No wahala. Ribadu's trial is already known to everybody and I definitely can't bring in anything new. The write-up is just to express my views on the issue. My simple view is that Ribadu meant well for this country and is been persecuted for stepping on powerful toes. Little mention will however be made of how he allowed OBJ to use in witchhunting his political foes.
Simple as that. Nothing new. No big deal.

mikeansy,
Yes, Azu has written a book titled as above, extract of which you posted here. I'm aware that the book exists, but i have never set my eyes on it, not to talk of reading it,  In fact the first paragragh of my write-up(still in draft, see attached) is a reference to his book.
the two are entirely different. His is a book, mine is just a newspaper article. Totally different views, same topic. In order to be different, I was considering another title(The trial of Mallam Nuhu), but I'm sticking to that for now.

Though most people do not realize is, but Charles Soludo has saved the economy and Nigerians billions of Naira, If he never initiated the recapitalisation, many of the over 100 banks then, would have failed now due to the economic turmoil the world is in now. These failed banks would have gone down with our money, and no one will refund.

Nuhu Ribadu is also on my Hero list. Never before has a police man shown so much uprightness and commitment towards fighting corruption. Its PATHETIC how the government agencies has rewarded this formost fighter of corruption (where is Ibori and his cohorts, probably sipping charmpagne in Spain)

True heros should be celebrated, so the coming generation could have role models to look to.

Please post your Hero of the year! smiley
Soludo and Ribadu my picks too.

Is every nigerian this boastful? Or is it a disturbing behavior they learnt from their politicians; i will build this, i will be build that. Their advert will be on air till they vacate office without actually building anything?

As for ife-eco06, i know you can deliver, but go and get your work done before coming here to advertise it. You don't get to see Okay Ndibe or Abati making noise about their work before its done.
Waiting for your piece.
Read this with a mixture of loud laugh grin and anger angry, but I'm used to NL, so I hardly get annoyed by NL comments. The boldened part made me LOL, and the italicised annoyed me. Anyway, you are free to say anything about me.
I didn't have any boastful intent in my putting up the thread. In fact if I had known a thread as https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-199001.0.html existed, I woudn't have started this thread in the first place. I had started this thread before seeing that one.

Then Zamfara Governor has met me. He was priviledged to fly first class with me, on a local flight from Lagos to Abuja.

P-Square and his crew also flew with me aboard SA Airways to South Africa (Economy class)

Mark Morrison ( Remember that song, return of the mark) sat with me on an easy jet flight-Amsterdam -Geneva.

Lucky Igbinedion wanted to speak with me on a flight, Lagos -London.  However, i tried hard for them not to realise that it was Megastu of Nairaland otherwise they would have mobbed me.

Islam › Re: The Salafi Dawah by Jarus(m): 1:01pm On Nov 20, 2008
tharma:
Salafi Da'awah is not a sect or a religion group, it is rather a movement or what people may called a wind of change. It has no leader nor does it have special guide books like other sects such as Qadiyani, Ahmadiya, shi'a, tijjaniya, qadiriyya. The Salaf movement started as a result of quest by individual muslims that needed to seek for the truth and nothing but the truth. They based their argument and da'wah based on authentic ahadiths and rightful interpretation of Islamic injunctions. The Salaf Da'awah encourages everybody to seek for knowledge and not based their understanding of Islam only to what their Ulamas, sheiks or Imams of their sects tell them.

However that does not mean that the people involve in the Salaf movement are perfect. We always, seems to think and accept that once a person is very versed in Islamic Knowledge he will not make a mistake or he is faith is unquestionable. Knowledge is completely different from taqwa. There are always weak muslims no matter how knowledgeable they are. There will be always be weak Ulamas that are apolegetic to the government. In Saudi Arabia there are many Salaf sheiks that are sponsored/paid by the government in order to keep the society at bay. And in Saudi there are many, many Salaf sheiks in prison because they are found to be extreme. And there are many that just keep quite because they can't do anything (and these are many). Scholars apolegetic to the government does not start today. Even during the time of the Sahaba, during the reign of Mu'awiyya and his son Yazid, it happens.

One thing we should appreciate about the da'awah of the Salaf it brought about the revival of the early Islamic culture of seeking of knowledge. People now seek for knowledge. And people are allowed to think and express themselves within the realm of what is halal. If not because of that, alot muslims will have being bonded to the supplication and worship of saints.

There has been a longstanding debate about their origin. Some say they are descendants of Alimi, hence Fulani, some say they are from Afonja, hence Yoruba. The ruling family is fulani. Saraki, gambari and others prefer to be called Fulani, even though they bear Yioruba name and can't speak Fulani. the present emir, then Justice ibrahim kolapo Sulu Gambari, dropped hsi yoruba name,Kolapo, after becoming emir, telling you he's not Yoruba.
And even among our contemporaries,I've seen some Ilorin peers that will tell you he/she is not Yoruba.

Their history is complicated.

@ife-eco
i totally disagree with you,if they both had 40 pages idiagbon's page by virtue of his works will be filled with positives, the only negatives anyone has ever been able to pin on him is quite commendable for a nigerian leader not corruption, not nepotis, not mismanagement, not tribalism but using strong arm tactics e.t.c if you had some koboko are you saying you wouldnt have used it on some of our politicians with the way they carry on?accepted ribadu started on a good note but in the middle started messing up and then got caught up in his own mess, i assureou that if he had not pandered to obasanjo's desires, the wrst that would have happened was that, obj would have relieved him and yar adua would have brought him back, but when they have the trappings of power, they never think of tmorrow,
atiku brought ribadu to aso rock and elevated him to the level where he towered over and above his contemporaries and superiors before getting the e.f.c.c. job but he turned round to betray his benefactor when he found a better meal ticket, that doesnt sound to me like an individual with sound principles and moral standing, which idiagbon was till his death

so ribadu is bolder more disciplined than idiagbon, even though he unjustly hounded atiku and his co-horts solely based on obasanjo's prompting and on flimsy excuses.
he unjustly hounded the tejuoso boy(lanre)at obasanjo's prompting just because the man was contesting against iyabo obasanjo
obasanjo's daughter s escapades i.e the health contract in austria had been on his table since a year before but he refused to act on it
what happened to the properties of the convicted 419 king pin onwude, didnt ribadu undersell some of the man's choiciest properties to his cronies and fronts for a fraction of the market price?and there have been ALLEGATIONS of same thing under him with other seized items,i know for a fact also that he collected a bmw and ten million naira from a northern governor to shield him
he is not in the same league as idiagbon AT ALL
Both guys may have used different styles, the fact remains that if a 50-page history of corruption/indiscipline fighting in Nigeria is written, both guys will share 40 pages for their efforts.
By the way, I learnt, but not confirmed that EFCC headquarters in Abuja named after Idi-Agbon(Idi-Agbon House) has been renamed? How true? Any info on this? Who knows?

Idiagbon was an Islamic fascist-Deepzone

Prices are up in Nigeria b/c of the repercussions brought by years of looting and embezzlement by corrupt northern leaders.Boy, you are so barbaric.-Deepzone
Deepzone, can you ever make a post without attacking North and Islam, even if the topic is Arsenal Vs Man-U?

I used to be just a visitor to NL before, but there was a discussion on my university which I couldn't resist not contributing. That was why I joined NL. The zeal to defend my uni, which informed my joining, reflected on the username I chose.

Now I'm no longer comfortable with that ID. First,I'm not the only Ife grad here. Dayokanu, tkb, spikedcylinder, eastbay and others also are. The ID is too expressive.
Pls Seun send me a private message so that I can reply you, stating the new ID I want be known as.

Ibime:
Must get rid of creaking legs. . . . . that includes Yakubu, Kanu, Utaka. . . . . and even Yobo is starting to look that way recently. . . . . Obodo also looks tired for Udinese recently, whether that is age or injury, I don't know. . . .

My preferred line-up:

Ejide

Odiah Shittu Adeleye Taiwo

Kaita/Ajilore Mikel

Okoronkwo/ Ibrahim

Uche Obasi

Odemwingie

Reasons:

Ejide is not only decent at shotstopping, the advantage I give him over the others is that he is good at claiming crosses.
I took Yobo out because I think he may be getting old.
Kaita is an animal so I put him in. Defensively sound and extremely fit.
Okoronkwo has potential to be a great Kanu type of creative player. Playing right-wing didn't do him justice in the Olympics.
Finally, there is great movement and interchangeability between Uche, Obasi and Odemwingie. Anichebe or Martins could come on if we need more of a physical presence.
I don't have any probs with your choice of Ejide as GK, even though I'll prefer Enyeama.
Your defence line-up is good. I think that's our strongest, if Adeleye doesn't shiver like Apam did against CIV when tested in Ghana 2008. But I think Adeleye would have gained confidence, having defended against super stars like Aguero and Messi.
I'm not comfortable with your midfield at all. Remember Kaita, fresh from WYC star performance, was used in our match Vs CIV in 2006 ANC, and Yaya Toure totally overshadowed him and our midfield was crap. Leaving our midfield for all these Kaitas/Ajilores/Rabius could spell disaster for us. I prefer to see Ayila and Kalu Uche in there, and Mikel move forward.
Your forward also looks OK. The three players have almost the same style of play, very skilful and and like to cut inside from the wing. But I always prefer we play a natural striker as our TOP 9.By 9 type of striker I mean the likes of Nisterooy,Drogba,Ronaldo de Lima, and our own Yekinni. Martins,Yak,Anichebe are our best bet for this role, currently. So I'll rather put Martins  or  Yak as our pointsman, with any two of Obasi, Osaz or Uche  supporting from the flanks.

So feared was he that all the 419 kingpins went into hiding.Drug barons went underground. All the corrupt politicians and dubious businessmen that had field day during flexible Shagari's regime were shivering. He initiated War Against indiscipline(WAI).It was a total war against corruption. Street hawking was a crime.Farming was emphasized and land given to people to farm.Houses that were unduly close to roads were marked for demolition. The only problem then was that everybody(including the innocent, unfortunately) was living in fear, because no one knew what the next rule/law will be. I was very young but still remember some of these policies. Some people believe it was extremism

even though he was only a vice president,he s a man in the mould and class of thomas sankara, and as far as i am concerned he is the only authentic leader who s totally above board in nigeria, no one can accuse him of being corrupt other than the fact that he was too rigid e.t.c even in spite of that,he got things done and only GOD knows where nigeria would have been in the committee of nations by now, red about allegations that he was intentionally killed with poisoned tea like they did m.k.o abiola

I agree with this statement.general Idiagbon is everything you pasted and more.he was all things positive.and above all he was a very brave and fearless man,not know to be tribalistic.Ibb told him not to return to Nigeria when their regime was overthrown,he came.
If he was to be president he would have been a benevolent dictator.Nigeria would have made enormous progress by now.He would have been our own Atarturk!
He had the option to stay back in Saudi Arabia but instead, still came back home.
So fearless that when he came back all he told the battalions of Soldiers waiting to arrest him at the airport was "just a shot from just one of you is enough to kill me.Why all these troops doing because of me only?"
I learnt the first thing he said when he heard from Mecca that he had been overthrown was ''How's Ibrahim(IBB)? Hope they didn't kill him?". Unknown to him, it was his Ibrahim that overthrew the govt. But more critically,I don't blame IBB, since coup remains the only way of coming to power in military.Afterall,Idiagbon and co also came to power by coup.
Also he died few weeks to OBJ's swearing in(April 1999) and it was alleged that he was poisoned(Allah knows best). I read in papers then that he would have been part of OBJ's govt, probably as Chief of staff. Newspapers reported that he was wailing and crying like a baby, complaining of severe stomach ache before he finally died, to the extent that people around him couldn't believe the the hitherto stern and brave Idi-Agbon could be crying like a baby. This life!!!

Interestingly, IBB was teh first person that rushed to Ilorin upon the news of his death, and he was covered publicly crying. He was referred to as Chief Mourner by newspaers then.
