odun51587:Aleku is the spirit of the ancestors. It's represented by a masquerade that appears at funerals or sometimes at some special festival. It speaks in deep parables and sayings which is translated by a man close to the masquerade. The voice is altered by putting some stuff in his mouth...so only the interpreter really hears and understand... In the times past, foreigners and women are forbidden from seeing Alekwu, but nowadays the culture isn't so tight... During burials as soon as the Alekwu is approaching all females are locked in...until the body is lowered to Earth. Hope you now have a bit of knowledge... Cheers |
Oyine, you didn't add these: 1) When you whistle at night EKINIBI will visit you and dance at your doorstep. 2) When you sweep at night you sweep away your fortune 3) When you thread needle at night you're inviting evil to yourself 4) Splitting salt on the table even accidentally is bringing bad luck to your family. It's all BS but we believed it as kids. |
Fountainofyouth:Choooiiii....you were possessively pampered! I can just feel his breathing on my neck!! |

Many years ago, I was dating my now wife, yet a lady kept hitting on me with the excuse of coming for tutoring. Well, one night she came saying she needed help with her assignments. Imagine at 8pm! Well, I obliged and we quickly finished the assignment. Oooohh, she's so tired, she's going to lie on my bed for a while. 30 minutes turned to 1 hour. Are you not going home? Oh...it's too dark to go now Hmmmmmm...my buzzer began to warn me. I let her sleep. Midnight she roused and asked if I wasn't coming to bed. I told her I'll sleep on the floor. She tried again and same response. Well by morning she met me at the desk where I was working and asked how I could have neglected her! Simply told her I've a fiancee and besides it would have been proper if I toasted her first before pawing her! She left in a storm!! She never did like me after that. |
Maybe if we watch the video to the end most of the words we're using here will be toned. I've watched the video and he didn't seem to be laughing at the situation but at the way Sanwo olu presented his speech... |

Kccheechy:Don't you know some parents value mundane things than their integrity? Since she may be sending money to them they don't care what she does! Had she been killed or maimed they would have been shouting JUSTICE FOR GIFT! GOD WILL JUDGE....etc.... that's our "modern" child upbringing....had her dad laid hands on her mom would she have existed? Anyway some parents self! |

post=94690169:The smartest words so far on this thread. You're humble and wise...you gave honor to whom honor is due, no matter how your brothers dribble, it still boils down to the fact that the "clueless, gworo chewing, Chief herds man" made it possible to ensure the River is utilized to maximize it's potential....go be a blessing to your community |
Well, thanks to God for safe delivery. Husband should retrace his steps...but!!!! NO MORE PREGNANCY OOOOOOHHH! Hospital should do something about it...I know what I'm saying o.... hmmmmm |

OP, I'm happy that at this age you're assessing yourself and weighing your options for the future. It's really good. Now here's my suggestion: carefully look for a mentor, someone who can guide you in almost all ramifications... make sure he's not a person who is more interested in using you like a servant but one who respects your instincts and prospects. Let him motivate you for a short while... during that period, try to find your passion, then follow it. It might not be smooth as i put it...but eventually it will be worth it. Best wishes. |
angelfallz:If it's a repeat offence then the cane will help. But I believe it's good to make a child understand that he's being caned to discourage the bad habit... |
angelfallz:Reason why we never admit our wrongdoing! Having confessed, the dad should have praised him for being truthful, then strongly admonished him for breaking and stealing...he will grow to be a better person |
LaIabobo:And just imagine: HIS WIFE JUST HAD A BABY now when will we learn? Your health is failing, you're over 50, no salary stable yet you dey born! Why would depression not set in? Now baby will be helpless... family in mourning and you're gone! May we grow sense by force! |

Burna440:Oooooohhh dear! Laugh wan kee me... but sorry about your cousin! |
I schooled in kaduna. I found a jacket that had those large collars. Suddenly an idea occurred to me. Dracula! Behind the hostel was a mound of abandoned concrete that looked like a grave. At night i put on the jacket, pulled the collars up and went and sat on the mound which was like 50 metres from the hostel. Soon I attracted attention... someone pointed a Torchlight at me and shouted HEY!...To make it more dramatic I swayed from side to side slowly! And immediately someone shouted NA GHOST O! No one could come closer but from the distance started screaming and throwing stones...I was in danger...so...I got up slowly like a fiend! And turned towards the huge crowd that had gathered! My people! Everyone took off in all directions! Me? I also took off into the corn farm....did a detour and took off the jacket and returned to the hostel to see crowd still wondering what they had seen! I mingled innocently with them but laughed heartily! It was 20 years later I told the truth to my close friend! We still laugh over the incidence today! Dracula.... |

The news of his slipping into coma came just before we went to bed. I'd spent the night thinking about him, wondering if he'll pull through, but alas! By morning I got the call and my heart sank! He'd passed into eternity! I met him first on the night before my wedding 18 years ago and he's always had a listening ear and his wife was there at the birth of my children till each was weaned and still today has never left our side! Saturday morning I arrived at the village at Asuafu, near Nsuta for the funeral, and as soon as I got off the vehicle, and walked into the house and saw his wife, my heart broke! She was shaking and weeping...in my heart I said oh lordy, why should Nana be hurt? My sadness increased.... I walked to see where he was laid in state...that's when a sob hit me from the sole of my feet...I let the floodgates loose! I was racked with sobs.. I couldn't control myself!! Last time I wept like this was 3 months after my dad passed away that was 20 years ago... Funny enough his children were just going about like nothing happened! Of course they were sad but knowing their respective duties they had to look strong... Then I asked myself WHY I was crying so much... well....the man loved my family as though I was his own son! He truly was a father of many of us! Farewell Opanin Abraham Yaw Frimpong. PS: I'll post more about Ashanti funeral rites in the culture section with pictures... |
I wonder where the girls in those magazines are now, and how they'll be feeling about themselves! Regret or pride? Anyway, life goes on... |
JONNYSPUTE:Very true...in fact she's the one who doesn't trust the OP. And OP has been too casual in the relationship, once complacency takes a hold, then just know one of the two is bound to take the other for a ride... If she's sincere to him, she ought to have been giving him update on the expenses she makes just to show him she is resourceful and as a sign of respect for him... unfortunately it is not so! Too many loopholes in her excuses. OP, don't just send money, unless you're ready to forgo it and her! Cheers |
Thank God for his mercies. First of all forgive them completely. God has elevated you above them. But, before you begin to attend to their needs, try to settle down with your wife. Explain to her the whole thing so that she's aware. Then very little by little following scale of preference, attend to their needs...be firm and don't keep reminding them of the past. I also suggest that none of them should live with you... Rom12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Best wishes and take care |
