WhoBeThisMan: So the government didn't withdraw the money, they only borrowed it to the federal governt by buying t-bills and bonds. All the same the government collected it and used it for recurrent expenditure. is it not thesame thing Enice: most nigerians lack analytical reasoning. bonds and treasury bills are a means of borrowing by the FG. Now, what was the borrowed funds used for? To pay salaries and not develop infrastructures. Oshiomole is right. eakenbor: You losers criticizing Oshiobaba don't get it. 3.5trn of pension funds was invested by buying treasuring bills and Jonathan diverted the money for recurrent expenditure. What that means is that the FG, as at today, owns the pension scheme 3.5trn. What if the government is unable to pay back in the future, won't that lead to insolvency of the scheme? Please you guys should think with your head.
Meanwhile, I found out that ever since Oshiobaba got married to Iara, all the enemies of progress nor let am rest. Them say he marry the woman of their dreams. It's a free world. Make your money and snatch her from him instead of jumping at him at every opportunity on Nairaland. retsonbiz: NIGERIANS ARE DUMB.....The Treasury Bills and Government Bonds that Government Sold to the Pension Funds Managers....What did the Government do with the Money?
Oshiomhole is Right.....Most of the People on this Trends are Dumb. @retsonbiz, @eakenbor, @Enice @WhoBeThisMan Thank you for saving me from the irrational and irate nairalanders on this thread. its a big disgrace, how low nigerians are, on serious national issues. what is wrong that Nigerians are so low and careless in thought and speech. No wonder we are taking for a ride by just any bunch of opportunists in power. Once again the Bible asserts its authority "MY PEOPLE ARE DESTROYED FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE" - Hosea 4:6 If Nigeria must survive, then we have to change our attitude, seek knowledge, and be objective in our dealings with each other. |

This makes us who know what is going on and yet keeping mute to be willing accomplices to the evil which is going on unabated. what is the madness in saying the obvious? |

chimere66: Anambra state governor Chief Willie Obiano yesterday donated gun-boats to the Nigerian Naval Outpost in Onitsha. He also donated 15 speed boats and seven water ambulances to ease life in the riverine communities in Anambra State.
Speaking while donating the speedboats,Chief Willie Obiano said the gesture is geared towards facilitating movement across the water channels in the state and also link the riverine communities to their kit and kin on the mainland. He was cheered by the jubilant crowd that gathered at Okoti Odekpe in Ogbaru Council Area to witness donation.

myworldtech: You don't understand what is going now.Fulanis have the president at their backs. If you touch them the next minute the whole village will be swarming with soldiers. Aareonakakanfo: OLEH — Three persons have been killed and two others injured in renewed hostilities between Fulani herdsmen and residents of Okuke, a satellite village at Amorji in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The people of the community, it was gathered, had been at loggerheads with the herdsmen who they accused of destroying their farmlands and terrorizing them over the last three years.
An indigene of the community told newsmen that the herdsmen had threatened to chase the residents out of Okuke, a development which, he said, prompted Amorji to constitute a 15-man delegation to meet with them (the herdsmen) for a peace talk.
The community indigene, who craved anonymity, said the delegation was on the way for the peace talk when they were ambushed by herdsmen, who he alleged opened fire at them, killing three and inflicting gunshot injuries on two others.
He said one person was still missing and that those injured were receiving treatment at a hospital in Kwale, headquarters of the Ndokwa West Local Government Area, while the bodies of the deceased had been deposited in the mortuary.
He lamented that indigenes of the community could no longer go to their farms or markets in neighbouring communities for fear of being ambushed and attacked by the armed herdsmen.
Police statement
Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Celestina Kalu, confirmed the killings and said the incident was a suspected reprisal attack.
She disclosed that a Fulani herdsman had earlier been reported killed in the community in the last one week.
Kalu said: “After some days, some of the villagers went to the police to complain that three of their indigenes were missing. A search party was raised and the bodies of three persons were found.” Kalu said the command was trying to curtail the situation, and that efforts were on to bring the feuding parties together

Education › Re: Katsina Orders Withdrawal Of Children From Private Schools by jaybee(f): 11:34am On Aug 27, 2015 |
Yhunoos: The Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has directed primary school teachers and all head teachers in the state to withdraw their children from private schools for enrolment in public schools.
Chairman of the SUBEB, Lawal Buhari Daura gave the directive on Wednesday, when he led management of the Board on an inspection tour of Local Education Authority (LEA) in Kankia.
Daura said the directive was in line with an earlier order issue by the Governor, Aminu Bello Masari that public officers under his administration must patronise public schools.
He insisted that the directive was part of efforts to revive the education sector, but was silent on whether or not penalties awaited defaulters.
Our correspondent reports that findings indicate that most of the primary school teachers in public schools do not patronise public schools as they enrol their children and wards in private schools, an action which suggests that they have no confidence in the public schools.

A person arraigned since June 2012 on fraud charges related to his office and the case is still pending today, how can justice be gotten from the courts? Its either the man is guilty or not. The judges seems to be more corrupt than the accused, the accuser and the witness. |

Martins301: If you missed the thread put up by Goldenheart on 8 things you must do before passing out from NYSC, you can read it HERE.
This thread is to highlight the skills you must learn, whether male or female, before you pass out from NYSC. Learning at least 2 of them will equip you for the hard life most ex-corpers are facing outside. Learn more than 5 of them and you won't think of searching for a job.
1. Computer/Internet I just can't overemphasize this one. We are in 2015 not 1990. If you can't use a computer by now and you pass out from NYSC without learning the skill you are on a long thing. For your information, most companies are going digital and CVs are no longer written by hand. To build an online profile or even open an email, you need to know how to use a computer and the internet. Imagine some corpers will know how to chat on whatsapp but can't download the app through the internet. Some know how to use BBM, 2GO, WHATSAPP just name it but they don't know how use OPERAMINI to browse, search for information or carry out other important internet based activities that will enhance the career. Well, a word is enough for the wise. 2. Agriculture Just choose any specific area whether rearing of animals or planting of crops and learn the in and out of it. You will have ample time to practice on a small scale especially if you are serving in a rural area. Who knows, agriculture may give you your first 1 million naira/dollar instead of one fairytale white coller job. The wise ones will understand. If you need ideas please run to Agriculture section of Nairaland. You will never regret doing so.
3. Driving Many job opportunities have passed me by because I don't know how to drive. I wish I knew earlier, I would have learnt while I was serving. Now wey things don hard for me, how I go take learn am come be problem cos I can't afford a driving school. Thats my story, do you want your story to be a similar one? Make the right choice now. Learn to drive. Save something out of that tiny allowance and use it to learn. You won't regret doing so. 4. Barbing Having this skill can fetch you some income while you await that big job that will change your story so please don't let it go.
5. Make Up Ladies you suppose know na. Trust me, you can buy a hummer jeep if you learn this skill very well. Who no dey make up for Naija? Even Baba Buhari still dey make up. Imagine the money that lady is making. Go buy make up kit begin practice sharp sharp. Before one year you go don turn expert.
6. Shoe/Bag/Bead Making Thank God we are no longer in the days of Baba Jonathan when people wore no shoes. As long as people wear shoes, carry bags and adorn themselves with beads, your services will always be needed. Do I need to expantiate more?
7. Cooking/Baking/Frying This is the best opportunity to sharpen your curlinary skills. Go online and find out how to prepare any meal. Prepare small dishes that your alawee can carry and improve on yourself. Do you think people will start using moulded Eba to celebrate social events like marriages, birthdays, etc? Cakes! Cakes! Cakes! = Naira! Naira! Naira!
8. Public Speaking Well if you have all these skill and you don't know how to sell it, thats a big problem on its own. I therefore encourage you to learn to interact well with people so as to sell or market yourself.
I hope you will utilize this information to your advantage. Experience is a good teacher, just pray not to be on the wrong side of the learning curve. Thanks.

Politics › Re: Emmanuel Ibe-Kachikwu Is New NNPC GMD - Sahara Reporters by jaybee(f): 3:38pm On Aug 04, 2015 |
laudate: What NNPC needs at this time is a seasoned petroleum engineer with commercial aptitude, that can think outside the box.
All other contemporaries of NNPC like PedeVesa of Venezuela, PetroBrass of Brazil, Q8 of Kuwait, Statoil of Norway, Saudi Aramco, Sinopec of China, etc, have all added value to their countries, by actively buying out oil-related assets around the globe to increase the foreign exchange earning capability of their companies/countries, increasing local refining capacity on their home turf while remaining good examples of well-run commercial enterprises.
Such an engineer should drive the establishment of modular refineries to increase refining capacity at home, while pushing for the successful rehabilitation of existing ones using local expertise, as was done recently. Such an engineer should also place premium on the exploitation and commercialisation of our gas reserves in country, to drive the Gas-To-Power Programme and other such programmes.
Would a corporate lawyer be able to balance all these? I strongly doubt if Kachikwu has expertise in this area. Let someone excuse me here! YOUR SHALLOW POST BETRAYS YOUR IGNORANCE OF WHAT NNPC NEED AT THIS TIME. MAY BE YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT NNPC IS, IN THE FIRST PLACE. NNPC IS NOT AN OIL PRODUCING COMPANY WHICH REQUIRES A PETROLEUM OR TO BE MORE SPECIFIC, A RESERVOIR ENGINEER TO MANAGE A DAMAGED COMPLEX AND DEPLETED RESERVOIR USING ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY TECHNIQUES WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF INCREASING ULTIMATE RECOVERY AND OPTIMIZE PRODUCTION VOLUMES. THAT IS THE TASK OF OPERATING COMPANIES LIKE NPDC, SHELL, TOTAL, EXXONMOBIL, CONOIL, CHEVRON, SEPLAT, LEKOIL AND MANY OTHERS. FURTHERMORE NNPC IS NOT A REFINERY WHOSE BUSINESS IS TO REFINE CRUDE OIL FOR SALE. THAT IS THE WORK OF WARRI REINERY AND PETROCEMICAL COMPANY (WRPC), KADUNA REINERY AND PETROCEMICAL COMPANY (KRPC), PORTHARCOURT REFINERY, ETC. ALSO NNPC IS NOT A GAS COMPANY. WE HAVE THE NIGERIA GAS COMPANY (NGC), GASLINK ETC. FROM THE SKETCHY PROFILE OF THE NEW GMD, HE IS SIMPLY A ROUND PEG IN A ROUND HOLE. I MEAN A PERFECT APPOINTEE WHO HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO LEAD NNPC IN ITS TRANSITION TO A VIABLE ENTITY FIT TO PLAY A CENTRAL ROLE IN THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY. MOST PROBLEMS OF NNPC ARE THOSE OF ADMINISTRATION, DISREGARD FOR EXTANT LAWS, CRIMINAL CONTRACTING, OPAQUE SYSTEM RESULTING TO OUTRIGHT THEFT OF GOVERNMENT REVENUES. THESE ARE FAR DISCONNECTED FROM OPERATIONAL OR ENGINEERING CHALLENGES. |
