Abagworo: The "PH" refinery has been working all these years but never in full capacity and at heavy loss. Nothing owned by Government can work except under a dictator who does quick judgement using decree instead of normal law. Obasanjo got an easy solution but Yar'Adua sacrificed it on a plata. Buhari sold Port Harcourt refinery to OANDO which is a private Company and he did it quietly so what is actually happening is that OANDO has acquired NNPC and interest of some powerful politicians is in OANDO so a Monopoly in the oil sector is being established. Please, come and reexplain this thing. As in, this same PH refinery we're waiting for is not a sole property of Nigeria government? |

PaulH07: The Tinubu I know would still perform despite all these hurdles.
He knows it wasn't going to be easy right from the start, with so many dissidents in the name of Obidients.
Had Obi removed subsidy, no one would lament, cos most of those lamenting today are Obidients.
Those who voted Tinubu are enduring hoping for a better Nigeria, which they believe would definitely come. The ever changing of decisions at every criticism is scary, it looks like Asiwaju has not blueprint. The economy team seems to be only doing trial and error. When that might not be bad outrightly, Asiwaju Bois were thought to be having idea they were hiding from Buhari and will be unveiled immediately they come on board. Plus, Asiwaju was over hyped. And he's falling more than those are not master strategists like him. |

ravensckar: Politicians have succeeded in bastardising our traditional institutions. Why appoint a so-called pastor as king when he has to be involved in some idolatory cum traditional practices? It's antithetical!
Can a person serve God and still engage in idolatory? Or he will abolish our ancient traditional practices in the name of religion? This is the kind of confusion that weakened our traditional institutions and exalted foreign 'Abrahamic religions' above them.
This is absurd! It was never an appointment. The kingmakers conducted screening and did the sorting out, when they could not agreed with a consensus candidate from the next Royal house, they conducted an election and this man won. But the family being a Muslim majority was angry that the man is an elite and a western nation based. Makinde had to delay so their grievances won't affect his Ogbomoso election result. On kingship and idolatry. African kings in the past accepted idolatry because that was the only available religion they know (not necessarily because a king is suppose to be a traditionalist). And if a believer now becomes a king, he mustn't be an idolater. The Queen of England is not a traditionalist because she is Queen. There is nothing that says kingship and idolatry must go together. That's only the religion known to the then kings. Presently, in Ogbomoso, the next Oba after Soun in term of rank is a Christian and an Evangelist. He has turned the idol worship place to a crusade ground. A lot of kings are now around that are believers and many who are preachers. |

So, you have a sister who's not just a Christian but a minister and your posturing with this forum has given Muslims and atheists the upper hand completely relegating Christians to the end of the stick.
Thanks to you, we have the largest population of atheists and godlessness in the entire country.
You promote Muslim ideologies so well that all your mods are biased against anything Christianity and favoring Muslims at all times, at all costs. With the example of the number of Muslim threads on Friday against Christian threads on Sunday. Also, with the example of the I am a Muslim tag, made compulsory on Muslim threads why you give any donkey access to mess up Christian threads
You come out publicly to blast God and any idea and anyone that stands for God's agenda. You commit all of these crimes against our kingdom, yet you have the effontery to publicize a Christian event because it's your sister involved in it.
Your posturing shows you're not only godless but completely lost your senses. I feel great remorse for you because with your billions earnings, it becomes further difficult to instruct you to corrections

Politics › Re: "Our Economy Is Trapped" - Tinubu Vows To End Nigeria’s Over-reliance On Loans by Johncuppa(m): 7:04pm On Aug 08, 2023 |
BoldBrainz: Canada can afford to let their currency float with the US dollar. Their economy is stable enough to create a level playing field for both currencies to coexist without the potential danger of the US dollar running the Canadian dollar aground. Even with the side-by-side operational policy, the Canadian dollar cannot be battered to the point where inflation would skyrocket.p
The US can afford to float the GBP (Great Britain Pound) alongside it home currency, for the same reasons I enunciated above. Conversely, the US can always access the pound sterling in the case their domestic demand is out-running the availability of the pounds.
But you have to be daft to employ the same strategy to the naira and dollar when you don't have any sort of control whatsoever on the availability of the dollar and its demand by the public. You're naively creating an artificial scarcity for a currency that is literally the foundation of your economy, seeing how Nigeria basically doesn't produce anything it consumes, and depends wholely on imports which are further dependent on the US dollar.
I just dey pity Nigerians as it is. Y'all should wait for the festive period to come and see if you'll even be able to buy one fowl for your family to celebrate Xmas.. ! Thank you so much. Now, I understand. But here is my concern, these people use to have men sorrounding them from financial institutions of high repute - P&G, price water copper house, Deloitte, CBN and so on, does it mean those ones do not understand all these factors or what? Many elites like Ben Bruce even hailed this policy, so I was thinking it's truly a bail out one. And to think the man leading the affair even claimed to be an accountant and good policy maker is another thing. I wish I have time to waste, I would have gone for a diploma program in economics. Why is there is no fixed factor in fiscal policy - it is always trial and error, and most times, men who do these are mostly sorrounded with high profile economic maestro. I can never understand. |

Let's not give obidients any right to say rubbish about this government The issue on ground is beyond obidients. It's becoming clear that Asiwaju didn't have anything prepared for the ambition he has so much nursed. Talking of patient or easing the subsidy effects, till when exactly? SmartPolician: America is a country where laws work! If Biden wants a cheap way to win his re-election bid, he should use his money to pay the student loans. That's if he has anything close to that.
But then, if Americans, who can easily get jobs after college, are unable to repay their student loans, is it in Nigeria where a student cannot get a decent job after 5 years that people can pay their student loans? I fear. I told my brother who is in his final year, if you have extra year in school, you're on your own. |

siofragspot:

No one should mention Tinubu here o There is no how we will not mention him. If loan is difficult for students to repay, to the point of the president thinking of forgiving them in the number one country of the world, it will sure be a disaster in the poor ravaging country like Nigeria with no job and a working economy policy Last last, the 20 millions Americans if they are Nigerians will be forced to join Nigeria Army, and will be fed with agbado and cassava. This government should help Nigerians. Education subsidy removal will be worse than fuel, especially for we southwesterners - education is our only pride. The Igbos have their business, and northers enjoy their power and low life. If education becomes commercialized, Yoruba may not have anything to be proud of and the legacy of Awolowo gone for good. And to think we are not so rich to afford it is another thing. |

No budget for subsidy in 2022 budget and without new house no supplementary budget
This means NNPC became private
Anybody can bring in PMS into Nigeria and sell for any amount
Anyone can build refinery
If you were Tinubu what would you do differently That is the essence of leadership and the engagement of wisdom. Even when subsidy has not been removed, PYO under Buhari rolled out tradersmoni, marketmoni, npower, ntech. There is no how people will see these and not think of better governance ahead. But now, where is the sign of things to ease the effect. Should anything like tax on vehicle , school fees loan ( a sign of education subsidy removal) top the agenda of this administration in a time like this? Imagine the number of start up businesses that will go down, the companies increasing their goods and services price. How exactly has the president planned to tackle this problem. Not everybody is here to wail or hating, I'm Yoruba and I won't have benefited from anyone directly, but seriously how can a common Nigerian not be affected in all of these. |

Reason why President Tinubu, having removed fuel subsidy, concluded plan to introduce tuition in Fed institutions and floated Naira, should NOW unveil his plan to stimulate the economic from agriculture, fishery, SMEs, entertainment, sports, etc. Also, plan to incentivize industrialization and entrepreneurship. It is about time.
My advice is that whatever Pres. Tinubu is doing, he should use his goodwill to involve state governors for multiplier effects in states across Nigerian. Unlike most of Buhari's programs that were only FG-driven with little impact. To what extent will that go among Nigerians without prejudice like fuel and free education? |
