One of the ministers said that they want the 1000 Naira note to be in polymer but due to the fact that the only polymer manufacturer (Australian based) in the world that can do it said they can't deliver on Oct 1 2005 so they have to get an alternative (which is what we have now). IMO why the rush, can't they wait and bring out a nice job. Yeye people. |
I hope it won't cause inflationIt may/may not cause inflation, but we may just end up like Ghana where a single nigerian newspaper will cost 10,000 Cedis. |
alhaji ma borma, dr clement isong. (i have no clue who they are)Both of the are former CBN governors. |
They can put mobile phone contents on the sites. Am sure they will naturally get more traffic since anybody that does not know the existence of gloworld.com will first try globacom.com first. Globacom should try and get the domain name from those guys too. There are lot's of undesireable stuffs that can be done with that domain. |
I wonder if MKO will ever make it to any Nigerian currency. What has he done for this country? |
Most people don't know the source(s) of funding for some people hence the possibility of them accusing them wrongly. If you guys know how most of these people get their money you will think twice before saying anything. |
And here is the new 1000 Naira note. God help me to have millions of it. https://www.nairaland.com/img/1000.jpg |
The pictures are that of former 2 CBN governors. |
Nigerians should try to create an e-commerce market right here in Nigeria. With the use of Valucard and e-transact and even bank payments, we can develop our own bubbling e-commerce system here. China, India and some other countries have develop their own e-market. The experience and acceptance gained by sellers and buyers can later be adapted to international e-commerce. Nigeria has a bad reputation online. No body in his/her right sense will authorize any Nigrerian to deduct money from their credit card. The possibility of a big online market in Nigeria is very sound when you consider the huge population we have got, the only drawback to e-commerce break in Nigeria is/are the lack of infrastrutures that can facilitate smooth runnnings of e-commerce oprations. I hope the Federal Government will pull through their plan of introducing a Nigeria based credit card. |
People buy stocks with the hope of an increase in the share price of the stock, isn't that gambling? I see ventures like this as pure buying and selling, the only difference is that at times you sell and make so much profit at times you won't sell anything. A venture like this is even more profitable. My believe is, business is all about making money, nothing more nothing less. |
People that trade in stocks on NSE and Wall Street trade based on speculation(s). I don't see it as a bad idea if someone can invest in ventures like this. |
Make $1.4 Million with $30: The vip.com domain name was sold for $1.4 Million to Leisure & Gaming Plc, a British betting site operator. The potentials of the Internet are just unlimited. When will these miracles happen in Nigeria? |
Stored procedures have been standard on MS Sql Server, Oracle and even ordinary MS Access. MySql is good thanks to PHP, i hope a desktop friendly version of it soonest. I thank those guys at MySql AB for coming out with these improvements. |

Microsoft is suffering from her own success; They moved away from being a software company far too into business dealings. Linux which MSFT has percieved as nothing but nonsense is been used by millions and now people know what it's like to have a better option. MS has alway been after the idea of "first to market" and people have been complaining bitterly about it until now that it has become so apparent. Speculations are rave about the possibility of Google shipping a strip down OS that will be a client of their massive computer infrastructures. The possiblity of Google shipping an OS and a browser has been giving MSFT a lot of nightmere, the recent hire by Google of some of MSFT brightest engineers has irked Ballmer so much that he promised to "Fucking bury Eric Schmidit..." Before it was Linux, now it's Google who's gonna be next... |
The nurseries for software innovation (universities) are nothing but book-cramming houses (and for God's sake 1970s books!) In this age of ever dynamic computer innovations, I used to wonder why we are still so backward. The so called NITDA is nothing but a seminar seminar body - no innovation, nothing nothing. It's very funny recently one of my cousins (she studied Computer Science) finished her youth service last month. I found it so funny to know that she did not even know how to open her yahoo e-mail box; and same goes for 90% of other graduates too. |
Jakumo God bless you for your insights. What really inspires me to suggest this is that around 3AM last night i went out and i saw these men with their rickety patrol van going round the town. Most of those crying foul over N20 were with their wife and children, but these guys where in the rain trying to see who goes there and make sure would be trouble maker have some fear of been sighted. On number of occasions many of those on the highway get killed in drivebys by armed robbers and smugglers, yet we only see that as their punishment .If we legalize it and demystify the giving of N20 to these people it will reduce the possibility of them discharging at any fucking time, or do you want someone with no assurance of how he can calm the frayed nerves of a nagging to be smiling at you went you fail to do his bidding on the road. I see it as a "motivational token" not a bribe, if we call it a bribe we are really misssing something. We must only make them know that it's going to be a free giving, not to be forcibly taken from people as it is now. Marijuana was legalized in The Netherland and i know it will be just like cigarette in 10 years time, so what really stop us from putting smiles on the faces of some under-motivated "hard workers". |
I only right the wrong on that site. ![]() |
Propably because Seun has access to the internet from his room made him think every Nigerian can afford internet access. Internet cafes is/are what made the Internet and IT awareness to be where it's today in Nigeria if not for them i don't know if Nairaland would have ever seen the light of the day. When you consider what is required to get access to the internet: a pc (and maintenance for those that are not IT pro), a connection, a monthly payment and a regular power supply you will know that the cybercafe industry has come to stay. The largest internet cafe (http://www.easyinternetcafe.com) in the world is in the US and they have been making cool money since they open shop, same for all their other outlets around the world. Don't people have access(cheap one for that matter) in those places, or did Mr. Biggs and Tantaslizer put the regualr "Mama Put" out of the market. Anyway it's always about the economics of things, if you know how it work, you will know better. @DC, are you trying to do something like what (www.steampowered.com) are doing. |
Shouldn't we legalize Bribe taking by Nigerian Policemen? I used to wonder if it could be possible for us to legalize "rogering" our policemen. It has become a way of life so what stops us. |
This Summer of Code thingy will surely bring more stuff to the open source community. Though i ain't a coder, but i don't see a Nigerian winning this ASAP. |

It's a well known truth that people will always side what will bring/add to their worth. I wonder in this age why people can't even reason and go through the bible themselves. This link clearly states why tithing is of no more importance. ( http://www.truthortradition.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=161) And even in the old testament, Jacob did not pay tithe until God bless him, he only did after he has been blessed. But here you see pastors asking people that can hardly afford to eat to pay tithes which end up in some organized hands. Saying tithe payment is the only way God can bless people is just like turning God into a lottery ( you play with a small amount and win millions LOL). |
@Bizkid welcome on board. I hope you will give more insights to some of the people here. At least i know you are a veteran(judging from your ID) on this topic. |
They have made so much money from licensing the mobile/phone version of their browser that they don't need the money from the desktop version anymore!Investors investment in there are more or less doomed. It's just like MS giving Windows away for free! The ecomomics of this act does not seem too appealing to me. |
Do you know that Opera 8.5 is now free? See www.opera.com/free/First they remove ads now they are offering it for free, is Opera a company or a charity LOL. I hope they get to pay their developers or are they turning it (Opera) into a community effort. |
Emmm, please, please tell me you are all just joking...... no TFT ke??That seems to be the fact, non of the leading computer hardware sellers have it for sale right now. |
God bless you bro; I have not seen or heard about TFTs here neither. |
