99% of Nairalanders.cannot.cling.Gwoza hills. This is the truth. I have climbed hills before. You get breathless after 50m

Why is Buratai in Gwoza?.
Gwoza is home of MOPOL training school. It was captured by Boko Haram at least twice but now secured. Some of those MOPOL and Police ATF being trained are going to Borno State to take over from some Nigerian Army formations.

From what I've gathered, the Federal Government has ordered 100 AutoKraz trucks, part of the requirement for this order is for Kraz to build in Nigeria.

This agreement with Proforce is part of the fulfilment of Kraz obligation to Nigeria.

If you have been following recent developments in Nigeria, you would see that the FG is patronizing from a lot of Nigerian companies. From the army, navy, air force and police who recently took delivery of 14 Nigerian made APCs for police special units.

The Federal government continues to patronise Proforce. In fact the second highest top level military officer in Nigeria, a Lt Gen like the Chief of Army Staff only recently paid Proforce a visit.

Deliveries are ongoing for the Nigerian army.

Let's see what 2020 brings.
What AutoKraz model/type are we buying?

The man is a FOOL. There is muslim Sunni (Saudi Arabia) and muslim Shiite (Iran). Traditional US policy is to balance the two against each other. Iran is Shiite and Iraq is also majority Shiite. If you put down Shiite in the Gulf region, you are strengthening Sunni.
Sunni by the way is ISIS.

Some of us christians are so scared of Islam as a corporate religion, we dont even know that there are differences and sensitivities and two Islams must be balanced.

Trump is another illiterate President like Bush and is adding mistakes upon mistakes by using layman gut feel instead of talking to experts and crafting strategy.

You need to change the way you think about politics. As far as I'm concerned and the majority of Nigerians, we don't have intelligent people in power and that is the bane of our struggle in this country.
You think if God saves Nigeria today and makes someone like AA President, the destiny of this country will not change for the better?
Nigeria has never had an un-intelligent person in power. Even Abacha was very intelligent and by the way a very very good business man.

Intelligence is not being bookish.
GEJ was not intelligent but he had PhD

The issue is MENTALITY not book knowledge or even work experience.

Sankara of Bourkina Faso for instance had good mentality but ordinary soldier.
Professor Busia of Uganda, good academic qualifications but poor mentality.

What prerequisite is needed to govern this country?
Most young Nigerian educated folk fall easily for TECHNOCRACY. I dont blame them. It is the mistake that technical skills equal leadership ability, passion, ideological fervour and love of country.

Let me mention a few names - Putin, Erdogan, Trump, Boris Johnson, Kagame, Modi of India.
Are these technocrats?. NO.
They are however symbols of some aspiration of a temporary majority of people. They are also perceived to love their countries more than the opponents, that is why they are in office.

These leaders employ technocrats and give them their requirements. The Sultans of UAE dont know more than Islamic injunctions but see what they built?. They bought everything with money. They loved their countries and adopted the attitude that nothing is too good for my country.

This craze for technocratic ministers is because of failings in the civil service of the FG and States.
I always say Nigerians should try to improve the quality of their civil service. Maybe then they will see that their problem wont be solved having techno ministers. The French civil service was almost the best in the world for 200 years due to good quality recruitment from the elite university called L'ecole Polytechnique. Who set all this up for France?. Probably General De Gaule and he was NOT a technocrat.
In fact De Gaule was a stubborn cranky old man BUT "I love my people, I want the betst for them " that was always his attitude even when France was under occupation by Germany.
Technocracy cannot give you that spirit.

My problem with western bred technocrats like Akinwunmi Adesina is that they buy into BS coming from International Financial institutions and aid agencies and usually are lacking in originality. They have ZERO local knowledge and will usually profer STUPID solutions - like saying the problem with Nigerian agriculture is fertilizer diversion so an IT system and phone app solves the problem. BULLSHIT.
Nigeria 's agriculture problem was complex from inputs to adulteration to lack of training to access to land to finance to lack of nechanization to lack of market access to spoilage et.c

One minister I currently admire is Amechi Rotimi. He is not a technocrat. BA in English. However is attitude is that of a model minister - " I want this for my country, I want it in two years, I want to be able to tell presido that the trains are running in 2020". SIMPLE.

President Kennedy- "we want to be in space by so and so year, What do you need?"

Akinwumi Adesina should be the President of this country. His innovative approach and record during his tenure in the agric ministry is unmatched. The emergence of Akinwumi will no doubt attract huge investment to Nigeria.
Nothing was achieved during his tenure in agric. Trust me, I know what I am talking about. I am into agriculture along with other things. As at 2014, the whole thing was in dis array.
So under him there was a lot of noise and flash but very little was happening.
in his final months in office, Nigeria was still importing lots of palm oil. Nigeria was almost doubling rice importation.

Only the Buhari regime has come to do the necessary DISRUPTION through temporary border closure to expose the causes of the problems.

I agree. That's why I say SU 57 is not a stealth aircraft. It is low observation profile aircraft with paint, radar jamming and some rudimentary stealth external profile. This aircraft would struggle to.be called 5th Gen.
The Chinese are actually closer to 5th Gen. capability with their J 20.

People should get real about Russia.
It is the worlds largest nuclear inventory holder, it probably still fields the largest number of tanks and its space technology / program is more reliable and robust than US.
However Russia is NOT a super power any more. It is a middle power in the same class as Turkey.

China and India have more bragging rights at eventually challenging US for world domination than Russia.
Thus is even.more true when.you look at emerging.technology adoption - AI, IoT, et.c

France is the security guarantor of all our Francofone neighbours. It doesn't matter if they have one, two or zero jets. When the chips are down, France will intervene.

France has bases in Niger Republic and Chad , these bases are just across the border.

During operations in Mali, France flew fighter jets directly from France, hit targets in Mali and flew back to France that same day. There are no targets they cannot hit in Nigeria.

The JF-17 does not provide us the security we need to pose a deterrent. We cannot defeat France in combat, what we need is a military that would cause so much damage to the attacking force that the cost of victory for the attacking force outweighs whatever victory they can gain.

That's exactly how the Algerian military is set-up.

Purchasing SU-30's would not be a waste, what it does is the jets acts as a deterrent and a security/political cover from Russia.

Anyway, even the JF-17 we have not seen.
This is a stretch.
Pls be realistic.
France will send planes from Paris, refuel twice to destroy air bases at Kainji and Makurdi.

The mission reliability of this is probably 15%. So they probably do this successfully once in six missions. They better be carrying more than 20 tons of bombs/missiles.....LOL.

They get only one chance but Nigeria has options.

The most childish thing is assessing military power and strength (even these two dont mean the same thing) by comparing numbers and types of aircraft and tanks. It is amateur stuff.
There are many."elements of national power ".

We really need to build strong military partnerships, our primary security concern is internal, however let us not forget that we're completely surrounded by France.

Read up on the issues faced with France in regards to the recently launched ECOWAS ECO currency.

Huge importations from Russia or China is a security guarantee. A good example is Syria, in Africa we have Algeria and CAR.

The JF-17 provides air power solutions but do not cover our security gaps. The F-7s can do what the JF-17s are intended for.

The JF-17 is a good buy, but provides no security deterrent or guarantees.

The JF-17 does not have the range an SU or MIG would give us.
You would need a map of west africa, types and inventory of aircraft and aircraft nos, types and conbat range(s).
The nearest airfield is southern Niger Republic Diffa. The toughest they can field are 2 old MIG 29s.
Algeria is too far to come close.
Mali too far. Cameroon can field Alpha jets.
It is a ridiculously "quiet" neighborhood that Nigeria is in.
Even France would need to refuel their Mirage 2000s mid-air to reach Nigeria.
Good luck with that- our strike airfields are smack in the middle of the country.

I have been advocating for a large 4++ Gen combat aircraft as well but only for protection of the Gulf of Guinea off shore oil installations.

Nigerias power projection in W.Africa is seaward. We will close sea lanes, muscle into your ports and land troops. We are buying LSTs and coast hugging attack crafts.

Buying SUs and MIGs are such a waste, we should keep any of them acquired to just six aircraft.

And geopolitic in north africa and west africa is different . its always an arm race in the region to keep the balance . and the security of your country is the first step for developpment . when you finish like libya , syria ...even if you have the ressources you can't develop your country . thats why some countries spend on there security

There is no fake JF17. JF17B is a two seater version that was not originally planned for. I believe customers (primarily Nigeria) suggested that it might be a good idea for training. There was an attempt to fit AESA radar into the nose cone of JF17B at some point.

The JF 17 Block 3 airframe is going to be bigger than Block 2. Whoever is seeing the same aircraft is misinformed.
AESA radar is bigger, needs more cooking power. The radar can track more aircraft, see further and engage more aircraft simultaneously. It is also harder to jam.

Have you flown a 5th Gen air craft?
Stealth / low observability - not good. Lights up on IRST

Supercruise. - just fair

NetCentric warfare ability - very poor

EW suite - poor, maybe just better than J20

AESA radar - fair but reliability issues

IRST - fair

MAWS/other protective systems - poor

Russia is only scamming other countries with fake 5th Gen platforms.

Their real answer to the opposition is hypersonic strike aircraft. This is where they would be throwing their money because they are leading the tech although US railgun technology will destroy everyone of those aircraft when they are fielded.

Man, you need to understand that Algeria is not as unambitious as Nigeria.

Let me respond to this post very well, so you understand why Algeria needs it.

Morocco is the primary adversary of Algeria. Morocco is getting 24 units of F-16V from the US.

Italy across the Mediterranean has F-35s, including other NATO allies in the region are expected to purchase the F-35. The SU-57 provides that deterrent to both Morocco and NATO members in the region.

The SU-57 that crashed is not a prototype. It was the first serial copy, which was expected to join the Russian air force at the end of this year.

I don't understand the information you're trying to pass with the F-35 comment here, to be honest, it makes no sense.

No Aircraft is fully developed, that's why fighter aircrafts carry out periodic upgrades across the life time of the aircraft service.

The SU-57, F-35, F-22 and J-20 are the world's only 5th Gen multi-role fighters in service. Each aircraft plays to the strength of it's manufacturer/Nation.
So Algeria is buying an aircraft just going into service in Russia. Okay. That's not smart. Russia is going to be recouping their development costs really fast. Also to be honest, SU 57 5th gen capabilities are mostly non existent or modest at best
