Sir I’m clear on that. But I’m saying you want voters eventually to vote according to the players’ SE performances ONLY. Hence there is need for clarity in the naming of the categories. Icon4s: These are my nominations which I have also used as a sample for others.
On Nigerian Player of the year I obviously mean Super Eagle player of the year. Sorry about the misunderstanding. Each Committee member nominates 3 per category and we select the 3 highest frequency of nominations. If there is any tie we vote. |
Sports › Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Joebie: 8:56am On Nov 26, 2018 |
Is this just for sample or your actual nominations? I think the rules is clear. Every committee member should nominate 3 players per category. I’m afraid there might be some confusion, if not in the nomination stage here, in the voting stage later. Which is why I suggested earlier your rewording the categories e.g Super Eagles player of the year etc. (not Nigerian player of the year). Else you will have to remind monikers we are only considering GWG performances, not club performances. But I’m okay if u want to go on with this. I will make my nominations later today Icon4s: Let me use mine for a sample. In no particular order: 1. Nigerian Player of the Year: Ahmed Musa, Mikel Obi, Alex Iwobi 2. Home based player of year: Stephen Eze, Junior Lokosa, Ikechukwu Ezenwa 3. Most impactful New Inclusion: Jamilu Collins, Samuel Kalu, Semi Ajayi 4. Best Goalkeeper: Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Francis Uzoho, Daniel Akpeyi 5. Best Defender: William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Tyrone Ebuehi 6. Best Midfielder: Mikel Obi, Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo. 7. Best Attacker: Odion Ighalo, Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa. 8. Most improved player (2018): Isaac Success, Ahmed Musa, Odion Ighalo. 9. Young Player of the year: Samuel Chukwueze, Samuel Kalu, Francis Uzoho. 10. Super Falcons Player of the year: TBD 11. Super Eagles Goal of the year: Ahmed Musa 2:0 vs Iceland, Ahmed Musa 1:0 vs Seychelles, Samuel Kalu 4:0 vs Libya.

On your first paragraph. That was the point I raised. Seems nobody saw it. Rohr gave himself away, but this is Nigeria. He knows it’s normal to us. BascoVanVeli: What do agents have to do with the selection of a team? Shouldn't the coach be finding players by himself?
You are misplacing facts, Odey and Lokosa both came back from abroad to honor calls. They both went on trials before their caps.
Please what has Balogun done in his career? Even Victor Moses just finally played for Chelsea it is not like they were world beaters all these years. Balogun got the same chance that Keshi gave to Omeruo and both worked out meaning that u cannot forget about the league. Omeruo is clearly our best defender in Europe and he came from Sunshine stars. Musa nko? Top scorer for Nigeria at 2014 and 2018 wc, Kano Pillars.
Premature or not Sunday Mba birthed us an AFCON so why should u complain? If an home based lad can do that for us in Cameroon then why not? |

No be Naija we dey? There are always people who would say he turned us down, he should go and play for England. These National team scouts etc will never bring the boy to Rohr’s notice. Plus his predicament at the moment is not helping issues. wayodude: Nah bro I back @komekn on this one. The broad question being posed here is regarding consistency in selection criteria. The players being discussed should be seen as mere examples in trying to explain the case. Why did a player perform at a certain level for a long period of time and was ignored and then a different player performs at a similar level for a shorter spell and he is called up? That's the question being asked |

Great! Icon4s: Setting Criteria for players Selection.
We do not have the complete Data base of the statistics of the individual players, so we don't need to make the criteria too scientific. These are going to be simple and justifiable criteria.
I will suggest below: 1. All award categories should be for players who have featured for any of the national teams (IE, Super Eagles, CHAN Eagles, Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets, Super Falcons, Falconets and Flamingos) 2. Rating of players should be based on national team performances only. 3. Young Player of the Year is strictly for players 21years and below. 4. For The Best Attacker award I suggest points should be generated as thus: Goal-2 points, assist-1 point. 5. Selection of 3 players for the other sections of the team( ie Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best Midfielder) can be subjective but also objective.
We can add more or remove any from the list above

Please let’s ensure to stress that we are only considering performances in the GWG. We are good to go. Icon4s: Ok, now we move forward with the list below: 1. Nigerian Player of the Year 2. Nigerian Home based player of the year 3. Most impactful New Inclusion (2018) 4. Best Goalkeeper (Best Ogedengbe Award) 5. Best Defender (Stephen Keshi Award) 6. Best Midfielder (Oliha/Okwaraji Award) 7. Best Attacker (Rashidi Yekini Award) 8. Most improved player (2018) 9. Young Player of the Year 10. Super Falcons player of the year 11. Super Eagles Goal of the Year. |

Is it not better to just list the awards without fallen heroes attached? |

I go with Okwaraji as well Icon4s: For the Best Midfielder's award we are toren between two Fallen heroes: Samuel Okwaraji and Thompson Oliha.

I go for Samuel Okwaraji especially as he died during service. |

Wolves youngster Buur’s new deal could mean curtains for outcast Iorfahttps://tbrfootball-com.cdn.ampproject.org/ii/w680/s/tbrfootball.com/static/uploads/2018/11/GettyImages-579365382.jpgWolverhampton Wanderers have handed a new deal to youngster Oskar Buur. The highly rated right-back joined the club last year from Aarhus GF, and made his first-team bow in the EFL Cup against Bristol Rovers, before debuting in the Championship against Hull City – a game in which he actually scored an important equaliser. Buur featured in pre-season for Wolves and regularly trains with the first-team, but Nuno Espirito Santo hasn’t yet called on the Danish defender this season. He has, however, been a regular for the U23s, featuring nine times in PL2 so far this season. He’ll be delighted to bag himself a new deal, but one man who might be concerned about the development could be forgotten man Dominic Iorfa. End of the road for Iorfa?Iorfa has been with Wolves since 2013 after coming up through the Black Country club’s youth system. He burst onto the scene in the 2014/15 season, but really established himself in 2015/16, making 42 league appearances. But last term he was loaned out to Ipswich Town, and this season he has appeared just twice in the Checkatrade Trophy. Iorfa appears to have lost his way at Molineux in the last couple of years, and news of Buur’s new deal could see him leave in January. Clearly the club feel confident enough in Buur that he can have a successful future at the club. It is perhaps an indicator that he might soon be ready to challenge Matt Doherty for a place in the first-team, since he currently has no competition. —tbrFootball |

What’s the point of the usual league? Nothing really separates the league winners from the rest than the number of away draws they can garner. Let a broadcasted super 6 mini tourney in a neutral venue decide the eventual winner. At least we can all have a better look at the refs performances. Odunayaw:

Nigeria will beat EQG. I hope we get all the goals possible. SA, Zambia game will be tricky. Icon4s: 2018 AWC permutations.
No country is through to the semi finals and no country has crashed out yet. Meaning any of the 8 teams can crash out and any of the 8 teams can qualify. How?
Group A Cameroon 6 +4 Mali 3 +0 Ghana 3 +0 Algeria 0 -4
Final group fixtures: Cameroon vs Ghana, Algeria vs Mali.
Cameroon can only crash out if Ghana beats Cameroon by 3 goals marigin and Mali wins Algeria by same score line.
Algeria can qualify if Algeria beat Mali by 3 goal margin and Cameroon beats Ghana by any Margin.
Mali will qualify if they draw or beat Algeria by any Margin and Cameroon beats Ghana by any margin
Ghana can qualify if they beat Cameroon by any margin and Algeria and Mali play a draw or Algeria wins. Meaning if Ghana beats Cameroon 1 goal margin and Mali beats Algeria, Ghana will still crash out.
Pretty open but favorites to qualify are Cameroon and Mali.
Group B South Africa 6 +7 Nigeria 3 +3 Zambia 3 +1 E/ Guinea 0 -11
Final fixtures: South Africa vs Zambia Nigeria vs E/ Guinea
South Africa can crash out if they lose to Zambia by 4-0 and Nigeria win E/ Guinea by any margin.
E/ Guinea will qualify if they beat Nigeria by 8-0 and South Africa beats Zambia by any margin.
Nigeria will qualify if Nigeria beats E/Guinea by any Margin and Zambia beats SA by 3 or less goals or South Africa beats Zambia by any Margin or they play a draw.
Zambia will qualify if they beat SA by 4 or more goals and Nigeria beats E/ Guinea or E/ Guinea beats Nigeria by any Margin.
Seems a mountain so high for E/Guinea and Zambia. SA and Nigeria favorite to qualify as first and Second respectively. |
