He scored a hart-trick in training from the left wing, just as VicMo a RW can also do well from the left. Iheanacho can deliver that cross from the left when needed. I don’t know if u played the game sir, but do u think good strikers can convert headers from the left and right with the same ease?

Croatia Defender Corluka More Worried By Musa Than Messi
1 June 1, 2018 10:53 am

Croatia defender Vedran Corluka has pinpointed Ahmed Musa as one of the main threats in the Super Eagles team ahead of their opening Group D clash at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Both players featured in the Russian Premier League last seaso and are expected to be named in the final squads for Nigeria and Croatia who will face off at the Kaliningrad Stadium on the 16th of June.

Argentina and Iceland are the other teams in the group.

Musa, one of the experienced players in Nigeria’s World Cup bound squad, played for CSKA Moscow on loan from Leicester City last season, scoring seven goals in 16 appearances.

“I have not been thinking much about Messi, because we face Nigeria first, a match that will determine our chances of reaching the next round,” Corluka who plays for Lokomotiv Moscow told net.hr.
“I know some Nigerian players, especially Musa from CSKA Moscow.

“He (Musa) is very fast, pretty good and it will not be easy for us.
“Every group is tough, everyone will come prepared. Against Brazil we will play the maximum because it is not possible for such a rival.

“Messi is phenomenal, everyone will enjoy playing against him, but this is not important for us.”

Musa has scored 13 goals in 69 international appearances for the national team since he made his debut in 2010.

Troost-Ekong: Criticism By Oliseh Helped Me Improve; England’s Kane Was Good To Me
June 1, 2018 12:02 pm

Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong says that criticisms from former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh shaped his questk to excel at the international level.

Troost-Ekong, 25, who scored his first international goal for Nigeria in Monday’s pre-World friendly against Democratic Republic of Congo gained recognition after impressing with the country’s U-23 team that won bronze in the football event of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The centre-back and his central defence partner, Leon Balogun were impressive for the Super Eagles in the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Now a key member of the Super Eagles team, the Bursaspor of Turkey defender’s journey to international stardom has however not been a rosy one.

“My partner at centre-back (new Brighton signing Leon Balogun) is half-German, half-Nigerian, so he is the same as me,” Troost-Ekong stated in an interview with Telegraph.co.uk.

“After a game, he (Sunday Oliseh) said we were too soft to play against African players. That upset me, because one of my traits as a player is that I am someone who does not back away from anyone. I am not the most skilful, but I know what I am good at.

“I think that’s part of being from different countries, different cultures. It’s not nice when people try to use that against you. I identify myself as being Nigerian as well, and I feel at home in the team.

“Not once have I ever looked around and thought ‘this is not for me’. But it spurred me on. I have played against African strikers since then and no one has bullied me. I have proven my point.”

Troost-Ekong played for the Netherlands at junior levels but made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2015 after an impressive season on loan at Dutch side FC Dordrecht.

The duo of Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi could have played for England, but they chose to represent Nigeria instead and the rugged defender reckons that it is important for players to go where they are appreciated.

“You have to go where you are loved, where you are appreciated,” he insisted.
“It is more appealing for younger players. It is opening doors for foreign-born Nigerians, and I think there are going to be more to follow. Nigeria is a giant of African football.”

The Super Eagles will come up against England in a friendly game at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday which provides an opportunity for a reunion with Harry Kane, his former teammate at Tottenham Hotspur who once helped him fill out his registration form when he was a fresh-faced scholar at the club.

“He was one of the first guys that sat me down and helped me,” Troost-Ekong said of Kane.

“It’s amazing to see how well he has done.”
He recalls how left Tottenham Hotspur for Dutch club in 2013 following the appointment of Tim Sherwood as manager
“Me and Tim did not have the best rapport,” he stated.

“He did not really believe in me as a player.”
Troost-Ekong believes he has an unfinished business in the English Premier League and hopes to be back someday.

“I’ve taken a different route,” he added
“But if I can get to the Premier League, I will feel like I have achieved a lot.”

England friendly, another opportunity to showcase Eagles’ strength, says Simy
By Ayo Olu Ibidapo - June 1, 2018 488 0

https://aoifootball.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Screen-Shot-2018-05-28-at-11.43.48-PM.png

Newly capped Super Eagles’ striker, Simeon Nwankwo, believes the friendly against the Three Lions of England at Wembley on Saturday will offer the Eagles an opportunity to showcase their strength ahead of the World Cup which kicks off in 14 days.
The FC Crotone striker told AOIFootball.com exclusively from the Eagles’ base in London, that although the game will be a tough one, he believes Nigeria has what it takes to put up a good showing against the former world champions.
“For me, the England game is just another opportunity for us to continue our preparations towards the World Cup and keep improving as individuals and as a team. Hopefully, we will get one over them on Saturday.
“The game will be a difficult one because they parade some of the best legs in the English Premier League, but we also have guys who have played there and are still playing their so we will put up a good fight and come out with a victory,” Simy concluded.
The 26-year-old striker earned his first cap against DR Congo earlier this week and will be hoping to earn his second when Nigeria takes on England at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

Honestly i’d Prefer Mikel as a CM. He will help us control the midfield even better without us losing that passing range, with Iwobi upfront. I’d rather play Musa as LW. Guys, Musa is in the form of his life going by how he ended the season. Credits to CSKA coach. I though he did pretty well against Congo DR even in that yeye pitch.

edi287:
I.e as an inverted winger. A few people have said the same. It honestly depends on who is playing in the middle. He can obviously swap positions with an Ozil but not a Mikel. This is why I've been advocating for moving Mikel a bit deeper. Play Iwobi or even Etebo (if you're afraid of Iwobi's workrate) in front. When you have Iwobi - Etebo - Vic Moses or Simon Moses - Iwobi - Vic Moses behind Ighalo/Iheanacho, what you have is a very mobile and fluid front 4 capable of interchanging position at will.
A Mikel as a Dlp can still be a big creative influence. Build up play will be better and they'll still be enough creativity in the final third.

Rohr: Super Eagles Will Score Many Goals At World Cup
June 1, 2018 2:25 pm

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:
Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has assured that the lack of goals in the Super Eagles will be resolved before the start of the World Cup in Russia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Super Eagles have scored only two goals in their last three friendlies against Poland, Serbia and Democratic Republic of Congo.

“I am not worried that the Super Eagles have not scored much in recent games because I know we have what it takes to score goals and I believe my players will score plenty of goals at the World Cup in Russia,” Rohr told Complete Sports.

“We are working very hard to get our attackers scoring goals again. It is not as if we can’t score goals, it is just that we were trying out new formations and trying out new players in different roles. “Now that we have pruned the team to a manageable size, it is time to perfect our strategy for the World Cup

“Nigerians should believe in this team to deliver at the World Cup. By the time we finished playing England and Czech Republic and go into our final camping for the World Cup, all the flaws will be corrected and we are ready to go.”

Nigeria are in the same World Cup group with Croatia, Argentina and Iceland.

Official- Gent Star Moses Simon Finally Ruled Out Of The World Cup
June 1, 201804

Gent star Moses Simon has been officially ruled out of the World Cup 2018 in Russia after latest scan indicated that he will be out for two more weeks, Owngoalnigeri.com can exclusively reveal.

His mentor Mohammed Mowiz Suleiman revealed that the result of the scan he had in London confirmed that he will miss two more weeks and coach Gernot Rohr thought it wise to drop him from the team.

“Simon called to tell me of the unfortunate news around 1:42pm Nigerian time. The scan was held yesterday but the result came out this afternoon. He will be fit in few days time but there are fears that he could suffer a relapse “, Mowiz told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” He has already spoken with Rohr over the unfortunate incident and it’s best for him to put the disappointment behind and move on with his career. It’s a sad end to his journey to the World Cup which started from the first game in the qualifiers”.

Etebo was a left winger for Warri Wolves ? I have to check that.

Clubs will not take players who are bent on playing only their natural roles. Which is why you see players who would say they are willing to play any role to help the team. It’s all about the teams needs at every giving point in time.

forgiveness:
That was were he played mostly in the Nigerian league before he left for Europe.

Rohr just gather players without considering their natural role.

He is a makeshift CMF or AMF in the National team.

Let see how things go this friendly. Maybe we can have a clue of what is on Rohr's mind.

Like I don’t know. Stats is not everything. It MAY have worked for his clubs because of the chemistry in the team. Which player in the SE right now can pull a cross from the left. Victor Moses a true winger because he can do almost anything from there. Cut in, he can. Dribble he can. Crosses he can. I don’t care who we deploy as a left winger as long as we have someone who can deliver that cross when it is most needed.
That one moment could be the match decider.

Modified

That’s just one of his 5 goals. And besides that was a cut back pass. I repeat crosses is still an important aspect of the game. It’s one more option when others have failed. And u need to have that option. We have see. Onazi drift out to do it. Somebody also has to provide that option from the left. Iwobi sent us to the World Cup because of that tactical change. If you go many pages back you will see when I said there is a gap in the middle of Zambia’s defense we needed to exploit. I said that in the first half. He did just that — something he is best known for.

Modified
Let me add that Shehu cannot cross shit. We have other players that can cross from the right. We also need that from the left — that’s balance. Who is gonna drift out to the left and make that cross when it is needed most?

The more options — in terms of what the players can bring — u have in your team is what keeps you dynamic

Martz101:
shehu made such full back cut back for iwobi in the zambia match and yours truly was there to put it in, Mikel was in that team. simon went off for iwobi and iwobi was expected to be on the right side of the midfield.

iwobi has been effective because his a good player

Sir, we are not even playing England at the group stage. Ogu brings excellent cover to the CBs. He also can give you options in terms of long range shots and popping up to make headers. He is calm and an efficient player. Doesn’t do more than is necessary. His excellent positioning makes up for his lack of pace.
komekn:
I am unreasonable to some I see Ogu, with his lack of mobility, slow recovery and snail pace as a liability in fast paced match. Even his passion range us far from excellent his way too PREDICTABLE.

You need unpredictable inventiveness through the productive use of skill, vision and flair in midfield to be dominate and beat your opponent.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:27am On Jun 01, 2018
You have a point. But when those kind of fullbacks are lacking in the team...football has evolved but if you don’t have the right chemistry of players some formations won’t work. Why do u think Iwobi has been effective so far in SE colors?
Martz101:
same can be said of forward players like willian, hazard and mata they hardly give a cross but cut in or make a pass, football has envolved, most regular crosses are always done by the right back and left back or else in rare occasion.
