Conservatively radical. |
Naija to beat Ghana. No long story. Bennyboy11:I disagree. Somebody answers you here: - I didn't know a total of 6 players aged less than 21 could actually embody a whole 23-man squad (how about the "older" men, huh?) |
Insultive posts capable of causing fighting is against forum rules. I wil say due to what your muslim brother has caused to Nigeria you all should be ashamed of yourselves and none of you deserve to be heard again on this forum in fact as a matter of fact i will spit on any of you should in case weTherefore, I lock the thread. |
I have never been so confident of Eagles in recent time as I am of them beating the Chipolopolo later today. I don't know why I'm this convinced but there is a Yoruba proverb that says 'ko kin tan l'ara omo oba ko maku dansaki'(literally, no matter how lowly a prince becomes, there will still be some honour). Eagles have never lost to a Grade B team in Nations cup in recent memory, despite their usual fumbling and wobbling. We have only lost to Cameroun(2000), Senegal(2002), Morocco, Tunisia(2004), CIV92006), CIV, Ghana(2008) and Egypt(2010), who are all Grade A teams in Africa. A Benin, Mozambique, Zambia, Gabon, Guinea, no matter how in-form will only scare us, not to the extent of eliminating us. Says another Yoruba proverb, ''t'omode basoogun, egbe e l'onfinbaja' (literally, if a child does a charm, he uses it on his mate). I don't think about this match, I think about our match against Ghana, especially how embarrassing it will be if a second string Ghanaian team, without key players, beat us. While that cannot be rule out, I honestly think Eagles are in final already. |
Being an unusual lover of African football, I always try not to miss Soccer Africa and other Supersports soccer programmes. With Ivorien Mamadu Ganye, South African Thomas Mlambo and our own Peterside Idah in the house, I find all the bashing and rivalry amusing and always wish the programme continues. Ganye, like Mlambo, is definitely not a fan of Nigerian football, but I don't think there is more to it than just fun. They are all just catching fun and creating interesting scenes in the studio, they all respect nigeria, don't mind their bashing. But the truth is, with how Eagles perform in almost 100% of their matches, do you think we are not worth being the laughing stock of African football? |
Ify, imams are paid wages and in fact in the western and .some arab countries imams are paid well with a good package. Some mosques pay imams in the Uk about 400GBP a week and some big mosques provide accomodation for the imams as well. However in african countries like Nigeria it is not all imams that are paid and the economic situation and poverty rate has to be put into consideration. In arab countries the govt pays the registered imams but it is not so in Nigeria in the least. Again someone in Nigeria could please shed more light on Imams in Nigeria. Jarus ,Iwaboy over to you. There are generally two categories of mosques in most Nigerian communities; those built by community or people living in an area and those built by some men/families in their houses. Personally, we have a Mosque in our Kwara country home and our Imam get paid salaries. In most 'private' mosques, I guess the Imams are paid. For community-built Mosques, unfortunately I don't know whether Imams are paid. The faintest idea is that part of proceeds of donations in Mosque programs are allocated to Imams running that mosque but I'm not sure whether there is a structured salary system. Allah knows best |
I have actually gone beyond ethno-religious debates on Nairaland politics section and I prefer to take a siddon look these days and do more of reading than engaging in long, often overflogged debates, while just coming out, once in a while of course, to condemn the condemnable, commend the commendable or proffer way forward where I haver idea, but I came across this post by a fellow, Richyblack, on page 4 of this thread, and I dug into my archives of articles to supply him something from Sanusi There are Imams in Mosques that preach the hatred that encourages this zombie mentality, however, the Northern elite do not seem to be doing anything to deal with these hate-mongering clerics.Richie, Sanusi had this to say, amongst other lacerative condemnations, in an article he wrote in March 2004 titled MUSLIM LEADERS AND THE MYTH OF MARGINALIZATION The problem of religious conflict and parochialism bedevils the north. Of course it is not the only problem, which is why a unified northern forum must address the common problems faced by all northern people. The north suffers from the neglect of agricultural production, the lack of proper access of cash-crop farmers to the international market, the collapse of industry, the debilitation of its infra-structure, lack of alternative source of power to hydro-electricity, among others. Most of all the north suffers from the general massification of its population that is to say, its collective subjection to the intense and deliberate processes of qualitative leveling for the purpose of quantitative maximization. As a result of this, politicians and religious demagogues and fanatics have a ready army of uneducated, unemployed northerners willing to participate in bloody riots and attend rallies where emotional inanities pass for patriotic leadership. So now, have you 'read/seen a northern elite speak the clerics'? Need full article? Send a mail to jarusnairaland@yahoo.com |
@Jarus : What is the point of this forum if people are not free to express their mind or say the truth ? Why the terrorism on Nairaland ? haaaaaaaa ![]() What is the point of this forum if people cannot exchange knowledge or cross fertilise knowledge ? Please leave the forum free for discussion otherwise I will think you have a skeleton in your cupboard that you are hiding. In the christian forum, people are free to discuss and express what their feel is right, so why is the muslim forum not like that ? Why are you importing and exporting terrorism down to the online forum which is meant for people to learn, be corrected, correct, agree and even disagree with one's opinion. You may not like what some people are saying about Islam, but to be honest, people judge things based on what they see. If they say Islam is violent, are they not right ? You may not like that comment, but do you blame them ? How many people have the Jihadist in Nigeria kill for no reason at all ? Just for the cartoon of Muhammed which someone else in Denmark drew, do you know how many people were killed by Jihadist in Nigeria for that ? Do you know how many people have lost their fathers, mothers, children, churches, buildings and businesses as a result of the activities of the Jihadist in Northern Nigeria ? Recently the comatose image of Nigeria was upgraded to the status of a terrorist because of one spoilt boy who is a muslim who believe he could fight for justice in Afghanistan, Iraq and palestine (another man's land), when there are lots of injustice even in Northern Nigeria where he came from. Charity they say begins at home. God have mercy. Jarus, please lets face facts. People will stop bashing Islam if they truly see peace and tolerance in Islam, but as long as they see violence, slaying butchering at any slight provocation, the bashing will never stop.
WTF ![]() What has this got to do with my moderating job of ensuring that the section is clean and as much as possible free from 'abusive words, useless threads, duplicated threads, etc'. |

Abu Zola:The fact the Christians decided to nominate a trouble maker doesnt make it right for me to do so too. When we set out to have this sectional awards, all Mods were informed to make sure the nominees are not people that have records of fighting or ban. I complied. Whether teh Mod at teh other end complied is none of my business. |
IbrahimB:It's the spambot at work. I have also fallen victim a number of times. It auto-deletes posts taht look like spam, like copying and pasting from a site, long typing etc. Next time you are typing long post, you may copy and save a copy on Word so that you if Spambot catches it, you will ahve access to what you typed. I don't have power over this, maybe higher authorities can help. |

I don't work in a bank, but by the nature of my job(Tax Accountant), I deal with bankers. It's a pity to hear that two of the bankers I work with are now gone with the wind. Both are from Oceanic bank and I wonder what criteria they used that affected these ladies. These were people I spoke with a couple of weeks ago and we even had ongoing transactions. I even attentioned her in my last letter to the bank, only to be told she had been sacked and a new officer introduced to me. Very active and passionate about their job. They have been in the system for over 4 years. I was shocked to hear their sack last week. |
During our own time(1998-2001), usually acme out in February. Not sure of what operates now. |
