jmaine: Personally . .i don't subscribe to the motion that the ACN is conductingor sponsoring the protest . .the students protest was a spontaneous reaction to the "Weak arguement" that "Moshood" is not a tushed name hence de-repping their swag . . .

I feel the ACN have only been wrong footed in this move . .they can't come out publicly to applaud it or denounce . .whichever . .it's a huge minus to them . . .so like they say . .silence is golden and they have adopted it to play safe on this . . .

P.S . . .The protesting students cuts across tribal and ethnic lines . . .They are Unilag students first & foremost, and that is what they stand for protesting what they term as an embarassing name not befitting their swagger . .lame line of excuse . . . i must say . . .
Thank you. Most of them will NEVER understand! You know, anything to fit their purpose!

Gbawe: Indeed. The guy is not only a hypocrite, he is a bigot with a specific hate/inferiority complex issue against Yorubas that always compels him to do things like this. If he is not mischievously trying to derail any positive thread about the SW with negativity, you will find him making senseless statement slyly trying to disenfranchise Yorubas.

The forum should ask him to explain the ridiculously inane lie that could only have been told to disingenously deny the real and undoubted influence and importance of Yorubas in Nigeria.

Many dislike the Yorubas but most are not stupid enough to utter the garbage below. Guys, just look at the repulsive, highly ignorant rant below. Aside the stupidity of arrogating intellect/economic importance horribly wrongly ("Bendelites" ) and obviously deliberately denying it wrongly also (inane and deliberate failure to mention the Yorubas), we are directly confronted with the hypocrisy of this silly bigot.

We have the usual noise that Lagos economy is run by Igbos yet , with this thread, we have the hypocrisy seeking to insinuate their children don't go to UNILAG. Shameless mischief from this bigot now sees him seeking to propagate this is a "Yoruba" protest and an indicator the Yorubas do not love MKO when commonsense tells us this protest is likely to be comsmopolitian in nature - at least concerning the students themselves and teaching Staff. Anyway, 'goodluck' to those who take Papabrowne and his co-travellers serious on this forum.

P.S. anyone can go to the thread below to see my response the bigot ran away from.

Ndigbo, I apologise for using you as an example.

Papabrowne, rather I think you exposed your hypocrisy.

A few months ago, the University of Nigeria, Nnsuka was about to be renamed after Ojukwu or Nnamdi (not sure which it was). The Igbo kicked against it, no one said the Igbo hates them. Now the Yorubas are doing the same and you brand them hypocrites??

Mister, search your heart well and find out what is biting you.

Interesting!

I once read somewhere that during the Berlin convention in late 1800's. The Yorubas or the Anago people as known back then, were divided into three equal halves. A third in Nigeria, a Third in Benin rep and the last third in Togo.

Can someone verify this?

This is just too hypocritical. Are you telling me GEJ loves Abiola more than his own people??!

Love this comment by Pa Eziachi

By Eziachi
Please give me a break with your Abiola lecture, you can't love him more than his own kinmen. This has nothing to do with Abiola as a person but just Nigerian wicked politics of divide and rule. How can any sane person woke up one morning and thought to himself that he is going to change one of the biggest educational brand name in Africa after a politician?

Most of you knew my admiration and love for Emeka Ojukwu (Ikemba) and I will do anything to defend his name, honour and dignity, but if anybody is to go out tomorrow and change the name of Nsukka University after his name, I will kick out the greatest opposition against it. Because Nsukka as an institution is an irreplaceable world recognised brand name for the Biafran nation.

Ife, Nsukka, Accra, Cairo, Nairobi and Lagos universities names in my opinion is untouchable, its a worldwide known brand, how can anybody except a clueless with brainless advisers of a president do such a thing?
Its like renaming Harvard after Reagan, or start calling Oxford/Cambridge Winston Churchill university.

Knowing how evil and calculated Nigerian politicians are, this action is either precipitated by politics of divide and rule because they hope to achieve a scenario where if the Yoruba will say, we hated the idea, they will turn into that Yoruba/ACN hates Abiola and use it to polarize the zone or just Nigerian ineptness that causes then not to recognise the value of anything and Jonathan must surely be badly advised and should reverse this decision. This is not about Abiola.
PoliticsRe: Tension In Adamawa As Igbo Traders Protest Killings by jason123: 3:31pm On May 29, 2012
Igbo people are long suffering! I commend them for that. Imagine if this had happened to NDeltans or Yorubas; Warri, PH, Benin, Lagos and Shagamu will be BOILING!!!

On a second thought, why are the so called traders there in the first place? With the bombings, one would have thought that Southerners would have left the North. undecided

Funny topic. Even funnier write-up

I guess GEJ also exposed the hypocrisy of the Igbo. He tried to rename the University of Nigeria to University of Ojukwu. Why did the Igbo go against it?! We all thought they love Ojukwu?!

Well, I'll repeat it.

Edos and Yorubas have a good history! A mixture of the two produced the Itsekiris. Do not let anyone or group cause strife between you two. I have both groups in my family. Guys, although this is the internet; try to be watchful of what you say to eachother. Other people will form usernames to cause strife so be watchful.

CultureRe: Do Edo (Bini) People See Themselves As Yorubas? by jason123: 2:45am On May 28, 2012
UncleJJ: Truth be told, this is just another conspiracy by the Yoruba people to dominate anything or anyone they can. Yes, Edo and Yoruba share some history but its not enough to say the Edo come from the Yoruba's , even though this is what i was taught in the past. Bt, as we all know - back then the Yoruba "dominated" the education sector and it would have been easy for them to bury the truth.

There is a part of Edo land that speak yoruba's - they are called "Akoko Edo". The Nupe's too have a Yoruba names, i believe - this scenario of finding the Yoruba people in certain place can be traced to their culture of "it's no big deal if a girl gets pregnant out of wedlock".

On the case of the Yoruba man supporting the Edo - please all you 'tori-olo' niggas - Edo land jst dey carry one eye look you. ACN had nothing to do with Oshiomole's past and soon coming victories. Edo Land knows where to go to when thier is fire - and it is certainly not to the yoruba people, you guys have a long history of cowardice and betrayal - which is not synonymous to the Edo man. This is the hard truth - but it must be told. You cant be trusted !!! Shegu - masu kashi a' leather !!

And, oooh yeah - i am from edo state "Auchi" to be precise @@

Re: Should Power Return To The North In 2015? by UncleJJ(m): 9:19pm On Nov 04, 2011
Sai hakuri - 2015 is going to the north. No hope until the north complete its 12 yrs. GEJ, has proven that the south-politikos know nothing about politics and ruling this country. Every decision GEJ makes is a wrong move - which amplifies his inexperience as an administrator.

FYI - pops frm SS . mums frm SE . me grown up in NE , now making green in the SW!

Believe it or not , i know what am saying. The northerner are natural politicians and the igbos natural businessmen while the yoruba's are gifted in education.

If this country, must return to its lost glory - their must be division of labour. North should take presidency and major administrative position, east should control commerce and industralization while the west should control the education industry from the university to KG.

PoliticsRe: Don’t Abandon Me In These Trying Times, Jonathan Begs Nigerians by jason123: 10:50pm On May 27, 2012
In as much as I respect GEJ and I think he should be respected, I'll have to say that he allowed his presidency to be mired by ethnic, religious and regional sentiment which reduced his power base in the country. This coupled with the already frustrating situation in Nigeria gave rise to the discontent he is receiving from Nigerians.

I just hope God gives him the wisdom to rule such a complex nation like Nigeria!

Papabrowne is a PDP man. Lol, simple political fractures. Nothing more!

ikachi1: You argue like a child. There was a time the Roman empire extended through out the whole of Europe, Africa and even Asia minor. Today Italy is smaller than the Gauls. (Germans and some French) Latin use to be a language spoken by many. Today, it is no more. Used only in churches. Empires rise and fall. That does not destroy the fact that the empire existed and prosperred. I was witness to Mathew Kerekou's visit to Benin. They had just changed their country's name from Dahomey to Benin. He explained the reason why they did that. They trace their origin to Benin. Whether you like to hear that or not, that is the way it is. If you disagree with something, you must have a different idea with facts. Tell your facts please.

When and how
did the Bini empire get to Dahomey?! For educational purposes, did Bini EVER conquer the Dahomey Kingdom? I thought it was the Oyos that did the conquering of Dahomey?!
CultureRe: Do Edo (Bini) People See Themselves As Yorubas? by jason123: 7:07pm On May 26, 2012
I am of the opinion that the Bini and Yorubas are twin empires who have mutual respect for each other. Whether one came from the other is IRRELEVANT because the Binis will not look down on the Yorubas and likewise! Binis and Yorubas are twins that can hardly be separated!

Bini was landlocked!! Olokun is a Yoruba god, period.
