Dittodat: I love red snapperfish. It's one of my favorite types of sih to eat any day anytime. This one is not the real Red Snapper, though, this one is also from the Red Snapper family but not the real thing. The real ones are usually from the Gulf Coast of Florida and the Caribbean. They tend to be more reddish in color.
This looks more like Mangrove Snapper fish. True. It’s one of the snapper specie, not a red snapper. I went fishing on one of the piers at Bahia Honda Key close to Key West in Florida last year and we caught lots of red snappers and Mahi- Mahi fishes there. |

pharmagba: Permit me to educate you. Banning black market forex does not mean taking the bereau de change out of business. What it means is digitalizing their operations. Instead of going to the street corner to change, the bereau de change operators will have a digital platform online where you transfer your niara and instant convert to foreign currency of your choice . No more handling physical foreign currency. There will be no need for hoarding How will that stop hoarding? If I approach a BDC operator and he tells me that his internet connection doesn’t work, but that he has physical dollars to sell and I desperately need it, wouldn’t I buy it? And let me also assume that he decides to conduct the transaction online, again how does that stop the spike in exchange rate? Do you think Nigerians are fools? What is happening to dollar is a simple economic principle: it is bowing to market forces. Demand is greater than supply. So it’s not a question of trading online or in cash. A sensible government would be giving loans to agro business ventures. Export oriented economy will pull in foreign exchange liquidity. Once there are sufficient FOREX to go round, the demand will drop and naira will strengthen. I thought Tinubu made a 1st class honors in business. Or have you forgotten?? Heheehe……. |

Johnbullisaclow: Brother I hear you loud and clear on the need for Transparent leadership and governance amd once again Nigeria (who are meant to be the so called Giants or Africa) has come up short where many had such hope for change.
Having said that, let's not conflated both issues....Investments come in all shapes and sizes and businesses and Organisations weight the risks involved when considering coming into any environment to operate and I can tell you the Character of a Political Leader is way low on that list of "Risk Analysis" in consideration (once again, I will clearly state that Investors could give two bleeps about any Leader and his background as long as his policies make the environment feasible for them to operate and make back profit on their investments).
Now if the argument is that BAT will implement policies that are unfavourable to allow for investments, then one can have a concise argument on the pros and cons of that statement (of which there are many), but when the argument is that BAT's Academic qualifications and other Personality issues are the reason that Businesses will not invest in Nigeria, one can only help but laugh at such childish and simplistic assertions (not from you though)
Eitherways, let's see where the chips falls in all of this, alot of (Nigerians (both home and abroad) have moved on with their lives and have left it to the fate of time to determine what happens next (that's how many kept on and on and like a bad joke PMB ended up serving 2 terms and left looking far more healthier than he came in despite the wish of death left, right and center from a lot of people).
We will see where we are in a few months time. First and foremost, I am apolitical. I have no party affiliation whatsoever. In the current scheme of things. How many investors would be willing to risk their investment in Nigeria? When big organizations make business plans and build investment models, one key ingredient that is taken into deep consideration is the business environment. A number of foreign airlines have found it difficult to repatriate their money back home. Bad politics is bad business, and that reverberates deep into every sphere of Nigeria as a society . The truth is that multinational businesses around the world don’t rate Nigeria as a serious nation. You can disagree with that fact, but that doesn’t change what is it. It’s still a fact. Why is that a trend? When Buhari left power in 1985, did he do anything to develop himself academically? No he didn’t. He was elected in 2015 an a cerebrally inept, economically dissonant. Buhari was never in touch with modern realities. He may not have been corrupt by stealing money, but Nigeria went down a downward spiral because he was incompetent. What a European or an American business man sees first are the crop of leaders a country has before investing. Go to Egypt, Rwanda, even Ghana and you’d see a world of difference. Yes weak and corrupt judiciary. aggressively corrupt legislators and an ectopic executive is the bane of our failure as a nation. And it’s not about to get better |

Johnbullisaclow: Quite a silly comment to make, do you think International Investors look at stupid things like this to make business decisions!? Even during Abacha's regime, Investors from China and the Middle East trooped in when there were sanctions (and Western Investors still snuck in to do business with the regieme).
At this point, people are just being childish...Investors are only interested in making profits on their investments, nothing more nothing less....they will come regardless of who the President is as long as they can make a profit in the Nigerian markets, they couldn't give a Bleep about the Politicking going on.
People should know this and know peace. I agree that investors are only interested in making profits. That’s fundamentally true. After all that’s why the businesses were setup in the first place. Now let me ask you a question? Why are companies folding up and leaving the shores of Nigeria ? It shows they are not making profit. It’s also a proof that the business environment is toxic and unproductive. Doesn’t that make sense? And why is the environment unproductive? When you have a fraudster, a certificate forger with the baton, what signal does that send to International investors? It shows that our Judiciary is weak, corrupt and not independent are can not do justice by removing an unqualified person, no matter how highly placed he is. It’s also a proof that Nigeria does not respect its own constitution and laws, and how will they ever respect foreigners or be just to them? How many investors would be willing to place such high and risky stake on their monies? So there is always a reason for honest, transparent, responsible and accountable leadership. These are the reasons. Sadly, there’s none on this clime. |

Tareq1105: Let's see if foreigners and their fake reports can remove the president of a sovereign country. You are missing the point. The point of releasing the report is not to remove him. He’s got the judiciary who are as corrupt as him in his pocket. There are tons of high moral burdens that this will bequeath to the sovereignty of Nigeria as a nation. One of such burden is that our electoral and court system is weak and corrupt as they are either incapable or unwilling to conduct due diligence on individuals vying for the highest office of the land. In the comity of nations, what country will ever take Nigeria seriously or treat its citizens with dignity and respect knowing that the best they can offer is a fraud? How many nations or organizations will want to do business with huge trade liquidity in Nigeria after seeing or reading a damning report about Nigeria’s president? Now if this matters to you, these are very legitimate concerns that should worry you. If the president is innocent of all the allegations leveled against him including those we don’t know as yet, why is he making frantic effort to block its release? At this point I can bet that even his CSU credentials are questionable. The school registrar claimed he graduated with honors even when he had pending courses he didn’t pass. How does that sound to you? And lastly, as a Nigerian citizen, you should worry less about your tribal, religious and partisan affinity of who’s in power. All of that doesn’t make you smart. When you have an honest, cerebral president who understands how economics work and is deliberate about correcting all forms of malfeasance in the system, please support him.
