One question for the Hornets why trade your starting Center for backups of one of the worst teams in the league surely there could have been other teams they could do business with
I was wondering the same thing oh . . . everyone is busy "clearing cap space" in anticipation of the coming sweepstakes. No one is thinking about what if we strike out. You are not guaranteed anything in the future, you must try to win NOW.

Moonstone:
Jesoul, are you minding them? I called my friend today and was "crying" over that stupid trade hysterically. They are not even starters oooo! Backups for Jeff Green. Both of them. Chandler is the main core of our defense and these stupid people have rendered us completely useless. Can you imagine?

I am just tired. angry angry angry angry angry
My sista I nor blame you jare. When I saw the trade I was like is it just me or does this look like a raw deal for the Hornets? Last season Chandler's inside presence gave the Celtics a tough time, he and CP3 along with West terrorised other teams with their combination. Besides "cap space" I don't see how this helps the team.

The Hornets trade Tyson Chandler to OKC for Joe who? Smith and Chris what? Wilcox. I guess these guys could add to the team but still . . . even though Chandler has been down this yr, the guy was a double machine last yr. It looks like the Hornets be getting the short end of this stick, but if Chandler ends up being injured the whole time, it'll have been a good deal I guess.

Tasma:
Sorry guys, haven't really been part of this thread for a while.
Not a problem  smiley  just jump right in smiley

Just a few comments, first Je Soul the part where you say the bible cannot be understood by human understanding is a bit of a problem. It goes back to arguments of whether the bible can be taken literally or not. If it takes a special kind of spirit to understand the bible that only some people have acquired then we may conclude that the bible cannot be taken literally. It means that if the bible says there was a flood that covered the whole earth - this statement may not be literally true. However if you have the true spirit of God in you then it is true , somehow. I'm not sure if you see how murky this leaves the translation of the bible.
How does needing the spirit of God to understand the bible = Don't take the bible literally?  huh

I said
JeSoul:
I believe the bible is a complex book that cannot be understood by human understanding. We need the spirit of God to reveal the difficult and sometimes confusing things in it.
Sometimes my dear, I said the bible is sometimes difficult to understand. For example Jn3:16 "For God so loved the world he sent His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life"  is pretty much straightforward and doesn't require much 'translation'. But go into the book of Daniel and Revelation and it gets harder to understand. Then we need the Holy spirit that much more to be able to understand what is being said in those places.

First off can we then assume that all people with the spirit of God in them will interpret the bible the same way, see the same hidden meaning in all biblical verses. This is in fact not true as evidenced by the various denominations of of the Church in existence. So where does that leave us.
Yes they will. Sometimes they might attack it from different angles but the overall message should be in harmony . . . however you're missing one thing: while the Spirit is one and is never confused - the problem is with the us. Even as christians we don't always listen to the spirit, don't always pray and study closely enough and hence sometimes end up with disagreeing thots and doctrines, all claiming to be based on the bible.

So how do we differentiate who's wrong and who's right? Well the bible teaches each christian to study and discern (with the help of the holy spirit) to figure it out. So we come back to where I said each man has to search and account for themselves, I cannot confirm or deny for you which way you should go, you find out from God.

The second problem with this argument is that those who study folklore is different cultures have seen and heard several stories like the biblical stories. Their studies have brought a great understanding to how ancient folklore originates and develops into accepted "fact" in many cultures. In another thread I asked the question that if a sango worshipper told you stories similar to ones you read in the bible how long would it take you to discard the stories. Many Africans believe stories about Oduduwa are folktales but the biblical stories are true. Can it possibly be because we feel the more civilized religion is simply superior? If this is the case then a 100 years from now who can say if Christianity will still a widely accepted religion.
We're back to faith sweetie  smiley I only 'know' with assurance and confidence becos I've chosen to believe the bible above and before anything else.

I'm not sure you will agree with the points i have above but i would be interested in hearing if you think they make any sense at all. Cheers
Oh yes they do make sense and are very good points.

and I do, 100% without any reservations. I believe the bible is a complex book that cannot be understood by human understanding. We need the spirit of God to reveal the difficult and sometimes confusing things in it.

good, mine has also been mostly guaranteed during my life time but rather than attribute it to God, I attribute it to Time and chance. If I was born in Somalia or any of the hotspots then it might not be guaranteed whereas if I was born as a member of the Royal family, I would have to watch a documentary to even understand that people could be in such situations where their daily bread is not guaranteed.
If I accept your statement attributing your provision to God then I must say that he is a very evil God to send some babies to peaceful countries and others to trouble spots. Surely, such a God can't be good.
and my dear Dudu is God to blame for the actions of men? Isn't it us who make our surroundings peaceful or war-zones? Don't we have the freewill to do as we please?
God has given the earth to man, it is now up to us to do evil or good with our power. Why do we then turn around and blame God when we do evil?

Be careful what you ask for, they have a way of happening.

I know, the alien vs human implication makes me nervous too, and the bit with Olivia and the shining lights sort of takes me back to the matrix, terminator 3 and "the one" syndrome.  Let's hope it doesn't go there, I think the writers know better than that, lol, next thing we know, we'll be thrown another curve ball.
lol true and that's what I've loved about it so far, its been unpredictable and I like that.

Didn't think of Bell writing the book. it's a BIG possbility, seeing that Bell and Walter were acquaintances long before Massive Dynamic. I don't know why, but I also think there's more to Astrid as well.
Yeah I think it'd be too obvious if it ends up being Walter who wrote it . .  . this myserious Bell that we never get to see self  cheesy. I'm anticipating the look on Peter's face when he finds this out  smiley

LOL I absolutely do!  grin  and Peter's witty sarcastic remarks are just priceless during those times.

Is the series a big deal in Boston, by the way?
Not as far as I can tell actually. I think if the show continues to get good ratings as it is, it'll get bigger. Oh and another thing I like about it is the limited commercials . . . "Fringe will return in 60 seconds" lol and it really does  smiley

that was a nice nut-shell description of the show, Joshua is perfect with his sarcasm and wit and Anna Torv is simply fantastic. "Broyles & Charlie" are also nice supporting cast characters.
I live in Boston and its so cool to see areas I know and have been to popping up on the show  smiley

Nnenna1:
No one around me watches it so I place it online. Anyone seen this week's episode? What do you make of Walter writing the apocalyptic book? I'm rewatching some episodes on hulu.com because I feel like something went over my head.
Mehn it was a nice twist but not too suprising I guess. I think it'll end up being Bell that wrote it, it'll add up since he went on to found Massive Dynamic. I loved the x-files but I hope they don't make this an 'aliens vs humans' thing.

I'm a lil nervous about the direction they're going with making Olivia "special" with the whole ability thing . . . but it should be fun if they can keep the writing creative.

My dear my daily bread is "guaranteed" becos its in the hands of God. He promised to supply all our needs and in my short life I have not seen that promise fail once.

There's a prayer in the bible that goes like this:
Proverbs 30:8
Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches
but give me only my daily bread.

Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
and say, 'Who is the LORD ?'
Or I may become poor and steal,
and so dishonor the name of my God.

This is and has always been my prayer to God.

My brotha if "everywhere" and "every church you've tried" are all the same then find like minded christians and fellowship in your home or theirs. While being with other christians is good and serving in a church is wonderful, however, church attendance is not mandatory to enter heaven. Serve the poor in your community and help those around you and that will be doing your duty to God.
Its too bad christianity has been overrun with thieves & wolves in sheeps clothing and devils in choir robes.

I expect to get flakes, abuses and even curses but those that will help are those who can point me to the true church. All readers of this thread have a responsibility of ensuring I don't end up in hell fire. Please point me to the right church, the one with the right doctrines. Gospel of salvation and sanctification and not undue emphasis on materialism. I'm counting on you and God is counting on you too.
I point you straight to the bible.

The church is not made of stones or buildings, the true church is scattered all around the world, the true church are those actively, fervently & whole heartedly following God and the bible. If you do the same no matter where you are, then you are already part of the true church.

ESPN and the Cowboys have a special love affair you should know that by now if T.O wanted to drop a rap album ESPN would be the very first people to help him promote his album by talking about it in every single show of theirs.
Isn't he doing a reality show? I heard something about that not too long ago

All this fancy stats count for nothing i am sorry Ben's two rings are obstructing my vision if na by stats the likes of T.O should have a ring by now grin grin grin
ehen now if na only ring we dey take use measure who be the best then we're right back to Derek Fisher better than CP3  cool  kiss

So it has to be a combination of both right?

Broda I agree Ben is clutch and plays well when he needs to. However the bottomline is the Steelers got the SB both times not becos of him (and sometimes in spite of him) but becos of their defense. There was nuthin overly dynamic or special about their offense this season. He was the leader at the helm true, made great plays when it counted true, but remove that defense and they belong with the JV Cowboys  grin  remember them?  grin
