Css should be the easiest to grasp after html.

You are extremely right. I'd been in the game even before CSS3 was widely adopted... when flexbox and the grid system were not the order of the day.

Floats and clears, overflows and clearfixes were used to create and hack layouts those crazy days; at least in my opinion its a bit easier now.

JavaScript is where you begin to really sweat your pants out but again, EcmaScript 6 has made JavaScript more readable and free-flowing unlike other Ecma prior versions.

Combined with the plethora of information that can be found these days, I think the barrier is more surmountable these days than before.
