Jarus plans to marry two wives, insha Allah! ![]() |
Kudos to the Fying Eagles |
I think the quality of players he has at his disposal should be able to cover his technical deficiency! |
Seeing Mikel play at times makes one imagine if one couldn't have done better on the field! I know this is just wishful thinking, but imagine that thought coming to the mind alone!! A midfielder that cannot hold ball for 3 seconds!!! |

I think there are multiple heroes here: 1, The pilot 2, The emergency agencies 3, The passengers |
The level headedness of the passengers alone contributed to them all getting out alive. My big sis works with NNPC on a flight going to Warri there was really bad turbulence and they were trying to calm people down and telling everyone to sit down with their seat belts fastened. She said people were still getting out and kneeling in the ailses and praying loudly. If that plane had gone down all those people kneeling would at the very least have serious lifethreatening injuries. These people styaed calmSpot on. That's what I'm saying. I doubt if Nigerian passengers(including me) will be calm enough to observe the safety measures, from putting on the life-jacket to opening emergency door etc. Kai, those passengers tried o. |
Just posting here to salute the Pilot's professionalism, wisdom and rare bravery! He deserves to be named MAN OF THE YEAR 2009!!! The whole thing was very amazing as I watched it on Sky news as breaking news on Thursday night, and later yesternight. It was like a film. Another thing that amazed me was how the passengers were calm enough on the wing of the plane.Kai, if na me i go don faint. In fact I don't think I'll be settled enough to put on the life-jacket. Anytime, I'm on board and the cabin crew announce all those safety guides, especially the statement ''. . .in the unlikely event of this aircraft landing in water, pull out the life-jacket under your seat and , '', I used to think all these things are just formalities, that no one will even remember one life-jacket is somewhere in the face of emergency. I don't even listen to the announcement as I use to dismiss all those so-called safety tips as just theory. So all these things are real!!! But kai, e no easy o to remember that o, Henceforth,I'll be listening to those tips, who knows? |

Saw it somewhere, but only interested in Naija's match. Our match is tomorrow. I can't wait to watch these Tella boys(Oseni,Chrisantus etc) again! |
Debosky, Cristalz, Mukina et al, Thanks for calling me to order. No offence intended really, even though I knew that comment would stir a barrage of criticisms, especially from my dear Mukina, who had somewhere in the past e-scolded me for my quick reference to GW every where. Well, I'm not in any way promoting GW( a forum that has denied me registration for over 3 months now), but I can't restrian myself from making it as a reference anywhere the need arises, just as I quote NL too virtually everyday in my real life discussions with colleagues, friends and as well at home, such that I'm now called Mr. Nairalander. So no taking anything away from NL. Mio koyan NL kere rara(Mukina, hope u know the meaning )And thanks too for calling my attention to the fact that even my acclaimed following of Nigerian football is only limited to our foreign players. Make I no lie,I tune on anytime I tune to Supersport and they are showing Nigerian league. So we are all guilty of it really. I'm aware that many of the frontline NL sports analysts know much about Nigerian football and league (especially of the 80s thru early 90s, when Nigerian league used to be interesting), but they don't just like to discuss it, except as a digression. I can't recall the thread where Dayokanu,Akolawole(or is Dr. Kit?) and co digressed to talking about Shooting stars, Abiola babes, Leventis, Nigeria FA cup of the 80s, 90s, as well as Eagles players/matches in 86, 88, 90,92,94 ANCs. I was surprised with the precision those guys were mentioning names of players I rarely heard. So I'm not in anyway downplaying the knowledge of NL analysts about football going-ons in Naija, only that you guys hardly talk about it, and since that's my own 'area of interest' GW serves me better in this respect!!! |
Mr Debo, No be fight. |
Congrats Abu Treika. We hope CAF will also give you. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/7828436.stm |
Yeap, I also think Gervinho deserves a spot. Ditto for Song. |
YESSSSSOOOOOO . . . .SEUN PLS IT'S A GOOD IDEA ME, I'M AN ARDENT FOLLOWER OF NIGERIAN FOOTBALL. I FOLLOW THE PERFORMANCE OF NIGERIAN PLAYERS ABROAD, ARDENTLY SUPPORT/FOLLOW SUPER EAGLES AND OUR JUNIOR NATIONAL TEAMS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY THERE ARE NO THREADS HERE WHERE SUCH ARE DISCUSSED. IF YOU START ONE, IT WILL DIE B4 2 DAYS. I HAVE STARTED MANY THREADS ON NIGERIAN PLAYERS/SUPER EAGLES BUT ONLY ''HAS NIGERIA EVER PRODUCED A WORLD CLASS PLAYER?'' SURVIVES TILL 5 PAGES. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A SET OF PEOPLE AS NIGERIANS. WE HARDLY DISCUSS OUR PLAYERS/TEAMS. ALL YOU SEE IS ARSENAL,CHELSEA,BARCA ETC. I SUPPORT ARSENAL, BUT I HAVE NEVER OPENED THAT LONG THREAD ON IT. IRONICALLY, IF U GO O GHANAWEB, A GHANAIAN FORUM, YOU GET FRESH, LIVELY DISCUSSIONS ON NIGERIA, NIGERIAN PLAYERS, NIGERIAN TEAMS ETC. THERE ARE MORE THAN 20 LIVELY THREADS ON MIKEL OBI ALONE IN THAT SITE. THERE ARE THREADS ON NSOFOR, YAKUBU, OGBUKE, ETC IN GW. IN FACT THOSE GHANAIANS SEEM TO KNOW NIGERIAN FOOTBALL MORE THAN MANY OF US HERE. IMAGINE THEM FREELY QUOTING NIGERIA'S MATCHES OF 1950'S. ANYWAY, GW IS WHERE I GO TO READ 'NIGERIANIZED FOOTBALL' EVERY MORNING. http://discussions.ghanaweb.com/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=984d9837c0ca7b35ad3800c8efd91412 SEUN, BUT I DONT SEE THIS THING WORKING, MANY FORUMERS HERE ARE JUST NOT INTERESTED IN DISCUSSING NIGERIAN FOOTBALL, EPL IS THE DEAL. SO IF YOU OPEN THREADS ON NIGERIAN FOOTBALL, DON'T BE SURPRISED THAT YOU WILL BE THE OTHER POSTER, OR MAYBE YOU CAN SEE 3 PEOPLE BEFORE YOU FIND THE THREAD IN PAGE 3 THE NEXT DAY. I'm sorry for posting in block letter. Okamilara ni! |
allboyz:I don't agree totally with this. I think it is these players that let their success get into their heads and start to misbehave after getting to Europe and making name. Most of those under-age tournaments we excelled in were prosecuted by boys hungry for success, most of which are either still in domestic league or somewhere in Belgium,Norway,Egypt(less-fancied leagues) but once they shine in those youth tournaments and get clubs in England,France, spain etc, they begin to select matches to play for the country, feeling bigger than the coach, when they graduate to the National team. |
dayokanu:Nigeria: Poor ANC performance, but with 6-0-0 WCQ campaign(read somewhere the only country in the world that didn't drop a point in the WCQ), I think the nomination is not out of place, even though everybody knows Egypt is winning it. Nsofor: Because of Nigeria's firm grip of age-grade tournaments every year, at least one Nigerian usually appears in the category of Young APOY award. Martins(2003,2004), Mikel(2005), Taiwo(2nd in 2005, and winner 2006),Ganiyu Oseni(3rd in 2007). I knew one Nigerian will also make the shortlist this year but I thought it would be Ogbuke. Nsofor too did not have a bad year. He deserves nomination. But winning? With Kalou, I doubt if he can win it. |
Just bumped on this topic now. A good friend of mine just hinted me few days ago that he wanted to purchase his first car, and eyeing a Hyundai Elantra. He sought my opinion on whether to go for it or any other brand, setting his budget at not more than N2.5m. I instantly advised him that I personally prefer popular brands like Honda and Toyota, but with 2.5m he may not be able to buy brand new of those ones. But in order not to sound as if I was commanding him, I told him Hyundai was not bad either, but he should not go for Kia(I just hate that brand). However, since Hyundai office is just opposite my office, I helped him made enquiries last week and I was surprised Hyundai cars were that cheap. I was given this list: Elantra 1.6 MT 1.88m Elantra 1.6 AT 2.29m Elantra 2.0 MT 2.59m Elantra 2.0 AT 2.69m Elantra 2.0 AT 2.74m I inspected the cars and liked them. Unfortunately I cannot say anything about the techical side, but these cars are beautiful and cheap to me. |
naijacutee:Although I understand no more than very little Hausa(served in Sokoto) I was told there are different dialects of Hausa too. Sokoto Hausa is way different from Kano Hausa, I learnt. For example, in Kano Hausa 'eeh' is used to mean 'Yes', but in Sokoto Hausa it's another term. . . oh I've forgotten the word! |
You cannot be a Muslim and a Christian at the same time. |
We work in the same company, on the same floor, our desks just few metres away from each other, but we are in different departments. We know each other, of course, but our interactions don't go beyond greeting. A couple of hours ago, I found myself in their department and I heard him call me 'JARUS!'. I was shocked. I never knew he was a Nairalander. I was particularly surprised at his knowing me. I was shocked to be addressed by NL username. Obviously, he had seen my picture in my profile. Well, we just had a small gist about NL and we departed. He was also a Grade 'A' Nairalander, a frequent poster, but for personal reasons, he preferred to be anonymous and didn't tell me his username. And I don't have a problem with that. He was the 2nd Nairalander I'm meeting live. The first was in a cafe in Sokoto in late 2007. |
At last CAF has come up with the Top 3 nominees for the 2008 APOTY award, dropping Drogba and Zaki. This has laid to rest the argument that Zaki is winning this one. The final shortlist goes thus: Final shortlist Glo-CAF Player of the Year (Across the world) Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal and Togo) Michael Essien (Chelsea and Ghana) Mohamed Aboutreika (Al-Ahly and Egypt) Glo-CAF Player of the Year (Across Africa) Ahmed Hassan (Al-Ahly and Egypt) Flavio Amado (Al-Ahly and Angola) Mohamed Aboutreika (Al-Ahly and Egypt) Stephen Worgu (Enyimba FC and Nigeria) Tresor Mputu Mabi (T.P. Mazembe and DR Congo) National Team of the Year Cameroon Egypt Nigeria Club of the Year Al-Ahly (Egypt) Club Sportif Sfaxien (Tunisia) Coton Sport (Cameroon) Young Player of the Year Salomon Kalou (Chelsea and Cote d’Ivoire) Stephane Mbia (Stade Rennais and Cameroon) Victor Obinna Nsofor (Inter Milan and Nigeria). I can see you are new in NL, with 5 posts. This topic has been overdiscussed. Search. |
FBS:I also use to give him this excuse until now. Mikel just sucks now. Unlike under JM when he was strictly a DM, he now pushes forward under Big Phil, but still can't do anything special. He has played his natural CM role for Super Eagles a number of times, but his performance is just poor. Not in any way outstanding. Imagine a player that cannot hold ball for 3 seconds. Imagine a player that only passes sideways and backward. |
Muza:The same wrong use of words caused confusion here some time ago when the caption of the story says: SERVICE CHIEFS SACKED, when in fact Paul Dike was not sacked, rather given a higher position of as CDS from CAS. Xavier, I disagree. I don't think sack is the right word. |
hassanic:Michael Jackson: Strong indications, but not yet confirmed Kaka: I doubt that Anelka, Ribery,Kanoute,Abidal: Yes |
just glanced thru the article, But I can see from the use of 'Mohammedans' to describe Muslims, I already suspect it was written by these orientalists that distort Islamic history. Describing Muslims as 'Mohammedans' is typical of them and unfortunately, you find many texts written by them around, distorting facts about Islam/Muslims. And typically, I can see the writer of that article says the Islamic punishment for eating with left hand is to declare the person an outcast, cut off his right hand thereby rendering that individual a permanent outcast, because he can no longer eat with family or friend. This is outright lie against Islam. Yes, it is true that a Muslim should not eat with Left hand, but I'm not aware that breaking that rule attracts cutting the person's right hand. The article is farcical. |
