So tell me why do scouts go to watch a player even with all the stats on their palms? Didn't you watch both Okoye and Uzoho in the GWG? Are you saying you are more comfortable with Okoye in GWG? komekn: Everyone who so far says Uzoho is better has not said how and or supported it with statistics and rational measurement of attributes.
All I've heard here is emotive dislike, prejudice and bias.
You included. |

As long as Omeruo is fully fit and it's KC on his good day, I agree |

I have so much respect for Okoye. It would be great to have such a keeper as our second choice. My first choice is Uzoho, firstly because he has World Cup experience. Secondly, he looks more composed and has more command of his area. |

People just give Rohr undue credit because we had a rough patch before his arrival. Our problem then was administration. safarigirl: LOL
A veteran Super Eagles follower declared Rohr as our best coach in 20 years
I argued that record for record, Rohr is not even better than Keshi, and he decides to call me unintelligent amongst other things.
Yet, at no point did he mention how Rohr was better than Keshi. He mentioned that the team was in shambles from 2014-2017 and how we did not qualify for AFCON, but Keshi left the job during the qualifiers in 2014.
He even mentioned that Rohr has helped bring up players from the youth team, citing Osimhen, and I countered that Kelechi, Omeruo, Ndidi and co, are also graduates of the youth team.
Anyway, dem don insult me for Twitter because of Keshi and Rohr today. |

Bassey had some lapses. But for a young guy I would say he has a heart of steel, putting that show away on his debut. I expect to see him have a much improved performance in his second game for SE. |

Wing play is not our strength. Attack is. If wing play were our strength our striker(s) will get the needed support. That our wingers can be easily neutralised shows that they are very predictable in their approach. We need dynamic wingers/strikers, who can operate from the wing from the run of play and easily switch to being a strikers. Dennis and Osimhen are the kind of forwards I just described. It makes our game unpredictable and Ghana defence will easily fall like a pack of cards. I just dropped my lineup. Thats how we need to operate. We have lots of strikers for a reason. Ighalo is not that kind of striker but he can definitely come in at some point. chidi1: With regards to the match yesterday and the upcoming match on Tuesday, these are my views;
1. Ihenacho should have been replaced by onyeka in maybe the 60th minute, with Aribo moving upfront. Aribo, was played out of position.
2. The connection between midfield and attack was non-existent. I believe Amo can be used as a joker. Just release him when everyone is tired to cause havoc on the opponent.
3. The comparison between Okoye and Uzoho is finally settled. In as much as you cannot judge from a single game, Uzoho brings more positional awareness, composure and command of his line than Okoye.
4. We should learn to high press the Ghanaians. They make more mistakes when they are high pressed. On three occasions in which it occurred, they made mistakes. It even almost lead to a penalty.
5. We are in trouble, if we survive this world cup qualification match. Eguavon needs to update his coaching arsenal if we are to go far in the world cup. He still lives in the 90s, using the same Westerhoff principles. This is very predictable and can be easily stifled in the world cup. |

Even Eguavoen is better than Rohr. At least he makes subs in a timely manner. safarigirl: Genuine question please, was Rohr a better coach than Keshi? |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:05am On Mar 26, 2022 |
Well, Eguavoen felt that at the AFCON we had the missing links in Osimhen, Dennis and Ighalo. And on their return his philosophy will yield fruits regardless of the strategy of the opponent. I hope he has now seen the light. Cc 13large benji93: He actually changed it, yet someone here said he should have stuck to the 4 2 4 formation. It's easy to say that after the fact. Very wonderful suggestion |

That's what Ghana did today. Will Eguavoen start the 2nd leg the same way? I DOUBT 13large: I hope you realize that all it takes to defeat us in a 424 formation is to crowd your midfield and hope for a Fortuitous chance. Tunisia and CAR has already shown the blue print |

That's why I call the Ghana team a weak team. If they were strong, they would have punished us in the first half. modified Not strong, but if they were average, they should have made their midfield count. They had so much possession and with all the fans behind them. benji93: I don't get you people. Some of you here think club football and National team football are the same, so you think things that work in club football automatically work in national team football. The plan of the Ghanaian team was to apply maximum pressure in the first 20/30 minutes or so and perhaps get a goal. You can see they faded out through the last 15 minutes or so. Nigeria has not played Ghana in a long time, and nobody really knows the strategy of the other coach per sey. He assumes the other coach will feature something so he tries to plan for it, in which case in some cases you will plan and still lose. Is Eguaveon a mind reader to know what the other coach is thinking about his plan, and so does something else? If we had lost then perhaps this craze would be warranted. Now, if he cannot properly strategize, now that he has more information, tried different midfield systems, then well calling for his head would be the way to go.
By the way, some were going crazy here about the 4 2 4 formation. We will concede so many goals, we will concede goals. Although they dominated the midfield and stifled our midfield system at least for the first 30 minutes, they were toothless. Then he took Aribo out(even though i would have preferred that he kept him in, as we were doing well in the last 15 minutes, and Aribo was almost always in the thick of it, but i understand) to increase the numbers in the midfield, then the midfield looked much better. |

you talk am finish! Icon79: Like I posted on Twitter, the Super Eagles would have won the game if the team that ended the game had started. That tells you how clueless Eguaveon is, he doesn’t even know his best team yet.
