They are hardly competitors to AIT and ChannelsTV. They are a Business Channel. It doesn't stop Channels and AIT from being leadrs in general reportage.

The story was funny...looks like Africa Magic story as I envision the scene while reading thye news.

Interestingly, we share same story. When I resigned from my last company early last year (after 4 years of service), I bought an SUV from the company and asked the coy to use my gratuity payment of almost 1.5m to offset it. My brother scolded me for that decision. Reading this story reminds me.

My house project was completed 2010.

I also saw suddenly saw a lizard on my windscreen while driving two days ago. I staggered to park. Somebody helped me drive it home. I have not touched teh car till now.

Narrated the story to my facebook followers yesterday:

STRANGE LIZARD IN FRONT OF MY WINDSCREEN: I actually thought I was strong , but my experience yesternight scared the hell out of me. Didn't drive to work , but got home early enough to still use the car to check a friend that lives kilometers away. I was on highway (Lekki-Epe expressway, before Sangotedo), when I suddenly saw a lizard in front of my windscreen, in-between stationary wipers. The lizard was just, just panting, but not moving. It Was around 8pm. The scene scared me. iI must confess I was scared, especially given the suddenness with which it appeared, and I had driven 3 kilometres without seeing anything earlier. I staggered to park, ck, picked my phone and came out of the car. Then told people I saw by roadside why I stopped so abruptly. I couldn't go near the car, but a security man around used his torch to view windscreen, but didn't see anything. He said mine was the 3rd case he heard, and indeed, a neighbour, pointing to his house, also experienced same - lizard suddenly appearing on his dashboard - recenty, and he was part of the team that sent the lizard away. I also remember reading story of Femi Kuti recently, claiming he also saw a lizard in front of his car on Third Mainland Bridge, and created a Scene(I saw the pics on the internet recently). Now, I have not said this is necessarily mysterious and not possibly a case of stray lizard finding its way on a car when parked, but questions I want answered are: 1, my wife drove the car all day yesterday, and only parked it less than 1 hours bfore I took charge, it is hard to believe lizard found its way into the car bonnet(which was hot) within that 1 hour. 2, the suddenness was strange to me. 3, I have read about Femi Kuti's case and one of the bystanders claimed mine was the 3rd case of lizard-suddenly-appearing - on-car dashboard/windscreen he was seeing. Could all be cases of stray lizards? Why lizards always? Well, after the stir died down, I was afraid of driving the car, and was driven home by one of the guys around the scene yesternight, initially refusing to enter the car, but after finding taxi to no avail, joined the guy, sitting at the back and reciting plenty kursiyyu and qul ahuth all through the ride home. I haven't come near the car till now.

I'm not surprised. We told them on NL here on that thread that the story just didn't add up (although admittedly, even many Christians also smelt rat). It was all over teh place. There was even a CD on it.

Aarenaija: Please allway do a BoQ.
If the Architect is introducing anything in the course of the project for any reason, it most be with the consent of you the client. Except it will not add any extra to the initial cost.
Generally, if an Architect is supervising your project, you should expect that some changes may occur because he will always be thinking ahead of the owner in terms of what the project will look like at completion.
Thanks. I'm actually not that formal. I just had my eyes on a house, sending money.
It wasn't easy as he kept bringing in new thing, with extra cost, and stretching my finances. But in the end I'm happy for the job.

uhuns: I join all to say a big kudos to you.
pls given that we may not have followed from the very start.
could you summarize as follows!
the total cost as at today.
minus the fence! store! BQ.Borehole.
the floor area of the House.
this is to get a per square construction cost.
this can be varied from place to place with minimum changes .e.g

ie it cost 120k per m2 for midium sized 3b/ r flat
I can't isolate those, but I know I have spent 10m plus, (cost of land inclusive).

The BQ isn't completed. I only rushed teh main building to be able to do sallah there.

But let me try:

Land - 200k for 2.5 plots bought in 2009(now going for 350k per plot today )
Foundation - 1m (the architect said it's German floor, and very high)
BQ (2 twin self-contains, with big sitting room) - now up to lintel level, but uncompleted - 2m
Main building (blocks, plastering, labour etc) - 2m
Roofing of main building - 1m (350k for woodwork, 620k for aluminium)
Fencing (plus shop and gatehouse) - not yet plastered - 700k
Sanitary materials (WC, cubicle, kitchen, toilet stuff etc) - bought in Lagos 250k, transported via train to Kwara 15k
Plumbering - 100k
Tiles - 500k
POP - 250k
Electrical works and materials, wiring materials plus work etc - about 450k
Gate - 100k
Painting - 200k
Plus other costs I can't remember (I didn't keep records).

I didn't keep records, but I know I have sent more than 10m to the supervisor since inception.

iamdhebuck: Very impressed! now this is what I call a MAN..someone who get things done, not some nicompop @ 30 sitting in their moms shop only to 2go from morning to night chasing 14 year old gals or logging in to nairaland and rooting for their favorite thief in government.
Interestingly, I'm also a die-hard social media buff, at least super-active on NL. I can count the number of days I did not log on to NL in the last 5 years. So it's not necessarily by that.

osifred: And sumbody is advising me to save 5million for masters abroad. Money I wil use to build 3 bedroom flat in my hometown Omoku.
It's a trade-off. I started the building just after one year work, earning circa 200k per month then. annum then.

I just started my foreign Masters late last year, when the project was almost completed.

I actually celebrated my sallah there. Work is still ongoing. It has cost 10m up to date, and it may reach 15m at full completion (twin BQ at the back is not even roofed yet).

As an Eko chick, I will go with Egun before going with Aboki kwarans. Although I do not share a language with Eguns, I am accustomed to their way of life. Kwarans should better go with those they share customs and practises not forgetting religion.
