Politics / Re: President Jonathan At Good Friday Service At Villa Chapel Yesterday by Jaybaba(m): 12:16am On Apr 05, 2015
Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. I did not vote for him in 2011. I criticised him on my blog. However this changed after Tunde Bakare emerged from a meeting with him and declared: the man is a sincere Nigerian who is passionate about Nigeria. Tunde Bakare however felt Jonathan had far too many sycophants around him.
I began thinking differently. I looked and I indeed began to see that GEJ was doing what the media denied. I investigated and realised there was a conspiratorial gang up from and outside Nigeria against the man. Today, he's been bullied out of office and that says a lot about power and disusing it.
GEJ put Nigeria first. He could have clamped down on the opposition legally or illegally and gotten away with it. He could have blown his performance out of proportions to silence the opposition who said he wasn't working. He could have interfered with the electoral process to rig himself in and create an atmosphere of legitimacy. They accused him of plotting to sack Jega, hand over to an ING, cancel the elections. It was all a ruse. One old man even accused him of training one thousand snipers. No one has been shot dead though.
GEJ made a lot of mistakes - he married a woman who stood by him but was not a lady. He could not rule his woman into getting the best of his politics. It cost him, it's costing Nigeria not today but in the future because a few million more votes put a dictator who squandered justice, banished the truth and enthroned wickedness has been a elected.
In spite of all evidence available to GEJ, he made that phone call. Despite being able to find favourable judges in the courts that can handle the cases up to any level and reverse his loss, he conceded defeat. GMB had lost three times. He lost once to his brother but was never gracious to accept defeat to even his own brother. GEJ, you deserve more. You are immortalized. Those who deny your heroism are envious of the peak you reached even in your fall.
God bless you Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and God bless Nigeria.

Politics / Re: Buhari Took Bank Loan To Purchase APC Nomination Form by Jaybaba(m): 11:18am On Oct 17, 2014
It is not only immoral for banks to support politics or politicians it shows how pressurized they are by these former dictators.
A Buhari presidency to start with will not work. Before that he has to win the APC candidacy. After that he will challenged yet again by his most disturbing weakness - lack of national appeal. GMB has sectional appeal with the following:
Hausa/Fulani - he is one of them, speaks mostly in Hausa on several radio stations.
Muslims - he is a staunch Islamic person with strong Sharia support that appeals to Muslims
Some poor old people - He overthrew a corrupt regime and waged a war against some of the corrupt men from Shagari's regime. These old poor people hope that if elected, he would deal with the corrupt members from 1999 to date.

This sectional appeal fails to unite Nigerians nor does it help in any way to launder the terrible history Buhari left on Nigeria's political space. History is replete with examples of selective corruption campaign against his perceived enemies. The general tried very hard to abduct Umaru Dikko that he accepted the offer of men he hates and loathes to help him. He imprisoned FELA, a judge, Tai Solarin and several others for crimes such as dissent and criticism.

GMB is unrepentant and does not try in any way to show us how he has become different. The anti corruption appeal lost its weight when he said Abacha did not steal. GMB stood beside Abacha and watched his oppressive regime humiliate Nigerians. He stood by and watched Ken Saro Wiwa die, he stood by and watched Abiola die despite fighting for his mandate. In the end, he says Abacha did not steal. It is either selective memory or clear denial of the truth that makes anyone in his right senses to say that this man is the only man that can save Nigeria.

I ask a question to these GMB fanatics who insist: only Buhari can save Nigeria - what if the general dies tonight (God forbid though) is Nigeria doomed for life?

Phones / Re: ALERT:Infinix X450 Race Bolt, is a Substandard Android Phone. by Jaybaba(m): 3:07pm On Oct 31, 2013
I bought the Infinix Buzz X260 for N15,000 and from day 1 I began regretting. The touch screen makes navigation impossible. A constant headache. The battery is a challenging head ache. The internal memory is far less than advertised. The torch is too poor. The keyboard and typing on the phone a total mess. Ringer poor.

Overall, android phones deliver good quality but this brand especially with its horrible touch screen makes me agree with the originator of this thread. Infinix is a bad brand. Failed Sagem returns, I should have known.

Will this really work? Boot, charge and last as long as the battery mentioned here does?
Plus, I have issues with this phone's touch screen. A constant headache.

Politics / Re: Objectively List The Sins Of The President by Jaybaba(m): 2:12pm On Jan 23, 2013
The retardeen has devalued the meaning of: I want to reassure all Nigerians.
He talks a lot and doesn't give a damn about a position of the constitution.
He unilaterally banned the national teams because of a poor outing at the World Cup.
Building new federal universities while most of the present universities remain inadequately staffed.
Misleading Nigerians on issues like the AU summit where he lost.
Inability to provide any realistic measure for the economy that isn't creating wealth.
Meddling with the judiciary.
Gross misconduct - renaming UNILAG unilaterally before going to the National Assembly.
Horrible budgets and worse budget implementation.
Appointing too many committees and refusal to implement committee reports.
Refusal to say amen to a prayer against corruption.
Refusal to build or correctly fix the federal refineries and end the fuel importation dependency.
Acknowledging the presence of a cabal and leaving Nigerians at their mercy.

A journal of the Jonathan's administration misrule is easy to compile. He has some credits though but this thread is on the sins of this president.
Religion / Re: Why Is Judas Iscariot's Part In Fulfilling The Prophecy Bad? Did He Deserve It? by Jaybaba(m): 7:47pm On Jun 13, 2012
Judas Iscariot played his role well. He betrayed the Lord as expected be Jesus himself. He was destined but in the ultimate analysis, man is a creature of personal choice. Man is a freewill moral agent. God did not make i-robots but rational thinking humans. God is very in support of the choices we make. Whatever those choices however, there are consequences or blessings. I give you this day life and death, choose life that it may be well with you.

Judas ultimately chose to betray the Lord. It was his destiny yes, but there might have been another way if he had chosen otherwise. He repented. He bought a field and hung himself therein. Suicide is self murder. That is the sin that sent him to hell in my reckoning for if he had truly repented and accepted the teachings of his master, then he would have had redemptive hope but he was faithless and took his destiny in his own hand.

SURE-P
What a story we are about to read
Of sudden change, lies and half truths, please read
How on a New Year’s Day our people were greeted
Not with smiles or good news but were insulted
Here insults do not go unanswered
Not in this clime or time, it had to be answered
Men and women took to the streets in protest
Peacefully the new regime to contest
They pressed painfully and hard for 9 days long
In unison, sang a protest song
Brought thence by one need
Refused to be intimidated or bullied
Were never discouraged by the fallen
No one said victory would be sudden
Did those leaders betray, were they under duress?
In the heat of the struggle, asked us to recess
But the struggle had taken a new broadness
It had gone beyond the anticipated game of chess
The cronies appearing on No Truth Available
Proved repeatedly that they weren't reliable
In the face of this chaos were many silent governors
A clueless president, too many confusing ministers and actors
Many a tale have been told
How for 30 pieces of silver some Judas sold
More empty promises were promised
A promise was promised to keep the promised
SURE-P the solution to an impoverished people
Surely this would be different my people
What purpose hath guns in a peaceful procession?
An orderly people meeting with such aggression
The mightier declared truce despite the injustice
An anti-climax to an episode of jungle justice
A few weeks later, it is the same story we are about to read
Sudden change, lies and half truths, those we now read

Politics / Re: Goodluck Jonathan: Nigeria's Embattled President (cnn Special) by Jaybaba(m): 11:01am On Jan 25, 2012
Majority of Nigerians now agree that electing Goodluck Jonathan was a mistake. The recent protests brought about by his poorly thought subsidy removal proves just how sad they are. But should mistakes be without reasonable remedy? I fail to see why Nigerians should let an incompetent regime remain four full years in the guise of patience.

I propose a system where after two years, a referendum on any regime be held by an Electoral College. They will decide whether or not a govt should remain or continue. And where they say return, they will also proceed to electing another cabinet to finish the tenure.

Politics / Re: OPC's Anti-Boko Haram Protest Are Unnecessary – Northern Youths by Jaybaba(m): 6:24pm On Dec 12, 2011
I do not think the OPC armed protest in Lagos is reason to start ethnic segmentation or quarrel here on Nairaland.
The OPC do not have right to bear arms and do not have right to threaten another ethnic group resulting in the ACF leader - Shetima Yerima getting more phone calls than MTN Customer Care. Boko Haram also is a lawless organisation that has claimed more lives than reporter.

Our FG's inability to bring their sponsors to book is the main problem we should discuss but not look to threaten law abiding citizens of other ethnic groups because a kin of theirs is acting extremely elsewhere. I hope we are not encouraging militia groups in a so called civilized state?
Boko Haram NO. OPC NO. MASSOB NO. BAKASSI BOYS NO. MEND NO.

Sports / Re: Yobo Bags National Merit Award by Jaybaba(m): 5:55pm On Dec 12, 2011
Yobo has been more committed than the word committed can possibly define. He turns up for away games and goes ahead to score.
Kanu and Okocha were all away games shy. Yobo always showed up. He deserved the award before the Super Eagles failed to qualify. He has topped the record set by Muda Lawal and Kanu (most caps).

Fans at the National Stadium in Lagos did not make mistake in prefixing Snr to his name hence his SnrYobo like he was a senior in Secondary School.
Computers / Re: What To Expect In Windows 8 by Jaybaba(m): 5:21pm On Dec 05, 2011
After installing one, I was pretty confused about the os. It has taken me close to a week and I'm still undecided about what to do with it. I have it on dual boot with a perfectly sound Windows 7. It boots into Win8 first, then I choose Windows 7 and pc restarts. I haven't found time to tear it apart or study it online anywhere. Might be good eventually but I feel it will be a better OS for me in the sense that I will get more calls from end users. Looks difficult to use.
Sports / Re: Yakubu Scores Four In Blackburn Win by Jaybaba(m): 4:36pm On Dec 05, 2011
Yakubu's statistics from Okomu oil, to all his European teams speak plain facts: I can score goals.
We are mostly ignorant about his Super Eagles performance also. He is the nation's second all time goal scorer after Yekini *39goals* with 21 goals. The other players are still in 15 and 16. What about his assists rate? He is a team player per excellence. His miss at the WC is a notable blunder and I think it's unfair to regard him in that light i.e. a player who misses more than he scores.

However, calling him back to the SUPER EAGLES would be admission of a lack of talent or a lack of faith in the young players. If Keshi should call him back today, it should be to provide guidance and leadership which I think Yobo is doing already. Yakubu is good but he is through with the Super Eagles.
Sports / Re: Give Austin Eguaveon Another Chance, He Will Surprise Nigeria' - Tb Joshua by Jaybaba(m): 4:30pm On Dec 05, 2011
It should not be a TB Joshua issue. Some of us in the know, are aware that Austin Eguavoen is a good man and a competent coach. It is unfortunate that his team failed to do well in this tournament. He has duly resigned. I preferred for him to continue the job before Siasia was given the charge but to show his patriotism or the fact that he wants to remain in the national setting made him take the Olympic Eagles job. TB Joshua has given his own take on the matter and I agree, give Eguavoen a second chance in the near future NFF.
Sports / Re: Osaze Odemwingie Lashes Out At Siasia On Twitter by Jaybaba(m): 7:31pm On Mar 31, 2011
Some very vocal people require even more careful management.
The lad is managing an injury and should not have been required to play the friendly.
The young man has demonstrated time without number that he is COMMITTED to the Super Eagles.
Siasia might have issues and we must not fail to also take note of that whilst condemning a player for going public about his private disagreement with his manager.
Politics / Re: Yar’adua: Resign Now, Northern Reps Tell Akunyili by Jaybaba(m): 7:51pm On Mar 04, 2010
Another group rises against us
calling themselves the northern caucus
from their hearts grows nothing but cactus
ignoble men wishing to make further mock of us

What these men don't know
that woman speaks that they might know
Nigeria is not a one man or one group show
Northern caucus you'll reap what you sow

They have spoken from their depravity
she speaks for all, for the majority
on comparison, we see their dis-nobility
Oh what a shame, what a pity

The above poem is my assessment of the Northern Caucus.
Their position on the issue is a pitiful and pathetic one. A woman of integrity speaks the mind of the nation and they dare differ from the majority, I believe they are not honourable men in every sense of the word.

Sports / Re: Amodu Blasts Kanu by Jaybaba(m): 4:59pm On Sep 11, 2009
Amodu you need to be careful not to hurt Nigerians further!
The coach in a football game decides who starts, what game plan is played out (tactics  i.e how do we defend, how do we create chances and how do we score goals?). For him to single out Kanu and Uche and the players for blame is admission of incompetence and buck passing.

The NFF cannot fire him because they employed him when everyone was against it. Now they are trying to justify their faulty decision by letting him stay on.

Nigeria is a failing state. Nothing is working. Football used to be our only happiness but even that now has failed. Two world cups without Nigeria is so painful to bear. Somebody has to take blame and Amodu should take that blame. The NFF should also take some of that blame. So also should the players. I do not think they were hungry for world cup action.

God save Nigeria!
Politics / Re: What In Your View Is The Immediate Problem The Federal and State Governments Should Tackle First? by Jaybaba(m): 4:01pm On Aug 13, 2009
I agree with Mowire.
Corruption in itself is not an issue. It is an effect of so many other causes.
The principle of cause and effect is not very hard to understand.

Scenario: ears of corn on a farm
Cause- a seed of corn was put into the ground by man or other force of nature
Cause - sunshine, pollination, water, photosynthesis, etc all work on that seed to germinate and nurture it
Effect- seed grows and produces corn stalk, corn stalk produces corn cob.

So it is with corruption, It has several root causes and we cannot deal with it conclusively nor eliminate it absolutely
no matter how hard we try.
One of the causes of corruption is POVERTY. Other causes exist. But that is a major cause and to get that bearable we need

Infrastructure - Electricity, roads, railway etc
Those in turn will generate Employment.

Nothing will put man permanently in utopia till He comes. But we can get things to a better level.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Best Free Kick Taker In The World? by Jaybaba(m): 7:38pm On Jan 28, 2009
Juninho, has scored more free kicks compared to Beckham.
But one way to look at this issue is from the era perspective.
Beckham still plays but would not be given a chance in a team with Pirlo and Ronaldinho.
Juninho has scored a hat trick from 3 freekicks.
For me my list would be
Juninho
Rivaldo
Zidane
Van Heydunk
Pirlo
Beckham
Okocha
Sports / Re: Nigeria(0) Vs Cameroon(2) On Wednesday 28th January(AYC Semifinal) by Jaybaba(m): 7:05pm On Jan 28, 2009
I never saw the victory Nigerians expected.
The team lacked bite and technical direction from day one of this AYC 09.
Bosso is not good enough for a national team position.
I hoped Nigeria would win but it turned out otherwise.
We must base our optimism on solid realities and not just cause we are Nigerians.
Sports / Re: Nigeria(0) Vs Cameroon(2) On Wednesday 28th January(AYC Semifinal) by Jaybaba(m): 7:06pm On Jan 27, 2009
Nigerians, hopeless optimism and reckless patriotism.
There's no basis for believing Flying Eagles would win. The team lacks direction and bite. There is little technical input. However, there is talent in that team. I have not seen the Camerounians but from their precedence I can expect a difficult fixture for Nigeria and likely a loss. It will take luck for Nigeria to win.
Computers / Re: Visafone Internet Configuration! Help by Jaybaba(m): 6:52pm On Jan 22, 2009
@ MeLuv, who told you cafes buy bandwidth for N15,000 per month.
Only Dial up connections are within that range.
Bandwidths are charged based on up/download bits per second and the rates differ from one isp to another.

This your plan is unpractical, will not work and is absolutely nothing but a scam.
Such knowledge should be kept to yourself if you truly have it.
It is criminal for you to teach people who to rob internet access.
This is a public forum where positive knowledge should be shared not how to browse without paying.

Our network providers are all involved in one tariff scam or the other.
Visafone recently increased tariffs without notice. The worst part is, they charge even higher than the tariffs.
What can be done about it?
Zain introduced Tru and did not reveal all the tariff implications to unsuspecting subscribers.
What can be done about it?
MTN and Glo all have tariff problems and no one seems to be saying anything about charging Nigerians excessively for poor services.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: £100 Million Bid For Kaka: Does This Make Football And Business Sense? by Jaybaba(m): 2:49pm On Jan 16, 2009
Football is and has always been a team sport.
For a team like Man City to offer over 100milion for 1 player show they are doing something other than football business.
They want attention and Kaka is big enough to provide it.
There is nothing wrong with just bidding say a billion of any currency for anything including a used pair of boots
but there is a lot wrong with bidding that amount for just one football player who is a human being.

This is not good for football. It wont be good for the team. It would put that player on a difficult path, perform and deserve the tag.
Football is being challenged, football is a team game, coaches, medical people, ball boys, players and administrators all play a role
Deciding to sign just one player for the amount in quote here suggests, it has become Golf or boxing, in other words, the coach,
other members of the squad are all not going to have to do anything else cause this superhuman Kaka is coming.

Rebuild City of Manchester Stadium to say 80,000 and they'll make the money back in 3 seasons but what about the risks. Kaka could
flop in the EPL, get a life threatening injury, be hated by team mates, etc.

Hughes should realise that football is a team game where coaches choose players from a pool, choose a style and approach, practice it
and perfect it. They become a team with time and win titles. With additional boosts from other teams they are strengthened but what Hughes
and City are about to do is assemble a squad and expect immediate results. It works sometimes but flops most of the time.

My verdict: It is profitable from a business point of view despite the risks. It is bad from a football point of view, it emphasizes 1 player above
a football team of 11 players and a renowned football coach said "no player is bigger than any team"
Business / Consumer Rights In Nigeria by Jaybaba(m): 8:15pm On Jan 15, 2009
The Nigerian business environment is filled with so many corrupt and care free capitalists who care only about profit maximisation and pay very little attention to customer satisfaction. Nearly every sector and industry tries to rip its customer of its hard earned money.
What is the way forward?
Are there consumer protection agencies in Nigeria
Are consumer protection agencies in Nigeria working
Do Nigerians know how to get redress or get their problems solved
Business is all about consumer satisfaction, without this there is no continuity of business.
It appears Nigerians are mostly carefree or have been frustrated to taking things the way they see them
Politics / Re: Nigeria: A Country Going In Circles ! by Jaybaba(m): 5:47pm On Dec 22, 2008
I have thought long and hard for many years about the problem of Nigeria and came to the conclusion that most of the problems people believe are not really the real problems but offshoots of the fundamental problem. I have written a thesis:

Enduring structures have always been built on dependable supports and foundations. No one ever bult a castle on the air, no matter the height of his advanced technology, it would crumble.
Our state, Nigeria is an example of a huge castle standing so far on nothing but the will of a few benefitting from her wealth.
The sooner our people realise, there is no building without supporting structure or foundations and pillars, the better for the majority of Nigerians.
Intangible concepts like states (Nigeria) are founded upon structures known as principles. Principles require a sound belief in and a diligent application of by all to succeed.
Accounts will never balance if double entry principle is never applied or followed, so it is with any other concept or entity, it requires some sound principles.
The United States are founded on a very simple yet solid structure and foundation that continues to inspire men worldwide:
"We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal and that they are bestowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that amongst these are: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And that to protect these rights governments are instituted amongst men with the consent of the governed."
All enduring states have been founded upon similar support structures or values. Unfortunately ours have none.
Our founding fathers were in a hurry to obtain "control" which they mistook for independence and they obtained control of the country to no end. That control of resources and people is still in the hands of a few and not Nigerians (we are no free people).
When something goes wrong, those with the ability to act, have the responsibility to act. Our acting now is to with one voice tell our captors "NOT AGAIN"
Our anthem or the national anthem forsaw this when it asked us to arise to the call of our fatherland, to build it (serve) and we cannot build in on nothing but on principles we all must believe in like Americans believe in their declaration of independence. We must build our fatherland on equality of all, justice for all, freedom and liberty for all and protecting these rights through our collective will expressed though the ballot.

Until we get the above done, we will continue to be a country going in circles , recycling politicians who have nothing to do but please their patrons.
