I am mother of three looking to move to Canada with my kids. I have a five year visitor visa already. My questions are:
Which province is most suitable for me,in respect to settling in, finding a job and school for my kids, price of accommodation and cost of living generally.

I have always been a business woman and from what I have gathered it's easier for skilled workers to get jobs so which training or programs can I run and get certified before travelling next year?

Is it possible to write Canadian certificate examinations from Nigeria and get certified.

I'm based in Port Harcourt,is there anyone from Port Harcourt here who can help me with information on any of the questions I have asked?

I'm open to any advice I get because I intend to either get a job from here before coming or get a job when I arrive.

It has its requirement. You must have a relative (brother, sister, spouse, parent etc) that has a work, student, PR or Citizenship status in Canada.

OR

you can do a short course (not more than 6 months) that is a pre-requisite to what you want to study in the institution. Let the admission from the institution be given to you on that basis of short course completion as pre-requisite and other qualifications you have.

Else return back to your country to apply.

You and your husband can actually apply from the UK if you have jobs in the UK which should serve as good home ties. If you dont have any vacation history try one of the Europe country around 1st lets say France or one nearby to get a visit history on your passports.

If you live and work in UK then it is only ideal you use your UK bank statement, offer letters to show proof of work or business and then official leave letters to show you have financial access and stability in the UK. That is not to say you cant add Nigeria Bank Account to the PoF.

Have nothing less than 20k CAD in total equivalent (both pounds and Naira) in your PoF as the places you re visiting and activities will determine your spending.

Screenshot the cost of places you will lodge, return flight cost and other cost and put them up in a budget for the trip. Add an itinerary of where and when you're visiting.

Avoid lump sum or explain it. Goodluck.

3.Family is currently in the UK...but will be in Nigeria for biometrics...is it ok to put UK address as current address or Nigerian address..??

4. Naija bank statement has bulk of the money for the trip....is it okay to support the application with naija account even though living in the UK(workers)..

Should we be expecting massive update? IRCC website has been down for over 3 hours now.

Starting from September 26th , Temporary Foreign Workers cap (limit) for every workplace in Canada will reduce from 20% to 10%.


The implication is just few jobs (10% of a workforce) will only be left for foreigners workers with LMIA or PGWP or SOWP or BWP as there people will take 90% of the jobs with exception to Construction, Healthcare and Hospitality industry. If you just have visitor visa, your chances of getting a job reduces to 0.00001%

Canada is gradually becoming South Africa small small.

Your best bet is not to japaa as a visitor.

Get into the pool for Federal Express Entry. Get tested in French and English and aim high score. With a good work experience and education you are likely to be nominated by one of the Canadian province.

If this option is too difficult for you then go through school ( a Masters or 2 yr Diploma course) so you can have 3 yrs PGWP to enable you find a job and pursue PR before your status expires. But again this option is damn expensive but seems convenient as your school period will enable you work part time and study the economics of the country yourself.

Someone above has advised you of the reality with visitor visa status and it's just the bitter truth. If you try it, you may end up as an asylum seeker which will likely be rejected and you may be forcefully ejected out of Canada which will make you unable to relocate or travel to many if the western countries because of your failed asylum attempt. A word is enough for the wise.

Best way to confirm is to get the gcms note. He should try and get all the refusal notes, easy as ABC. It helps to reduce the specualtions.

As we speak, sadly many ppl are still planning to go file Asylum in Canada and they use tourist and conference the most from data. People like Bobrisky who can even get it easily are not interested in it.

If you have no family in Canada or no significant travel history, and you're applying for just a tourist visit visa in this 2024 , it's best not to be overly optimistic. Even with 10 billion in proof of funds, the refusal rate for new travelers is extremely high. It's wise to have an alternative plan!!

The wait is choking.... I am March applicants.

I am just thinking what we can do to let people know that asylum route is not the best.

With trade skills like carpentry, mechanics, truck driving, machinist etc you can japaa legitimately to most of these countries if you plan yourselves as they have shortage of trade skills and artisans but my people prefer the easy route which often leads to National embarrassment and negative branding for us as a nation.


Any solution insight apart from fixing the country? Bright minds pls share your thoughts.

It is required oh, this was the reason I was refused SOWP.

The longer the time frame for the SOWP the more funds will be required.

I was refused according to the gcms note because my balance on the account was about 10k CAD and the VO noted I used same account for sponsorship of my spouse so on that note he doesn't think my balance was good enough for both of us. That's how I lost sowp privilege as she is a college student. I have to revert to TRV now.

First try use another bank account balance if possible and if not make sure it's not less than 20k CAD If you ll be staying for a year or more periid.

If a spouse is already in Canada studying and the husband wants to join with an SOWP, will the husband require a POF in his application? If yes, how much is required? Who is supposed to show the POF, the spouse already in Canada or the husband?

Did you include a Full time job? PGWP application now must come with full time offers to qualify for SOWP unlike before that it is automatic without need for job proof by the PGWP holder.

You may send them a web form and politely asking them to check if you qualify for CAN plus TRV processing after attaching your visa

I don't think there is an issue. If your application says approved it is as ONLY a senior IRCC VO can approve your application after a junior officer has worked on it. The tracker will be updated to reflect your travel details.

You can only be afraid if it's an agent giving you this information but if you DIY no worries.

Pls kindly share your timeline.

This is really confusing

Apply along with your toddler. Ensure your sister who is a Canadia citizen sends you an invitation where she will commit to taking care of all your expenses. It means she will show her employment contracts, pay stubs and four months statements.

With that, your husband stands as home ties. It's also good you have some assets in form of land and business or work you are doing and also your husbands work.

With the above, the need for huge PoF from your side will be reduced since your older sister has committed to sponsoring most of your bills. Don't let the travel period be more than 2 weeks.

Your chances are high but I don't know why they are not using fast track CAN + to process your visa.

Sure , I am traveling with my wife , we both have US and UK visas and i got an invitation letter from my sister who is a Canadian, We have both visited 12 countries together as a family and we have previously been issued 5 US visas.

Bros that area hot now, your chances of approval is very slim because of history of Nigerians indiscriminately using the route to file for asylum.

However if you have good travel history without breaking immigration rules plus good account balance and work/assets home ties you may stand a chance for conference. If you are also a speaker in the conference of your own professional field and your invitees are sponsoring you fully or partially it's also another advantage.

Most of the people sharing visa approval are from family or friends or colleagues visits.

Wow this is so painful. They should have given you a decision early enough but delaying someone for 11 months before denial is a no no.

You can send a web form attaching your valid US Visa and ask for CAN + processing.

I also hope you filled the travel history very well filling your US travel history experience.

I have a US visa that I've not used yet. I didn't provide proof of funds. I booked a 1 week stay in an Airbnb that I didn't pay for.

General advise to those who care to listen?

There is no need to process a new passport if you still have more than 6 months on your current passport after you have been approved. If you have done that prior approval it is better to inform IRCC earlier.

The fact that people are doing it and getting away doesn't mean it will be so at your own turn.

Let's try and normalize doing things rightly and even when you japaa you will not have any fear of exhibiting traits that contravene laws of organized society.

What many if us call smartness or grace in Nigeria (using connection/bribe to bypass process) may land you in trouble in organized society.

They will come here to learn DIY tips as soon as they get what they want they will begin to abuse ppl on the same forum who is contributing to make the community strong. That's a very bad spirit.

In as much as I agree we have a leadership problem in Nigeria, we also have a big followership problem.

The Leaders you see messing up today were once followers. I hope we will have citizens that thinks beyond there own selfish good.

Don't be discouraged. By their statements we shall know them. People like them are the one spoiling the ground for other people when they enter Canada. They see any idea or information contrary to their desperate expectation as hostility.

Newfoundland was the easiest province to get PR. Before, just got any job, you would be nominated for Provincial Nominee. Some desperate students and their spouses came, just because they wanted to beat the system, they abused the integrity of the immigration system. The way Canada immigration is structured is that you transit from work permit to PR. Thats why students are given Postgraduate Work Permit after graduation. What the students did was that they did not have the money they claimed they had.They came to Canada empty handed despite presenting a bogus bank statement to the IRCC, when they arrived Canada, they paid part of the tuition fees, They hurriedly broought their spouses in to work in order to pay the school fees. Once the spouse worked 6 months on the work permit, they hurriedly apply for PR. Since the Newfoundland immigration system was the fastest, they got PR faster. They went back to the school that they are now permabent residents, and such they should convert their tuition to domestic fees including the ones they were owing. Some even applied for PR when still schooling because Canada allowed them to work full time.

We warned them but they called us names. Now, Newfoundland has come up with stricter requirements for their PR
