*****peeping and enjoying the 'match'******* ![]() |
Most NLders and other sports commentators initially tipped Zaki. When Zaki didn't make the Top 3, attention shifted to Aboutrika and Adebayor. I had personally being tipping Adebayor until few days to the event when I had to switch to Aboutrika side, having become convinced about the arguments for the guy. Adebayor really shone at the club level, but did virtually nothing for Togo other than fighting with their FA all the time(They didn't even qualify for Ghana 2008). Aboutrika shone @ Ahly as well as for Egyptian National team. Anyway it's now gone, at least one Nigerian is winning it since 1999 |
Quick one: See what NL and FB have done to me ooo. . . . The better part of Monday to Wednesday spent on NL and FB. It was this morning I realized I had many pending deliverables. One of the Finance Managers scolded me this morning that I had been holding the entire Finance to ransom by not releasing depreciation figures for January and they had not been able to finalize Management reports. I quickly jumped into action and, thankfully, few assets were acquired in the period, so I was able to register them into the system within one hour and run depreciation, and release the figures to them. Many other things have come up. The ED has asked me to get some information for him which requires digging into records kept before I even joined the system. I've not seen the Auditors today. . . .as I was typing this, one Legal officer just came around asking that I supply her with info on all company assets for insurance purpose(I've told her she'll ahve it in teh next one hour) Oh, just remembered now that our Retail Branch Manager for Head Office has asked me to supply her with information on the values of all our stations nationwide. Kai, make I run comot for Nairaland again. . . .flenty, flenty deliverables!!! |
I've got a lot to do today: -I need to get some schedules ready for the Auditors, and that will involve a lot downloading reports and finetuning on Excel -I also need to get some documents for the Auditors. I've been posting them for so long and they have threatened to request for it by email, copying ED -My month-end closing for January is still hanging 12 days into into February. I have not registered all the assets acquired in January and run depreciation on the company's fixed Assets for January. My manager must not hear this -The deadline for the submission of bids for the scrapped company cars we put up for disposal ended yesterday. I have to call a meeting of Asset Disposal Committee for analysis of the bid as teh committee Secretary. All these today. . . . . .Let me start Wow, I will really miss Facebook and Nairaland today |
FBS:Thanks. Yes, I'm very much aware of this. I've already started planning. From getting job/posting to Abuja to the Financial implication of accommodation etc. I have resolved to move to Abj latest June by God's grace. |
twinskenny:Yes I have heard Abuja could be boring. There is surely no place like Lagos. But i personally just want to change environment. I'll be hitting Lagos almost every fortnight, if not every weekend, though. |
that there are more fools in and outside Nigeria than i thought. You are not serious.Nairaland has taught me that Nigerians are one funny set of people. No dulling anywhere there are 10 or more Nigerians. |
I have to toss a coin between HILARIOUS and ADDICTIVE! |

My sister stays at Minister's Hill in Maitama and she paid her rent last month #400k for a two bedroom flat, also a colleague in the office paid #400k for a 2bedroom flat in Maitama (blocks of luxury flats) , though it could take time b4 you get that kind of houses but I can tell you I ve benn to the two houses, they re quite a nice place.Wow. . .this is good news for me. 2 bedroom for 400-500k is a good price. Once I strike out a job/posting to Abuja, then accommodation will be my the next thing to settle. |
I'll try and be there by weekend for inspection by God' grace. From there we'll see what we can do |
@ jarusNo probs. I'll try and be there by weekend for inspection. |
tkb417:TKB, ori mi kuku pe. If a nice bank like GT or PHB gives me a level 3(or even 2 if the pay is up to 6m p.a) I'll take it. I'm currently considering one job now in a govt corporation(not CBN) as 'Assistant Manager' and it's solely because of Abuja. As for hotels, abuja has good 5k hotels in wuse.opposite rockview near efcc, there is eddybinna hotel which is affordable.its taste and search for class that makes people pay 25-55k per night at other hotels.Yes, I got a decent hotel @ 5k in Wuse. It was on a private visit last December though. Just a weekend to catch some fun in Abuja and it cost me close to 100K. If official I would have gone for a top-class hotel like the ones TKB mentioned, afterall it's going to be on company's bill. chihums:This is the range in VI too. A friend that just got a self-contain in Oniru estate paid about that. But I can't live in self contain. I need a 3-bedroom flat. Anyway, I'm still seriously planning to move to Abuja later this year. I know my current company can't post me there, but I'm working out some other options that will favour me. I've also started doing the financial planning. I think 2m should be OK for securing a decent 2 bedroom for two years. |
500k and let's do the dance. . . |
The flight was very smooth and i still remember the plane was named Ikogosi(though it crashed later), i was scared but i pretended as if i was reading newspaper, then suddenly the lady sitting by my side tapped me and said you are reading the papers upsidedown!!!ROTFLMAO. . . ![]() |
I read in newspaper over the weekend that she's preparing to marry one Alhaji Bashir, young, multi-millionaire owner of Rahmaniyyah Oil & Gas. This one doesn't look like the Yar'aduas(Turai or Umoru) unlike her sister Zainab and that small boy whose picture was posted here some time ago. |
Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide, Dele Aiyenugba; It's been long Nigeria had a full team like this for match, even competitive. No excuse now. The only ommissions are injured Martins and YakWe are having our strongest injury-free team. |
Cristalz:Not surprised. Adebayor had been dreaming that award for long. I read his interview about 3 years ago and he said winning APOtY award was hsi dream. His dream is about coming through. Nigerian newspapers are tipping Aboutrika but for Adebayor to have come in with such entourage, it appears he was confident he was going to win, probably having heard from reliable source. It appears winners usually know beforehand as I can't remember winner missing the event. Still wondering why JJ never won this award. . . |
I called you now, you didn't pick it. 08061198625. Let me drop 500k for this car and we'll strike the deal before Friday. |
Is daukoru now a king? |
In the last few months I have also been seriously considering moving to Abuja. I'm beginning to like the place. My current company cannot post me to Abuja, because my dept is basically a head office work. I'm considering moving to a bank(GTB or PHB) and ask that I be posted to Abuja. I learnt Abuja is expensive, but I doubt if it can be more expensive than VI. I live in VI now, and our semi-detached duplex was bought for 50m(na family house o). I was in Abuja in December and I got a decent hotel @ 5k, beyond my imagination. My friend that works in Afribank in Abuja told me he got his two room apartment for @ 140k per annum, whereas a self contain in Vi here cost between 180-400k per annum. Anyway, I'm not deterred by this expensive talk, I want to move to Abuja. How much does a 3 bedroom flat go in different areas pls? I've made up my mind to move to Abj this year. I need to do some budgeting and planning. |
This definitely can't be a serious write-up |
Fulani |
Read this morning that Mikel first to get to camp. But seriously, I dont understand why we play Jamaica all the time?abiiooo. . . We played them in a 3-nation tournament(is it called Unity cup?) in UK in 2004. Nigeria,Ireland and Jamaica. Martins' debut. I can't remember the scroeline but I know we beat both countries, and the match against Ireland(featuring Duff, Keane etc) in that tournament was the best display I have ever seen from Super Eagles since 1994(And Thomas Mlambo of supersport said same thing after that match). A wonderful display from Martins, Utaka and co. I think we beat Ireland 3-0 and Jamaica 2-0, but not too sure. After that, I know we have played Jamaica in friendly two other times. |
We have played Jamaica over and over again. Why can't NFF try more quality oppositions like Germany, France, Argentina, Italy etc. Anyway, what's the time for this match(Nigerian time)? |

We have 53 vote at the united nation of the 200 vote. why would we want to reduce it to 1 vote. . and we would not reduce that voting power. We are not a stupid people as people have assumed. The most sensible statement from Becommrich I have ever read! |
A quick question, any idea on how to transit from being the laid back person that I am to being hardworking on my job like y'all? I faff around on fb/NL for most hours of my working day! HELP!Can you be more laid back than me? It's an issue I'm personally battling to get over. It's very serious for me. Imagine, I have been in office for the past 5 hours. I spent the first three hours on Nairaland and the last two facebooking. I have not done any work in office today, other than making a couple of phone calls. The auditor auditing my accounts was around about 1 hour ago and I only posted him to come back. Since he left, I opened facebook again and I've not done other official thing. Well, my own problem is I'm too free. My boss doesn't have time for me. My work hardly involves deadlines. So I'm usually on my own. Sometimes I feel guilt that do I really deserve this salary I'm collecting, given the number of office hours I spend on unofficial things? And ironically, I get the highest rating from my boss of all his subordinates. |
asha 80:Good talk. It's a pity Algeria is no longer a force to reckon with in African football. I remember the 5-2 drubbing they suffered in Eagles's hand on the ir soil in September 2005. |
Nice joining this thread. I actually work in the same company with one of the active discussants here(both of us in Head Office, same floor, but different depts, his dept just centimetres away from mine, but I never knew he was also an active Nairalander until when I went to his dept a couple of weeks ago and he addressed me as JARUS. . .I was surprised he knew me as Jarus, and I knew he must be a Lander to know me by that name. He must have recognized me thru my profile picture). Hmmnnn, back to subject of the thread. New to this thread, but definitely not new to most of the peeps here as we have been meeting in other sections before. Well, I work as an Accountant in the downstream subsidiary of one of Nigeria's key players in the Oil and Gas sector. Will become fully inducted into the discussion later. |
