So are you ready for Boston to go up 2-zip? cheesy That was atrocious shooting by Lebron, Pierce and Allen. . . I was shaking my head in disbelief the whole time. Honestly I think Boston won by luck. . . James missed so many easy lay-ups it was weird. I'm looking for a better game from both sides tonight . . .now is so not the time to not be playing ur best.

J-girl,
Its either I underestimated the hornets or the spurs really suck . . . I'm not sure which it is. That question will be answered tonight. wink

@poster,
end times baby, these are the end times - no news like this really suprises me anymore. The bible teaches us the world will wax worse and worse. This kind of behavior whether commited by a pastor or priest or teacher or uncle or father is always despicable and can never be justified or excused - he must face the music and receive his due punishment.  angry   angry   angry

This your post is not enlightening at all. Thats why it beats my imagination that you claim you were ever in a protestant church! I am now beginning to believe you went there in search of something entirely different and not to know Christ at all while jumping from protestant church A to B and so on. Sorry if i offend you. Now tell me, who in your wildest dreams amongst the protestants will ever stand up for that gay pastor? Why just expose your insecurities by looking for a gap where there is none? You obviously don't understand protestantism as this your demeanor is clearly revealing.
If anyone derides your catholic priests for reasons that are genuine, please accept it, take the lessons and move on with life being armed with the right knowledge. If i see that so-called pastor, i can almost slap him left to my natural self but can only pray for him considering that the devil is already at him.

SO my dear, it is not a war for supremacy or the most "chaste" or perfect church we are engaging on this forum, it is a case of truth of the scriptures you people claim you have canonized versus the bland error of the Vatican authorities. Even if a sinner points your error to you, gladly accept it and move on rather than put up an excuse that you can't allow a sinner to correct you. Do you care to put your spiritual priorities right as against a blind defense for error and heresies?
Abeg tell her jare.  angry
You took the words right out of my mouth. Instead of just speaking to the issue lady decides to make it another catholic vs. pros problem. . .after we are the ones that will be accused of hate and pride.

Who would have thought the Hawks would give Celtics a tough time. Am beginning to have second thoughts about the celtics getting to the final.
you know I was at one point last week too, then I remembered the time the ended houston's 22-game streak and coming back from 22 down to beat the champs, both on the road. . . atl was just a speed bump, a very annoying speed bump angry but I am optimistic, they've proven they can win tough games on the road cheesy I think the experience will strengthen the team and teach them never to underestimate any opponent.

You took the words out of my mouth i think its unfair to totally blame Avery for whats been happening. That Mark Cuban dude is really overdoing it i mean he practically sits on the team sbench sometimes i wonder why Avery did not include him in the team roster sef maybe he should apply for the vacant coaching position if he loves the team so much
LOL. . . Mark Cuban is annoying sometimes though. But I think some of the clamour is justifiable. The Mavs have excelled during the Reg season past couple yrs, but not the playoffs with the exception of the yr when they should have beaten Miami and won it all. Avery has to take a good chunk of the blame . . . not all of it, but a healthy portion of it. Left to me, I blame the players - they have no fire in their bellies.

J-girl,
cheesy I'm sorry my wish for revenge came true cheesy
I'm picking the pistons, Lakers and spurs (sorry smiley ) to win their series. Yes in spite of the beatdown the hornets gave the champs, I think they'll bounce back and make it interesting.

are u forgettin that Kobe is one of the most selfish basketball player in history. MVP deserves to go to someone who carried the team but also share the ball with his teamates. 1 person don't make a team.
girl trust me, I am the last person that needs reminding how Kobe's been notorious for not being a team player. As as person, I don't like the dude, never liked him and never will. But he will go down as one of the greatest players in history, and I think this season he's done well and does deserve the award. Left to me I'd give it to KG in a nano second - what he's does for Boston cannot be captured merely in stat sheets and numbers - he single-handedly transformed the whole team - the very definition of an mvp.

Lol. . . Arenas n co. have disgraced themselves - so far. If they lose tonight they should just go n bury their heads in the sand somewhere.

and haba how you fit say Kobe hasn't done anything? Coming from a boston fan (mortal enemies of any LA or NY team grin ) I think Kobe has earned it. He's played well and carried his team this season.
Girl, did you read the history of the Hornets? Scott deserved that award and so did Doc Rivers. Lakers have always been in the playoffs. They've always been one of the big teams.
For the Hornets to have even entered the Playoffs was a miracle. For them to finish 2nd in the western conference was another miracle, for them to beat Dallas mavs was one of the biggest miracles. Have you seen the finishes of the Hornets? In 2003 - we have a record of 18 games won and 64 games lost.
As payback - Kobe might get the MVP award. We're about to face the Spurs on Saturday. All we can do is pray for another miracle.
Don't get me wrong, yes Scott does def deserve credit. . . but not more than Doc. The greatest turn-around in NBA history in 1 season! doing it with a roster that's playing together in their first yr. And they finished with the best record in the NBA - 10 games better than the hornets. I don't know what those voters were smoking when they voted. I hear you the hornets have come a long way from past seasons - but the award is for accomplishments this season. I shall hold this grudge

Anyways. . . you def have to bring out those prayer mats cheesy . . . the Spurs will be tough to beat. I thot the Suns would have done better against them.
Christianity EtcRe: Does The New Testament Completely Rule Out The Significance Of The Old Testament by JeSoul(f): 6:51pm On Apr 30, 2008
I think those who simply focus on the NT are missing out on a whole lot. There's so much to be learned from the OT, couple of which are the many prophecies made in the OT we see fulfilled in the NT. How would we know unless we read the OT?
There are many stories of the miracles and wonders that God did. We see a side of God and the greatness of His power in stories like the crossing of the red sea, the great flood, the plauges, the battles, making the sun stand still and go back etc . . .we have a glimpse in the OT to a God beyond imagination.
One of the greatest points is that we see the difference between the old covenant and the new one we have through Jesus Christ. The purpose of the Law was to show us our need for Jesus. Thus having a knowledge of the past and how things were, we can better understand and appreciate what Jesus did for us on the cross. We are under grace as made possible by the death of Christ. . . a very different and an infinitely better system than the old folks had.

there are many more points but I'm sure my fellow NLder's will add them.

The quote from ur scripture is below.
You said I am misunderstanding it, then please in all your wisdom explain what this verse means and is teaching huh That is all I am asking.

Tobit 6:5-7, "Then the angel said to him: Take out the entrails of this fish, and lay up his heart, and his gall, and his liver for thee: for these are necessary for useful medicines. 6 And when he had done so, he roasted the flesh thereof, and they took it with them in the way: the rest they salted as much as might serve them, till they came to Rages the city of the Medes. 7 Then Tobias asked the angel, and said to him: I beseech thee, brother Azarias, tell me what remedies are these things good for, which thou hast bid me keep of the fish? 8 And the angel, answering, said to him: If thou put a little piece of its heart upon coals, the smoke thereof driveth away all kind of devils, either from man or from woman, so that they come no more to them."

please please please - explain how the smoking of a fish can possibly drive out demons/evil?

I also noticed that you didn't speak on the other lies.
you have not finished answering one question and you want to dive into the others. . . let us take things one step at a time. I could but I'm hesitant to go into all that just yet, just prove to me you can answer my very simple question above, then we can progress into the other issues.

funny, you quoted the verses, sure you did, but the verses are still saying the same thing the poster said! my dear Imhotep,
this is why it is so difficult and frustrating discussing with you. You've regressed to mentioning Martin Luther and sola this and that when ALL you had to do was respond to the points I raised.
Martin Luther is the source of all this.
I don't care about ML, lets just leave him out and discuss the bible as it is! That's really all I want to do. Not delve into what was said or done or implied or taught in the past, but simply in the scriptures as we see it today. Abi we self we don't have the God-given brains to read, decipher and understand?

I only said that you should not rejoice too early. There are many many many other passages. Take a look at bawomolo's thread for starters.
please, Bawo's thread is a joke. Infact this is a perfect case to apply the words of Prv 26:5 - answer not a fool according to his folly. wink
Besides I have no desire to "discuss" those kinds of topics with an unbeliever. The bible says in 1 Cor 2: 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

This is Bawomolo's greatest problem, that's why any discussion with him has been and will prove pointless.

Please don't, my dear sister. What and what do you find impossible?
Your responses to questions honey. You don't directly focus on the words that are said but reply with either another point or another question. :-x makes it hard to bring up an issue and follow thru to the end. I tire oh! smiley I have only so much time to steal while at work to surf NL.

Well the other books that remain are considered contradictory to those who are not in the spirit (atheist muuslims) not so?
I'm glad you used the word "considered" in your statement.
I challenge you to post ANY verses from the 66 books of the bible that contradict each other and let us iron them out.

Well since the poster posted Scripture, Imhotep decided to post scripture to refute or ridicule the thinking of the poster.
Then you all jump on to say that scripture doesn't contradict itself. Well that is Imhotep's point.
No that is NOT imhotep's point. Did you not read the part he said about sola scriptura? was it not he who provided the link I posted that the Catholic church DOES NOT believe in the inerrancy of scripture? Does thou not know what your own church believes?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_consistency_and_the_Bible.

The words in those seven books are no different from the rest of the Bible. It supports it.
Wrong! they are VERY different!
your tobit teaches we should smoke fish intestines to drive away evil spirits.
your sirach teaches the wickedness of a man is worse than a womans good. etc. . .

HOW IN THE WORLD DOES THIS NONSENSE NOT CONTRADICT THE BIBLE?

Basically after reading the posts, I notice that a lot of people who have posted, have posted out of hatred (as in they see a thread that will give them a chance to bash and they join the bandwagon without looking into the issue) or they are not in the spirit.
It was only a matter of time before you mentioned "hatred"

@JeSoul

Have you read the books you condemn? Muuslims condemn the Bible without reading it. Even if they read it they don't understand it. Well, you claim to be in the spirit. My dear, read the books and tell me it contradicts the Bible as a whole.
I have posted your verses above,
Now you show me anywhere in the 66 books of the bible that contradict each other.
The only contradictions (as wacky and crazy as they are) are in your catholic canon.

People the Bible doesn't contradict itself. Go and read the books. Imhotep is not trying to show that the Bible contradicts itself, but that it is taken out of context.
oh really? how in the world can this be taken out of context?
Tobit 6:5-8: If the Devil, or an evil spirit troubles anyone, they can be driven away by making a smoke of the heart, liver, and gall of a fish, and the Devil will smell it, and flee away, and never come again anymore.

That is EXACTLY the point. Imhotep is showing how ridiculous it is that the poster, picked one verse without looking at the bigger picture.
Then please Lady in all your wondrous wisdom, and view of the big picture, explain what this verse means:
Tobit 6:5-8: If the Devil, or an evil spirit troubles anyone, they can be driven away by making a smoke of the heart, liver, and gall of a fish, and the Devil will smell it, and flee away, and never come again anymore.
