ehixking: There is a saying that goes thus "uneasy lies the head that wears the crown". Over a couple of weeks now since NAUG made public its executive members, work has been going on by these officials to make sure the associations sticks to its guns on the struggle against unemployment in Nigeria. The executives has been serving as a strategist team, and yet they still have a lot to do which can't be done alone, including getting trustees from the 6 geopolitical zones, we have decide to have two each from a zone and also to balance it gender ratio between the male and the female folks. NAUG hereby use this means as a source of invitation to noble men and women of timbre and calibre who would wholeheartedly from the bottom of their hearts would to be our trustees to please contact us.All the best bros. But you can do better in the bolded parts. |
This morning. About 4-5 notes of N5 had been in my wallet for weeks, spent them this morning by adding to N50 to make N70 as okada fare in my estate. |

safarigirl: ARGE wetin? The ones who could only get one kwekwe-looking goal past us when we still had a dysfunctional team on top their Messi? You for even talk Colombia make I fear, those niqqas are madt. We've always had a decent performance against Argentina. With Maradona, they managed to beat us 2-1 in 1994, with Crespo, Batistuta and co, they dominated us from beginning to end in 2002 but only won by 1-0, in 2010, with Messi, they always won by 1-0. We've also beaten them with 3-1 in 2011 even if it's friendly before they organized another friendly with Messi to revenge 3-1. At age grade, their 2 goals to win 2-1 in Undey-20 with Messi in 2005 were from spotkicks, while our goal came from open play. In 2008 olympics final, they struggled to beat us 1-0, courtesy Di Maria. In Olympics 96 we beat them. |
Unfortunately for them, the best result they can get is semi final - and only 1 will reach there. Just another Ghana or Croatia. The usual suspects will win: Spain, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, France, Holland |
MzShawtiez: I get ur point actually, dat d over dependence on oil as our major source of revenue is one of d causes of our economic problems thus callin 4 d need 2 diversify. But unless ur point was 4 d non petroleum engineers asking 4 advice on dis thread (I am nt against anybody's desire), the OP's intentions shudnt b criticised/discouraged. Its lyk telling a medical grad 2 consider oda professions (apparently I jst noticed jarus is d OP, lol). Jst incase my last post was harsh, I apologise 4 dat. By d way, I guess u think/feel money is d reason behind d OP's interest, but my dear, money is d only reason ppl workInteresting. So what happened to Jarus as op? |
eemjay17: Kudos to Jarus for this piece, I must confess, this is a real eye opener for some of us that doesn't have the experience of what interviews always look like. Fortunately for me, i came across this writeup last saturday when indeed have got an interview on monday(my first interview ever for that matter). Need i say this writeup really help me in the interview because these are the same questions am being asked,i was just there smilling and giving the response base on what i read here. However, during the cause of the interview the three interviewer were just nodding their head in acceptance to my answers to the extent that the lady among them couldn't hide it. So she was forced to say to her colleague that she like the way i give my response.Thanks. Hoping to hear that you got the job very soon. |

I don't think they need to be part of first team of a big club before they show they are good. Kolo Toure is a big-name defender, he couldn't prevent Nigeria from scoring against CIV. They have to use a platform to make name for themselves. Super Eagles may just be the platform. Yobo's performance against George Weah at 2002 World cup qualifiers earned him spotlight. He was a rookie before then. My concern is not about their playing time or bigness of their club, but the fact that we have conceded in too many matches in recent time - Burkina Faso scored us, Spain put 3 past our defenders, Uruguay 2, Kenya 1, even Malawi scored us. And OMG, even Tahiti! We have been winning (and drawing) but we have not being maintaining clean sheet. That is my own concern. I think our back 4 - Echiejile, Oboabona, Omeruo and Ambrose - are doing fine, but I agree with you we need strong bench, another back 4. For now we don't have a second back 4. Egwueke guy is not good enough. No good back up for Echijile and Ambrose, so bad that we had to use Onazi (a midfielder) as left back when Ambrose was suspended in an AFCON match. I think we need competition in the defence, like we have in attack. As for Yobo, he didn't do well in his last few matches for SE, but I think he didn't deserve total shut-out. He has done enough for eagles (highest capped player in our NT history, scored crucial goals for us in many qualifiers etc) and should be graciously sent forth. A good send-forth will be taking him to world cup, use him in one or two matches and leave him to decalre his formal retirement after the world cup. |
looks like two-fighting among primary school kids |
Afam4eva: Pls, let's not underestimate the Ethiopians. They got to this round for a reason. It's easier to play a team you know no matter how good than a team you have no clue about.Over two legs? Nah. If they get good result in one leg (remember Kenya in Calabar?), they can't escape overturn in second leg, home or away ( remember kenya again, despite almost beating Naija at home, got a pounding in Nairobi). At worst they eked out a draw in one leg. I don't believe there are no minnows in football...Ethiopia will always remain a minnow against Nigeria. This is not a one-leg game where quick luck can help them. |

While I always feel sad to see someone thrown into the labour market, I think Nairaland is gradually taking its place as the megaphone of the oppressed, voice of the voiceless, a public court. The other time, it was Honeywell or Cadbury (can't remember again) that responded to an allegation by a Nairalander on nairaland. Meanwhile, admin & supermods, I still await this my sister's complaint to hit the front page so that DealDey can take action too o (https://www.nairaland.com/1428561/sisters-nasty-experience-dealday) ![]() |
This is serious bad press for Oando, especially for an organization going global, trying to break into American markets. Interestingly, one investment banker from US contacted me just last week asking questions about Oando/Wale Tinubu. While researching , he came across a positive article I did on Tinubu/Oando last year, sought me out, and was asking questions about Oando. I told him to the best of my knowledge, Oando conducts her business with integrity. I just pray Oando comes out clean from this, because it is a company that occupies special place in my heart. |
Igbonla made a very important point there. Contract is another good window to 'break' into the industry. Class of degree is not that emphasized in contract positions. And we are talking about 250k - 400k (or more, which is what a manager earns in another industry) here as monthly net for even contract staff. Also, with experience as a contract staff in the big IOCs, it becomes quite easy to penetrate the upcoming independents who prefer poaching contract staff of teh established IOCs, pay them more and get them do teh job. I know many Shell contract staff my organization poached. |
Thanks, x-fire and Igbonla, for your input. Of course, I know you don't need a First to get into the industry, but there is no gainsaying that having one gets you invite almost automatically (except you don't meet other criteria), then it's left for you to prove yourself because you will be subject to same tests and interviews with others. Also, there are many 2.2s in the industry, but it's tough especially at entry level, and it takes some circumstances (luck and God's grace essentially) to get opportunity to prove yourself (=invitation for test/interview) in the first place. Deewater, good one too. I also did this article to douse the craze about oil and gas: http://www.jarushub.com/jarus-on-sunday-the-oil-gas-industry-craze/ |
calculusx: In every situation, lets always give thanks. It could have been worse than this. Avoid taking Alcohol while driving.wow, so it's even a known Nairalander that owns the car lot - calculux, na you? |
A car accident involving a Toyota 4runner had a deflated tyre, then, due to the speed and the bent road, somersualted like three times into some parked tokunbo cars in a car lot, this happened this afternoon as the three occupants of the car cars out with bruises and body scrathes. Thanks God they made it out alive but....they wld av wished they hadn't because, the occupants and the driver, who are not original owners of the car, had 'within a few seconds' been indebted to an estimated value of N6m on the spot'. These includes the cost of the infinity Jeep, a camry and the 4runner itself. I smypatize with them, most especially the owner of the car lot, whom incessant calls made were made to his phone. I call this 'GOBE'
Even if it is 100m, it doesn't equate losing their life at all. In any case, they may have a good case in court not to repay the cars owners, if it is proved that the driver was not drunk and took good precaution. 'Act of God' argument in court may help them. |
