Your ministers are as good as your president
hatakekakashi:
Anytime I remember this 2 year ban of basketball by the ignorant Sunday Dare and his ministry of sport, I'm always close to tears. We went from being the best in Africa to now starting from scratch. He didn't even consider the hard work put into the team by the coaches and the players and sacrifices made to get to this level or to qualify us for all the competitions that we now have to pull out from. I still can't understand the logic behind this foolishness or maybe wickedness. cry

Am surprised alot of people Hype Ejuke; he sure dribbles well but his football is immature.
He plays like Gray while he was at Leicester. That was one reason why Gray was shipped off . Football isn't all about running with the ball and dribbling; he should develop more then claim his place in the S.E .

Pls don't tell me about his club stats!!!

We have very weak teams in the qualifiers. Teams that Rohr will struggle against. Even if Peseiro does well agains those teams I won’t still rate him. We need more friendlies like these. And let him pick his players.

Kog45:
Cool baba,Nigeria losing to Ecuador shows that we still have a lot to do,irrespective of players we paraded.....I remember a makeshift SE team beat France in a friendly in Paris. We can't really say much on Peseiro now but he already lost two matches as eagles gaffer, let's see what he has to offer during Afcon qualifier.....Good to see guys talking about how eagles played than talking about losing, seems there is positivity in Peseiro style of play, hope he will delivered.

I will not really talk much about the outcome of the friendlies cos we last won a friendly match in 2019 against Egypt.Peseiro should be aware that Nigerians don't joke with results, hence he need to act fast and bring the winning mentality back into the team.

I believe every player fielded today wanted to give the coach a very good first impression. Peseiro should believe what he saw today and start to build from there.

Una dey argue who has scored the most goals so far. I think say na this season una dey talk. I see your point
But komekn’s point is still valid.
TheGoodJoe:

I repeat, the discussion is 100 goals so far. If we are talking when both players have stabilized and we want to compare them, I am all for it.

However, opportunity played a big role in the early start players like Tammy get. The point might not fly in Europe because they lack zero idea of the challenges an African football kid gets.

Look at the picture below, he could not play for Arsenal because of work permit despite his immense talent. Yaya had to go on a journey which an English kid would have walked into Arsenal.

That is a fact. Our players find it tougher in the start. So that is why Tammy leads in goals.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:48am On May 03, 2022
Impressive record until they play in the EPL again. As regards the rest you said, typical of you lol

komekn:
Mitrovich just scored 43 goals in one season the highest number of goals in the history of the second tier.

Fulham have scored over 100 goals in a season in the Championship.

Look at the quality of players it's no Fluke, Liverpool tried to buy their 19 year old Midfielder in January but have hot him now on a pre contract.

If you do very well in the Championship every top level team in Europe will look at it you. Unlike no other second tier league in Europe.

Fulham just beat Luton Town 7-0

Fulham is not better than Napoli in my opinion however, would Napoli beat them in a match, l really don't know.

Food for thought Anguissa a sure starter for Napoli was let go on loan. Not wanted by the Manager.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:32am On May 03, 2022
Talk about injuries a season or two. But even this factor will not fly over a course of time during one’s football career. However mentioning a footballer’s years growing up as a lad to support why they succeed or fail season after season are talks that should be left to the kitchen table. TheGoodJoe you MAY get away with saying this on Nigerian media but no go embarrass Nigerians as an analyst in the International scene. Anyways this is NairaLand.

So listen to Komekn. If you switch Osimhen and Tammy’s childhood circumstances, no one can tell what would be the outcome. So it’s totally pointless. Mind you I’m not even saying Tammy was better this season. I’m not into this argument. I’m just dismayed by your logic.

TheGoodJoe:

What is infantile? Opportunity is part of football. If you get a chance and you have it, you can do well. If you do not get the chance, you will take time to blow.

Being English and from Chelsea academy is one of the reasons Tammy broke into Chelsea earlier. That gave him the chance to show his talent. Lampard also gave him that opportunity to show his work.

So, when they are talking of HISTORY, that Tammy has scored 100 goals and Osimhen has not, it is actually infantile to forget about that Opportunity played a part in Tammy having an early start. It is also neglect the fact of Osimhen also battling injuries, coming from a tough background to have the kind of start Tammy had.

This is a fact, and this is football. If you want balanced analysis, you take as much factors as you can. Not jus saying that someone has scored this amount of goals over the years.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:30pm On May 02, 2022
Very balanced analysis. This talk of opportunities is very infantile to me. Talk football and leave it at that.

komekn:
IF is a very big word.

You don't predict life by location and differing circumstances. It's your life experiences that form your character not the other way round.

How do you know that Victor O, would not have ended up as die hard drug dealer running tings in Hackney East London with no interest in football what so ever.

If Victor with his limited technical ability had not gone through hell fire of life experiences in Lagos. He would not have had the die hard mental resilience to overcome all his challenges in life and succeed the way he has , against all odds.

Life is not so predictable.

Only God can do that, he who knows the end of things from the beginning.

No, it’s the best that can guarantee our administrators take their cut. We need to wake up and reject nonsense.

e be like say na the best wey our pocket fit carry us be this, besides let him start work first, we once hired a very good foreign coach in Berti Vogt who ended up failing. I don’t even see any local coach who has a CV decent enough for the super eagles

I will hold foreign coaches to higher standards because they are paid far more and are seen as better even without a thorough scrutiny of their resume.

If we are going to hire an indigenous coach, go for our best. If we have to look far away, let the journey be worth it. Are we not tired of gambles?

jihday:
nice try at sarcasm, just that I didn’t see this negativity when Eguavoen was announced as interim. I believe you are jumping the gun, let the man start work first and see what he’s all about no need to spread negativity

caprikon:
No loss at all.

The administrators should do the real work of building structures to groom talents at home.

Well said. What’s more important is that we represent well when next we qualify. Going to WC for record number of times and doing nothing is showcasing to the world how stagnant we are.
We have the players but we don’t deserve to always be there.

Thanks for research and correction. We can now crown him befitting of the SE coach role.

jihday:
he actually resigned from ahly and not fired.

Al Ahly chairman Mahmoud Taher have tried to convince Peseiro to continue his mission with the team, promising that the board would provide all needed support. Peseiro, however, rejected, saying that he was faced by criticism from Al Ahly fans even before officially taking over at the Red Castle.

The 55-year-old coach led Al Ahly in 12 matches this season, in which the Red Devils won eight games, lost two and drew two
