Spain were obviously the better side at the final match.
But were they the best team of the tournament? The Germans played better football, more convincing and I'm sure this thread(debate) would not have come up in the first place if they won. Everybody will admit, almost unanimously, they deserve it.
But that's football, Spain's brillance at the time they needed it most(against Germany) won this WC for them.

Nigerians and their "£$%^ for their fellow countryman reach new level. If its David Becham moving from milan to Russian league i cant wait to read the praises and adoration.

Obafemi Martins, i wish u all the luck, i believe u will succeed. if only ya'll making the money he is making
If Beckham moved to Russia at 25, there will surely be more fuss. If Kanu moves to Russia now for example, it is a good move. What we are saying is that Martins' career is too young to go into obscurity which this move will bring about. UCL aside, which I'm sure they wont go beyond 2nd round at most, how many people watch Russian league? How many top media cover Russian league? Do you see CNN show reviews of Russian league as they do of EPL, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and La Liga. What we are saying is that his career is drifting into oblivion.

No Martins is truly young. Surely not 25, but real age for real age, Kanu should be at least 10 yrs older. Martins' real age may not be more than 28-30.

Multi-wetin? Abeg, talk something else.
Do u know the number people who are employed yearly by these multinationals through signed complimentary cards of some big shots irrespective of the course they have studied? Just go to university and obtain a degree, that's all; whether Yoruba or Hausa
I absolutely disagree with this. Most MNCs in Nigeria are merit-driven. At least I can talk for Shell, Chevron and Mobil. Of course, connection may get one or two people in, but 97% are merit-based. Secondly, especially for Shell, their recruitment standard is global, whether in Nigeria or Malaysia or Europe.

I have undergone Shell recruitment process in the past and got to final stage, SRD, but couldn't show up at Warri, for the exercise, due to an error of judgment and fluffed the opportunity.

I have at least two friends that got jobs in Shell without knowing anybody; from a poor background but very brilliant. Their recruitment process is merit-driven, but very competitive, forget about complementary cards.

Politics › Re: Stop Condemning Ibb by Jarus(m): 4:32pm On Jul 09, 2010
trutuk:
Fellow Nigerians let us stop condemning IBB but let us make him see reasons why he will never be the president of our dear country come 2011 and thereafter.

Being a Muslim am sure IBB knows we came into this world with nothing and will definitely leave with nothing not even a 25 million dollar casket, all that will be with us will be our deeds either good or bad only Allah will be there to judge us all.
You have served this country meritoriously( in your own context),but some truths need to be told, you have been accused of various atrocities while in government between 1985 and 1993 when you unwillingly stepped aside But till this hour you have failed to either take responsibility or deny this allegations.

You claim you want to rewrite history and lead Nigeria to the Promised Land because the present day politicians cannot do it and the only way you can do this is by becoming the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, with this, you are not man enough to be saddled with the great responsibility of leading our dear nation as you are only interested in the goodies associated with the office of the president- then one wonders what else is remained to be looted by IBB abi global economic crisis hit you ni?

There are many great world leaders who never held any elective post in their various countries and they are contributing in no small measures towards the upliftment of mankind not only in their countries but the world in general. People like Bill Gates, Mukesh in India and our own Dangote (at least a lot of Nigerians put bread on their tables from Dangote groups)

With all you have either legitimately or otherwise acquired in terms of experience and wealth, you will do well for Nigeria and yourself by coming up with something –A company in your name(MAY BE IT WILL TURN OUT TO BE A BAD MARKET) you know will help alleviate the poverty you induced into the society from your SAP while in office AND please forget about being the president of this nation so you do not have to go through the pain and agony of accounting for the deeds and welfare of 150 million people twice when we are all made to account for our deeds in the presence of Allah.

May God forgive us all but IBB at 70 there are many ways you can assist in the cause of getting Nigeria to greater heights without being the president of this country. Obama is juts is his mid 40’s would you want to go and address him as SIR when you guys meet on international summit, KAI

May be you can start a company in your name , Manage the company as the CEO for four years after which Nigerians will appraise you then we may consider you for 2015. This is because since you left office in 1993, you have not done any meaningful thing for us to know you are capable of handling the affairs of our beloved country. I no fit shout o
Stop playing religious card, dude. I am also a Muslim but IBB is far from being a role model for Muslims. Perhaps you should go and tell him that he should explain how he acquired his wealth first.

Mod, pls move to to politics, by the way.

Pro Anti:
@ Jarus,

Forget all this political permutations. There is no way Ribadu will win an election in Nigeria.

Do you think Atiku and other northern political criminals will fold their arms and allow Obasanjo's lap dog rule over them?
Do you think the North-West (Yar' Adua's kinsmen) will vote the man who wants the world to believe their son ( UMYA) was after him?
You have some points here, but with the tide now, and the widespread conception the whole north, NW in particular, have that GEJ has usurped their chance, they will see in Ribadu a lesser evil, and will still vote for him ahead of GEJ.

Do you think the south-easterners are comfortable with being on-lookers in Nigeria's political game? I can assure you they will vote Jonathan/PDP and/or APGA 95%. AC is a regional party- Tinubu's property.
With SW's overwhelming support for Falae in 1999, PDP's Obasanjo still wins. Same here, with SE's 95% vote for GEJ, they may still not be able to turn the tide against R-F, who will easily win SW, and get considerable, if not overwhelming vote, in the North.
PDP remains the biggest and most focused party in Nigeria, rigging or no rigging.
Biggest? yes. Most focused? spare me that.

Jarus, can you locate any connection between the quoted and bolded above.

I think with the mood now favours a free and fair election and that is the reason AC can be boldly selling the candidature of Ribadu this early.

I think an R-F ticket will sell very well IF GEJ fails to get the PDP ticket and that is why am reasoning that some poeple within PDP are the ones flying this R-F kite.
Yeah,I agree with you. There may be some anti-GEJ PDP hands behind this.

ilugunboy:

Yes o. That's another angle we are ignoring o. But I don't see it playing much role, as it didn't during Abiola-Kingibe ticket.

Seun:
1) Every forum on the Internet allows you to register multiple usernames, if you have multiple email addresses. So if despite that they still can't have 500,000 user accounts, it shows nairaland is still much bigger than them.

2) Addicts like MrBrownjay with multiple accounts are in the minority. I'd be surprised if we don't have 500,000 or more actual unique users, which frankly is still a lot.

3) According to Alexa, Nairaland has been the Number one local site in Nigeria for quite a while. Many regular users of nairaland are not even registered; so you have to consider that too.
I am particularly impressed at the way many writers I respect, like Professor Pius Adesanmi, Daniel Elombah and a few others I read, quote NL in their write-ups I read elsewhere.
