@house @Bookiemart01 What do you think is the best option (considering both cost and speed) for shipping light weight items into the country especially to a location outside lagos. I want to import customised ties but I need to get some samples of say 3-5 pcs. How best do you think I go about it both for the sample and the bigger cargo? Thanks |

@Lstar4real I about ordering a large quantity of customised ties but would first receive samples of 3-5 pieces. Can you ship the samples and how many days would it take? Also do you deliver outside lagos? and if yes, is it at an added cost? |

I also have a similar problem with my MTN line. Subscribed for the 3.5G data plan on the 13th only for it to expire on the 16th. Have called them severally but they keep telling me they would work on it for over two days now. I had to recharge for the daily plan. Though I noticed they carried over the extra data, but the validity is just for a day |

True and well articulated post. I would rather say the biggest problem is our wrong approach to religion and religious and ethnic racism. Religion is good when approached with the right mindset. I used racism cos it's about the best word that describes the kind of ethnic intolerance prevalent in every part of this country |

Infinitikoncept: The biggest advice I got on this thread is ply only the route you know well If I decide to go into furniture today my first task is to take at least two weeks practical training with a good company and learn the pros and con's cox @ d end what I'm rushing after may not be the LA crème LA crème. True. For me, I'm not doing it as a business per se. It's more of something personal. It's a single school. I had previously spoken to people to supply the items knowing full well from where they are imported. However, the prices they were giving me were quite high ( maybe cos I've seen their prices on Alibaba), so I decided to do it myself and also use it as an opportunity to learn. The market people I met had no idea about it. I've done quite some reading on it both here and on other sites and I'm still learning. That's why I want to first start with the ties. |

Infinitikoncept: A tie is a light item so air cargo will do. If its a contract you are going for then I advise you get a good graphics designer, check out tie pictures for schools online, look for what suits you well. Tell your graphics guy to design according to the pattern your supplier gave you. He puts it on 3D,ask your supplier if it will be achievable either by monogram or its screen printing, show d school management the 3D design, they approve and u run samples. U will still get air cargo for $5.6-6/kg inclusive clearing. Please I won't answer your question again so don't bother quoting me. LOL. No vex o. But you sound so knowledgeable about the subject matter. I know say e no easy but make una dey try share info with we newbies. No be one day person dey take learn everything |

lordmayor4: Fabric yes and I used container shipment, cos cos was about 2 bales. That's big. You should be well experienced in this then. For smaller packages like mine, what option do you think is best? Also, the fabric you imported, were they already sewn (i.e shirts, dresses e.t.c) or plain? I'm asking because I'm also looking at importing customised cotton fabric for school uniform or do you know where I can get it in Nigeria? |

So good to be back here. Have missed you all and the oldies. Have you done something similar before or imported fabric in the past?
Also, what method do you use for shipping? |

francawilson: Shipping is what will eat into ur gain big time.I change dollar at a high rate then pay customs fee any if u're outside Lagos u pay extra to get it shipped. If u can chat with rhe gurus on NL here&if it can be produced here then do it here a nd gain more.Something I got two days ago fro China;I paid thru my nose which I regretted. Hmm. I'm outside Lagos and looking at about 300pcs of customised school ties. I don't know anywhere I can get it done in Nigeria. I thought there was the option of free shipping or anyone where I can pick it up at the nearest post-office. It's the Customs duty that I don't know how it's calculated. How did you ship yours |

AleAirHub: Good morning sir,
In that case , i will advice you do your proper finding then because our duty is solely we procure and ship for buyers. So we are not in place to determine the price or what the items will be use for after purchase....
Bravo sir Thanks. But have you procured something similar in the past or know anyone who has? |
Business › Re: Do It Yourself Importation Guide Free - Season 2 by jedisco(m): 7:36am On May 13, 2016 |
francawilson: It was customized wristwatch. They told me to pay sample fee(mold and something else. Can't remember) and dhl fee so that they will produce a sample and send to me.Someone from NL here helped me design the wristwatch as I want it so i emailed my design to them but i asked them for sample of their past wristwatch which they showed me cos i wanted to confirm they'l be capable of handling it.
Ymodulus and David8 and some other guys on this business thread are good at these customized things. On alibaba.Items has MOQ (minimum quantity).I also got a contract to also do customized socks but I was travelling so I told them i can't meet up.Moreover most Alibaba suppliers I contacted told me MOQ for socks is 1500pcs&the school wanted just 500.So I let it go.
Before u venture into importation.Knowlege dollar rate and the price of shipping plus cost of produ tion and ur gain.It will help u with ur quotation in ur proposal. Good points. I would try and contact them. Another issue bothering me is getting the right and cheaper method for shipping. I'm sure after doing it the first time, it would be easier subsequently. |
