It's a big pipeline contract actually, 7years life project, I was in the corossion control department as a contract staff. I am learned but my crew members were not. A job of 12000 we were giving 350 naira for. Local man had no job back then, I had to do it for sometime and just walked away. The whites couldn't stand to see workers treated in that manner hence their departure.

A Businessman's first loyalty is to profit. Nationalism only comes after profit. Economics and current realities do not currently favour local production of clothing materials here.
Mind you, such plants are not meant to be switching from NEPA to GEN every two to three hours as the materials will only go bad mid-production if this happens.

It is part of why National Gas Master-plan was drafted during the Yar Adua Jonathan Era. it was meant to ensure smooth gas supply to all the geopolitical zones and redistributed to various industrial estates/layouts. if this had been effected/pursued to conclusion, this pour wahala of paying huge amounts of dollars in court cases may not have been an issue. Power will have been stable to some extent. if you doubt my premise. Go to Lagos, Sagamu, Ikorodu and Sango Ota, these regions have extensive gas linkages from the Nigerian Gas Company's western node in Ikorodu. Oando Gas and Power Supplies Lagos ( ikorodu, Oshodi, ilupeju etc.) Shell feeds Sango Ota, Agbara and environs... I'm not sure which of them has the concession for Sagamu. But these areas enjoy better power supply than others. I am not familiar with Owerri, Onitsha, Aba and the rest but I am sure the eastern NGC gas node is also being exploited to the maximum starved.

Now that the pioneers of this vision are out of government... I am not aware if the master-plan is still being pursued. I have not heard any mention of it in the news lately so that kinda figures.

If we will ever get it right, it can only be by tackling our challenges systemically. Not this ban aids we're employing here and there. But why are we surprised. Our populace wants results now now..else the parties will have nothing to campaign with in their next polling season.

Moreover, its the era of populism globally. We see it with Trump, Boris Johnson..... This South African President and of course down here.
