you're right but some people don't like to go to the downtowns or major cities because (this is just me personally) you don't get actual feel of the state/places. i haven't been to every city in the US, but most of the big cities are alike but if you go out side the city than you get to see the "actual" place for what it is. and sometimes that is how outsiders get the decieved, because in pamplets they pretty much show the city side so it looks all cool and what not but when they go there and travel everywhere, its not all that. but i think if anyone travels, it should be balance, see the good and not so good places.
well I think that's true to an extent. I love the downtowns of cities and I would beg to differ that they're all alike, I think they're quite different, culturally, archetechurally and general overall vibe. Some are more laid back and easy going, others are hyper and fast paced. Some are extremely diverse and others are more just generally "american".
But u are right when u say the rest of the areas could be drastically different from downtown. I remember telling a friend how I loved Philly and it was so lively and clean and organized and easy to get around n do stuff and she just laughed n said - "you must have stayed only downtown" smiley

onyinye2:
downtown houston is known mostly for shopping or going to a Rockets game. but the city has so much to offer. if you take the time to look around.
Yes I did have fun at the game, it was actually the highlite of the trip. If I'm ever in houston again, I'm asking you for the places to go. . .  smiley

Bossman:
OK, something needs to be clarified. I see quite a few cities mentioned here. but most of them are not tourists cities at all. For example Houston, Atlanta, Raleigh etc. Those are not tourists cities like NY, Chicago, San Fran, etc. Those places do not have any kind of downtown presence at all. After certain times the downtown is dead! What you can use to determine a big city downtown is if they have a major transportation system (rail, bus. cab) into/out of the city. For example in NY, Chicago, for every 10 cars you see downtown you will see 5-6 cabs. These cities have extensive rail system that links the suburbs. So, you need to consider all those factors in determining where to go.
Bossman that's a great point! I think u said it perfectly, some cities are tourist cities and others are not. But I guess it depends on what the person is looking for - n I def more on the tourist side.

Later found a place called 'italian restorante' n the food was ok.

as for SF, i'm not sure but if you do a little research online i'm sure you'll find something interesting. cali is not as old as the east coast so they may not have a lot of historic places to visit (but i could be wrong). but i'm sure the beach will be a good place to check out.

So far Chicago has been my fav city and I totally hated Washington dc and Houston lipsrsealed (sorry if u live there)
sorry. lipsrsealed
Houston seemed particularly boring, especially the architecture. And maybe its just the time I was there but it seems like a lazy (for lack of a better word) city to me, I hunted around for hours on a saturday morning trying to find something decent to eat - downtown! they weren't open yet. I'm used to 24hr dennys' and 5am Dunkins'.
and the stores were so plain, nuthin unique. And in a conversation I had with a guy on the bus when I told him I was just visiting, he looked at me bewildered and asked "why would u want to come out here? there's nuthin out here"

Bossman:
Have you tried New York. It will be somewhat similar to Chicago, however on a larger scale. It's has a bubbling/happening downtown like Chicago, and a lot to do. it definitely will not be as clean as chicago though.  Actually, there are very few cities (if any) in the US that will have the kind of skyline/architecture Chicago has.
Been to NY couple times as its only 3-4 hrs from boston. and the only thing I love about it is the street food vendors smiley.
Waaay too busy and too tight n too many rude people. But yeah u right in that there are a lotta things to do there. But as for architecture I think Chicago is worlds away from NY - which is mostly just super tall buildings n fancy billboards.

what about Miami and Vegas? Again thosea are OK cities and unique in their own way, but totally different from Chicago. San Francisco is good too. You should just check online. Each US city has something to offer.
Anytime I think vegas all that comes to mind is casinos. Is there much else?
Miami is def an option although I haven't read much on what's up down there besides the obvious. Besides I hate to travel to a yr-rd warn weather city in the summer, like to save those for the winter time.

Thanks everyone for your contributions so far.

I have lost much respect for Phil Jackson - first whinning about Pierce that he faked the injury and now complaining about referees and foul calls? hissess. . . how about if he taught his team to actually play defense in the post instead of hacking down the celtic guys when they drive into the lane. Its not the Celtics fault Gasol is soft, Odom is inconsistent n the laker team is by large a jump shooting team - u don't get foul calls playing like that.
Plus see the way Powe took the ball coast to coast, drove in and dunked while 3 lakers stood under the rim looking at him all the way from half court - no one stepped up to take a charge or defend their rim. Or Rondo at 6'1 blocking a 6'10 guy - good ol phil should be more worried about those.

plus we did not hear Phil complaining during the Jazz series when the lakers took 43 fouls shots compared to Utahs 16.   how dare he come n complain after that?
People should just shut up and play/coach and when u lose move on and retain your integrity.  tongue

wait for the DVD of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull  .
-Below average storyline/plot
-Sometimes funny but not engaging/exciting action scenes
-Very predictable

My guy is an indiana jones fanatic n had been counting down the days to the premiere and he fell asleep during the movie! smiley
it almost seemed like the producers didn't put in enough effort to come up with a good plot, it seemed to me they were relying on the past history and success of the Indy Jones series to bolster up this new entry. I give it a 5 of 10. If this had been just another movie (without the indiana jones history) it woulda flopped n sputtered out of theatres.

HealthRe: Microwave And Your Food by JeSoul(f): 7:17pm On Jun 05, 2008
uhm sorry to break it to ya'll but it is NOT true.

see the FDA website for their take on this
http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/2002/602_plastic.html

The story by ruky above is simply an urban legend. See the links below:

http://www.plasticsmythbuster.org/dioxins.asp
http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/d/dioxins.htm
http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl-microwave-dioxin.htm

Microwave Madness: The Dish on Dioxins

Rumor
Using plastics in the microwave creates dioxins that can migrate into food.

Status
Baloney!

Origins
Versions of this e-mail hoax have been circulating for years. (The station number and call letters vary from region to region.)

Be on the look out for:
Subject: Info for the Health Conscious
Subject2: Passing on Healthy Info

I just wanted to pass some information on to you. I was watching Channel 2 this morning. They had a Dr. Edward Fujimoto from Castle Hospital on the program. He is the manager of the Wellness Program at the hospital. He was talking about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat and plastics releases dioxins into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Dioxins are carcinogens and highly toxic to the cells of our bodies.

Instead, he recommends using glass, Corning Ware, or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results without the dioxins. So such things as TV dinners, instant saimin and soups, etc. should be removed from the container and heated in something else.

Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. Just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He said we might remember when some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Pass this on to your friends."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

What You Should Know
The claim that plastic food wraps and containers can release dioxins in the microwave oven is misleading. First, the vast majority of plastics used in food wraps and packaging containers do not contain the chemical constituents that can form dioxins. Second, dioxins are a family of compounds that are produced by combustion at high temperatures. They can only be formed during combustion at temperatures typically above 700 degrees Fahrenheit. In other words, even if all of the constituents were present, you also would need to have a very hot fire in your microwave oven, in which case you probably wouldn’t eat the food anyway.

According to FDA, “With regard to dioxins, we have seen no evidence that plastic containers or films contain dioxins and know of no reason why they would.”

we guys just generally like been free, and those that talk to ladies in boxers have no such hidden intentions, its just kind of a guy thing. i still can't believe that ladies are moved by seeing a guy in boxers, except its a guy she sleeps with or is in love with or a lady who just has sexual imaginations when she is around a boxer wearing guy.

So my dear poster, u can't use this as a basis for saying gues dress indecent.
You can perform a live practical, let a lady with pant and bra and a guy with boxers take a walk in a busy street and see the amount of guys or gals that we get aroused, in fact the will see the guy as giong mad, while we will see the almost naked lady as,
