. I wasn't brought up that way, but in this era of sister/brother fuckers, our values have to be re examined and redefined.

CrimeHusband Arrested For Recording His Dying Wife Without Offering Help. by janzguy(op): 7:31am On Dec 11, 2015
29-year-old businessman, Oluchi Ajimowu, has been
arrested by the State Department for Criminal Investigation,
Yaba, Lagos, for his alleged involvement in the death of his
wife, 23 year old Priscillia Ajimowu. The couple lived with their children in Festac, Lagos before the wife's demise.

The police think that Ajimowu either slammed his wife’s
head on the floor, or the mother of two poisoned herself
due to frustrations in her marriage.

Ajimowu claims that he had locked his wife in her room on
November 29, seized her phone and went out with their two
children, after they arrived from their outing, he reportedly
met his wife foaming in the mouth.

His wife who was a nurse had asked to be taken to the
hospital, but he allegedly refused, instead he gave her palm
oil and recorded her with his phone for about 40 minutes
until she died.

It was gathered that prior to her death, Ajimowu had
battered and subjected the deceased to inhuman treatment
throughout the four years they spent in South Africa.

They decided to relocate to Nigeria. Ajimowu arrived four
months ago while the wife arrived on November 27, two
days before her death. It was gathered that Ajimowu had put their house for sale shortly after the wife’s death.

The couple’s oldest child, seven-year-old Ella, said that there
was a pesticide and a drink in the room where her mother
was on the fateful day, adding that her father was “not nice
to my mother” while they were in South Africa. She said:

“Dad used to shout at mummy and beat her and she would
be crying. That day we left her alone in the house. Daddy
took the keys and mummy’s phone and locked
mummy inside.

“When we came back home, daddy parked outside, locked
us inside the car and went inside. After that, he called us to
‘come, come and see your mummy on the floor’.

Mummy was saying, ‘Take me to hospital, I’m tired’. He
started videoing her. He gave her red oil, but she spat it out.
Her body was cold.”

The deceased’s mother, Mrs. Stella Ayobo, said her daughter
had planned to visit her on the fateful day, but had
cancelled the visit. She added that Priscillia had not been
happy throughout her 7 year marriage to Ajimowu .

She added that Oluchi had shortly after his wife’s death
reported at the Aguda Police Division, saying a friend took
poison and died in his house. She said:
“Four years ago, they went to South Africa. She always called
me to report how Oluchi maltreated her.
“She came back to Nigeria on November 27. She visited me
on November 28 and promised to visit me again the
following day, being a Sunday.

But that day, around 8am, she called me that she would not
be able to come again and promised to come with her
children on Friday.

“Around 8pm that Sunday, her husband called me that she
had been vomiting since morning and I told him to take her
to the nearest hospital. He later called me and said it was a
poison she took. I told him to bring her. By the time he
brought her, she was dead. We took her to a hospital and
the doctor said she had died.
“He went to the Aguda Police Station to report that a girl
visited him from South Africa, took poison and died in his
house.”

The mother urged the police to investigate the matter in
order to give justice to the family.

Priscillia’s older sister, Mrs. Emenike Dorcas, said Ajimowu
had convinced her sister to come to Nigeria under the
pretext that he would open a chemist’s shop for her. She
added:
“I reported the incident to the police at Satellite Town and
Aguda divisions. Policemen at Aguda were surprised. when
they eventually knew the truth of the matter,”.

Priscilla’s uncle, Francis Ayobo, said the suspect was not
remorseful after his wife’s death. He said:
“It is so surprising that the wife was dying and the husband
started videoing her. The videos were more than 40
minutes. He sent it to Priscillia’s sister in South Africa. By
that time he would have rushed her to a hospital for
treatment.

“I noticed that about three other guys were in the
background of one of the video because somebody was
giving her water and she was foaming in the mouth. Those
things should be questioned. He was handed over to SDCI
on Wednesday.”

The Lagos State Police spokesperson, DSP Joe Offor, said the
Aguda Police Station arrested the husband and have handed
him over to the Satellite Town Police Division.

CelebritiesStop Stealing Our Songs, D’banj’s Manager Tells Olamide!!! by janzguy(op): 3:46am On Dec 11, 2015
Whenever there is a case of copyright infringement in the
music industry, it is usually between a recording artiste on
one hand and an individual or organisation, on the other.

In most cases, the artiste would be the one accusing the
other party – most likely to be a records pirate – of stealing
his intellectual property.

But a music producer, Divine Austins, aka Deevee, who is
also the official producer of D’banj, changed the norm when
he took to Twitter a few days ago to accuse popular rapper,
Olamide, of stealing ideas for new songs from his boss.

In three tweets, Deevee claimed that Olamide had been
stealing concepts from D’banj’s recording outlet, DB
Records, each time he visited the place in the past.

Addressing Olamide directly, he said, “With due respect,
have you run out of ideas? Every time you come to our
zones, you always got to steal some idea. I won’t let this fly.”

The producer went on to provide a link to ‘Shake it’, a song
by D’banj, which is one of the reasons for the outburst on
the social media network.

The other song believed to have been lifted off an original
idea by D’banj and his team is Olamide’s ‘Don’t Stop’.

Then, as if sensing that his action might annoy his boss, he
apologised to D’banj, tweeting, “I am very sorry boss. I mean no disrespect, but I have stayed silent for too long and I am ready to face the consequences for dropping the link.”

Olamide, who has just been named the Hottest Nigerian
Artiste in 2015 by MTV Base, is yet to respond to the allegations and efforts made by our correspondent to get his reaction through his manager, Alexander, failed to yield
positive results.

Also, two songs recently released by Five Star Music and the
star-studded Mavin Records, titled ‘Ebeano’ and
‘Jantamanta’, respectively, are the subjects of a controversy
currently raging in the music industry.

According to watchers of the industry, both songs are too
similar in terms of the beats to be taken as coincidental. It is
speculated that one of the two music companies must have
copied or ‘stolen’ the original idea for the beat from the other.

But investigation by our correspondent showed that the beat actually originated from the boss of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy, and it leaked to the wrong hands after he sent out snippets of it.

While the accusing finger has not been pointed at anyone, so far, the lack of reactions on both sides seems ominous.

Pundits say the current controversies may be a sign of a rupture that is bound to come as many of the artistes appear to be contented with mutual but subtle copyright infringement.

Even in terms of videos, some Nigerian directors seem to be contented lifting ideas from their foreign counterparts and
from compatriots who have successfully tried out their
initiatives.

PoliticsEmbrace Peace, northern Youths Beg Biafra Agitators. by janzguy(op): 8:26am On Dec 05, 2015
Northern youth under the aegis of the Arewa Triumphant
Youth Foundation, have begged the indigenous People of
Biafra and members of the Movement for the Actualisation
of the Sovereign State of Biafra to lay down their arms and
embrace dialogue for peace to reign in the land. They said they would not be happy to see the South- Eastern part of the country break away from Nigeria.

ATYF’s National President, Ibrahim Yusuf, spoke at a press
conference on Friday to herald activities lined up for a
proposed Arewa Youth Leadership Summit scheduled for
this month in Kaduna.

Yusuf said it was regrettable that major actors in Biafra
violence, Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping and Fulani
herdsmen crisis across the country were youth of present
generation.

According to him, there is no point for our eastern brothers
and sisters to be agitating to pull out of Nigeria. regardless
of ethnic and religious inclination.

“We are brothers. We should be able to live together as one
big family. Nothing should separate us. MASSOB should lay
down their arms, and allow us to stay together for the
betterment of this great country.

“There is no doubt that 99 per cent of these people that are
into these various crises are young persons, and this is
because they are jobless, and to stop them from being
violent, government at all levels must provide jobs and the
enabling environment for the youth.

“President Buhari should fulfill his promise paying N5,000 to unemployed persons in the country, even though I don’t
support the idea of sharing money because it may cause
crisis, and make people lazy.

“I will rather support government giving the people nets to
catch fish than giving them fish to eat, and rebuild the
country of one nation, one vision and one goal.

“Government should realise that as one Nigeria, until it
brings everybody together, the country will continue to have
crisis.”

Crime21-year-old Man Stabs Landlord To Death For Being A Good Samaritan. by janzguy(op): 8:49am On Nov 30, 2015
This is why i always advise people not to intervene when you
see two or three peeps fighting cos you might just end up
being the victim! Some hoodlums started a street fight on
Olorogun Street, Odo Eran, in the Itire area of Lagos State on
Tuesday, during which a 21-year-old stabbed a landlord,
identified as Alawu Lateef, to death.

Lateef, who was a father of three, had intervened in the
fight, and asked the hoodlums to leave the area, when one
of them, identified as Lati Elepo, stabbed the landlord.
Punch Newspaper reports that the father of three slumped,
while residents arrested Elepo before he could escape with
the other hoodlums. The matter was said to have been
reported at the Itire Police Division.

The hoodlums, numbering six boys, had come from
Osindero Street to meet one Balogun, who they claimed
owed them about N30,000. It was learnt that when the
hoodlums did not meet Balogun at home, they started to
make trouble on the street.

The landlord, Lateef, who worked as a panel beater, was.
said to have asked Elepo to leave the area with his gang
members. The hoodlum, however, stabbed him in the chest.
Friends and family members rushed the landlord to a
private hospital in the area, from where he was referred to
the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, where he
was confirmed dead.

His corpse was afterwards brought to the Itire division. One
of his neighbours, who identified himself simply as. Rashidi,
said Lateef did not have any business with the miscreants,
but only tried to pacify them when Elepo stabbed him on the
chest.

Rashidi added that Elepo and two other suspects were
arrested by the police. He said,
“It was at about 11am when these boys from Osindero
stormed our street. They are teenagers. They are not
cultists. They said Balogun owed them N30,000 which they
must collect from him.

“Lateef did not want such commotion on the street. So, he
came out to caution them to take things calmly. The one who
stabbed him was drunk.

“While Lateef spoke with them, the suspect went to a shop of
an artisan who sharpens knives and other metals, grabbed
about three knives and stabbed Lateef on the chest.

Residents arrested him and dragged him to the police
station while other hoodlums ran away.”
Another neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity
said,
“Lateef was a nice man. His wife gave birth to their third
child just two. months ago. If Balogun was around, Lateef would not have intervened in the rampage.”

PoliticsMASSOB Counters Buhari, Sure Of UN Referendum On Biafra by janzguy(op): 6:45pm On Nov 18, 2015
MOVEMENT for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra
(MASSOB), yesterday disagreed with President Muhammadu
Buhari over his statement that Nigeria was indivisible,
describing it as his ‘personal opinion.’

The Movement also boasted that the United Nations (UN)
would conduct a referendum for Biafrans to decide on the
popularity and acceptance of their cause. The group took a
swipe at the military’s decision to quell pro-Biafra protests,
just as the South East governors enjoined the protesters to
tow the line of peace.

But the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82
Division of Nigerian Army, Enugu, Brig-General Ibrahim
Attahiru yesterday re-emphasised the warning against
insecurity which the Division issued on Monday to pro-Biafra protesters. “Agitators should know that there is a certain borderline they should not cross,” he said.

Briefing journalists yesterday in his office on the activities of
pro-Biafran demonstrators across cities in the South East
and South South zones, the GOC stressed that as a reminder, the Nigerian Army would like to send an unequivocal warning to all and sundry, more especially to “all those threatening and agitating for the dismemberment of the country, committing treasonable felony and arson, as well as wanton destruction of lives and property, that once
deployed, the Nigerian Army shall apply the Rules of Engagement (RoE) to the letter in order for peace to prevail.”

However, in a bid to douse the anxiety and end the
demonstrations in the South East, occasioned by MASSOB
and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), the Forum of
South East Governors yesterday called for an expanded
meeting of stakeholders in the zone before reaching a
decision.

The emergency meeting, which is in furtherance of the
forum’s meeting yesterday in Enugu, is scheduled for on
Sunday, November 22, same place. Expected at the meeting
are National Assembly members, ministers and other
invited stakeholders from the zone. At the end of the rescheduled meeting at the Enugu State. Government House, the governors also called on “MASSOB and IPOB to continue to tow the line of peace as this is the only way to ensure economic development of the zone.”

In what is regarded as its first meeting in Enugu in the new
dispensation, the governors expressed concern on the state
of the roads in the zone and security. The meeting, chaired by the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, in its three-point communique read by the governor, resolved to “appoint a high level economic advisory committee to harness the economic potential of the people of the South East working together.

The acting GOC said the recent increase in the pro-Biafra
agitations in some parts of the South East and South South
zones of the country by the Movement for the Actualisation
of the Sovereign State of Biafra, Indigenous People of Biafra
(IPOB) and other similar groups was becoming worrisome.
“In cities like Aba, Port Harcourt, Onitsha, Abakaliki and
Enugu among others, cases of outright lawlessness, threat to lives and properties have been recorded during
demonstrations and protests by these groups,” he said.

In a related development, there are indications that the
battle to secure the release of the leader of IPOB Nnamdi
Kanu has entered a new phase as the group’s directors
world wide have engaged the services of renowned lawyers
to tackle the Federal Government

PoliticsPresident Buhari And The Nigerian Economy by janzguy(op): 6:16pm On Nov 18, 2015
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari would want Nigerians
believe that his attention to the economy is total as he said
the other day that he “cannot be distracted” from his “efforts to salvage and revamp the national economy.” Hence his various trips this year to London, Washington D.C., Paris and New Delhi. Relatedly, the administration has signed an assistance agreement with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) while several foreign delegations have visited in prompt response to what
appears to be the President’s alms bowl economic revival
strategy.

The recent statement by President Muhammadu Buhari’s
media adviser in response to the opposition party’s
expressed displeasure over the handling of the economy
thus far, however, portrays the President as the haughty
know-it-all. It is the very mindset of the political leaderships
before him that over the years “cannot be distracted” and
was not “prepared to listen” to the supposedly not “serious
matters” deemed to emanate from other Nigerians. In the
past 14 years, that self-deluding mindset led successive
federal administrations not to listen to the painless solution
to the national economic pain, which the President’s
approach so far will make worse. Buhari should, therefore,
stop lamenting the past and desist from doing so in foreign
countries. And importantly, the Nigerian people deserve to
know firsthand the President’s economic vision for the
country before it is implemented.

Meanwhile, it is necessary to put the main issue raised in
the statement in proper perspective. The plundering of the
national treasury for personal gain by the entire political
leadership dates back to at least the 1980s. The rape and
mismanagement of the economy were advanced as the
major reasons for the coup on December 31, 1983, which
made Buhari Military Head of State. It is a blessing in
disguise that sharp drop in crude oil prices and oil proceeds
has exposed the stark economic reality. And the gospel
truth: all economic problems besetting the country including
heinous corruption were made possible by the decades-long flawed fiscal and monetary policy framework, the
destructive factor which received no mention in the
exchanged statements between the opposition PDP and the
President.

When the verbiage and tasteless post-election mudslinging
are sheared from the substance of “salvaging and revamping the national economy”, Buhari and his opponents are in agreement as both sides look up to foreign investment to drive national economic recovery. Sadly, they have merely refused to listen to history as well. Nigerians should not allow 45 years of self-inflicted economic under-performance to be repeated. Available data credited to the IMF/World Bank show that over the 43 years up to 2013, the value of foreign direct investment (FDI) net inflow in Nigeria as a proportion of (not contribution to) GDP ranged from minus 1.15 per cent in 1980 to 10.83 per cent in 1994.

Under Buhari in 1984, the indicator was 0.66 per cent
(current US$189.2 million). From 1999 to 2013, despite the
purported seductive packaging and marketing of the
economy by the PDP administrations, the indicator ranged
from 1.07 per cent (current US$5.6 billion) in 2013 to 5.5 per
cent (current US$8.6 billion) in 2009. Compare and contrast
the value of FDI and its other aspects with the yearly
remittances to the country (it has steadily risen to $20 billion annually) by Nigerians in the Diaspora and it is obvious that the importance of FDI has been overrated.

On the other hand, will Buhari’s pledge to remain true to plain-speaking by parading the stunted and kwashiorkor-like distortions of the economy before foreign investors in their home countries bring in the expected huge finances for development? FDI is not charity: foreign investors are hardnosed businessmen that are wont to create banana
republics for wholesale exploitation.

CelebritiesPhotos: Russian Man Marries A Pizza, Say It Would Not Reject Or Betray You. by janzguy(op): 5:40pm On Nov 18, 2015
A 22-year-old Russian man recently got married to a
pizza...yes, you read right. Pizza, that round flat bread
usually topped with tomato sauce and cheese and baked in
an oven. Except that this particular pizza wore a white
wedding veil. The ceremony allegedly took place in the city
of Tomsk, Russia, in a pizzeria with chefs and managers as
witnesses because Russian authorities refused to officially
register the marriage and a church also declined. Awon ti
won ni she se! Lol

The unnamed groom says he decided to marry his favourite
fast food after getting bored of the single life. "Love between
two humans is a complicated wild thing," he said. "Pizza, on
the other hand, would not reject you or betray you, and
speaking quite frankly and sincerely, I love it." The
restaurant even presented the groom and his 'bride' with an
unofficial wedding certificate on a clipboard.

RomanceDepressed People Don't Impress People. by janzguy(op): 3:49pm On Nov 17, 2015
Depression has to do with an inner feeling of despair.
Anyone who has given up on himself, would express nothing but hopelessness. Nobody would want to identify with failure. You can't give what you don't have. The world is
looking for solutions, hope and encouragement. Everybody
wants an asset, nobody wants a liability.

Nobody can declare you inferior or superior. If you are
depressed you will express depression. Everybody needs
hope, inspiration, solution, excitement and joy. Have u ever
wondered why a two years old baby pour water into a plate
of food, then pour the food on the floor instead of eating it
and sometimes the mother would react in anger and spank
the child. While at other times the mother would just look at
the baby, pet him/her and clean up the mess.

The same mother, the same child, the same offence but different reactions. The mother choose her reaction. Most times things do not go the way it went with us not because of the situation, circumstances or people involved but by our moods and reaction. The same issue can give a good and a bad result.

Its all about how your action or reaction. Your action would
determine the consequences or result you will experience.
Not God or devil.
EducationSales Of Hand-out In Higher Institution, A Blessing And A Curse by janzguy(op):
Please Note: This piece of writing only highlights the negative aspects from the author’s point of view.

Hand-outs or lecture notes as the case maybe, has been in existence since time immemorial, from the inception of higher institution in Nigeria. They are meant to as serve as teaching aids to the lecturer and reference materials to the students. They are the essential ingredients needed to season a student’s academic life. No student can successful excel without these hand-outs as they enable him/her have a broader view of what was taught by the lecturer and in. most cases gives the student a-head-start on what would be taught. As the saying goes “Readers are Leaders”, but these days reverse is the case; hand-outs are now a means of massive extortions from lecturers to students with total impunity. Its has become a means by which lecturers become instantaneous millionaires at the expense of students who come from low income earning families. These hand-outs come in outrageous amounts, making it difficult for an average student to afford them. This makes one ponder if education is really for all? Funny enough those who can afford these hand-outs rarely read nor go through them whereas those who are eager to have them can not afford them.

Not withstanding the horrific sanctions placed on defaulters by the lecturer; some go as far as banning the defaulting student from attending their lectures or even deducting significant marks from their examination score. Instance of have been cited in universities were lecturers refuse students from writing their test and repeatedly deducted marks from students for not buying their hand-out, these lecturers go as far as making students spill one year for refusing to buy there hand-out. The most ridiculous factor about this handouts is they most time are poorly, hurriedly written, unorganised, do not relate to the course been taught and have little or no significant instantaneous knowledge to add to the reader.

In some Nigerian institution hand-outs are vehemently imposed on students. Educational materials are only necessary to obtain but should not be made compulsory. No doubt some institution have succeeded in totally curbing this menace, while others have countless warned lecturers to desist from making their lecture note compulsory but yet some ill minded lecturers still perpetrate this crimes secretly. Now the question is; education is expensive, yes we all know that but should the masses be deprived quality education as a result of greedhuh What is the essence of the library if students are compelled to buy this bookshuh
