ogbiwa: A man has been raising his arm for more than 45 years, and he doesn't plan to stop because of his dedication to his faith.
Amar Bharati left the world stunned after he was pictured with his arm raised strongly holding a stance with his fist in the 1970s.
He was a married man with three children, who worked in a bank, but in 1973 he decided to ditch his modest life in the name of world peace.
He decided to dedicate himself to a Hindu deity called Shiva, and in a bid to show his devotion he came up with the idea to lift his arm and to keep it positioned that way.
"I don’t ask for much. Why do we fight between us, why is there so much hate and enmity between us? I want all Indians to live in peace," he previously told History of Yesterday.
"I want the whole world to live in peace."
Bharati spent the first two years of his quest in pain but after that, it slowly started to ease as he eventually lost all sense of feeling in his arm, reports Lad Bible.
But due to several decades of holding the same position, it would take him a lot of time to bring his arm back down next to his waist because of the loss of circulation.
Some users on Quora believed that it wouldn't be possible, while others said even if he could it would cause him discomfort spiritually.
One person said: "You would likely cause Mr. Bharati a great deal of pain, not only physically but spiritually as well, as he believes that his eternal salute promotes world peace.
"As the bone structure is still intact, the arm would likely not snap like a twig but rather sunder at a joint, where cartilage has dried and receded.
"Basically, you would break his arm, but maybe not in half."
Another user commented: "I don't think that he would be able to use his arm again due to the fact that the blood circulation in his hand would have become very less if not completely stopped and thus all the vital tissues would die."

The movie star shared her thoughts in an Instagram story on Tuesday.
The veteran actress is one of the few celebrities who has managed to stay away from social media controversies.
On Independence Day, the 42-year-old penned down a note to Nigerians urging them to be good ambassadors of their nation.
“It takes heart to be Nigerian. Nigeria is not you. You are Nigeria. Be the reason they speak good about us wherever you are. Happy Independence to you in particular,” she wrote.
She's the only Nigerian Actress that says sensible things...the rest Na show off dem sabi.

Smoothbabykong: Hi guys, I need your honest opinions about my relationship.
My girlfriend and I have been dating for quite a while but I don't know what is happening at the moment.
The problem is this, we both live in the UK. We have made plans to get married and we have plans to start up a business in Nigeria. The truth is that she kept some money with me and I used it to sort some debts out but was planning to give the money back to her when she is ready to leave for Nieria.
What really happened was that there was a certain money given to me by another to help him send down to Nigeria. Out of trust, I told another friend of mine to handle the transaction but unfortunately it all went sideways. So I had to use the money with me to sort the debt out while I recover the other from my other friend.
My girlfriend has been asking me for the money and I lied to her that it's in my account but there has been sort of a problem with it which she believed. The day she was suppose to go to Nigeria, she still asked about it and she told me if I was busy my friend (she knows the guy) can pick up the money for her because she needs to sort some things out enroute to Nigeria. I called my friend and told him to lie to her that the money is with him and I will know what to tell her till I can recover the money from him.
Later that day, she called me and was crying that I betrayed her. She told me everything that happened to her money which means my friend must have told her. She hung up. I tried calling my friend, he has blocked me. Lots of things were through my mind. Dont know what to do. She sent me a few messages and blocked me on both WhatsApp and via calls. When she got to Nigeria that same day, she unblocked me. She told me I have to pay and I said yes I will. I admitted I lied and I tried to explain to her why I lied. Its been a week. I have tried apologizing twice. She read it and ignored me. I told her send me the account she wants the payment. She didn't reply. Fortunately I have her brother's account number and sent her 70 percent of her money and I sent her the receipt too. I only managed to get that amount after selling my car off with a few gadgets and electronics in my house.
I don't know whether to just forget about her or to wait till when she is ready to talk.
She has done outrageous things in past which I have overlooked also. I have even resulted maybe she has another person with in Nigeria and I should just move on.
Thanks for your opinions
Abeg gimme your gf let me manage her well since you've failed her.
God1000: I just came across a story on Facebook today, a man was lamenting and seeking for advice on what to do, he's at his wit's end. Here's the story, the man lost his wife at child's birth and after awhile he met another lady that assisted him in raising the child, he eventually had a soft spot for her and sent her to university with the hope of marrying the girl the moment she finishes from school.
The problem now is that the lady doesn't pick his calls like before, she hardly calls him and the man is nonplussed.
Why are ladies giving guys every justifiable reason not to help them again? Is this smartness or turpitude?
Abagworo: India is as messed up if not worse than Nigeria. Uncontrolled population growth and a wide gap between rich and poor. Worst still India practices the caste system

FourElements: Why should I feel guilty? I'm not the op. Your continuous use of the derogatory word 'bash' to reference married women connotes you may not have fully been over the habit...
FourElements: The issue is on "bashing" a MARRIED WOMAN...
Don't feel guilty...just ask God for forgiveness and mean it!..try not to go back at it again since it's a bad thing...Peace...I've bashed a married woman before, but I'm over it now...We move.
How will eight children open a parked car and cramp themselves in the car and then go ahead to lock themselves just to play inside? They need to do more investigation.
RIP to the dead.
Investigation will most likely yield no result in this case particularly...Na the children use their hand do themselves...I tell parents, don't leave your kids running about on the streets, playing with other kids anyhow without close supervision...Every parent should have a close eye on their kids to avoid stories that touch...Use Dbanj's case as an example...This is a case of bad parenting and negligence...RIP To the dead..
Timekeeper: I think there is a evil that reside in a lady once she gets married... As in, some married women are so selfish and wicked... S
Let me give these instances;
1. Their own brothers and sisters come to her husband home and there is no issue.. He/she (wife siblings) has unrestricted access to everything in the house since it's her sister's husband house.. But when the husband siblings come, they have restricted access to some things in the house.. Any attempt to go futher, the wife start bringing up attitude towards them..
2. The wife mother comes and she is free to stay as long as she wants but if the husband mother comes, the selfish wife is already asking the husband when will mama leave for her place....
3. The husband sends money to her family, no problem, the husband sends to his family, then there is need for him to be accountable for the money sent to his own parents oooo..
4. Husband sponsors wife siblings to school and all is fine.. Husband sponsors his own siblings and the wife develops hatred automatically towards the sibling bcox she thinks they are draining her husband resources..
Some married women are wicked soul in disguise. Bad enough, you wunt see these attitudes in them until they are married.
I still wonder and ask; why are some married woman so selfish and demonic in nature?
An average Nigerian is extremely selfish and wicked.
Two Nigerian police officers who investigating a case of car snatching, bursted a syndicate who specializes in snatching vehicles. They were tracked down to Nasarawa state and were arrested.
The two officers who arrested them, were bribed to the tune of #8,000,000 naira, by top officers in the organization, so that the case and the evidence will be destroyed, apparently due to their refusal to comply with the instructions of the top officers, they were framed up, handcuffed, tortured for 15Days in the presence of the car snatchers, and finally were dismissed from Nigerian police force. This is not good for the image of the Nigerian police force.
This is coming after Kemi Olunloyo alleged that popular disc jockey, Catherine Udeh, professionally known as DJ Switch, misled Nigerians with her report on last year’s Lekki Toll Gate event.
Kemi Olunloyo has fired back at Ruth Kadiri, claiming that she doesn’t know the actress and would advise her to leave her name off her lips.
Taking to her Instagram page, she also warned Ruth Kadiri to take the ‘bullying post’ off her page or she would unleash her fans on her.

nairavsdollars: If found guilty of torturing Sylvester Oromoni, the 12 year old student of Dowen College, Lekki to death, what will happen to the affected students since they are minors and not up to 18?
Rtk5: Every bashing or insult is accepted because of the gravity of my actions.
I went to shop the other day and just at the entrance I saw a wrapped gift fall off a woman's bag while she entered her car to drive off, I picked it then rushed to give her, she thanked me and we exchanged numbers.
We got chatting that same day and she told me she is married with 3 kids which was obvious right from when I saw her. She even sent me some of their family pix and boom i discovered that her husband was someone whom we grew together in the same street those years but we were never friends because of age diffrrence as he was like My senior with 10-12 years age difference. Our chat with her got so intensed that we agreed to hangout together but we needed a secret place due to our marital status, so the only place we could go for was a hotel.
Yesterday Sunday we went there and before i knew it we had sex. Since yesterday till this till now my conscience has been disturbing me, infact I couldn't sleep throughout the night till now. I've done what is evil.
How do I get this guilt off me?
....No be u be first, nor last...Life no balance, I've been bashing this fine girl that's been with me for few days now, main chic didn't know I used my leave from work to brush somebody else's daughter...Truly men are polygamous but doesn't mean ladies are exempted....The guy cheated, the lady cheated too....God go kuku punish 2 of us cos nobody holy....
pmoye: This is advice is really for Nigerian ladies. Please and please do not marry a man that is not rich. Your very life will depend on it. You heard me... How long you live as a woman may well depend on how rich your husband is. This may seem like an over-generalization, but a very needful one. Quite a troubling percentage of Nigerian men can not handle a woman who is more financially buoyant.
Ideally it shouldn't matter how much each person earns, because I believe that the husband and the wife should be one financially. That the home should be planned like a company with budgets, financial planning, sound auditing and all... But from the much we have seen around the average Nigerian family is far from this ideal. We often have what increasingly looks like a union that appears more to serve a cultural/societal expectation, a union that is sustained just so that the society can think you are happily married, while between the man and the wife it is more like between US and China, between Northern and Southern Nigeria, a perpetual cold war and bitter jostling for resource allocation and control.
I have seen women who have died because the husbands couldn't afford antenatal care and used ego-motivated argument to keep the women from accessing timely medical care... And of course, few years or even months after that those wicked men would later bring in other wives into the house.
The poorer the man, the more wicked, the more angry, and the more deadly he generally is in Nigeria. Do not let any man or any woman convince you to marry for love. There is no such thing as that, just a queer surge of hormones that makes you think you are in love. If you marry a poor man for love, hunger and suffering will soon reset your thinking, and by then most women feel too culturally compelled to remain with the toxin of a husband they have. Take a cue from evolutionary development in animal kingdom generally where females select the most suitable male for mating.
Do not simply believe in a man's future plans and dreams. If he doesn't have money now, he is not ready to be a husband. No matter how much you think you love him, treat him like the case of AS genotype (yours) marrying an SS genotype (his). And this is something I respect some Igbo men for. They will never think of marrying a woman unless they are economically ready.
If he is earning N30,000, or N40,000 or N90,000 per month he is not ready to marry. These are just examples from posts I have seen around here. Do not be fooled, the amount on the payslip is not always available for taking care of the home. But that's the talk for another day.
Some of us are probably never going to get married, I personally find it very scary to read about how men because of poverty increasingly turn against their wives in marriage... I may be too traditional though, because I do not fvcking care the money the wife is bringing into the house. Her role as a mother and a wife is already supremely more than you need to compensate for as a man. If you are a man, do not get close to a man when you are still poor. It is wickedness. It is dishonesty. It is crime against humanity. Do not sell her a future hope of becoming a pastor and other popular silliness.
Marrying a lady when you cannot completely and single-handedly take care of her is gender violence. Stop it.
Smh.... you're unable to even Write/type properly and all you care about is not marrying a man who isn't rich....your mentality is poor and in that case,....it is finished.
