I remember back then in Jss1 when my dad’s brother came to brainwash him to build houses in their village.
It all started like this: My dad singlehandedly came to Lagos on his own at 15, he toiled and suffered before he eventually became a multi millionaire. He was able to build houses and owned a lot of landed properties and trained us in the best schools.
His blood brothers were envious of him and they always lamented on how he was wasting his money training girls in school. Whenever they come to Lagos, they do return to the village with bundles of money. Well, that wasn’t enough for them though. In fact, my dad helped them by bringing some of their children to Lagos to work.
One day, a particular brother of his came to Lagos and told my dad he needed to build houses in the village because of his mother. My dad loved his mother so greatly. I remember my mum kicking against the idea but he was determined, his brother took him to the village and after seven days, they called us that he was sick and couldn’t eat.
Eventually they brought him back to Lagos but he was like a walking corpse. All the test we ran showed nothing, he would pee on his body and whenever he ate, the food just sinks in and you definitely hear the noise.
To cut the story short, he died three months after suffering so hard. I couldn’t bear the sight of him. He suffered to death for no reason.
All he labored for, they didn’t allow him enjoy it in his old age.
I was 12 but I knew I wasn’t going to see him again the moment he was buried.
And boom! These family people came to share properties.
The only saving grace was that my dad had a lawyer.

I didn't have any parent because my grandma played the role of a father and mother ,I remember when we were very young, I think I was about 6 years old my dad had abandoned us already, things were so bad for us to the extent that we were using rain water to drink garri once a day.

I remember my grandma and big sis going out to hawk banana (ogede paranta), those were very dark times and even despite my young age I can still remember the scenario vividly.
My only regret is that my grandma isn't alive to eat the fruits of her labour.... I really miss and appreciate her...God bless her in heaven for me.

I hope to build a house in her memory to mark her burial anniversary.

Wow!! If at 6 years old the memory can be imprinted on your mind...then words can't explain the situation!

my family is just complicated, my dad is rich but he does'nt take care of home. My mom was once rich i remember vividly even tho i was young then. she own a very popular amala restaurant then but the death of my elder sister and younger bro crashed it all.
the memory of my mom using most of her sales money to deliver my baby bro through operation nd yet he still died a year later weakens me.
no matter what, i will strive hard to take of mom since dad no send us.

Keep her characteristics with you as you look forward to motherhood too!

When I was in Secondary school I was quite brilliant (even till date) , then came early retirement for popsy, though having served 32 years ,we didn't see it coming but it did.

Mehn things where rough ,I was in Jss3 then in a private school with the dream of going to London or Canada to complete my education but all that was halted as I even had to voluntarily drop out of secondary school since we could not afford my school fees again and took to cement selling.

Dad was in Lagos struggling to make ends meet all he could afford was maybe #1500 card every week for a family of 5, the day my Dad learnt I dropped out of school his voice broke on the phone...I was the one consoling him like "hey don't worry Sir I will be great, I'm fine "

Mum really tried , sometimes I see the pretty woman going to hawk waterleaf I will just start crying.

God preserved us with a certain kind of happiness and bond if not ehnnnn.... It was crazy .

Kaaaiiii.... this your experience brings tears to my eyes honestly! Chaiiiii.... when a father's voice breaks....then an earthquake has happened! Hope you are all good now ...

Speaking about registration, I didn't allow my dad to go with me then, but when seeking admissions he was everywhere with me ... he'd step into any office and speak with boldness....and even when I couldn't get admitted twice he made sure I stayed focused....and these characters I still have today.... thanks to him! RIP Dad...I really missed you...

Early 1996, I fell sick suddenly and had to be rushed to the hospital. It was a private clinic and while I was waiting to see the doctor my dad was at the cashier trying to pay....
A while later he came towards me with a sour face...I couldn't read his thoughts...
Much later I was attended to and given some drugs and allowed to go home.
When I got better, my dad told me what happened at the cashier.
He hadn't enough money to complete my treatment...so he was lost in thought... while pondering on the next move...a man was also at the cashier trying to pay for his sick child's drugs and treatment....and was leafing through a bundle of notes! Counted and paid without flinching! More than 10 times my treatment money! My dad said he felt sorry for himself that day....and so did I!
From thence I promised to do all I can to give him a great retirement... unfortunately he passed before this was to be!

This is why I advise guys who want to toast ladies to listen to great songs of the 50s to 90s that describe feelings and affection... needless to say you will hear words and phrases that describe feelings in more ways than the unidirectional ways of today.... honestly those songs gave me confidence, unlimited words and left ladies swooning at my feet....

I want to tow this line. Men are insatiable yes but not necessarily to cheat on their spouse. Women tend to throw themselves at a man who they consider their spec even when they know the man is married. This association massages a man's ego and pumps up more testosterone.
The complexity of a woman's mind makes it a bit different. She can't explain why she's going for the man even AFTER "rational thinking". But subtilty and at first unconsciously it begins....
You see ... cheating isn't when there's physical contact.... when a man gives more attention, time, smiles and even more calls to another woman than he does to his wife... he's cheating. And of course vice versa.... only that 95% women will deny and delude themselves that they're not cheating...to a man, he will most likely admit!

one beautiful morning I waked up with a smiling face for waking up to see the new day despite of the bad economy and bad government we have in the country. as I was planning to open my door to go outside and check my washed clothes. I opened the door and find her standing on my door, I shouted Ah! I was surprised to see her I asked her how come did she know the exact house and building I was living, she smiled and said she knew my house, she also said she was even planning to knock on my door before I opened the door.
