@bolded a player who rejected playing for us at the AFCON to concentrate on getting his career on track. you see, these things can befall anyone (not only "foreign borns" ) andrewbaba44: Samuel kalu should brace up as he just signed for a championship team
You worked hard to win Aston villa away from home only to end up loosing to palace at your backyard and not getting a draw at least
Dennis can easily be watford player of the season because I believe he still has more goals to go ,but I hope he got a good agent ?
If dem offer the Warey 80k weekly he might just follow them to the championship |

One thing is certain. Philip Billing is not going to this world Cup. By next WC he would be almost 30 years If he wants to get more international caps at least, he should do the right thing and switch to Nigeria. |

I just dey see the bolded. How has Onyeka proved to be better than Billing? by just being in the EPL? This is only Onyeka's first season. Billing was more impressive in the EPL back then. And even now he is a Lion in the Championship. I hate to compare them but na u start am. Meliforme: Ndidi and Osimhen have been so exceptional in GWG that's the reason why i didn't place Nwakali over them.
Even for Ndidi, i will dig out posts where many on this thread have berated his quality and said he brings very little, but we see what we see. That was so funny, so funny to the point that except we pointed out his vital blocks, tackles and interceptions, they won't see those. Ndidi is the only identity the midfield has for now and that identity is a defensive identity.
Was it not on this thread that i rated Frank Onyeka of Midtjylland in Denmark over Philip Billing Anyanwu that plays in the EPL. Did you not argue me, Mr Andrew. You can still go on with the debate.
It was still on this thread that i expressed my preference for Sadiq Umar over Taiwo based on the little i saw of him against Egypt. Many came for my head for saying that, now the story has changed.
And now Nwakali..... |

I agree that Pinnick should not be in London or anywhere as a matter of fact holding such talks. We should have influential people in the UK who can do those lobbying as well as Eguavoen should be in the picture. If people resource is what you meant, then you are so much on point. What am I saying here? Same applies in the homefront. You should people in the right place to develop the game. A lot can be done in the home front at the same time. It is never one or the other. Danielnino00: You guys are being unnecessarily petty... Going after foreign borns isn't an issue.... I don't know what angle thegoodjoe is getting at, but for me, the NFF shouldn't be spending so much resource just to convince one or two foreign born players to represent us when such resources could be channelled into developing our grassroot football back home . It appears that the NFF don't have much interest in developing our grassroot football, which is unfortunate, seeing as it has always been a source of pride for us. See, I'm also a big basketball fan and I support our national team passionately.. The men and female team is filled 95% with foreign born players and i totally support it.. Why? because we aren't a basketball playing nation! We don't have the talent and resource for it.. But you see America, we have plenty of people there who develop the passion for the sport back there . But the same can't be said of football... The NFF shouldn't, in the in their relentless pursuit of FB players forget their primary responsibility of developing our football back home.. |

The problem is many Nigerians can relate to this like you just did. But they can't put themselves in their shoes for once. M7even: I'm Edo from my father and Yoruba from my mother. My surname might give me out. But I was born and bred in as a Yoruba boy. we only speak yoruba. I mean I could go on and on to tell you what makes me feel more Yoruba than a benin boy. Living in lagos , I've been to benin just once. It must be the same for these boys. If You must convince them do it! What's the pride about it? That you are asking a person to give up a fraction of what makes them and their very existence due to their parental lineage. |

Yes, the secret of winning the world cup, is to judge other's passion while playing for the team based on what they did or said in the past. you are dead right! TheGoodJoe:
I repeat. I am proud of all of them. Home, abroad. I wish and pray for the best for them no hard feelings. However, I know passion plays a big part in National team football.
We need to maintain that. |

It's normal bro. When you are doing very well in your profession maybe many companies want you.. But when things dey rough, na u go dey beg.. no hard feelings.. This is the real life. TheGoodJoe:
Do not convince them. That puts them on a pedestal of us needing them. That makes them somehow look bigger than the team. Let them fight to play for us. Not us fight for them.

You are living in another world. Abi Nigeria is the only country in the world. Even better achieving nations in football "reach out" to players. TheGoodJoe:
Bring up your kids where you want. It does not make them less Nigerian. The point is about football and the national team. Invite those with the passion to play. Let those that want to play reach out to us. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:24pm On Feb 22, 2022 |
That's the mature stance. Make an approach. Get their reaction. And respect their reaction. Letting them know you know their preference. And it is okay. But when they change their mind they will be welcomed in the fold. They are professionals and you know they will put in their all anyways if that time comes. But if you act wounded, then that's a no no. modified But can you define this "red carpet treatment"? TheGoodJoe: That is actually not the case. No one doubts there belief in their roots. At the moment, they lack the passion.
Shola Ameobi turned us down repeatedly. When he was in the team, he showed so much passion. Even on the bench, he kept on barking orders.
I am saying when they are not mentally ready leave them. How to know when they are mentally ready, they reach out. So create a channel for them to reach out. Stop the red carpet treatment. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:20pm On Feb 22, 2022 |
They have a preference. That is normal in life. When they commit they will fully be committed. They are professionals TheGoodJoe:
I did not say that they are denying their roots. J said they do not have the passion to play for us.
We have a big game to play to qualify for he world cup. A player with passion for the team will want a chance to help.
These guys do not care for now. So stop giving red carpet treatments to convince them when they lack the passion. |

The problem is that most people that have that opposing opinion think they are more Nigerian and majority of Nigerians in Nigeria share their views. charlesemeka85: imagine this current super eagles team without the likes of
Aina Balogun Ekong Iwobi Aribo Ebuehi Ajayi
With current additions like bassey, and lookman and the chances of getting olise and eze on board
Baba no matter how u go own with your dedication and passion campaign this foreign groomed are very important to the growth and strength of the super eagles |

A player can do this and still want to play for England. The point is, most of these players are not denying their roots. They are just expressing their preference. They still love their roots. E.g I love Nigeria, but I would rather bring up my kids where I'm at. TheGoodJoe:
This was Aina before the call up to the Super Eagles sending his old kits to Lagos to help kids and young players.
He has a passion for us. |
