1. Nigerian Coat of Arms

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bc/Coat_of_arms_of_Nigeria.svg/2000px-Coat_of_arms_of_Nigeria.svg.png
To give its own meaning, there are various things found on the Nigerian Coat of Arms which include .2 white horses, a shield, 2 bands, an eagle and a green plant (cactus) at the down part of the shield.

The white horses symbolize dignity, the black shield represents fertile soil, the eagle means strength, the bands which look like the letter Y represent River Niger and Benue, and finally the green plant symbolizes rich soil and beauty of the land. The Nigerian Motto which is written boldly on the coat of arm is ‘’Unity and Faith’’.

2. Nigerian National Flag

https://connectnigeria.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/538144876.jpg
The Nigerian National flag was for the first time raised on 1st October 1960 after it had being designed in the year 1959 by Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi who was from Ibadan the capital of Oyo State in the western part of the country. He was a student in London. There are two colours on the Nigerian Flag which are Green and White whereby it’s vertically divided into three equal parts. The Green represents agriculture while on the other hand, the white represents peace and wealth and prosperity of a country.

Rules that guide the Nigerian Flag

There are some rules governing the hoisting of the Nigerian Flag and its maintenance which are listed below:

First of all, on no account should any other flag be raised higher than the Nigerian flag. On the other hand, it must be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset.
Another rule is that the Nigerian flag must be hung on important days or any important event and should be hoisted at half-length to respect the fallen heroes.
Finally, if for any reason, the Nigerian flag gets torn, it must be destroyed and replaced immediately.

3. Nigerian National Anthem

The Nigerian National anthem was adopted in 1978 and composed by the then Nigerian Police Band which includes Eme Etim Akpan, John A Ilechukwu Sota Omoigui, P. O. Aderibigbe and B A Ogunnaike led by Benedict E. Odiase. The Anthem has two stanzas where by different words were put in place to make sure that something must be sung in the country to show respect and honour.

The anthem raises the faith of Every Nigerian and also reminds us of our unity as well as common goals which must be achieved. It also talks about the aims and aspirations for the coming generation.

Here is the Nigerian National Anthem:

Ist Stanza

Arise, O compatriots
Nigeria's call obey
to serve our fatherland
with love and strength and faith.
The labour of our heroes past
shall never be in vain,
to serve with heart and might
one nation bound in freedom
Peace and unity.

2nd Stanza

Oh God of creation,
direct our noble cause
Guide thou our leaders right
Help our youths the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and truth
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace
And justice shall reign

4. National Pledge

In September 1976, the National pledge was written by a Nigerian Professor, by name Prof (Mrs) Felicia Adebola. The Nigerian National pledge is known to be an oath of compliance of support of the country. Most times, the National anthem is sung followed by the National Pledge.

It has therefore being decreed that in all schools, students should recite the National Pledge every day. It is always recited on attention, moreover, it is one thing to say it and it is another thing to abide by what it says.

This is the National Pledge below:

I pledge to Nigeria my country

To be faithful loyal an honest

To serve Nigeria with all my strength

To defend her unity

And uphold her honour and glory

So help me God

Nigerian Naira

The Central Bank of Nigeria is the only authorized issuer of the Naira. On different denominations of the Nigerian Naira, the pictures of heroes of the Nigerian country are inscribed. The 50 naira note most especially denotes unity in diversity where different major tribes are seen in it.

Furthermore, we all know that every country in the world also have their own legal tender which symbolizes their currency. For instance, USA uses Dollar, Benin republic uses Franc, Ghana uses Cedis and Nigeria uses Naira. The naira is Nigeria’s official symbol of legal tender since 1973 so where ever you see the Naira, one should know that it’s for Nigeria.

HealthSuccess in Early Results of Coronavirus Vaccine Trial Shows Antibody Development by jayworld15(op): 5:43pm On May 18, 2020
CNN) Study subjects who received Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine had positive early results, according to the biotech company, which partnered with the National Institutes of Health to develop the vaccine.

If future studies go well, the company's vaccine could be available to the public as early as January, Dr. Tal Zaks, Moderna's chief medical officer, told CNN.

"This is absolutely good news and news that we think many have been waiting for for quite some time," Zaks said.

To take on the coronavirus, US vaccine makers consider an unprecedented strategy: working together
To take on the coronavirus, US vaccine makers consider an unprecedented strategy: working together

These early data come from the Phase 1 clinical trial, which typically studies a small number of people and focuses on whether a vaccine is safe and elicits an immune response.

The results of the study, which was led by the National Institutes Health, have not been peer reviewed or published in a medical journal.

Moderna, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is one of eight developers worldwide doing human clinical trials with a vaccine against the novel coronavirus, according to the World Health Organization. Two others, Pfizer and Inovio, are also in the United States, one is at the University of Oxford in Britain, and four are in China.

Moderna has vaccinated dozens of study participants and measured antibodies in eight of them. All eight developed neutralizing antibodies to the virus at levels reaching or exceeding the levels seen in people who've naturally recovered from Covid-19, according to the company.

Neutralizing antibodies bind to the virus, disabling it from attacking human cells.

"We've demonstrated that these antibodies, this immune response, can actually block the virus," Zaks said. "I think this is a very important first step in our journey towards having a vaccine."

A vaccine specialist who is not involved in Moderna's work said the company's results are "great."

White House names heads of 'warp speed' coronavirus vaccine effort
White House names heads of 'warp speed' coronavirus vaccine effort
"It shows that not only did the antibody bind to the virus, but it prevented the virus from infecting the cells," said Dr. Paul Offit, a member of the NIH panel that's setting a framework for vaccine studies in the US.

While the vaccine had promising results in the lab, it's not known if it will protect people in the real world. The US Food and Drug Administration has cleared the company to begin Phase 2 trials, which typically involve several hundred of people, and Moderna plans to start large-scale clinical trials, known as Phase 3 trials, in July, which typically involve tens of thousands of people.

Offit said before the pandemic, vaccine developers would typically test out their product in thousands of people before moving on to Phase 3, but that Moderna is "extremely unlikely" to have vaccinated that many by July, since they've only vaccinated dozens so far.

He said it makes sense to Moderna to move into Phase 3 without vaccinating that many people, given that Covid-19 is killing thousands of people each day.

"This is a different time," Offit said.

In January, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases, said it would take about 12 to 18 months to get a vaccine on the market. Zaks said he agreed with that estimate for Moderna's vaccine, putting a delivery date somewhere between January and June of next year.

In the Moderna study, three participants developed fever and other flu-like symptoms when they received the vaccine at a dose of 250 micrograms. Moderna anticipates the Phase 3 study on dosage will be between 25 and 100 micrograms.

So far, the Moderna study subjects who were vaccinated even at 25 and 100 micrograms achieved antibody levels similar to or even higher than people who naturally became infected with coronavirus.

But it's not clear whether natural infection confers immunity to re-infection, and so similarly it's not clear whether vaccination confers immunity.

"That's a good question, and the truth is, we don't know that yet," Zaks said. "We are going to have to conduct formal efficacy trials where you vaccinate many, many people, and then you monitor them in the ensuing months to make sure they don't get sick."

Foreign AffairsI Call It The Super-duper Missile': Trump Teases Development Of New Hypersonic W by jayworld15(op): 6:46pm On May 16, 2020
President Trump teased that a "super-duper missile" is under production.

During a White House event on Friday to preview the U.S. Space Force flag, Trump revealed that the government was working on new military equipment to contest those under development abroad, teasing a new hypersonic weapon.

“We’re building, right now, incredible military equipment at a level that nobody has ever seen before. We have no choice. We have to do it with the adversaries we have out there. We have a, I call it the 'super-duper missile.' And I heard the other night, 17 times faster than what they have right now," Trump said.

“You take the fastest missile we have right now, you’ve heard Russia has five times, and China is working on five or six times. We have one 17 times. And it’s just gotten the go-ahead. Seventeen times faster, if you can believe that, general. That’s something, right? Seventeen times faster than what we have right now. Fastest in the world by a factor of almost three," Trump said.

In December 2019, Russia deployed its first iteration of hypersonic missiles called the Avangard system. The country conducted a test of the weapon in late 2018, with Russian President Vladimir Putin describing it afterward as "invulnerable to intercept by any existing and prospective missile defense means of the potential adversary."

Foreign AffairsUS House Passes $3 Trillion Coronavirus Aid Bill by jayworld15(op): 5:18am On May 16, 2020
House passes $3 trillion coronavirus aid bill opposed by Donald Trump
The bill includes help for state governments and another round of direct payments to Americans to help stimulate the economy

The House of Representatives has narrowly approved a $3 trillion bill crafted by Democrats but opposed by Donald Trump that would provide more aid for fighting the coronavirus and stimulating a faltering economy.

By a vote of 208-199, Democrats won passage of a bill that Republican leaders, who control the Senate, and the president, have vowed to block, despite some Republican support for provisions aimed at helping state and local governments.

But the measure could trigger a new round of negotiations with congressional Republicans and Mr Trump, who have been talking about the need for new business liability protections in the age of coronavirus or additional tax cuts. Democrats oppose both of those ideas.

Following the vote, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer announced that May 27-28 would be set aside for voting on some sort of coronavirus-related bill if one is ready by then. He provided no details on the contents of such a bill.

The 1,800-page relief bill passed on Friday, called the Heroes Act, would extend to all corners of the United States economy. It includes $500 billion in aid to struggling state governments, another round of direct payments to people and families to help stimulate the economy, and hazard pay for healthcare workers and others on the front line of the pandemic.

"Many of them have risked their lives to save lives and many of them may lose their jobs" as state and local government revenues plummet during the crisis, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said during a day-long debate.

The No 2 Republican, Steve Scalise, urged the House to defeat the huge bill, calling it a "socialist giveaway" and blaming China, where the coronavirus emerged late last year, for the suffering brought by the pandemic.

Passage of the bill came as the US has recorded more than 85,000 deaths from Covid-19, the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus. The number of US coronavirus cases and deaths far outpace any other country.

Earlier on Friday the House also approved a change in its rules to allow members to temporarily cast their votes by proxy during the crisis if Ms Pelosi deems it necessary.

The Democratic initiative, which was opposed by Republicans, marked an historic shift for Congress which had never before allowed lawmakers to cast votes from anywhere but the House chamber.

It came as Congress struggles to function amid the pandemic, with members mainly sheltering at home in an effort to help stop the spread of the virus.

Under the new proxy-voting rules, House members could cast votes from remote locations.

PoliticsThe US Is Dramatically Overcounting Coronavirus Deaths by jayworld15(op): 5:09am On May 16, 2020
The US Is Dramatically Overcounting Coronavirus Deaths

Over 86,500 people have reportedly died in the United States from the Coronavirus, and the fear generated by those deaths is driving the public policy debate. But that number is a dramatic overcount. Our metrics include deaths that have nothing to do with the virus. The problem is even worse as the Centers for Disease Control over counts even some of these cases and the government has created financial incentives for this misreporting. Relying on these flawed numbers is destroying businesses and jobs and costing lives.

“The case definition is very simplistic,” Dr. Ngozi Ezike, director of Illinois Department of Public Health, explains. “It means, at the time of death, it was a COVID positive diagnosis. That means, that if you were in hospice and had already been given a few weeks to live, and then you also were found to have COVID, that would be counted as a COVID death. It means, technically even if you died of clear alternative cause, but you had COVID at the same time, it’s still listed as a COVID death.”

Medical examiners in Michigan use the same definition. In Macomb and Oakland Counties, where most of the deaths occurred, medical examiners classify any deaths as Coronavirus deaths when the postmortem test is positive. Even people who died in suicides and automobile accidents meet that definition.

Still, these broad definitions are not due to a few rogue public health officials. The rules direct them to do this. Unlike other countries, “if someone dies with COVID-19, we are counting that as a COVID-19 death,” as Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, recently noted.

Classifications go beyond even these broad categories. New York is classifying cases as Coronavirus deaths even when postmortem tests have been negative. Despite negative tests, classifications are based on symptoms, even though the symptoms are often very similar to those of the seasonal flu. The Centers for Disease Control guidance explicitly acknowledges the uncertainty that doctors can face. When Coronavirus cases are “suspected,” they advise doctors that “it is acceptable to report COVID-19 on a death certificate.”

That isn’t just a theoretical issue. On April 21st, when New York City’s death toll rose above 10,000, the New York Times reported that the city included “3,700 additional people who were presumed to have died of the coronavirus but had never tested positive” – a more than 50 percent increase in the number of cases.

But the problem is worse than this broad definition implies. Birx and others believe that the CDC is over counting cases. The Washington Post reports they are concerned that the CDC’s “antiquated” accounting system is double counting cases and inflating mortality and case counts “by as much as 25 percent.”

There are additional reasons for concern. Some doctors feel pressure from hospitals to list deaths as due to the Coronavirus, even when they don’t believe that is the case, “to make it look a little bit worse than it is.” There are financial incentives that might make a difference for hospitals and doctors. The CARES Act adds a 20 percent premium for COVID-19 Medicare patients.

Incentives matter. When the government increased the disability compensation for air traffic controllers, a lot more controllers suddenly started claiming to be disabled. When unemployment insurance payments increase, more people become unemployed and stay unemployed for longer periods. When the government offers flood insurance that charges everyone the same insurance premium regardless of the risk level in their area, more people build homes in frequently flooded areas.

The Washington Post and others claim that we are undercounting the true number of deaths. They reach that conclusion by showing the total number of deaths from all causes is greater than we would normally expect from March through early May, and that this excess is actually due to deaths not being accurately labeled as due to the Coronavirus. But these are simply not normal times. Lots of people with heart and other problems aren’t going to the hospital for fear of the virus. Surgeries for many serious conditions are being put off. The stress of the situation is increasing suicides and other illnesses.

Deaths that have absolutely nothing to do with the Coronavirus count as virus deaths. Add to that claims that the CDC is double counting some of these improperly identified cases and the perverse financial incentives created by the government, and you have a real mess when crucial decisions are being made based in large part on this data.

Erroneous data unduly scare people about the risks of the disease. It keeps the country locked down longer than necessary, which destroys peoples’ lives and livelihoods in many other ways. Exaggerated fears of the virus endanger lives by keeping people from obtaining treatment for other medical problems. It also makes it impossible to accurately compare policies across countries.

It is hard to believe that we are basing such crucial decisions on such flawed data.

Foreign AffairsCOVID-19: Saudi Arabia Triples VAT, Suspends Cost Of Living Allowance by jayworld15(op): 12:09pm On May 12, 2020
Saudi Arabia has increased its rate of value-added tax by three-fold from 5% to 15%.

According to the country’s news agency, the government would also suspend the cost of living allowance from June 1.

Mohammad Aljadaan (pictured), Saudi Arabia’s minister of finance and acting minister of economy and planning, said on Monday that the measures were necessary to “overcome the unprecedented financial and economic ramifications of the global coronavirus pandemic in the best way possible”.

“These measures are painful but necessary to maintain financial and economic stability over [the] medium to long term… and overcome the unprecedented coronavirus crisis with the least damage possible,” SPA quoted Aljadaan to have said.

“We must reduce budget expenditures sharply. Current actions taken to date to cut spending are not enough, and Saudi public finances will need more control and the journey ahead is long.

“‏The cost-of-living allowance shall be discontinued as of June 2020 and VAT shall increase from 5% to 15% as of July 2020.

“Also, to improve spending efficiency, a ministerial committee has been established to study the financial benefits paid to all employees, contractors and those of similar status who are not subject to civil service law in government ministries, institutions, authorities, centres, and programs, and present its recommendations within 30 days.”

The minister said other measures that would be implemented including “cancelling, extending, or postponing some operational and capital expenditures for some government agencies, as well reducing provisions for major projects” in the 2020 fiscal year.

The Saudi Arabian government introduced VAT in January 2018 to boost non-oil revenue after the crude oil prices dipped sharply in 2015.

In 2019, Saudi Arabia raised $25.6 billion in an initial public offering of shares in Saudi Aramco, the state-owned oil company.

The share sale is part of the country’s effort to wean off its economy from oil dependence.

Chicken, turkey, snail, fish,(they belong to white meat) nut, pear, olive oil etc belong to that category that give good fat while red meat, indomie, spaghetti, groundnut oil, etc give bad fat. There are two types of fat. Good fat and bad fat. The highest level for bad fat is pecked at 100 in the body while the lowest peck for good fat is 60. This one guy I was dating was a biter, which I really didn't like, so I'd fiercely object to being bitten because I bruise easily & needless to say, it's painful/weird. He was so into it, that he wouldn't be able to climax unless he bit me & since that was out of the question, he'd ask me to bite him instead. So every time we'd get to it, I'd have to ready my teeth for a salty bite. It made me to dislike salt & vinegar flavoured chips because that's what he tasted like grin
He is Luis Suarez I guessed
grin grin grin

PropertiesRe: What's The Cost Of Building A Self Contained Apartment Now? by jayworld15(m): 5:36pm On May 08, 2020
Excluding the land ownership, pls just have between 5million to 300million. To build house now isn’t an easy thing. House building has many factors attached to it.
1) site location- the amount you’ll use in building a house around Surulere in Lagos wont be the same with the one in Oke-Bola in Ibadan or Choba in Rivers State.

2) Land terrain- If your terrain is water logged, be prepared to spend a lot of money for foundation. And by the way, you can even spend from 300k to 1M for borehole water drilling and installation.

3) Cost of materials- what kind of materials do you intend to use.

4) Design-both interior and exterior

5) Area- How secured, porous, motorable, etc is it
And many more.
Don’t mind those telling you 700-1.5m. Only if you want to erect a muddy house.

It is time to investigate the death of General Sanni Abacha. The man may have been used for money ritual cheesy

If you care to check the breakdown of loots, oh apology, 'bailouts', repatriated thus far from him alone anytime Nigeria is 'broke'.

1998 : $750m
2000: $64m
2002: $1.2bn
2003: $160m
2003: $88m
2005: $461m
2006: $44m
2014: $227m
2017: $322m
2019: £211m
2020: $311m

Anytime, Nigeria is in dire need of money, this man must send money from his grave.

Thank God for Abacha.
The dude has been saving Nigeria and Nigerians, sending us money from the great beyond everytime we need such. May his source of fund never dry up. Kudos!.

Now, on a serious note
,

What happened to the 1.2 Billion OBJ collected in 2002?
And all the other BILLIONS collected by PDP?
And what is the hope this new ones collected by APC will be used judiciously to people it will be assigned to by the President?

Work won't allow us to type much now,
We will only continue to be positive about the greatness of our country.
Nigeria will be great again,
if not in our lifetime,
it will surely be in the lifetime of our 'born' and unborn kids.
It is well.

Just imagine all what all the BILLIONS of dollars could have done.
Now, juxtapose Allison Madueke over $20 BILLION Dollars to it and all the hidden monies (in foreign currencies) on farms, abandoned buildings, drainages etc
Our darling country by now should have been on par with UAE or Canada!
Again,
May it never ever be well with all the past and present politicians and past leaders that looted our national treasury.
And many other of their politicians were buying houses all over the world, hiding and burying hard currencies (raw cash) in latrines, on farms, in soakaway, in abandoned buildings all over their country!
May they ALL never end well in life.

And if you here on NL or anywhere on Social media
....if you ever collected or still collecting money to support any of these politicians that raped and looted our nation (or collecting any form of money to launder their images both online and offline).....repent NOW before what will befall them come looking for you.
Y'all can and will never escape it.
No be curse,
Na FACT!

We Rise.
Keep safe y'all!
Back to our temp job as first responders.
We will win this war.

It seems you’re now changing... well keep it up. May God save this country from all enemies within and foreign and all those that ally with them.

I said what I said . So am I suppose to envy a woman who spends on a man .. desperation is all I see and u r exploiting it .
This is where you erred. You called someone who refused to give you “stingy” and called another “exploiting” person whose companion reciprocated in giving and spending on him. The truth is that you’re as a “common” girlfriend has no entitlement whatsoever on any man’s property. He isn’t your husband. He’s just a man who at the end of the day may dump you. The earlier you girls start standing financially independent, the better because no serious, insightful person takes a liability as his or her husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend. Wake up! Pls, wake up! The future would soon remove the lid on your eyes yo reality.
