Descartes: If all members of PDP who have been destroying Nigeria and impoverishing the people all moved to APC the supposed "change" as you called it; then what will become of Nigeria if it eventually gets to the (centre)Aso Rock? don't be so naive please. APC is a political container. Any person from any quarters may come in and once inside it, the must take up the shape of the container. So don't fear that these decampees from PDP will corrupt APC to the extent you may be thinking. |

calebo101: Obasanjo is a pained man. He has lost everything and there's nothing left for him to hold on to if not to find a backdoor into the power house again. It's not unusual for old men to crave and cling on to power, especially African leaders, (Biya, Ghadaffi, Mugabe, et al). Obasanjo desperately needs power and that is his game plan.
I can understand Jonathan has completely frustrated him by making him entirely irrelevant in PDP and weeded all his allies away and that is seriously affecting Obasanjo. "He whom the gods want to destroy, they first make him mad".
A normal old Ex-leader should be a statesman and act as an advisory agent to the present leaders but Obasanjo can not do that because in the first place he has no Family to turn to. He is estranged with his children already after sleeping with his son's wife and the public disgrace meted out to him by his daughter.
To add insult to injury, the "clueless" one has taught him a very important lesson at his old age. Jonathan has checkmated him using Kashamu Buruji to limit his influence on South-West PDP, (talk of dog fighting dog). And his old nemesis, Tony Anenih is Jonathan's henchman. Jonathan has taken ALL from him and completely dismantled his structures. No political power anymore, and more painful no family to soothe him.
When Jonathan wins the election (it would hold and he will win!!!), he would have successfully pulled out the greatest coup and the real change in Nigeria's political history. The "clueless" one has stepped on lot of toes, looked at them eyeball to eyeball and dared them. Little wonder why the whole world is against him.
On March 28 a new dawn will emerge in Nigeria's history. The final departure from the scene of the old men that has refused to let Nigeria be, with Obasanjo and Buhari leading the failed packs.
APC can keep shouting change all they want and they can keep accusing PDP for 16 wasted years but the facts are barefaced, 80% or more of the erstwhile PDP members that destroyed Nigeria for years are now in the APC. The real change is Jonathan, the "clueless" one.

Politics › Re: Interim National Government: One Propaganda Too Many (barcanista) by jaybee(f): 11:42pm On Feb 16, 2015 |
barcanista: It is no news that some media and personalities have been reporting of a "planned" installation of an Interim National Government by President Goodluck Jonathan. Sahara Reporters, Obasanjo and other "sources" are few people to be propagating this "revelation".
We were told that the Jonathan's administration has no plan to conduct the election and it planned to create a chaos for the Army led by General Kenneth Minimah to takeover the reins of power because they will rather not witness a Buhari government.
Later we were told that the President plans to perpetually remain in power by getting the NASS postpone the election for six months with the pretence of the crises in the North - East. The plan is to invoke Section 135(3) of the Constitution according to this theory.
Just of recent we were told by Sahara Reporters that their "Source" told them that Jonathan approached exHead of State General Abdulsalam Abubakar and "begged" him to head the supposed ING. The plan according to this source is to prevent Muhammadu Buhari from gaining victory at the poll. According to SR, the Jonathan government is to bribe NASS members with $2m and $1m each for Senate and Reps members respectively. The plan here is for them to invoke Section 135(3) of the Constitution and declare the ING.
Aside from the fact that all theories appear disjointed and does not portray in anyway as to how Jonathan will benefit from the schemes, it also begs for the question of what is the possibility?
Firstly, Jonathan had told the US Secretary of State Mr John Kerry that the election will be held and a New Government inaugurated come May 29. President Jonathan repeated the statement in his media chat. So far, there has been no clue as to whether he plans to remain indefinitely. He also debunked the story of handing over to the Military or any illegal government
Secondly, the talk of Interim National Government is alien to our constitution. There is no way that can happen when we have no constitutional crises. There is no way Abdulsalam or Minimah can assume power except there is a coup. If there is any, then there will be a counter coup. Assuming Jonathan even considers bribing the NASS to get the six(6) months extension, he doesn't need an Abdulsalam or an ING to lead during the extension period. Section 135(3) of the Constitution is very clear that the incumbent preside over the country for the period of any extension. Considering that the opposition controls the House, the ruling party have the Senate, except there is a compromise, that will not scale through.
Thirdly, if the President is to exploit the Military. it will be to give PDP undue advantage at the poll by harassing the opposition on the day of election, and not to handover power to any Gen Minimah or a phantom ING that isn't feasible anywhere.
This talk of an ING is baseless, a distraction, a tool to heat up the already saturated polity. It is one propaganda too many. It is a threat to peace and our collective unity. I have absolute confidence that the election will be held and winner will be inaugurated come May 29. @ OP i actually expected a more objective treatise, not this highly subjective and incoherent insinuations and emphatic assertions. Let us examine some of your itemized points as i have highlighted in your submission; Firstly, your reliance on the "accused" to verify the authenticity or otherwise of the "propaganda" is illogical. How would you expect president Jonathan to tell John Kerry of the media chat that he planned to hand over to keneth minimah or Adbulsalam or ING? it is on record that this president and his government always deny everything including the abduction of chibock girls, extension of election dates until the same thing they kept denying until it came to pass just as it was announced by the very press you are trying to vilify. Secondly, the reports do not say that we are in a constitutional crises yet. Be it known to you that constitutional crises do not come about by default. some people, by their actions and inactions bring about constitutional crises. this is normally done by people in authority tempering with the functions of statutory institutions such as INEC, the security agencies and the media. this are manifestly clear today in Nigeria under president Goodluck Jonathan. so for you to say that it is not possible makes you highly myopic and does not make sense because in Nigeria today manythings thought impossible have been proven highly possible. if you may remember a few years ago the government and people of Nigeria would say it is impossible to have terrorists of Nigeria origin. Even when USA wanted to classify Boko haram as a terrorist group, this very government of Jonathan resisted it vehemently that it is not a terrorist group. However we know today that those theories are false. Thirdly, you have admitted that the president has the propensity to use the Military to obtain undue advantage for his himself and his party. Now you have contradicted yourself. if you know any history at all, then you should know that that is a sure recipe for myriad of crises, from outright local resistance, coordinated civil disobedience, legal actions, the question of government legitimacy, religious, ethnic, regional and sectional crises etc. this possible chaos, which can be triggered by the acts of commission or omission of president Goodluck Jonathan which, by his body language and his close associates. If you had critically analyzed the situation dispassionately, you would have seen that the various postulations in the media are not totally unfounded because they have a chance of happening, no matter how remote, given the history of politicians and their co-travelers. so for you to categorically call these possible postulations as distracting propaganda theories, I repeat, is hasty and short-sighted. |

helphelp: Afrobeat star and Late Fela's son, Seun Kuti has explained why he would not vote this year. He also opened up on the only condition under which he would forgive Buhari for locking his father up. He told the Nation.
You recently came out and said you were misrepresented in some quarters of the media concerning the major presidential candidates. What are your views about the coming elections? Are you going to vote? Do you have your PVC?
No, I don’t have my PVC because I decided already long time ago, even before the candidates were chosen, that the election is the politician’s elections still. I’m not going to vote. And I’ve been proven correct. I’m happy that so many people in Nigeria today want to be involved in the democraticprocess of this country. It is a big development in our democratic development. And so many people want to also cast protest votes this year protest against how the country has been run by the present administration and I understand. And I support it as well. But the truth about it is that I believe that I am very politically mature. And for me to cast my vote, whoever I vote for has to represent my aspirations. I won’t just cast a protest vote in as much as a protest vote is needed in this forthcoming election. The candidate that is brought forward as well is someone that I believe is not in the good books of the Kuti family. And my family, we’re very united in our views about civic responsibility and human rights. And retired General Buhari has trampled on the rights of my family when he jailed my father, illegally for that matter. And Fela was innocent. This is why it would be difficult for me to say I want to vote for Buhari. Maybe if Buhari wins and becomes president, then I can forgive him if he begins to do to Nigerians what Fela would have liked for Nigerians because maybe if Buhari becomes president and he suddenly becomes pro-people, developing Nigeria from the ground-up, things that I know would have made my father happy, and he is bring Nigeria up yeah. Definitely, I would understand that even if Fela were alive and Fela sees Nigeria going forward like this, he would speak in favour of the man. But so far, I can’t betray my father based on some promises and some words. So, that is why I’m not voting for him.
http://thenationonlineng.net/new/seun-kuti- buhari-wins-pro-people-might-forgive/ I think Seun Kuti is being prophetic here. first he affirmed Nigerians are not happy with the current corrupt and incurably ineffective government of gej. because of that they will cast protest votes against gej to vote him out irrespective of the other contenders; in this case, GMB. that GMB the is next president come 29/05. that just like his father Fela would do, he is bound to support GMB (just like any other president) if GMB proves to be a pro people president that connect to people and meet their socio-economic aspirations. personally, even though i'm a completely pro-Buhari pre-election, i align with Seun on this one; whether I will support him post-swearing-in depends on his ability to change the country from the current unwanted path of disintegration and doom and place her on the deserved road to unity, freedom, development, progress and prosperity. |

viczing: Like actions in Hollywood blockbusters, gunmen, which number could not be easily ascertained, on Friday morning raided a printing press in Shomolu area of Lagos State, carting away copies of a book on the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen harassed the printers and took away copies of the book, entitled Two-Faced Jonathan: 100 Reasons Why Jonathan Must Go, authored by Blessing Agbomhere.
Workers in the printing press who were too frightened, could not ask questions or confront the gun-wielding men suspected to be security operatives.
Speaking to journalists on the development, Agbomhere said the book was scheduled for launch at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Lagos, before the incident.
Agbomhere, who is also the initiator of Change Ambassador of Nigeria (CAN), said, “This book was being printed in Shomolu and I was told that the book that was to be launched today (Saturday) was taken away after someone within the printing press, who has sympathy for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alerted security operatives about it.
“They came and confiscated all the printed copies of the book. They came in mufti.
“We don’t know the arm of security agency that they belong to, or whether they are private individuals or not.
“The printers had to immediately release the books to them, because, they were heavily armed. I am not owing them. I have already paid them.”
Agbomhere added that the book mirrors Jonathan as a “President of the cabal, Tompolo, Asari-Dokubo and a few other corrupt elements, who are sponsoring Boko Haram to destroy Nigeria’s unity.
“The book says President Jonathan has failed to defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as such should not seek re-election or ask for a job he know he doesn’t have the capacity to do,” he said.
The author dared Jonathan to act on the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) forensic audit report and bring those indicted by the report to book.
Also speaking, Ibilola Essien, a social entrepreneur with Act Now Nigeria, a non-governmental organisation, said the present administration has not done enough to salvage the country from the many problems besieging it.
According to her, poverty and corruption have continued to soar, while insecurity in the North East has claimed over 15,000 lives since 2009.
http://dailyindependentnig.com/2015/02/gunmen-storm-lagos-press-confiscate-book-jonathan/ Abeg let her release the e-book online. we need to read the book to further consolidate our position against a treacherous and insensitive government that wants to perpetuate itself in power using ethnicity, religion and docility of Nigerians. the book may be useful to salvage some die hard ignoramuses who have almost sold their souls to this clueless and dangerous government. . |
