Christianity EtcRe: "is The Word Of Faith Movement Biblical?" by Joagbaje(m): 8:46am On Sep 15, 2011
kalokalo:
The Word of Faith doctrine is irreconcilable with the teachings and practices of Jesus Christ. That is why teachers of this doctrine usually use Old Testament  scripture and examples to buttress their lies. They never use the gospels especially the reddened words of Jesus to teach prosperity, health and wealth!.
Did I quote old testament scriptures? I quoted from new testament.

They teach men to desire the carnal things of this world instead of teaching the cross and self denial which was what Jesus preached and practiced.
What are the carnal things. Money? Car? Business success ? If you ever desire any of this things you're hypocrite.

It is not a must that every christian must be rich. But at least every christian has a right to know what belongs to them. As against the poverty message .Can you explain this scripture?

2 Corinthians 8:9
9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Besides , christian prosperity is for the purpose and serving God , not worldliness and materialism.

So which of the apostles were materially prosperous?Does it mean that satan had his way in their lives?
There is difference between self denial and poverty. Poverty is evil ,self denial is for a purpose just like fasting .besides
The apostles were sacrifices for the rest of us. That was their mandate. It is nit every body that has similar calling.

2 Corinthians 6:10
10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich. .

2 Corinthians 4:12
12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

1 Corinthians 4:9-10
9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. .

Even Jesus himself had nothing, And Christians are supposed to be 'Christ-like'.Did satan have his way in the life of Christ?
He denied himself for our sakes . He was smitten so that we could be healed , he was made poor so that we can be rich .

2 Corinthians 8:9
9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

The object of our faith is GOD and not faith in itself.
So who says the object of faith is faith. We ought to have faith in the word of God.

And our faith in GOD is for the overcoming of sin and living victorious christian lives not falsely claiming wealth and health though in themselves these things are not bad, .
They are not bad in themselves but you call them false. It sounds like contradiction

The problem with the heretical word of faith movement is that GOD is boxed up and cannot operate out of faith.
They even say GOD himself has faith which is utter madness, who will GOD have faith to ??
Word of faith simply means to use the instrumentality of the spoken word of God to get result. We excersice authority by speaking . We speak what we believe.

2 Corinthians 4:13
13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

I don't know why you always dwell on sin. If any man have issues with sin It is the same words he needs to wash himself. It is the washing of the water by the word that is required. When a man prays and says "sin shall not have dominion over me!" what is that , WORD OF FAITH. We criticise what we don't know. Isvword of faith only about money? Or the victorious life in christ, victory over sin, sickness ,poverty and death. If u dwell only on sin . It is not balanced
Christianity EtcRe: Why Does God Allow Evil ? by Joagbaje(m): 4:48pm On Sep 14, 2011
The principles are there for us to use for our advantage. God doesn't tempt us with evil. He may allow certain challenges because he had given us abilities to overcome them. But he won't allow challenges that we can't conquer .

James 1:13
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

1 Corinthians 10:13
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Christianity EtcDon't Ignore The Holy Spirit. - Pastor Chris by Joagbaje(op): 3:57pm On Sep 14, 2011
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever (John 14:16).

Listening to the Holy Spirit and following His leading and guidance is so important in the life of every child of God. Many today have gotten into the wrong jobs, wrong relationships and made terrible decisions because they ignored the counsel of the Holy Spirit. God the Father is in heaven, and so is the Lord Jesus. But the Holy Spirit is here with us, as the administrator of the grace of Jesus Christ and the love of God in our lives today. He’s the one that makes the presence of the Lord Jesus real to us. He communicates the mind of the Father to everyone who has received Him.

No wonder Jesus, before His ascension said,

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abode with you for ever” (John 14:16).

Those who ignore the Holy Spirit can’t experience God’s love in reality. Life, without the Holy Spirit, is unexciting, hard, rough and tough. Someone once said, “The Christian life is very challenging; it’s fraught with too many problems.” Well, that’s for the one who ignores the Spirit. I’ve been a Christian for a long time and for me, it’s been a smooth sail, from glory to glory! My experience of life has been that of consistent progress, unending success and recurrent victory. It’s an awesome, wonderful and glorious experience, if you learn to walk with the Holy Spirit.

When you’re acquainted with the Holy Spirit you won’t consider any challenge you might face as obstacles to your faith; you’ll see them as bread. James 1:2 says count it all joy when you fall into divers tests. Why? There’s one living in you that helps you win and puts you over all of life’s challenges:

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

The Holy Spirit was sent to help you live the overcoming life, and bear you up in times of weaknesses and limitations (Romans 8:26); never ignore him.

Recognize the personal ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life and learn to walk with Him. He’s more concerned and passionate about your success than you could ever be. And as you yield to Him, He’ll perfect all that concerns you and lead you from glory to glory.

Prayer
Thank you dear Spirit of God for you presence, power and ministry in my life! I recognize and acknowledge you as the One at work in me, causing me to make progress and excel in my faith-walk; leading me in greater levels of glory! I thank you for making me a success, and for bringing beauty into my life, in Jesus’ Name’ Amen.

In this second video , the man was contrasting holiness with prosperity and contrasting message of healing vs teaching about sin. He went ahead to say that Jesus or the apostles never taught on physical healing and material prosperity .

That's what I was referring to as ignorance , I quoted the wrong video. Jesus taught on healing and prosperity. Jesus died to give us dominion in life. Over sin ,sickness , poverty ,failure, death , and all the works of Satan. You can't say you will dwell on sin only. And besides , those who major on this Sin message mostly teach wrongly . You don't get people off sin by emphasising on sin. You get people off sin by teaching righteousness consciousness . Let people know who they are in christ . Let them know how to walk in the spirit.
Christianity EtcNo More Darkness - Pastor Chris by Joagbaje(op): 11:02am On Sep 12, 2011
. . . .Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12).

The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is a Gospel of light. No wonder Jesus said those who follow Him shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. To follow Him is to believe His Gospel and act accordingly. When you believe and do the Word of God, darkness departs from your life and you’ll no longer live in confusion. No wonder David said “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple” (Psalm 119:130).

1 John 2:8 says
Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.”

Here, John talks about the Gospel, referring to it as “the true light.” He says the true light has now come and this light shines, meaning there’s no more darkness. So, for the one who’s experiencing confusion, failure and is unsure about tomorrow; all he needs is to follow Jesus – the Light, and there’ll be no more darkness. He’s the light that shows you how and what to do about any situation.

It doesn’t matter how dark things have been in your family, job or finances; or perhaps you’ve been facing a recurrent health issue that has defied solution; the darkness is over. Keep your gaze on Jesus, the Light of life; He’s the solution to every problem. He’s the light in whom there’s no darkness. As you follow Him through the Word, He’ll light your path and illuminate your life with His glory.

Recognize that as a new creation in Chris Jesus the light of the glorious Gospel now shines in your heart (2 Corinthians 4:6). This light has been shone into your future, through the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, such that you’ll never be in doubt or confusion in anything: “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come: (John 16:13).

Confession
I declare that there’s a light in my life and in all that concerns me. I refuse to worry about today or the future because the light of the Gospel shines in my heart, there’s no darkness whatsoever in my life. I can see that my way is bright and my future secure. Hallelujah!

Christianity EtcHe Has Qualified You - Pastor Chris by Joagbaje(op): 11:03am On Sep 10, 2011
Whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord (1 Corinthians 11:27).

Many years back, I was in a communion service and while the bread was being passed, some people refused to take it because of their misconception of our opening scripture. They claimed they didn’t want to be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord, because they considered themselves unqualified or unworthy to receive the Holy Communion.

The word “unworthily” used in our opening verse is not the same as “unworthy.” It’s a Greek word that means irreverently; it refers to a manner of operation. The Bible is instructing us here not to abstain from the communion but to participate in it reverently! The reason being that the communion is a demonstration of your faith in the body of Jesus Christ and what He’s done for us! “What if I did something wrong the day before, can I still go ahead and partake of the Holy Communion?” you might want to ask. Emphatically yes. As a matter of fact that’s when you need the communion the most.

Remember, His body was broken for you, and His blood was shed for your justification. As you take the communion you’re asserting your faith in the cleansing power of His blood that was shed for you, to wash you as white as snow. Never allow the devil cheat you out of your inheritance through his railing accusations. If you do something wrong, acknowledge it and then accept the Lord’s forgiveness. As you accept His forgiveness, have it in your heart that you’ve been cleansed from all unrighteousness, and also remember your oneness with Him.

Colossians 1:12 AMP says

, “Giving thanks to the father, who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God’s holy people) in the light.”

So as you take communion on your own or as a group in Church, feel free to call forth any blessing you want in your life. Give thanks and be grateful to the Lord for qualifying you to have part in what He promised His people in the Kingdom of light. Christ has made you worthy to take the communion at any time; it’s a qualification by grace; you didn’t ask for it.

Prayer
Righteous Father, I’m so thankful for your love and tender mercies towards me! I thank you for making me a new creation, thus qualifying me to be a partaker of your glorious inheritance! I’m forever grateful for the blood of Jesus that was shed to purge me of all unrighteousness, and His body that was broken for me to have life, joy and peace. Amen.

Christianity EtcPrograme Your Spirit For Success- Pastor Chris by Joagbaje(op): 2:08pm On Sep 09, 2011
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).

After you’ve come to Christ and are born again, the next thing is to build your faith with the Word so your spirit will be programmed for success and victory. A Christian who doesn’t programme his spirit with the Word won’t enjoy a life of victory. He’ll be amongst those who say, “I don’t know why bad things always happen to me; after all, “I’m a Christian.” The problem is he hasn’t programmed his spirit with the Word.

It’s like giving birth to a child and locking the child away in a room, only to bring him out among people who are lame. Even though that child wasn’t crippled, he’ll never walk because his senses haven’t been trained to respond to upright motion. So a man could be born again, be regular in church, help others, and be very kind-hearted, yet not experience the best of his inheritance in Christ. Even if he gets ministers of God to pray for him, it still wouldn’t amount to much if he hasn’t programmed his own spirit for the glorious life.

How do you programme your spirit? It’s by learning and talking God’s talk. One of those verses of Scripture you need to learn is

2 Corinthians 5:17
: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

To be in Christ means to be born again, so this verse is referring to you. It says now that you’re in Christ, you’re a new creation. You’re not going to be; you already are a new kind of man – a new species. Old things – sicknesses, limitations, and failures – are passed away.

This is God’s talk. God’s Word is His thoughts clothed with vocabulary. So to programme your spirit, you have to talk God’s Word. Affirm all those glorious things He has said about you. Say continually “I’m a new creation, born anew into a life of victory, glory and prosperity! Failure, disappointment and defeat are all passed away, behold, I have a brand new life of greatness and success.”

Confession
I’m born again; therefore I put off the old man and all his carnal desires. I yield myself to the programming of the Spirit through the Word of God and by so doing my progress is assured. Praise God!

Christianity EtcThis Gospel Of The Kingdom - Pastor Chris by Joagbaje(op): 2:01pm On Sep 09, 2011
. . And this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations and then shall the end come (Matthew 24:14).

In the verse above Jesus didn’t say, “And the gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world.” Rather, He says “This Gospel of the Kingdom.” Using the demonstrative adjective “this,” He refers to a particular Gospel, and a particular kingdom – the Kingdom of God. Jesus came preaching not just any gospel, but “this Gospel of the Kingdom.” That means there’s a definite Gospel for us to preach as Christians

The prophets came with their own gospels. John the Baptist came with a gospel; a gospel of repentance to the Jews. But when Jesus came, He preached a different message:

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God” (Mark 1:14).

This lets you know that the gospel you’re to embrace and preach; the Gospel you’re to believe, accept and live by is the Gospel of the Kingdom. But then what is the Kingdom of God?

The Kingdom of God isn’t a place; it’s the reign of God where He exercises His Lordship and expresses His glory and goodness. It’s not a physical Kingdom but a spiritual one, and this is why the Lord Jesus told the people not to look for it anywhere:

“And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:20-21).

God’s plan is to set up His Kingdom in men’s hearts. The Gospel of the Kingdom therefore is the announcement that it’s now possible for all men to have God’s Kingdom set up in their hearts. This wasn’t possible in the days of Abraham, Moses, Elijah, and David. But now, in Christ Jesus, it’s possible for anyone who believes on His Name to receive the life, presence, beauty and glory of God in his heart. It’s now possible for God to be at home in your heart and set up His headquarters in you! What a great blessing this is!

God wants the whole world to know they can have the Kingdom of God set up in their hearts. No wonder He says in Ecclesiastes 3:11 that He has set eternity in the hearts of men. The Kingdom is in your heart, and you operate in it by functioning according to God’s Word.

Prayer
Dear Father, thank you for entrusting me with the Gospel of the Kingdom, and for setting up eternity in my heart! I take this same message to everyone in my world today, and as I do, their eyes are open to see the realities of the Kingdom, and the great life you’ve ordained for them, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

You should not call a man false prophet because you don't agree with him. There seem to be so much unbelief around that anyone who minister in the supernatural is seen as fake. Does that mean the supernatural is done with in the body of christ? Christianity without the supernatural is nothing but a dead religion. Jesus christ is the same yesterday , today and forever.

If the Bible is against our "condemning" or "judging" rulers, how do you expect the Holy Ghost to tell a pastor to do that? Will the Holy Ghost condemn the written word of God?
There is a difference between a pastor and a prophet, apostles etc. A pastor is anointed over a congregation. An apostle is a gift to the body , a prophet can be anointed over a nation , a generation etc. There are different callings in God. Those who are anointed to speak to rulers have grace for it. We should all focus on our callings and stop criticising what we know not. If you say we are all equal and the same and go and function in what God hasn't called you to do. You will be on your own because the grace of God will not be there. You only have grace, angels and ability for the specific assignment God reveals to you.

Besides there are different kinds of rulers . There are rulers who are open to recieve from men of God there are rulers that are not open. But if God sends a man , he grants grace.

Christianity EtcPlug In With Your Faith - Pastor Chris by Joagbaje(op): 8:09am On Sep 07, 2011
. . . But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6)

There’re those who out of their ignorance of the Scriptures wonder how come God’s ministers are unable to just heal every sick person in the world. “If Jesus were here, He would heal everybody”; they’d say. Such statements are from those who are spiritually unlearned. When Jesus walked the earth, He “didn’t heal everybody.” As a matter of fact, He “couldn’t” heal everybody.

This may sound strange to you, but study the Bible for yourself; you’ll find something amazing when you read the latter part of Mark 5, into the first five verses of Mark 6. Jesus had raised a young woman from the dead. (Mark 5:39-43). Right after that, He came into his home country and the Bible says He could there do no mighty work, except that He laid His hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. Mark 6:5-6 tells us that as a result, He marveled at their unbelief, and then went around about the villages, teaching.

He tried to heal the people and He couldn’t. This wasn’t a function of His inability, for He is Himself God and can do all things, but their unbelief short-circuited His power. Hence He resorted to teaching the Word of God to impart faith to them and rid their hearts of unbelief. So the fault wasn’t with Jesus, but with the people who didn’t plug into God’s power with their faith. It’s the same today; the power of God is with us and available to us twenty-four hours a day, but you must plug into it with your faith for it to work for you.

Receiving from God is based on the simple principle of faith. With faith, you plug into God’s abundant supply, and take a hold of whatever you desire. The woman with the issue of blood didn’t wait for Jesus to pray for her. She connected to God’s power by faith and pulled out her healing. When Jesus later spoke to her, He said:

Thy faith hath made thee whole” (Matthew 9:22).

Your faith is the plug by which you connect to the power of God. That power is always available; tap into it.

Confession
My faith is alive and working. With it, I’ve connected into God’s unending supply, taking full advantage of His inexhaustible grace, wealth and wisdom, thus making the miraculous my daily experience. Glory to God!

Matthew 21:21
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

Christianity EtcRe: Do You Believe In Eternal Sin? by Joagbaje(m): 12:01am On Sep 07, 2011
It is not called eternal sin, but rather unpardonable sin. This sin is can not be committed by mistake . It is a mature christian that can commit such.

Hebrews 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
