Desola: You are a Hausa man with Yoruba origin.omo Yoruba ni mi joor. Emi Iyeru okin omo olofa mojo, omo abisujooko, omo laare buure ![]() |
hercules07: Offa people see themselves more as Yorubas than Northerners, you might have not lost anything by not being a South Westerner, but, if this nation should collapse and everybody goes his way, my brother, it will be better you go with those who speak your language o.I agree, if not for any reason, for the simple fact that we will belong to minority ethnicity in the Republic of Northern Nigeria. |
More seriously, I think from the general feelings, majority of my Kwara South (Yoruba) people don't hold my view. They almost all gladly prefer being in the West. So, if referendum was done, you can be sure Kwara South people will want to be part of SW, where our Yoruba kinsmen are. But me, I'm indifferent. This view remains unchanged. As for Kwara North (Nupe etc), they have more affinity with the North, and would fit more into the North. For Kwara Central (Ilorin), that is where teh major confusion is. I don't like to delve much into Ilorin history although some contributors here have touched on it, but from my readings, what is convincing to me is that, Ilorin was a Yoruba city overrun by Fulani, so now ruled by Fulani. From my interactions with Ilorin folk, some claim to be Yoruba, some Fulani. My wife is from Ilorin and claims Fulani; I have met many Ilorin people (especially females) that go furious when called Yoruba. I have equally met many people from same Ilorin that claim Yoruba and will smack you if you address them as Fulani. Oyb of NL here is one of them. So their identity is just confusing. But their elite (Idi-Agbon, Saraki etc identify with Fulani) |
Now, have I benefitted anything from being a 'northerner'? No. Have I lost anything from not being a South-Westerner. I don't think so. So I'm not so keen at all these artificial classifications. |
juman: Excuse me!!!!!!Northerner is not necessarily Hausa/Fulani, I'm sure you know. |
I'm Yoruba and very proud of it and that can never change. For now, I'm also a northerner, where Kwara is classified, officially Desola, oya go hit your head against olumo rock ![]() Now, in case of separation, where do I wish to be? Let me consult ![]() *****Desola, better come and bribe me ********** |
Good job, Enyeama. I have always believed he has teh quality to play at top level. |
ALTRUTH: There is really no need for all these back-and-forth, if Kwarans want to bcome jihadists, dat is their cup of tea. If dey choose to b wit d core SW den Yorubas shld raise an army, invade Ilorin, overrun and capture d city, drive away d fulanis, secure d city nd free their brothers frm d shackles of slavery.. So easy? The same way Afonja overran Alimi abi? |
Saw this this thread yesterday but was too busy to comment. |
37 goals as our record highest scoring pllayer forr Super Eagles is not a good record. Eto'o has haalf of that at Nations Cup alone and 50+ goalls for the national team, Drogba has 60+ gOals fOr CIV. Even Asamoah Gyan has More than 37 gOals forr Ghana. |
So are we looking at like 200'k or what because the starter pay in Total is approximately 400.
yeah, not less than 200k. |
How much is the average starter salary package in this Oando sef?! Because all these "Local" companies can sabi pay person peanuts as salary.
I started my career there. Don't expect a Shell, Chevron, Addax pay (and that's understandable, because they are not competitors) but a decent company I can say. |
I also used to think playing football and fasting cannot go together. I play football every Saturday, Sunday, public holidays and other days I'm not going to office (including this morning) and I do so even while fasting. I even played match while fasting this last Ramadan (some Nairalanders that attended the last Ramadan iftaar in my house witnessed this last August ).I know I'm just an amateur, but it should be even easier for professionals whose system would have adjusted to the demand. I remember fasting Egyptian national team beating non-fasting Nigerian team in a match years back. I also remember Ahmed Musa's fantastic performance in WYC Canada 2011 while fasting. |
hugafella: What about the unawarded penalty on Musa? Or even the goal awarded to them? Did they score any clear goal? Someone tell these people to wake up. Nigeria did not go to Ethiopia for jokes.clear or not, both balls crossed the line. k |
Both goals actuallly crossed the line. But it's one of those things. We also suffereed from similatr error against Cameroun in E 2000 ANC final. Also, ignorant Nigerians that say CAF does not like us, Hayatou denied us this, that, shoud take note, when next time such human error is against Nigeria. |
iamswizz: And how come Nigeria is not amongst the bottom ten. Because you can enter at least 16 -1 (West African) countries without visa. Just passport |
Going next year insha Allaah. |
Soso990240: in ur own opinion, why did fernarberche buy? Was he nt a goal king in same turkey last season? How many games did he start or finish for fernarberche dis season? And u are already judging him.No, guy. He wasn't in Turkey last season, he was in Russia. He didn't score much in Russia because injury kept him from playing for the best part of the season |
That was a fantastic performance from the Ethiopians. I salute them. They were just unlucky, they deserved a least a draw from that match. They had superior play, but inexperience on the part of a defender that committed unprofessional foul, and 2 moments of brilliance from Emenike, cost them the game. I think Saladin Said and all their midfield and forward players deserve a 7. Also, the altitude obviously told on our players. I saw a jet-heeled Musa strggling to run, an Oboabona panting as early as early 2nd half, a Moses so tired. Not a good game from Nigerians (except Emenike), but I can pardon them. |
Jarus is in. |
Theben: The guy is seriously looking for job from the Nigerian football associatiomThis is a honest analysis from a Nigerian. To me, he is the best Nigerian football analyst at the moment. See his analysis on Supersports. |
You obviously don't know your football history. The areas around plateau state , has produced a large crop of Nigerian stars aswell. I'll list some players you failed to list Daniel Amokachi Augustine Eguavoen Sunday Oliseh Celestine Babayaro Finidi George Muda Lawal Vic Ikpeba Emmanuel Amunike Segun Odegbami Nigerian football should not be reduced to tribaliatic chest beating. Igbo people have not given to Nigeria any more than would be required of them as Nigerians or anymore than any other tribe in Nigeria. They have excelled equally as Yoruba, Hausa, Edo, Fulani, Erik, Idoma or any other tribe you would like to mention.
Are you saying these guys are from 'areas around the plateau'? |
The ignorance being displayed here in the name of tribal loyalty is very petty, nauseating. How will a coach, who knows his job is at stake if he doesn't do well, select players based on ethnic grouping. Check USA 94 and Atlanta 96 squads and check the percentage of Igbos (and easterners generally) and come back to tell Westerhof and Bonfrere Joe are Igbos. Truth is, our most of finest footballers have always been Igbo, from time immmemorial. Kanu and Okocha are regarded as Nigeria's most accomplished players ever, they are Igbo. If you list Nigeria's top 10 players, only Rashidi Yekinni and Segun Odegbami are the likely to be non-Igbo (if you loosely define igbo to include all easterners generally) |
I don't even understand all these terms. Sound Greek to me. I'm a blogger, but I outource the backend part. I only write and update. |
Changed job May last year. Looking back, a great decision. Know much more about my industry, interface directly more with other nationals, and most importantly, now earning almost 3 times what I earned last in my former employment, and almost double what I negotiated when I joined last year. Interestingly, went for another interview today (head-hunted by another coy) and they practically ended the interview when I tabled my 'buy-out' amount. |
Now to the topic, I agree with that Haruna deserves a call, but like Mikeansy stated he is not so much to be missed. Mikel and Onazi are doing well, and Ogu is also not doing badly. His style is similar to Onazi. So at best, we can have him as backup for Onazi. But will he stay onbench given his attitude issue? We can't afford fighting in the team todaay. Morre than Haruna, to me, Uche brothers are needed more in this team. They have attitude, skills and flair. |
striker9: Haruna ko,Musiliu ni.I prefer Rabiu Ibrahim to him,but he has not been playing first team football regularly. Its up to Keshi,we ve got a great team though. Some people sef. I wonder how nigerians judge players by matches played 5 years ago, without recourse to what has happened since then. On what ground will anyone rate Rabiu , that has moved from 5 clubs in the last 5 years without securing shirt in any, ahead of Haruna, that got first team shirts in Monaco and Dynamo Kiev, top clubs in the intervening period? |
mikeansy: God knows that we have a wonderful Goal KeeperGreat analysis you've been doing here my friend (Soludo brother lol). All your comments on this thread are spot on. |
Zikdik: Haruna LukmanYou obviously don't follow Nigerian football players. Haruna still doing fine, Joel Obi, injury has not helped, others fizzled out because they shone in age grade tournaments against European children. |
Emmysteve: I dont think Keshi is serious in handling super eagles team. There are alot of our top players wasting away, the likes of Christian Obodo, Chidi Odia, solomon Okoronko and Pius Ikedia all deserve to be calld up.Sarcasm, obviously. |
Mine was fantastic in Sokoto. |
onyxo76: i simply can't believe this, we were together in microbiology in oau before i changed department to medicine... i never knew he still went on to read medicine after his first degree.... this is so sad....!!Which years was he in Ife? I may know him too. |
