InesQor:Thanks Inesqor! Now I have one fewer excuse, your google somehow pass my google. Funny enough I have actually been regularly using Putlocker/sockshare/gorillavid etc for a while now. Inesqor you go vex for me small . . . I was in your backyard recently ![]() |
Much is being made of the bad belle between Newt & Mitt . . . . but do we all have collective amnesia? Theirs is not even close to the oscar-grammy-SAG award-winning drama that unsued between Obama & Hillary just 3yrs ago. Much like there is no honor among thieves - there is no friendship amongst politicians. Alliances and rivalries are forged on the oath of 'you scratch my back, I scratch yours'. Enemies today will quickly become bedfellows tomorrow as long the relationship is mutually beneficial to both. If Romney got into office, Newt would be in the cabinet somewhere. Anyways . . . Trump's endorsement doesn't mean much, at all. Newt shouldn't worry though, he has Herman Cain's support . . . birds of the same feather will always flock together.
Out of the pack, Santorum seems to be the most intelligent and capable of taking on Obama on a debate and he has clearly defined plans for different parts of the economy but rather extreme views when it comes to religion, morals and other areas that concern liberals, worst of all, he's broke .
Hmmm . . . we must both be watching different Santorums. The one I have been seeing . . . in a debate, Obama will eat him for lunch, crack, chew & then spit out the bones |
aletheia:Yup Schindler's List. Dare had recommended it to me a while back on a "movies & spirituality" thread. I'm yet to see it ![]() |
I'm seeing the picture, but I'm not believing my eyes If there were to be an emergency evacuation, I'm not sure which will be safer, the disaster scene or aboard that plane ![]() pendo89:Lol. The pilots (assuming there are at least two to begin with) are probably sitting on each others lap, with their own luggage on the seat beside them. |
dare2think:Oga I still never see am oh imagine infact its been a long time since I've watched anything. Plus I couldn't find it online at my usual 'free movie' sites . . . *sigh* I will get to it . . . at some point ![]() |
davidylan:That shouldn't be necessary as I do not believe it is appropriate for "women to teach/usurp authority over a man" . . . at least not in the manner that you/other proponents appear to understand it. I have no problem with Paul's directives, they were perfectly within order. I simply believe whatever accords appropriate respect for spiritual authority, brings order & harmony in the church and glory & honor to God - is the message of that scripture, and not the particular mechanics - as this will change and be different accross different cultures, times & dispensations. Others have already proffered contextual/historical/cultural reasons towards this stance. Cheers bro . |
Ndipe:Uhm, that was a joke. I was trying (and apparently failing) to be funny with the 'biblical typo' line. Image123:Lol. Irrelevant distinctions. If I'm not good enough to teach or speak on the sabbath why shouldd I be good enough on a non-sabbath? Next time, just marsh it and say 'sorry'. Let brotherly love continue ni.Hehe . . . I no go marsh jor. If pesin wan continue to dey kill cats, I go just waka by and lef them be ![]() |
dalaman:Well, I'm sorry you miss the point and no problem if that's the conclusion you reached. I place the highest of emphasis & value on the life & teachings of Jesus Christ. Cheers. Image123:Una talk say women no suppose talk or teach men now that's why I restrict myself accordingly I no wan step on any religious toes. But either way happy new snr brotha .Pastor AIO:Biblical typo. |
^my point is quite simple dekung - and I suspect you understand it very well ![]() He simply knew it was the 'custom/tradition' to kill a cat during the service. So the ritualistic killing of a cat became part of every service - instead of a means to preserve & protect the service. So instead of the new priest to go behind the custom, understand its purpose and then modify the instruction to say "kill any animal that disturbs & disrupts the service" he continues to kill cats just because it is what the priests before him did. I want us to ask ourselves, how much of our christian beliefs & rules are simply empty, purposeless, ritualistic killing of cats? actions that have long lost the original meaning for which it was intended? |
manmustwac:Lol. The guy say na home/front page he want now lol. bunmioguns:Done sir. |
Thread cleaned by me. Please carry on cordially kids. Dare2think, I'm not sure I've greeted you happy new year yet @topic, there's this story someone posted in this section a while back. I don't remember it exactly word for word but I'll paraphrase and give my understanding/version/spin of it: There was a priest in a temple who would officiate the services. Everytime there was a service a cat would always interrupt and disrupt the flow. The priest fed up instructed his helper to kill any cat that disrupted the service. Over time it became a regular occurence that a cat had to be routinely killed every service to prevent disruptions. Soon after the priest passed away, and the next one passed away, and the next one . . . etc. Soon enough the cat population dwindled to a point it wasn't such a problem to the services anymore but further down the line a new priest took over who didn't know the reason why the original priest(s) had been routinely killing cats. He simply knew it was the 'custom/tradition' to kill a cat during the service. So the ritualistic killing of a cat became part of every service - instead of a means to preserve & protect the service.I believe christianity today - oftentimes in a genuine effort to honor scripture - continue to kill cats without understanding the reason why. When it came to women Jesus Himself broke all the rules, radically doing things with women that were socially & religiously taboo. We want to stand firm and ritualistically follow "new testament" directives, but so easily forget that these directives must not be incompatible with the great example Jesus Himself set. Both Jesus & Paul got it exactly right - it is we today that have it wrong. |
This topic would be better suited for the Foreign affairs section I think. Anyways, I prefer Gingrich's plan of focusing on deporting the criminal elements . . . I think if a president focuses on this aspect it will go a long way in changing public perception and attitude. |
Logic Mind:There's this tribe (sorry can't recall the name now) somewhere in the Amazon jungle where it is custom for a surviving relative to eat the corpse of a deceased- in order to consume their 'essence'. To me this is worse than necrophilia, yet it is/was a common thing in their society. I will argue though, that there is a certain universality to what we humans consider moral/immoral. By that I mean that while I hold that societies draw out their own 'moral' lines, those who would consider such behavior okay would be in the very small minority of the human race - both past & present. As such I think an argument can be made that in the big picture, even though they considered it okay, when placed against the context of the rest of humanity, it would be truly 'immoral'. The issue of morality has several layers . . . personal, societal and universal. It is dissappointing that this is being compared to homosexuality in such manner as to degrade and insult homosexuals or their proponents.I think it would be making a mistake to consider morals a 'religious' attribute. It is rather a human one. And as far as I've seen no one has 'degraded or insulted homosexuals and their proponents'. It is not homosexuality itself that is being compared to necrophilia - but rather the argument used in favor of homosexuality is strikingly similar to that used in support of of necrophilia. So why is one accepted & the other not? |
@JeSoul, We thank God, we thank God. I trust everything is well in your corner of the world as well.
Glad you're doing well . I thank God too, my corner is just splendid. The Lord is too good.Kai, to think you just wished Pre-elect a very conservative year only to turn around and say you will be voting Obama. You asked about my faith earlier, how is yours?!Haha! Nice one . I tire for the tired options they're parading in front of us. A man who has never kept a vow in his life, another who cannot make up his mind on what he believes, another who is too old and flaky to make any real difference and the last who is thoroughly uninspiring despite his best efforts. Might as well save all that money, skip the general elections and give the 2nd term to Obama already . . . cos I honestly don't see him losing against any of the current crop of selection that we have - even as weak as he is now. Is this seriously the best the Right can come up with? seriously? Let the Republican establishment not think that they can slap a conservative label on any damaged package and automatically expect conservatives/independents to vote for them - I will express my sentiments about that by the way I vote. Besides, Michelle Obama is my girl jor . . . ![]() |
Lol @ the contributions. While beef/fights bring in views, posts & interest, good topics also bring in views, posts & interest. Its up to the regular postsers to post your own travel local or abroad stories & pictures and inject life to the section. I have really enjoyed most the picture threads in this section and those of local experiences in their own cities. |
It says try not to laugh and you guys are laughing freely ![]() Why did she keep trying to walk? lol. She should've just taken off the shoes instead of that painful display. Poor girl. You fellas should know its not easy wearing heels you know ![]() |
^thanks Sir Kay that is very nice of you. I've saved your contact and will definitely be in touch. Thanks again! ![]() |
Uncle Tayo, Happy New Year sir . Hope body, family & faith are all in excellent condition.Prez happy new year to you too. I hope you've been staying out of trouble? I wish you a very conservative 2012 ![]() Dayokanu how body now? good job with the updates on the thread. dayokanu:LOL. Gosh I just love hearing quotes from gov christie Lol. @topic, if Newt or Romney end up being the candidate, I will be voting for Obama. While Newt may be debating well, I do not find him believable for one second and Romney is simply a shadow playing the role. |
MeJoe I personally look forward to seeing some of those juicy posts from you this year, hope I shan't be disappointed ![]() |
Sir Kay:Awesome thanks! I'm keeping an open mind/eye for the future and saw the language as the only possible barrier. Your story is encouraging. Thanks! |
Macavelius, wassup brother? your thread belongs in the crime section. Thanks. |
frosbel:Lol. I am squarely on your side as your mod - the real question is are you on my side? When you make my job difficult by fighting, inciting negative emotions, opening endless threads etc. We're receiving so many complaints about you and Lagosshia. It would be really appreciated if you kept love & respect for others at the forefront when you post - especially as I personally hold the christians in this section to a higher standard than others but you're not my side if you continue to be a problem. And as I've always said, feel free to post your topics - just do so within the rules "right section, respect others and don't incite or provoke etc" and you and me will be best of friends |
Nice input from Godfather. 1Godfather:Nice arguments. I'm afraid they might be quickly countered by this - what if a person before they pass away gave full and unrestricted access to a necro? much like people donate their bodies for medical research and end up as cadavars, with pieces of their body displayed in jars. That is an otherwise reprehensible action that has been permitted by the owner of the body. |
Uyi Iredia:Jesus once spat in the mud and then rubbed it on a blind man's eye and he was healed. While there is biblical precedence for otherwise strange behavior done in the name faith, I honestly believe scepticism should be the default reaction of every christian to the vast majority of those claiming to be "exercising their faith". And its easy to tell if they were pardon my french, BS-ing the whole time - what was the result? did she rise from the dead? Genuine faith grounded by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit will always produce a result - not just whip up an emotional frenzy and then die off. Uyi Iredia:Lol. Don't worry. They never fail to show for a good tussle ![]() |
Deep Sight:Exactly right I think. If a necro does it in the middle of the amazon jungle on corpse of which no one cares or remembers, it doesn't affect anyone, or any society but the necro him/herself - but he/she still has God to answer to - a God whom I hope we agree whose measuring stick does change or adjust according to human leanings. One of the foremost bullet-points used in the argument for homosexuality is that they are not 'harming' or 'hurting' anyone else so therefore its okay. Certain actions 'hurt' the collective sensitivity of a society, sometimes enough for the society to institure laws against it - part of what I meant by societies determining what is/is not moral for themselves. Uyi Iredia:Nicely put in this paragraph, though I would adjust that to say "a good portion of humans subscribe" rather than "almost all humans subscribe". |
JeSoul: Deep Sight: Uyi Iredia:I should re-phrase: an action/behavior is immoral to the extent a/the society - and I'm approaching this moreso from a societal view than a personal one. What is immoral for me is certainly not determined by the opinions of >51% of my society. And DS, your second sentence, I don't disagree with.Long time though. How's life coming along.Life is coming along just wonderfully, we thank God for undeserved mercies. And I hope yours has been beyond expectations . |
Deep Sight:I couldn't share this belief more. Having said that: let us assume, only for the sake of principled debate (in order to set out the boundaries of morality lucidly) - let us assume - that the dead body - is what it appears to be - a completely lifeless vessel that has no effect whatsoever on either the soul that inhabited it, or its evironment. The act certainly does not physically harm anyone else, but does an act have to be physically hurtful in nature in order to be 'harmful'? our courts make room for those as well. |
Nice info from everyone, things for me to keep in mind too for future africa vacations. Roforofo, SirKay knows much more about the local hotels, I was just a tourist while he lives there so his info is sound. Have fun on your vacation, its great you're exposing your children to different cultures/countries, I think that is one of the most vital things you can do for a child - to travel & open their minds & expand their horizons. Sir Kay:Just curious, how did/do you manage with the language difference? or where you stay is more english than ga/twi? thanks! |
My my, that is one disturbed woman. Anyways, an action/behavior is immoral to the extent a/the society defines. What is scandalous in one part of the world is perfectly normal in another. The part you highlighted is eerily similar to the argument used to argue in favor of homosexuality. If anything, it shows us the problem of accepting otherwise suspect behavior solely on the basis of "its make me feel good" & "its who I am, I can't change it". |
Sir Kay:Nice! Cool info. If the poster ends up choosing Ghana I'm sure you'll be a great resource for him and his family. I ended up spending much of my time outside of Accra seeing places like Elmina, the village on the water etc. While most took hours to get to honestly the roads were in excellent condition to my suprise. And even when leaving some of those places very late we still felt relatively safe on the roads. You must be loving living in Ghana. Great country, welcoming people, charming culture, plenty of room to grow, but definitely headed in the right direction. |
