Let’s call a spade a spade. You lose attention when u stop performing. asha80: not sure what people see in this una tammy self that warrants an invite to the national team..na because he is 'obodo oyibo' trained and brought up and plays in premiership?i dont see anything fantastic about him..same thing jordan ibe..and this is not because they rejected nigeria..i never really saw anything in them. |

Lol, well there was a silent condition — if he maintained that form. With his current form even Pinnick could not have forced him on Rohr. tbaba1234: We were about to give Tammy easy WC shirt sha... 'rolled out the red carpet' in his own words. Tammy has not scored in the league for months.. |

No sentiments. Rohr would drop whoever is not giving enough. But that’s a big IF. aadvark: The long awaited friendly list is out, Junior Ajayi of Egypt's Al Ahly gets invite, but what do we expect? What exactly does Ajayi bring to the Eagles front line? His record in his club says its goals, goals and goals.
Ajayi has proven to be very prolific for his club this season, practically tearing through teams. His proficiency in front of goal will be of value to the Eagles as they hope for a strong outing at the world cup.
But as I type this, one question nags my mind. If he performs well in the friendlies, as I have a hunch he will, who will be dropped from the Eagles attack to accommodate him? The eagles attack is one position that is star studded, with names like Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Simon Moses, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo. So who will take the fall?
It's easy to point to Odion Ighalo, whose goal return has not been very impressive for the Eagles. Ajayi on the other hand knows how to put the ball in the net. But for a second, let's put on our analytical glasses.
The eagles usually play a 4-3-3formation with one top striker who is expected to not just score goals but also offer good hold up play. This Odion Ighalo does excellently, as we saw in the double header with Cameroon in the WC qualifiers. He can also drift to either wing and take on a man successfully, offering the sort of service that Real Madrid's Benzema does to his team. So even tho he doesn't score much, he is some sort of foil for the team, as his service makes it easy for various players to pop up with the goals.
Now can Ajayi offer that apart from the goals? The truth is that, if he provides decent enough hold up play in addition to goals, then I will be very sorry for Ighalo.
But hey, the friendlies are here, the stage is set, and a good performance from the Egypt-based goal machine might just worsen Rohr's headache. I for my part shall be on hand to hand him some Emzor paracetamol, lol. |

Akpeyi never flop yet abi? tbaba1234: I watched a interview by Rohr just last week and he did not sound that certain. He talked about looking at several possibilities. He has spoken to Osigwe, Maduka etc in recent weeks. He is getting a new gk coach to fortify the training. It sounded like a headache for him.
He talked about looking at other possibilities. These three are definitely favorites but it takes one or two flops to change that picture. |

Don’t be scared. Go ahead and predict. It’s just a prediction TheSuperNerd: I forsee Rohr taking six forwards and six midfielders to the mundial.... barring any injury and based on this list for the march friendlies.
That means the defence will have eight names and the GK dept will have 3 as usual.
I can easily fell out the names of Rohr's possible 23 for the WC but it is still early days. Time and chance still happeneth to all.. so let the friendlies come first. |

Agu should kiss Russia goodbye if he fails to get regular time at Bursaspor. Modified Maybe a few players who impress at their clubs between now and before then will make that provisional list of 30. We have 28 players in this list. TheSuperNerd: I am loving the list.... I thought only Stephen Eze and Ezenwa will be the guys from the CHAN team, but hey, wow... he brings in Okechukwu Gabriel too. Good for the lad's experience.
On this Goalie issue.... I think it is getting clearer who Rohr has in mind for Russia. Those three are gung-ho favorites now... only issue now is who would be No.1 from among the three....
Good to see Junior Ajayi (reward for hardwork and consistency), and Joel Obi (the jewel is back... hope he stays fit oooo) too.
Rohr will still release a provisional WC list.... so I await that too after this period of the friendlies. #SoarSuperEagles. |

So what do I do? My point, just because Dele plays in the Israeli top tier don’t mean he is the best of the lot. Let’s hope Rohr and the Gk coaches gets to see a lot of them as possible and pick the best of the lot. Modified I don’t think Rohr is open to older players unless their class and experience is undeniable.. Where that moniker when talk say dem dey plan to invite Ejide. Think about the name. It's not just a positional tag for naming sake. Wing forwards simply means they are forwards and they play at the wings. it is a collective name for both Right wingers and left wingers. for example, 3-4-3, 4-3-3 and any formation that has three forwards only, the players at the wings are wing forwards (RW and LW) In a 4-4-2 there are 4 defenders, 4 midfielders, and 2 forwards.. Again, it is named based on the formation. Hence we have AMR and AML . However, in the real sense they are RW and LW as well, as that position has always been dynamic.. wingers fall back to join the midfield and also bomb forward to launch attack or cross the ball. So AMR and RW, AML and LW are used interchangeably many times. A 4-2-3-1 is pretty much a 4-5-1. The same thing applies as in 4-4-2 above, but we have two DMs (pivot), and an attacker withdrawn to the midfield playing as an AM. Practically, the AMR and AML are still wingers. Modified. Let me add that the midfielders in a 3 man midfield are, DM, MR and ML RWF is the same as RW LWF is the same as LW Shukusheka: In a 4-3-3 wingers are referred to as wing-forwards (WF) and not just LW. It is a formation that determines what position a player plays is called.
In a 4-4-2, wingers are simply called (RW/LW) their jobs basically is add width to the team as well as assisting the fullbacks whenever the team was under pressure e.g Giggs & Beckham at Man Utd under Ferguson
In a 4-2-3-1 for, wingers are called (AMR/AML) and that's because they play further forward than a traditional RW/LW since they have two DM covering up for them to assist the fullbacks e.g Willian & Hazard under Mourinho at Chelsea or Mata & Mhikitarian under Mourinho at Man Utd.
In a 4-3-3 formation, wingers are called (RWF/LWF) and that's because they play more forward than an AML/AMR. They are forwards but they attack from the wings e.g Neymar, CR7, Mbappe. |

In a 4-3-3, the players behind the RW and LW are RM/MR and LM/ML respectively. AMR and AML are the wingers in a 4-4-2 for example. The formation determines how U call them. Practically, they are pretty much the same Oasis007: Sir T...... AMR is the same as RM, and it's clearly different from RW/RWF. The below Link gonna help further Sir.

Like I said there is no much of a difference because of the dynamic nature of those positions. But if u want to be exact, what I stated earlier applies. tbaba1234: Wingers fall into that AMR/AML name.. |

I think he is right here. In a 4-3-3, the wingers are referred to as LW and RW. Doesn’t make much of a deference though, but the formation determines the nomenclature. AMR stands for attacking midfielder right AML attacking midfielder left. e.g 4-4-2 tbaba1234: A winger or a wing forward is an AMR.
Unless he is playing in a three man attack. |

I knew U will do a better job at this. Mujtahida: Even though India was partitioned and Pakistan was formed, India still has more than TWO THOUSAND ETHNIC GROUPS. As regards religion, India is also highly diversified because although Hinduism is one of the major religions, the Hindu pantheon contains more 330 million gods and goddesses with everyone having the liberty to choose which god or goddess to worship and serve. In fact one can choose different gods and goddesses for different aspects of one's life. Officially India has nine religions - Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Zoroastrianism, Jainism, Christianity, Judaism, Sikhism and Baha'i faith. In Nigeria just perhaps 500 ethnic groups, three official religions abi two sef Yet India is working at least better than Nigeria. Nigeria is not as complex as India.
Indonesia has 300 ethnic groups. Yet it works just fine. Very fine sef.
Our problem is not tribalism per se. It's a certain kind of retrogressive mentality cloaking itself as tribalism. I just had to chip this in |

You are as good as ur last game. Any lover of SE will hope that he can bring that performance against Barca to SE. that’s what we need against big big World Cup opponents. mazimee: Etebo against Argeria was climbing Argerian player's back like palm tree. He was below average doing the qualifiers |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:18pm On Mar 04, 2018 |
It seemed Etebo was given a free role against Barca. Something Moses does for SE. The dude has shown massive improvement based on the clips I saw. I can’t say he will start for us, but barring injury, he’s got his name and number already printed in that new beautiful SE kit. TheSuperNerd: Hey guys plsss come on... Give Etebo a break aiit... We know his recent games in the GWG was nothing close to spectacular but don't forget how good he came against Algeria in Uyo. Please.
Etebo's problem is that he is a Jack of all trades and master of just 2 (CDM/box2box and LM). In other roles, we only get to see a below average Etebo who may make some of us ask what the f**k he is doing wearing our national team jersey.
Etebo is a special talent aiit... A lad with 8 lungs (Sir Terzurum5 think I said 10... Well maybe it is 10 afterall)... Onazi got 4 lungs... Ndidi got 7... Lol... Fact is Etebo is a true life power force and a super bull. Buuuuuuuutttttttt.....
But the thing is this.... WE GOT TO FIND THE BEST WAY TO PLAY ETEBO IN THE SUPER EAGLES... AND THAT I THINK WE HAVE FOUND ALREADY. Dude is more of an LM (Olympic games experience) and a CDM (his most effective role in the Super Eagles so far). His experiment in the AM role was a failure. He doesn't have the creativity for the role. He is limited there.
In the LM/LW role (which he also featured in for Feirense in Portugal), we have options in Iwobi and co... So that leaves him with the CDM role(s) as a CM as part of a double pivot or as a box-to-box MF.
So plsss guys and ladies, cut Etebo some slack and understand that his playing in LA liga is actually an added advantage for our team if he makes the plane to Russia. I use "IF" coz I maintain for now that only Mikel, Ndidi and Onazi are sure bets for Russia in the midfield dept. The other 2-3 slots are still up for grabs among the likes of John Ogu, Etebo, Mikel Agu, Joel Obi and who again?
We hope Rohr limits Etebo to the C/DM role and make the best of him there as his boundless Kryptonian energy and endurance levels will be well channelled into our midfield as a solid back-up option to the undisputed starters. The LM/LW role is occupied. No space for him there in a 4-2-3-1 or even in a 4-4-2.
So that's it. Etebo is in with a shout to Russia based on his strong performances in LA liga but let the friendlies do the most talking.
Like a lady here wisely put it... Your club performances may get you invites but it is your performances in the GWG that earns you a shirt in the team in the long run
SO FREE ETEBO... He is doing well and we hope he brings that to the Eagles when given the chance to play again in the friendlies to convince us further of his relevance to the team. Thank you. |

Looks realistic MetalJigsaw: This is my prefared World Cup list. And I'm sure that the actual one that will be released by Rohr won't be very defferent from it.
GOALKEEPERS: (in no particular order because its the only department that is very much up for ravish by any personnel. About Akpeyi, I still believe he will make the cut but not as first choice because of his exploits at club level. And he will likely get over his psychological issues and lack roof confidence wearing the green jersey) Ezenwa, Uzoho, Akpeyi.
DEFENDERS: Ekong. Balogun. Awaziem. Shehu. Aina. Idowu. Omeruo. Ebuehi
MIDFIELDERs: Mikel. Ogu. Ndidi. Etebo. Onazi. Joel
FORWARDS: Iheanacho. Moses. Ighalo. S.Moses. Iwobi. Musa
I totally unassumed Joel Obi's injury concerns which earned him the inclusion, with his undisputed quality and how much potency that he brings to our midfield.
Onyekuru Is another talent worth mentioning but his present injury issue which could affect his impressive form and jeopardize his World Cup chances, coupled with his inability to impress Rohr when he was called upon ruled him out for me. |
