you're right but some people don't like to go to the downtowns or major cities because (this is just me personally) you don't get actual feel of the state/places. i haven't been to every city in the US, but most of the big cities are alike but if you go out side the city than you get to see the "actual" place for what it is. and sometimes that is how outsiders get the decieved, because in pamplets they pretty much show the city side so it looks all cool and what not but when they go there and travel everywhere, its not all that. but i think if anyone travels, it should be balance, see the good and not so good places.
well I think that's true to an extent. I love the downtowns of cities and I would beg to differ that they're all alike, I think they're quite different, culturally, archetechurally and general overall vibe. Some are more laid back and easy going, others are hyper and fast paced. Some are extremely diverse and others are more just generally "american". But u are right when u say the rest of the areas could be drastically different from downtown. I remember telling a friend how I loved Philly and it was so lively and clean and organized and easy to get around n do stuff and she just laughed n said - "you must have stayed only downtown" ![]() onyinye2:Yes I did have fun at the game, it was actually the highlite of the trip. If I'm ever in houston again, I'm asking you for the places to go. . . ![]() |
Bossman:Bossman that's a great point! I think u said it perfectly, some cities are tourist cities and others are not. But I guess it depends on what the person is looking for - n I def more on the tourist side. SeanT21:okay so NYkers are not rude, they're just impatient, loud, obnoxious, always in a hurry, disrespectful etc. ![]() I was there just 2weeks ago and in that short time I was called a racist n not supporting black people for not buying some tickets being hawked by some afro-amer guys, - another guy called me n my bf heartless for not contributing to his charity - I was stepped on countless times without a single apology - some liberian guys tired to shove some fake prada bags in my face - The drivers are incredibly reckless and inconsiderate it made me appreciate boston 100x more. . . want me to continue? ![]() |
can u tell I can't stand sour losers? You did not hear any of the Spurs crying about the brent barry call, instead the coach even said "it was the right call". I am glad though Kobe did not follow suit with Jackson n whine. much respect. Let ur game do your talking son. |
you didn't have to look for anything because there's nothing there (atlease that doesn't interest me). if you are looking for a really nice place to eat that isn't mcdonald than let just say you better be loaded on cash.
lol, its funny I finally ended up at a wendy's but had to wait so long I gave up and left. Later found a place called 'italian restorante' n the food was ok. as for SF, i'm not sure but if you do a little research online i'm sure you'll find something interesting. cali is not as old as the east coast so they may not have a lot of historic places to visit (but i could be wrong). but i'm sure the beach will be a good place to check out.cool thanks. |
onyinye2: JeSoul:sorry. ![]() Houston seemed particularly boring, especially the architecture. And maybe its just the time I was there but it seems like a lazy (for lack of a better word) city to me, I hunted around for hours on a saturday morning trying to find something decent to eat - downtown! they weren't open yet. I'm used to 24hr dennys' and 5am Dunkins'. and the stores were so plain, nuthin unique. And in a conversation I had with a guy on the bus when I told him I was just visiting, he looked at me bewildered and asked "why would u want to come out here? there's nuthin out here" Bossman:Been to NY couple times as its only 3-4 hrs from boston. and the only thing I love about it is the street food vendors .Waaay too busy and too tight n too many what about Miami and Vegas? Again thosea are OK cities and unique in their own way, but totally different from Chicago. San Francisco is good too. You should just check online. Each US city has something to offer.Anytime I think vegas all that comes to mind is casinos. Is there much else? Miami is def an option although I haven't read much on what's up down there besides the obvious. Besides I hate to travel to a yr-rd warn weather city in the summer, like to save those for the winter time. Thanks everyone for your contributions so far. |
If the Lakers where not unlucky last night then i don't know what unlucky is i mean they had a 31-9 rally and it still wasnt good enough when these things happen sometimes you wonder if its meant to be.I still see the Lakers winning all three games at home though
unlucky ke? they were lucky the Celtics relaxed n let them back into the game. I have lost much respect for Phil Jackson - first whinning about Pierce that he faked the injury and now complaining about referees and foul calls? hissess. . . how about if he taught his team to actually play defense in the post instead of hacking down the celtic guys when they drive into the lane. Its not the Celtics fault Gasol is soft, Odom is inconsistent n the laker team is by large a jump shooting team - u don't get foul calls playing like that. Plus see the way Powe took the ball coast to coast, drove in and dunked while 3 lakers stood under the rim looking at him all the way from half court - no one stepped up to take a charge or defend their rim. Or Rondo at 6'1 blocking a 6'10 guy - good ol phil should be more worried about those. plus we did not hear Phil complaining during the Jazz series when the lakers took 43 fouls shots compared to Utahs 16. how dare he come n complain after that? People should just shut up and play/coach and when u lose move on and retain your integrity. ![]() |
The Suns sef don get new coach
they did? didn't hear about it. Who is it? |
onyinye2:wow so many Boston haters anyways we shall overcome! What we are seeing is offence vs. Defense. I like the fact all those "nba/sports analysts" are now biting their words after predicting lakers in 6. And to quote Jon Barry "in all 4 games the Lakers n Celtics have played Kobe has struggled from the field, I don't call that coincidence, I call it a trend" - that was classic.Unless the Lakers suddenly decide they want to play some D, this series will be over quickly- n that will be fine by me. |
don't worry, washington dc is not all that it is hyped up to be. about 1/5 or less of the whole city is nice every where else is crappy.
yeah it seemed like beyond downtown n all the historic stuff there wasn't much else. I found it very hard to also find something like a "food district" with all kinds of restaurants n stuff. . .was it that I didn't look at the right places/areas? maybe for your next vacation, you should try san francisco. i havent been there but almost everyone i've talked to loved it and you won't be overwhelmed with the east coast humidity. they have nice weather all year round and even though its hot, it not like miserably hot.thanks girl. Do you know what's out there to see/do in SanFran? I'm betting the beaches would be the major attraction but besides that know of anything else? thanks. |
What's up people, I'm hoping to get some ideas. I try to take vacations to random cities twice a year and I need ideas on cities to visit that have a lot of things to do and places to see as well as natural scenery. Any suggestions? maybe ur city? So far Chicago has been my fav city and I totally hated Washington dc and Houston (sorry if u live there) |
salsera:Prince of Egypt baby4u2, thank you for those songs! Shine Jesus Shine is on my top 10 all time fav songs |
let me save you guys $10, wait for the DVD of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull . -Below average storyline/plot -Sometimes funny but not engaging/exciting action scenes -Very predictable My guy is an indiana jones fanatic n had been counting down the days to the premiere and he fell asleep during the movie! it almost seemed like the producers didn't put in enough effort to come up with a good plot, it seemed to me they were relying on the past history and success of the Indy Jones series to bolster up this new entry. I give it a 5 of 10. If this had been just another movie (without the indiana jones history) it woulda flopped n sputtered out of theatres. |
![]() savanaha:it is scary isn't it. ![]() sometimes I feel like when I have kids I will raise them on a deserted island. The fast declining state of morality is frightening! and shame on Beyonce and her mum and co. . . with all their power they should be doing the community good and influencing girls positively and empowering them with education but no teach them to dress like sluts and prostitutes! I have a word for them Mark 9:42 "And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck. |
SeanT21:well I guess they wouldn't suck if they had him. . . anyways I don't see how anyone in their right mind would go to the knicks, unless they were being paid a truckload of cash and Lebron doesn't need cash, he's got more than enuff. Good thing is it's the quest for a championship that drives him - but I still won't rule out him becoming a knickerbocker - the glitz, glam and traffic jams of NY are irresistable to some. |
SeanT21:next season ke? hehe girl I hate to rain on ur parade but if the Cavs make no significant changes, they are not getting anywhere next yr. Other eastern conf teams will get noticeably better such as Chicago and Atl and Orlando. I even see something into the rumors Lebron will relocate to NY and join his buddy jay-z in a few short yrs ![]() |
uhm sorry to break it to ya'll but it is NOT true. see the FDA website for their take on this http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/2002/602_plastic.html The story by ruky above is simply an urban legend. I been no know say blood dey una body cux some go see that kind thing and act like say na water she dey use! Now its pay back time! Ino go ever wear cloth for babes present again! even if I dey dressed them come, I go go room go comot everything and wear only boxer! make them see as e dey be
Jeovy:LOL, una no well ![]() |
hisses. . .so they have nuthin better to do? I guess we should not be suprised the country still drowns in troubles, this is what the leaders spend their time "deliberating". . . |
okukume:wow I'm really very suprised to hear a lot of guys saying they didn't think women are attracted visually by male bodies okukume, i will never never wear boxers around the house again. you know it is always better to avoid temptation because as far as i am concerned the only way to avoid temptation is to succumb to itkudos to you brotha! something good has been accomplished by this post ![]() Now other christian men, pls follow suit if you have women living or visiting u at ur house. |
ehie007: Seun:Abeg help me ask him oh. ![]() ehie007, perhaps the guy does it innocently but it doesn't matter. I don't have to be in love with a guy to be physically attracted to him. Christian men also have a responsibility to cover up and not tempt the ladies. It goes both ways. |
tulk2mi:LOL. . .good luck with the jerry curls n push ups. |
SeanT21:Detriot was able to pull one off though. But the fact is anything can happen in the playoffs. It just depends on who wants it more, the lakers or the Celtics. |
@Jesoul Dont get too excited.Remember the Giants lol.
hehe remember the Red Sox? P.S: Is anyone watching the Stanley Cup finals. The Penguins narrowly escaped last night doyin13:I thot I was the only one! I've tried to watch hockey and the puck is harder to find than bigfoot. Plus it is sucha savage game, all that fighting, bleeding all over the place, if it were black men in the game they woulda been called thugs but becos they're white. . . |
joomiegal:LOL, dagg girl you had me rolling on that one , I have been there before . I think the guys r just not aware that women can also be tempted visually. Though not nearly as much as guys are. so christian men here you have heard joomiegal - watch your dressing (or lack of it) too! |
omoge:I took some kids to BK yesterday and tried those things and it was so bland . . . never again . Anyways one must never expect much from anything that comes off the dollar menu |
MyTempID:I will be hoping for Odom to revert to thugishness and get kicked out of a game or 2 . The trophy was painted Green this yr since the Garnett trade .Plus what do ya'll think about the new 7game schedule? it's Games 1 - 2 in Boston, then 3 - 5 in LA, then 6 -7 in Boston. I'm not sure which team this favors more but I would say if they go the max 7-games, it def works towards the Celtics. |
I am once again planning to attend the inevitable parade that will happening downtown Boston in a few weeks ![]() doyin13:Why do you think it won't be a good series? is it becos the Celtics will let Kobe be but demolish the rest of the LA squad? ![]() |
sheniqua:ehen now. . .that's my point. It's the way[b] you cook it, not the way mama jide does it. |
TOH:ROTFL. |
sheniqua:LOL. . . even with their olive and canola oil, more and more millions of people still have high cholesterol here cos they still don't control their diets. I since have become accustomed to using tomatoes to redden my soups and add just a spoon of palmoil and it tastes just right as long as okporoko (stockfish) deyRice without salt? I cannot boast of that yet. . . I still like my salt. I tried using that accent low sodium whatever instead and could not eat the food. I just watch how much I eat to offset it. |
sheniqua:so you sef how do you cook your naija food? no be the same way? My entire family grew up on naija food, yet none of them are fat, and are all healthy. It wasn't until we moved here my sis put on some extras. |
TOH:1% ke? ha me I cannot drink those things oh. . . even the whole milk, those poor cows have undergone so much genetic 'modification' the milk is not even real anymore. TOH:me I like my puffpuff & you're right you can't control it BUT you can control the type of oil and how much of it you eat! especially when you're not the one that cooked it. our people are not familiar with the word moderation. |
